You’re right, centralized exchanges are not supposed to be used for storing bitcoins. Move your bitcoins from Binance to Electrum or Blue wallet. I don’t understand why you would add your telegram handle here and promise $200 for information you can easily google, all these looks suspicious.

Electrum would be enough.  8)

Bolded part, whenever i do hear about having those kind of contacting or having some need on dm'ming someone on something those informations that could
be simply be searched out then its not something that you would really be needing to pay for. It doesnt make sense and just like you said
that it is really just that too suspicious.  :D

Speaking about security of funds then its never been that considerable on storing up your money on centralized platforms on which you dont possess
its keys on which you are really that putting yourself at such great risks.

What’s the use of your telegram? And also payment?

If you’re really in need of a wallet and not here to draw people to telegram where you’ll most likely scam them, then I’d recommend you get a hardware wallet for yourself -> from your $8,000 you can get a very good hardware wallet.

Go get a hardware wallet is my opinion, you don't need to wait for the amount to be much bigger before getting a hardware wallet.
Wallet hack and drain has been happening too frequently and also happened to me, you can't be too careful.
Buying a hardware wallet will save you from future pain. It doesn't cost much to get one.

Using cex account keep your coin not actually advisable. You can use it and to purchase any coin you wanna purchased and send them in any Dex account. Because leaving your funds in cex account is like leaving your funds on someone else's hands.
There are various good bitcoin wallet you can store your asset we have.
Electrum
Bluewallet
Exodus
Mostly electrum is pretty great and also do your research about them too. And you don't have to pay anyone here for asking for help. Because one of the aim of the forum is to render help to those who need any assistance. Because here you can meet alot of pro.

I also recommend a hardware wallet. This website has quite a comprehensive comparison: https://thebitcoinhole.com/hardware-wallets

I have, but no longer use, a Ledger, I recommend you find something else.
Trezor is one of the oldest, hence it has passed the test of time.
Coldcard and Passport are solid choices. However, I think that you should go for one that's open source and 100% airgapped, at least. Plus, read for others' opinions too.

Stay safe and make sure the backup seed you'll also keep safe, as multiple copies in multiple locations.

Hey, you don't need to share your personal contact information here, because scammers would contact you with some phishing wallets. Just be cautious and remove your Telegram from your post to be safe. Whoever wants to help will comment on this thread. Don't follow any private message that isn't public. However, since you have a decent amount, I will strongly advise you to buy a hardware wallet that is open source. It doesn't cost a lot, but your funds will be secure. I had been using the Ledger wallet and am now moving to the Trezor wallet. So you might choose the Trezor Safe3 wallet. You don't need to pay anyone $200 for a wallet. Rather, just spend $80 to get a Trezor wallet. Don't forget to secure your seed in a safe place. It's advisable to write your seed on multiple pieces of paper and keep it safe in multiple places.

As suggested buying a Hardware wallet is the best choice and if you are not willing to go for a hardware wallet then consider setting up an airgap device where you can install Electrum wallet and move your funds from the exchange to the wallet.

I’m thinking OP may be a scammer. It’s unlike that someone would want to gift a stranger $200 for doing next to nothing. For the more trusting members of the forum, remember that there is no free lunch in this world. If it sounds too good to be true, it is not real. Anyone who is greedy enough to pm that telegram account will surely be roped into a scam.

You can use a cold wallet, or get yourself hardware wallet like Passport. You can setup a multisig wallet with hardware wallet and wallet like Sparrow or Electrum.

Do not use online wallet if you can not afford to lose the coins. Use cold wallet.

Just like a few people have said, I still support what they have said concerning the hardware wallet. Hardware wallets are the best place to store huge amounts of bitcoin. It's more safe since it's not directly attached to your device (phone or laptop) all the time, just like you can have a normal software wallet just on your device. If you had $8000 on Binance Exchange, you should quickly get a hardware wallet and transfer your funds out of hardware.

