Lotto is so popular here in our country that there's a lotto outlet on just about every corner of cities and towns in our country just the other day there was a long line of bettors because the Lotto 6/55 jackpot skyrocketed to P571,554,916.40 or $10,206,337 after no winners for a long time.

I don't usually bet on 6/55 Lottery only 6/42 and 6/45 because the probability is just too high on 6/55 but I have to take chances because of the huge jackpot, every bettor's chances are equal so from not usually betting 6/55 I am betting now and will continue betting until the jackpot is hit,  and so from buying two tickets I'm buying 10 tickets now to increase my chances the ticket cost 20 pesos here or $0.36.

I’m not buying more tickets because what difference it can make to increase my winning chance rate. Winning a lottery is much harder than being struck by a lightning twice. It’s game of hard core luck and the only time buying more tickets to increase winning chance rate make sense is when you are pouring out tons of money until you cover at least 70% above winning chance rate.

Buying a single ticket is enough for me to enjoy this game. This is PCSO which means we have same country. BTW I bet on all of those draw with huge jackpot but failed to even hit 3 digits above on my tickets.

Nah, even if we calculate the probability of the given lottery, it's still hard to increase the chances of winning unless you are pretty rich to afford many tickets plus the hassle of writing down all of the numbers you have used. Well, there's no harm if we try to increase the number of tickets just consider it an investment as you have still a chance to win millions. The logic is correct in the sense that if you buy more tickets, it will increase the chances of winning, but there is one thing. The fact is that the chances of winning are so small that even if they are multiplied by buying several tickets, they will still remain extremely small. I love lotto and also often play it, but I only buy one ticket. Because you need to give your imagination a chance. But only one lotto ticket is enough for this. I somehow associate with your posts, OP. In the Philippines, around hundreds of millions of pesos is at stake in our lottery weekly. Statistically speaking, the more tickets that you have, the more chances that you may actually win the lottery. I tried buying three (3) tickets before but it seems that purchasing one is already enough to try my chances daily. Imagine purchasing more than two (2) tickets daily- such expense would accumulate and I would rather save my money rather than buying those extra two (2) tickets.

Though this may be the case, I just hope that someday, I would be able to experience winning something as big as the lottery.

I know that every ticket has a chance to win so if I can afford it I buy 3 more tickets for $1.08 tickets will not hurt I only bet when the stake is too high but on normal betting I seldom bet only when I have extra money, it's hard to win in a lottery you have to be extremely lucky to win the jackpot.
Every bettor prays that luck landed on their life to win a lottery if I will be granted one wish to win in gambling I'd pick the lotto because you only need to win once to change your life, on casinos you can win many times but those wins are not life-changing if you are not risking a lot of money.

Even if you buy all the tickets needed to get all the possible combinations, you're not getting worth your money because there's billions of combinations and the win isn't worth it. As long you do buy a ticket then there's always a chance or something not could be zero, it is really just that people do really make out those kind of realizations that winning is almost close to impossible basing up on the odds and the tickets purchased but somewhat its not really that shocking or something new that people would really be having those kind of hopes on the time that they would be making out some lottery betting. Let's assume there are a hundred tickets and certainly one out of 100 will get you to the jackpot, and you buy 2 tickets usually and now you are buying 10 tickets which certainly increases the chance of winning from 2% to 10% but it doesn't mean you may ever win at all and the same theory goes for even if you buy 99 out of 100 tickets, stll you got 1% chance to lose.

So buying more tickets isn't gonna increase the possibility of winning in my opinion.

if there is a chance to buy online, t would buy. Its hard to just pass that P571,554,916.40. spend just $3 for the tickets i guess will not hurt my month's pay but i would probably just limit it to that amount. the odds of winning is just too high.

even at such high odds though people will keep on buying. i overheard some time in the past when i was on the train, two girls laughing as they checked their tickets on the paper one said, if she wins she'd dump her husband lol for good.

