Title: Do you spend a lot of time on screen?
Post by: Fline Han on December 24, 2023, 04:02:08 PM
In this world and age, financial freedom comes with a price of diligence and hardwork.

Many neglect their health because they are busy especially on screen doing their best to reach the top of their game.

Working full time on screens can lead to eye strain, poor posture, digital fatigue, and sleep disruption.

Manage it by taking regular breaks, adjusting ergonomics, using blue light filters, staying active, setting boundaries, practicing mindfulness, and staying hydrated. Balancing screen time with self-care is crucial for overall well-being.

It's still the same with any type of job that there's a need to work-life balance.

If you've been used to screen times for so long and all over these years, your eyes are the most affected and get it protected by consulting an eye specialists.

You getting a pair of glass with protection from radiation or what not is a great investment.

If you can't change a job where you constantly sit in front of a screen, you should take breaks and rest your eyes. Just think about how much stress this puts on the body, you not only damage your eyesight, but also injure the body as a whole, you will probably experience neck and back pain, and what will happen to your sleep. Take care of your health, one day you will realize that it would be cheaper to change jobs than to spend money on restoring your physical health.

I try to still have that healthy lifestyle like the basics ones of having a good sleep and eating good food. Achieving financial freedom requires dedication, but it's crucial not to compromise your health. Prioritize self-care by starting small or anything your time and money can afford like incorporating breaks, physical activity, boundaries, mindfulness, and hydration into your routine. A balanced approach ensures both professional success and overall well being. :)

With the development of technology, the time we spend in front of the screen has increased without realizing it. Various social platforms (Youtube,İnstagram Twitter(X) etc.) have also developed themselves with the awareness of this.
We are warning just children about this but before they we should stop spend our precious time on the screen instead of that we should do something more useful for ourselves. So they can observe us and they pick us as a role model.I think this is a little clue of growing individuals who are beneficial to society.   ;) ;D ;D

I doubt that many people spending their time on screen are trying to be better financially or doing something productive, they are spending more time on watching YouTube videos, TikTok, and Instagram posts then chatting with random people called social media friends.

You/we can lecture how much we want but the thing went too deep and it's impossible to become anti-technology now.

Yes I do think I am spending alot of time on my computer screen and phone screen. Now I must wear glasses when I work on my computer and look at my phone for too long.

I do find myself using eye drops when they become red and dry. I also will reduce my computer brightness when my eyes start to hurt. I am hoping there is not some long term damage for those hours on my computer.

Technology does not stand still, our screens are not as harmful as they used to be. Yes, the devices on the market are highly differentiated, everything that is considered budget can still have a bad effect on your health. You've probably heard about pulse-width modulation, but you need to be careful with screens of this technology. Take care of your eye health, take breaks, reduce your load, and do all kinds of exercises. When purchasing devices, always pay attention to the quality of the screens.

The problem is that we are still using our devices even when it is not work related our entertainment comes from tiny little screens we have be it a series we are watching or just scrolling through social media applications and nowadays you can even read e-books through your screen

The internet has intertwined itself with our lives that it is quite hard to move around our world without it now but it is still important that we remind ourselves to take a break and go outside maybe have a walk and receive some of the sunlight and just refresh our bodies

We should pay more attention to our own good health. Good health requires regular breaks and a nice environment with open air. We always focus more in work which should not be done at all. just like food is needed to survive, so to stay healthy and strong we also need breaks from work, good environment and quiet our brain.

No pain no gain just like they said. There is no success story without hurdles. as a matter of fact those successful people where the people with most difficult challenges of life, but they took it seriously upon themselves to make sure they make a difference by doing what others didn't do. For you to succeed you must be able to know that you will deprive yourself of certain things and also you will and sometime you loose a vital part in your body. But that wouldn't stop us from our success journey. We would just take precautive measures. It is good to live for something important than die for a useless thing.

Measures needed to protect us from eye defects or spinal problems .
1. Always blink frequently
2. Take a break
3. Avoid staying in a dark place
4.always sit and balance your back on a chair making your back straight by using pillow to add to your back to lift you and make your spinal cord to be straight. Otherwise you will damage your spinal cord in the sence that you can not be able to stand straight because of always stressing your spin.

Ways to keep us lively to reduce anxiety
1. Try going out for social event to avoid Being weak and tired.
2. Always go out to gym to exercise yourself to make your blood sugar maintain its Level and also to regulate your blood level.
3. Try reaching out to loved ones and family to know how they are doing, sothat when you have issues people will also check on you. Otherwise you become addict to your phone and it will become your life to the extent it will be a God to you over everything on earth.

I am spending approximately 12 hours on screen, I am including a mobile phone as well as a laptop. The reason for this much use of both devices is that I am looking for and applying for scholarships and for that, I usually spend hours searching and filling up the application. Social media also take a major portion of my time because of the elections in my country. My average screen time over the past couple of years is 6-8 hours.

@btc78, that's true. Even it is not longer related to our jobs, we're having screen times everywhere. With tablets, laptops, smartphones and any other devices.

We can't stop digitalization and the need to use the devices that will make us stare on the screen. I guess that it's all going to be on how responsible we are as users.

And about the limitation upon usage of it whether work related or not. But if it's about work, only our companies have the thing to say about it.

I'm not sure about others but I do spend a lot of time on screen. I think some days I spend more than 12 hours a day on screen while normally I spend around 5-8 hours on screen. I'm an avid reader and I do most of my reading on screen. Although, I own a kindle but I rarely use it to read books, I mostly read books and news on screen.