You are so desperate to lure people to Telegram and that is a red flag for me. You posted this enticing message (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5482093.msg63520105#msg63520105) with another brand new account telling people to visit this same telegram @leaneek. You are most likely not pure and people should be careful of you. If you are saying the truth in this post that you have such amount, you would have known how to go about the money because there is enough information about wallet in this forum.

It does not matter how much money you have, you can store them in any noncustodial wallet, if you are planning to hold for a longer period of time then I suggest you should use Electrum due to many reasons, first it is noncustodial, as you own the key thus you own the funds fully and can do whatever you want anytime, second, electrum is open source, unlike other noncustodial wallets like Trustwallet which is not fully open source. Third, Electrum does not block accounts unless you do some stupid shit from your end.

And I suggest you to withdraw funds from Binance not because Binance blocks accounts as if you have done the KYC then they have no reason to block your account until you have done some illicit activity. I am saying this because Binance is facing a lot of trouble like in Indian Binance along with other 8 exchanges is banned and Indians can't access it directly. US authorities are behind Binance and they want it to vanish from the market, so it would be best for you to avoid using Binance for holding purposes, but if you want to do trading then I won't stop you using it.

I would just get a Ledger Nano S plus if its BTC only you can get a ColdCard mk4 that is even better.

I'd take my money off exchanges ASAP and simply get a desktop wallet like Electrum. Heard a lot of good things about Sparrow and Blue Wallet too, so choose the one you like more visually.
Make sure your device is clean of any malware. You don't want to move your coins into the hands of someone who's running remote desktop or a keylogger on your computer, right?
Also, don't tell people how much money you have. I don't mean this thread, but I get the impression that you might go around asking people where to put your 8k to make it safe. Just tell people you have a little bitcoin to try it out and want to put it somewhere safe, don't go into numbers straight away.

I would just get a Ledger Nano S plus if its BTC only you can get a ColdCard mk4 that is even better.

Holding on Ledger is pretty much like using a centralized exchange. It's a false feeling of safety. If you're looking for something cheap, Get Trezor One. It costs $60 or something like that.
Blockstream Jade is around $100. Both of these are better than Ledger.

Not just Binance, all centralized exchanges are not reliable to such huge amount of money because you are not in control of your bitcoin if you hold it there "not your keys, not your coins".

You can use Electrum wallet or blue wallet to hold your bitcoin.

You are not supposed to share any of your identity here, and you don't have to pay for any recommendation.

Avoid revealing your private key with anyone in your PM because if anyone have your private key, they can move anything out of your wallet without your consent.

Yup. Many state that it is risky to store large amounts of crypto assets on Ledger, it is said that Ledger is open source. It's better to keep it on Trezor, this recommendation is also voiced by many members here. If you haven't had time to buy a hardware wallet, maybe OP can use the Electrum mobile wallet.

Well you can separate it to Electrum for your daily trading activities, and then Hardware wallet for long term storage. That is a huge money to begin with, might be better if you really take it out from exchange. Even if it is Binance, they can still confiscate your Bitcoin, as what we say here, "not your keys', not your coins".

For hardware wallets, there are 2 best options.

I own both a Trezor and Ledger hardware wallet and can by far recommend a Trezor
for its level of security.

As an aside the Ledger Nano is convenient to connect to a smartphone.

So if you have $8000 it would be very prudent to take $100 of it and invest in a hardware
wallet to safely store your $7900 of Bitcoin.

If you have such amount of money in crypto then you have to consider having it offline. Imagine what happens when a CEX gives a restriction or shuts down just to obey regulations or institutions at your detriment.

Get a trezor or ledger nano wallet that is not susceptible to hacks from hackers and be careful enough to keep it safe.