There are lottery gamblers here in my country who believe in the myth of guaranteeing a lottery prize by "investing" on the purchase of several tickets for a round. There are even youtubers who teach the "technique" to the audience, so they can surely win a lottery prize. Even before this development, I would never buy multiple tickets. The chances to win are so astronomically low that spending 0.5€ or 100€ makes not much of a difference. The only occasion I would buy multiple tickets is when I wanted to get tickets for multiple people for fun.

I think lottery is popular anywhere in the world. Well, it is not a surprise, but this is due to the massive jackpot prizes. You don't need to take the risk of buying the ticket just because the prizes have increased to become bigger. That will only make people greedy, wanting the jackpot prize and buying more tickets than before because they want to be the jackpot winner. I wouldn't risk buying more tickets because the jackpot prize increased. The lottery game depends on luck so even if you buy many tickets, it doesn't guarantee you can win. It's better for us to buy enough tickets and avoid the risk of losing even more money because lottery games really depend on luck. But if you still want to buy the lottery ticket, you can do it. Based on my observations back then when my father was still actively betting in lottery, he tends to bet for 2 number combination whenever he gets the news that the winning prize skyrocketed. One number combination included the numbers he is 'taking care of' which were our birth dates, and the other one just a random number combination which he felt like betting on. And that became his tradition way back which for me, is a waste of money, time, and effort since he'll always go to lottery ticketing shop after work which could be alloted for relaxing at home instead. But I can't really blame him and force him my beliefs since after all, it's his money, and he knows what he's doing.

Having numerous entries will certainly increase your winning chances, however, it will only do so little considering the number of combinations there is in order to win the jackpot prize. It's really just pure luck when it comes to lottery.

I don't really bet on lotto and it had been decades since I last bought a ticket. Me and my wife like to play that easy game which is "Scratch it" where you can claim the prize instantly as long the card has the winning combination.

No, I don't. I only play the lottery from time to time and I don't get carried away because there's a big jackpot. Actually mathematically it makes more sense to play when there is a jackpot if the expected return is higher than what you are going to bet. The problem is that in the lotteries I play the jackpot is concentrated in the first prize or in the first 3 at the most and you can spend your life betting and not win. If we had eternal lives it would make sense because the expected return is higher than the stake and with large statistical samples the real return would converge with the expected return.

Not really, to really make your chances higher and your win more likely to happen, you'd have to buy a lot of tickets and you got to spend a lot of time and mental power to cover all the potential combinations and if you look up the chances of winning in lottery based off of number combinations, you'd just be so crazy to do even just covering the 25% of it. Lottery had been a very common thing in my family for many years. My grand father played the lottery all his life and had a fixed set of numbers he would always play. My mother is playing regularly as well and always pick the birthdays of her kids. The problem is that both of them never won anything for all the money they used to buy the tickets. It makes the most sense for me to only play when the jackpot is very high and then I play more numbers. I always hated the lottery because even if the person bought a lot of tickets, it wouldn't increase the person's chance of winning because the person doesn't know how many tickets other people bought and how many tickets were made by the company that is running the lottery and also the person doesn't know if they really the lottery winner did not agree with the company running the lottery, for example, a few months ago I traveled to another city in my country where my relatives live and in that other city one of my relatives plays the lottery a lot, so when I was walking with She and we got close to some point selling lottery tickets, this relative of mine who plays the lottery bought tickets and gave them to me and even trying to refuse to participate didn't do any good because he bought and gave me the ticket

I've seen people check these scratch ticket games online. One guy in my country even bought a $1k worth of these tickets that cost less than $1 each and they were checking them for days to see how they do. These have much higher chance to win than real lotteries and they still lost about half of their money. They won a lot, maybe 5% of the tickets were good, but most gave you the price of the ticket time 2 or times 3, so eventually they were down close to $500 and none of the 1000 tickets had any high prizes (higher than $10).

