Instead I bought me a 5970 :p

But it's just luck. Title: Re: CPU mining Post by: dust on April 06, 2011, 03:34:37 PM I generated three blocks on a 2Mhash/sec laptop back in July in around two days. Unfortunately, I shut off generation afterwards as I didn't see any value in btc back then.
Title: Re: CPU mining Post by: error on April 06, 2011, 06:34:07 PM Did the same fool thing. Generated a couple of blocks last August, and then forgot about Bitcoin for six months. Turned it back on in February and generated a third block in just a couple of days. I was most surprised when I shortly thereafter found out that the difficulty was high enough that CPU miners weren't expected to generate any blocks in any reasonable amount of time.