You don't need to give the person 200$ just use Electrum wallet to stor or keep your coins. Go to the your device and download the Electrum app and install it, then click create wallet, write the name you want to give to the wallet and click next, then standard wallet then new, and click on the create a new seed and write download the seed phrase and keep it in a safe place and next. Then the interface of the wallet will appear. Then click receive, and you will see the public address and copy it then you go back to the Binance app and click send and paste the address and input the figure other Bitcoin you want to send and click send them Wait for the arrival of the Bitcoin to your Electrum wallet. Have a good transaction with your new wallet. Thanks.

It sounds fishy to me That he offers $200 and says to contact him on his Telegram without ever showing up here again, at least for the time being. He may or may not be sincere, I'm just saying we have to be cautious with these things as scams of this type abound. In any case and as has been mentioned, a HW wallet is the best option.

Yes the message and post seemed legit until you got to the $200 part and the telegram. Like others have said you can easily google this yourself. If someone helps you find a wallet, you tip them like $5 or $10. You wouldn’t tip them over $200.

So I am leaning on being cautious if you DM this individual and he starts asking for some more sensitive info or wants you to go to some phishing website to claim the $200. Be careful.

Electrum wallet all the way, if you want to have it on a mobile version, Trustwallet can be a good alternative. I've moved my bitcoin personally in Trustwallet because I've got mine on Binance too for awhile although the SEC in my country is planning to block the service by February so there's no way that I would go for the hassle of having to use a bypass to access Binance, better off suffering from the high fees and such rather than that if you know what I mean. Same as @adaseb, I'm having suspicions about that last part, if you're really going to give someone then they don't need a Telegram to do that, they can just drop their address on the replies and you do the due diligence after learning how to store that bitcoin in a cold wallet, definitely fishy so hopefully the person that will engage OP on Telegram is going to reply about the legitimacy.

Can a Cryptocurrency Newbie Earn 8K Bucks by Accident? Or, to put it in a not entirely honest way, proving how easy it was for him to get it since he just wants to give away 200 bucks. Binance will pay attention to it. I wouldn't want to have his bitcoins in my wallet. AML checks are all around now, and instead of buying a hardware wallet, he is throwing money away. Are there any naive people here who want to believe all this nonsense?

You can use a cold wallet, or get yourself hardware wallet like Passport. You can setup a multisig wallet with hardware wallet and wallet like Sparrow or Electrum.
Passport hardware wallet? Why don’t you recommend Ledger Trezor or something like that?

Please write to my telegram @leaneek
You are easily drawing scammers to yourself.
What if it's just the opposite? The new account in its first post offers $200 just for recommending hardware wallet? Just write to @telegram? This could be good bait.

You’re right, centralized exchanges are not supposed to be used for storing bitcoins. Move your bitcoins from Binance to Electrum or Blue wallet. I don’t understand why you would add your telegram handle here and promise $200 for information you can easily google, all these looks suspicious.
Worth knowing that $8000 should be kept on a cold wallet or cold wallet setup eith multisig wallet.
Well, not necessarily. If someone needs unreasonable risks, then he can store it anywhere. :) Even on centralized exchanges or online wallets, like blockchain.com.

I’m thinking OP may be a scammer. It’s unlike that someone would want to gift a stranger $200 for doing next to nothing. This will be known after communicating with OP in the telegram chat. Any volunteers? :)

Passport hardware wallet? Why don’t you recommend Ledger Trezor or something like that?
For altcoins, Trezor is recommended. Passport hardware wallet is airgapped. It is easy to use with wallet like Sparrow through QR code transaction signing. For bitcoin-only wallet, it is highly recommended.

What if it's just the opposite? The new account in its first post offers $200 just for recommending hardware wallet? Just write to @telegram? This could be good bait.
What if not the opposite. It can be either. Worth posting what are necessary. I think we cover all these already in the first page and why quoting this? It is not necessary at all. It makes it looks like repeating what has been posted before.

Well, not necessarily. If someone needs unreasonable risks, then he can store it anywhere. Smiley Even on centralized exchanges or online wallets, like blockchain.com.
Read the OP again and the topic title. This post does not look like the post of m2017 that I once knew.

