According to people in my place, the name is a prayer.
So parents often give their children names after great figures in religion and country ;D,
I used to have doubts about that belief, but after I graduated from school and went to university, I saw that many of my friends had characters like the meaning of their names :D,
but this all depends on the parents' intentions and upbringing to form a character that is the same as the meaning of their name.

YA is a parent's hope and dream, the more people say his name, the more that person is suggested to do and be good. Like the name sincere, patient, good. Or Arabic, Sanskrit or regional names around the person.

I agree that character is a characteristic of each person even though from a noble title and regional government, or even from blue blood and priayi, sometimes I hear that good character is not only from the name and nickname but from the environment and association also has a big influence, even an ordinary name can become a person of quality and self-improvement is potentially possible. It is impossible for a person to have no faults because humans are sometimes careless about their behavior. Name is therapy even though I am sometimes uncomfortable when the name is called but not in the context of the name (behavior) ;D

I don't know what's the meaning of my name as it is really a unique one and no one will definitely be able to guess here. And it is not my mom who named me.

But it was my grandmother.

It's interesting to know the reasons and histories behind people's names.

Like what most names given from a christian family , Mine also comes from the Bible i have
just added some color to it as i used account name here  so basically most of us are either coming from our
Holy books or at least from the nature .
I asked my parents before and they jsaid that they just randomly pick a name, nothing extra ordinary hahahaha i just researched it on my own and it means hero with a touch of divine gift
your parents is not a picky one , so they have just pick it randomly when most of us are
coming from either combination of parents name or in holy books .

My name signifies calmness, love and peace. I know I can't disclose my real name but I love the name given to me by my parents. Do you know that some name are the replica of some people's character. they behave like the way there name implies, and some people thinks name has a very big role to play in our life's that's why iny country people name their children good names to attract Goodluck.

I may not know the meaning of my name but I know its origin.   My mother used to love watching movies and a fan of "the gods must be crazy".   The movie is a about a utopia where there is no crime or concept of evil.  One day, due to a twist of fate, a bottle of 1.5 coke fell from heaven.  That bottle became useful things in doing chores like cleaning the clothes, cooking and etc.  Every person of the community wants to have that bottle hence people fight then it became a murder weapon.
The main character, N!xau, took the bootle and went in a journey to find the origin of the bottle and solution to the happenings in his community.

I was named after N!xau!

We are very religious in this part of the world and names are of great significance cause we believe the name you give a child affects him/her throughout his life. Mine's Princess Of Jehovah. Daddy's girl in heaven and on earth apparently 😄

Is that what your username means? if it is then its cool isn't from jason Bourne's name in the Bourne Identity  ;) kidding only but I really love religious name because they seems to be reasonable and easy to remember(but sometimes those who have given names are opposite in real life lol) not saying everyone but I have met many of them.
