Title: Merit spamming [report]
Post by: Mia Chloe on December 01, 2023, 08:33:52 PM
Hello everyone Bitcoin SV (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=2371095) made an akward comment  on my recent post (Re: A friendly appeal (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5476231.msg63253792#msg63253792)) so I decided to go through his profile and I found a very suspicious case of merit exchange across alts or friends .below is a list of accounts connected .plus most of them have negative trust
  • corel (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=2271237) has received 1 merit from CRAIC and has sent 33 merits to only CRAIC since the last 120 days
  • Grafen (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=2784226) has received 2merits from CRAIC and has sent 3 merits to only CRAIC in the last 120 days, recently woke up from inactivity
  • Kounter (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=2719379) received 10merits from CRAIC and has sent all his smerits(9) to CRAIC in the last 120 days
  • Kypher (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=2549474) received 38 merits from CRAIC and sent 20 to CRAIC in the last 120 days
  • Bitcoin SV (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=2371095) has a very strong negative active flag supported by many members including dt, has 27 negative trust ,2 neutral trust and has exchanges merit suspiciously to accounts on this list
  • Unikon (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=2550230) earned merits and sent 40 merits to CRAIC in just 1 reply
  • CRAIC (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=3543162)

There is no such a thing as merit spamming, I don't even wanna click on those links to member profiles and would say they are his huge community he is so proud of. Just ignore him, and if he looked you in a wrong way, tell us so we can castrate him, if he has any left.😂

Good eye, OP but I don't know if you noticed but mods, DT members, and others don't really take any action against merit abusers and haven't for a while now.  Theymos basically doesn't want much tagging for that sort of thing, even though members are still free to do so.

Why oh why did that troll come back?

Probably got bored and came back to troll for some laughs.

We could though, and in fact I don't see why not.
The merit system was put in place to prevent spamers from reaching high ranks with ease as it was possible before.
Inaction against merit abuse just makes it easier for them to get around any meaningful restriction that it imposed.

Yeah, one reason though is because we have seen the Bitcoin mempool's clogged and users complaining about the fees. Enter this account, claiming to be the fastest and biggest block size and low fees.

And that's why we have the "ignore user options".

The activity of CRAIC looks very suspicious coupled with his rank to have receive such huge dump from Unikon, corel and Kypher if we monitor closely you would noticed that none of these account are barely Hero or Sr. Member rank rather they are all Full member below so it shows it every solid evidence that both account are being operated and controlled by one single user. But The Sceptical Chymist feedback has already summarized everything.

If you can find a strong link between these accounts and an account that has been permanently banned, then you can say that these accounts will be banned or one of these account have a negative trust related to scam.

Did you clicked on Bitcoin SV Trust feed (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust;u=2371095) to know why he was given such amount of Negative tags?
I did clicked on that profile and was given a tag for scam..
Here is his profile summary, although from the above mentioned account none is ban yet.

That's true, but it's still worth to share his finding. Some member (including merit source) might add these members to ignore list.

You guys need to find yourself another hobby then tagging accounts on daily basis. Regarding the Merit system it's corrupt from bottom to top, it has some good souls in it but sadly the corruption is to huge so most part is rotten.

I know that, but there is no strong link between these accounts. As mentioned above, exchanging merits are not enough to say that this account is an alt. The best that can be done now is neutral trust, but if there is any strong link, then the red trust will be mandatory.

Absolutely correct!
And there is no wallet connection either or that links to each others, usually meriting each profile isn't a thing to look into since it doesn't add anything or removed anything from user instead it may likely decayed or expired. But for long I never come across a post that speaks about merits decaying or expiring.
Nevertheless, no tag is needed I don't think they should be given a neutral tag because sharing merits isn't a crime I believe I have also given someone a huge merits but not at a go rather occasionally.

Instead of all of you wasting time on that Faketoshi troll, wouldn't it be better to put him on ignore and show him clearly that we are not interested in his nonsense? Every participation in the topic he starts or reply to his post only gives him an incentive to be even more active and therefore to promote his fake bitcoin.