If you found this forum, it means you can also search for information about bitcoin storage wallets on google easily without having to spend 200 USD. So you're more of a suspect than a newbie trying to find help here. I hope my and everyone else's suspicions about you are wrong but if you came here to scam, I think you have failed.

Bulls season is approaching and many topics aimed at luring newbies into scam projects and luring newbies into scam traps are springing up like mushrooms. I urge newbies to be as vigilant as possible and not greedy to avoid falling prey to scammers.

That is not completely true about Binance. Binance does not necessarily block any account. unless someone break their rules. or their are some involvment of govt which forces Binance to block some accounts.
I actually never heard of Binance Blocking any Account. and if you are planning to start trading then there is no point in withdrawing them to another wallet.
but as everyone else said Binance is a CEX after all and CEX have their own risks. and $8000 is a big money to risk like that.
if you are planning to just hold those money in form of a cryptocurrency then I suggest you go with a hardware wallet. The best hardware I can recommend is Trezor, ledger is also a good wallet but I heard a lot of bad news about them..

Binance is an exchange and it is not advisable to keep such amount of money in Binance,  the best place for you to store your bitcoin is in a non custodial wallet,  which can an electron wallet or blue wallet. Do not use exchange to store Bitcoin because it is a big and well known.  Exchange image not safe to store Bitcoin because it can be hacked by scammers . It is better to store your bitcoin in a wallet you alone have access to your wallet seed phrase.

It's great that you've earned $8,000 in BTC. Security is paramount, and it's a smart move to consider a reliable wallet. I'd recommend using hardware wallets like Ledger or Trezor for maximum security. They offer offline storage, protecting your assets from online threats. Also, consider software wallets like Exodus or Atomic Wallet for a user-friendly experience.

$8000 is a huge amount, you can quickly buy a hardware wallet and transfer bitcoins to that hardware wallet. What you have heard is true because many times Binance Exchange account gets blocked and causes various difficulties. Buy a hardware wallet as soon as possible without taking such a big risk and keep your bitcoins there. You can also keep your bitcoins in electrum wallet or blue wallet but the wallet seed phrase must be kept very safe.

I can say as someone that's also fairly new to self-custody, Trezor has been a cake walk.

If you can invest that much in Bitcoin you should be able to afford $200 for a hardware wallet, the best place that's safest for your Bitcoin is a cold wallet, you can keep on Electrum like you are been told and this wallet is open source, but running Electrum wallet on your smartphone makes it always online, I believe it will be better if it's offline, find a hardware wallet that's fully open-source and also have high rep like Trezor and store your Bitcoin in them.

The Tezor Model T have good security and it's open source, this is why I consider it the best for Bitcoin, while Blue wallet is the best Bitcoin mobile wallet for me, Electrum wallet on PC is simply the best for Desktop PC, but like I've said, it's safer your Bitcoin are kept in a hardware wallet than on your computer, with hardware wallet you only have to look after your seed, but with computers you need to watch out for malware and spyware too, even viruses.

You always have to know and trust which links you click on to avoid mistakenly giving up control to hackers over your PC, it's not with it, is you have the money go hardware wallet.

You can get the advice or suggestions you need here and there's no need to take the conversation to telegram except you've an ulterior motive.

The safest way to store your asset is by using a hardware wallet. Trezor, passport, jade, bitbox satochip, keepkey are good examples of open source hardware wallet you can choose from. If you cannot afford any of the above, software wallets like Electrum wallet, bluewallet, unstoppable wallet are also very good.

Electrum would be enough.  8)
I don't know about you, but I definitely woulnd't feel comfortable leaving $8k on a software wallet, even if its something as reliable as Electrum. After all, you can get a reliable hardware wallet for less than $100 so there's really no real to use software wallets for hodl. I know I sleep much better knowing that even if my PC somehow gets hacked, my crypto is safe.