I watch so many helpful videos on daily basis and for those I also need to use the screen. I spend some good time on this forum and other forums that I use, and for those I also have to use the screen. I think life would be much difficult for me without using the screen, I do spend time with my family and friends but most of my time I'm using the screen either of my smartphone, or that of my monitor, or that of my laptop, and sometimes of my kindle.

I spend most of my time on screen. Like 12 plus hours a day daily on screen. Actually when i am not doing the basic necessities of life like sleeping, eating and some other personal stuff, then i am sitting at my laptop and eating my time.
Btw i am a developer and a blockchain enthusiast so i think my time at computer is justified as i have to take care of some freelancing stuff, then blockchain stuff, then my youtube channel stuff and then learning and exploring the new techs. So yeah, it seems justified to me.

We are in a modern world now and technology seems to have taken over as most people around the world stay glued to either their mobile phones and computers and other medium of accessing the Internet in other to gain information that would be helpful to mankind and since we are in a modern world now everything is going digital as we no longer have to be physical with everything we need as some things can just be done on the Internet without stress.

Statistics has shown that lots of people all over the world spent most of their time staying active with their phones and computers and this habit seems to be endangering our vision because the ray of light from our systems and computers tend to flash directly on our eyes thereby affecting the optical len but since we cant stop the habit of always looking at our devices all the time, it is advisable to either use glasses whenever we are staying for so long on the internet or rather go for an eye check from time to time to check our visibility and also if our lenses have been affected.

Bad posture anxiety and many other factors may be due to addiction. Addiction is the reason behind people falling  to such problems. In today's modern and advanced technology era, everyone has to sit in front of a screen at some point or another as all work is computer dependent and everyone uses various social media personally. I am currently employed in a job where all my work is computer-based so I have to sit in front of a screen during office hours and sit in front of my work when I come home. This causes mild pain in my neck and back, blurred vision at times, and moodiness at times. Even when going to sleep at night, the sleep is not completely clear.

Nowadays we all are getting addicted to screen.  We are spending extra time in front of the screen.  As a result of which we have to face physical and mental problems.  So we all should not spend extra time in front of the screen.  Stay away from it unless there is a lot of work.

We've all heard warnings about too much screen time for kids, but what about adults? With many jobs requiring hours spent in front of a computer, and most of our free time spent streaming shows on television, scrolling social media on phones, and scanning stories on tablets, many of us spend consecutive hours looking at screens, especially during the pandemic when most of our social interactions are online. Are there negative effects of screen time for adults that we need to worry about, too?

We've all heard warnings about too much screen time for kids,
It’s because a lot of things are still developing for kids and if exposed to too much screen time then it would lead to a lot of problems especially in the development of their brains. Behavior might be affected

Quote
Are there negative effects of screen time for adults that we need to worry about, too?
Obviously the light emitted from devices is unhealthy as it disrupts different hormones in our bodies. Too much screen time will also cause us physical discomfort in our eyes and body. We might forget about exercising or any physical activity due to screen time.

Well for me I know I usually Focus on my screen almost everyday but doesn't mean that I don't do other things apart from focusing on my screen and wanting to be at the top of the game. Bad posture anxiety and many other factors may be due to addiction. Addiction is the reason behind people falling  to such problems. In what ever thing we do, we should apply caution by using precautions measures to enhance safety and protect ourselves for a better health, because  good health is wealth.

Apart from much time spending on screen anything that requires precautions or safety should be followed, because prevention is better that cure, it's very unwise to do things without looking for the safety aspects because you may be gaining the process and pay the price another way round the only best option that keeps you in-between is safety mostly when there is no means if total prevention.

Children are wasting more time behind different types of screens due to digital technology which damages the brain if more time is spent on the screen of the devices. Their interest in playing sports or running in the field is gradually decreasing. Not only children but also youngsters have gradually lost interest in physical activity or sports which is the cause of their obesity children's vision gradually begins to decline.

work while using monitor or screen means this is just a spare time that you spend in front of the screen?

this is why i limit my children in using gadgets , I gave them Ultimatum that if they spent more than
4 hours a day in their gadget then i will take those and wont allow them again , not unless it is
for school purposes that is surely allowed.

This is such an important reminder about the hidden costs of our modern quest for financial freedom. It's so easy to get caught up in the hustle and grind, especially when we're glued to our screens, striving to excel. The toll it takes on our health can be significant—eye strain, poor posture, and the dreaded digital fatigue.

Taking regular breaks and adjusting our workspaces can make a world of difference. I've found that using blue light filters and staying active really helps me maintain my energy levels throughout the day. Setting boundaries is key, too, not just for work-life balance but for our mental health.

It's a bit like gambling, isn't it? We invest so much time and energy, hoping for a big payoff. But if we don't manage our "bets" wisely, we risk burning out. Speaking of gambling, for those who enjoy a little flutter now and then, it's crucial to find reputable sites that prioritize user well-being. Websites like Aucasinoslist (https://www.aucasinoslist.com/) offer a great resource for Australian players looking for trustworthy online casinos.

In the end, it's all about balance. Just as we should approach gambling with caution and responsibility, we should treat our work habits with the same care. Remember to take those breaks, stay hydrated, and practice mindfulness. It's these small steps that ensure we can continue to work hard and play hard without sacrificing our health.

A lot of people are not doing things beacuse of the screens are getting them. If they are working or doing something else everytime if they getted in social media(instagram, tiktok etc.) they are locked in without non-effiecent time. They are not aware of that beacuse comfort gives them a freedom of choices what can do. It is a big problem in this era.