Sometimes I make two of my tickets when the prize is big before but nothing happens, so I did it now even though my prize stick is already big for one. Really just trust in God if you get lucky and give it to you. I realized that no matter how many tickets you buy, if it's not for you, it's not. Yes, you have a high chance of winning the jackpot if you have a lot of tickets, but it is still not guaranteed that you will get it, you just have to rely on luck.

I just started recently since it's easier to bet online using an account of PCSO (Philippines lottery) for a person like me to get a ticket.

Tickets matters and there are gambles ongoing which might later become risky for our existence because most of these people they have no clue on the operations of the system. Winning depends on how lucky one will become in the system. Perhapes its not a good idea for one to buy numerous tickets, what's the occasion? It's not a welcome able idea and it's means of buying and expecting a winning, what if he or she doesn't have the end result finally? At this point buying more tickets is not really going to help since the chances are already very low unless you're going to buy so many that it is going to increase your chances to around 50% but that is just not worth it if you're going to buy that much. True! Imagine a large number of lotto bettors; almost all the people in that country do lotto; the probability to win will be too small. Yes,  you have the probability to win, but buying more tickets or betting more combinations of numbers will not give you a higher chance of winning. Here in Brazil, this year we had the biggest prize in history in the country's main lottery. This certainly motivates many people to bet, and I was also one of them, as I bet much more than I should have, and I didn't win anything :P

However, here the main difference and motivator for betting is not so much the amount drawn, but rather because the last lottery of the year is special... the prize does not accumulate, that is, there must be a winner. I tried betting on the lottery and the best that I got is 4 numbers right, and even that has a very low prize compared to the jackpot. I think I only won an amount equivalent to $30 which is a huge gain from my bet but never really something considering the amount I have spent on the lottery over time.

Actually, we don't have to buy more lottery tickets because it depends on our ability and the money we have. After all, everything comes back to luck, right? That means we have to look at how much money we have and refrain from using the money we have prepared for daily expenses because that will create an imbalance in our finances. I've done it a couple of times before when I was new to lottery. Just for an update about this lottery drawing, it has not yet hit, so there, is an additional 14 million pesos or $251k, total pot is now $10,561,610.05 we'll see if the winner of this lottery bought more tickets or just relied on one ticket, I bought 2 tickets today, unfortunately, I did not hit any number  :( I'll update this thread on Saturday if there's a hit.

Yes, nothing has changed if you have multiple tickets or one, I know that the government controls that, they just choose whether they will give that money to people or they will also win that much. That's my belief, everything is controlled by the government. With so many people buying tickets, no one wins and the prize reaches millions because no one wins yet wtf, when the prize is big, someone will win and for sure it will be the government.

I believe there is no point in buying more tickets to increase your chances unless you can afford to buy enough tickets to have a probability of 85% or more which is still not enough to guarantee that you are going to win the lottery or hit the jackpot because it's all about luck. It's not wrong in the first place to expect and hope that maybe I can be one of the jackpot winners even if the chance is that slim or much slimmer than slim to the farthest slim. Buying more tickets is just effective if the lottery type is picking coupons from the users with designated names. But for the lotto-type which will draw a 6-number combination, even if you buy more tickets, it won't increase your chance of winning.

it is understandable that some people have their routine already when it comes to betting as i've known some people who really do their daily lotto betting placing their numbers over and over again. it is as if they failed to bet in one day, that chance may be their chance of winning. i believe such mindset does exist to many lotto bettors especially those who are taking care of their numbers.

In my life lottery is the foolish things ever. I buy lot of tickets but what about luck we can't buy luck that's the reason I leave to buy tickets. That is fully west of time and money. In my life time I never won a lottery. In our country there is physical lottery arranged like big events. In that I bought a lot of tickets just only for seeing my luck. What heppend nothing. So don't bou lot of tickets. If luck with you you can won in one ticket. Or nothing going to happened.