I could easily recommend Electrum since that is just what I've been using for a long time and so far I haven't really encountered any issues with it with the years of use so far. It has a lot of users, it is open source and easy to install on your desktop computer. I would totally recommend this compared for sure to other custodial wallets or just putting your 8k$ investment on an exchanger which is for sure not recommended since you dont have control over your money if you put it there.

You could easily download Electrum wallet here  [GUIDE] How to Safely Download and Verify Electrum [Guide]  (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5240594.0). Just avoid putting this kind of money of exchanges and custodial wallets.

Or at some point you could easily invest on hardware wallets since it might be worth it investing for security, you could learn more about wallets here [General] Bitcoin Wallets - Which, what, why? (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1631151.0)

Don't hold your coins in an exchange. You have multiple options.

1. Buy a hardware wallet
2. Download an open source wallet
3. Create a cold wallet

You can buy hardware wallets like Trezor, Safepal etc... or can download opensource wallets like Mycelium or Electrum.
You can also create a cold storage and keep it off the grid if your more tech savvy. There are already many guides on the internet available for it.

Depending on a centralised exchange you can never be 100% sure. You can become a victim for any reason like hack or others issue. If your money is in your possession, it is safe. If you are a long term holder then you can choose a hardware wallet which is the most secure. And if you think you'll need to make regular payments, a software wallet wouldn't bad. Treasure and Electrum These wallets are good for holding Bitcoins.

There is no need for what you are offering. Because here you will get free suggestions by members. This forum can provide you 24-hours support for all kinds of cryptocurrency related discussions not only bitcoin holding but you must be regular in the forum.

Get your money off of the exchange as soon as possible. The coins aren't yours until you are in control of the private keys.

Since you have $8000 worth of BTC, the best combination of security and convenience is achieved with a hardware wallet. Depending on how much you are willing to invest, you can get one starting at around $50 and going up to several hundred dollars. Check out Trezor, Foundation Passport, or ColdCard. You can even purchase an offline signer like the Seedsigner.

If you have an extra laptop/PC lying around and collecting dust, you can turn it into an airgapped computer by removing all connectivity hardware, reformatting the drive, and installing Electrum on it. That PC should never again go online.

Alternatively, you can use a live OS like Tails that comes with Electrum installed on it. The less safe and non-recommended option (in my opinion) is using a software wallet like Electrum, Bitcoin Core, or a multi-coin wallet on a internet-connected computer.

Electrum is worth and enough wallet for holding your bitcoin assets, but I don't get problem with Binance block or suspended user account without any reason yet. Have been trade and use Binance as place for holding my assets more than five years and not get much problem yet during account have been verified and not get abnormal activities with the Binance exchange account.

Personally not secure yet when saving your bitcoin assets in exchange, learned with how many exchange collapse and not refund the user money is main reason more securing hold bitcoin or altcoin assets in wallet.
For bitcoin electrum is most safety wallet and you have control by your self with saving carefully seed phrase or electrum, maybe long term holding bitcoin is not problem saving in electrum wallet but scalping trader hold in exchange more benefit than wallet.

To me this is definitely shady, just asking which hardware wallet is good and then will give $200 in return by contacting telegram, very suspicious.
Maybe the scenario is like this: Someone contacts the OP's telegram to claim the $200 reward, then he might argue to access a certain link (maybe it could be) because usually scammers always have a way, I'm not entirely accusing but this way is a bit suspicious.
Even he can search the internet about the best HW, many articles provide this, but I don't know what the OP is doing is just a possibility.

It’s very suspicious, OP hasn’t made any post ever since. I guess he expects members to pm him on telegram for the supposed $200 reward. I suspect anyone who pms the OP will either be told a story of how the exchange holding the coins is asking for a withdrawal fee and they need help because they do not any way of getting the money. Of course they will promise you a reward for your help, it could be 40% of the $8000, that’s enough money to get a greedy person’s attention.
