Title: What have you learnt from this forum that has actually saved/ you in real life.
Post by: teamsherry on February 01, 2024, 04:46:23 PM
Throughout my stay here, I've seen numerous threads regarding what we should avoid and what we should do to improve our cryptocurrency experience. While I haven't had any terrible experiences, except one time a friend attempted to hack my Binance account and sell some of my coins worth 600$ in bitcoin before I joined this community and didn't realize it was unwise to tell people you have bitcoin.

What I've learnt that has really been exceptional to me is how to properly invest in bitcoin with DCA, I've already been holding bitcoin for 2 years now, but I only buy when the price is down and didn't have any idea that I could buy regularly at intervals to better build up my portfolio, I didn't even know what I was doing had a name called buying on dips. Nevertheless, I have become more conscious of the different possibilities for investing.

I really appreciate and have learnt a lot of comprehensive and accurate information that you would know are coming from experienced lips. Thanks everyone on this forum.

I learnt about Bitcoin and still learning the underlying technology. I must admit that Bitcoin have changed my life completely as I now look at the future with optimism. I've been applying a method of accumulating Bitcoin called the DCA method and through it I have been able to continue to build my Bitcoin portfolio, a way of saving for retirement instead of saving it in the bank. Least I forget, I'm being paid for the signature I wore and that is another great addition to what the forum can offer.

Words will fail me if I attempt to explain all the beautiful things I learnt from this forum, from writing skills to analytical skill and even ethical behavior, this forum is indeed transformational and I strongly recommend this forum for anyone willing to learn new things.

It is impossible to outline all of the important things I've learnt that have real world applications and have potentially saved me from losses or hacks.
The answer many would give is on security; how the learnt to safely store their bitcoins, how they can apply plausible deniability in cases of a $5 wrench attack, also how to avoid a bad investment by choosing what to put your money into and what not to.

Having bitcoin knowledge has been a step I took that has influenced my decision-making to be the best. I had poor financial management, in which I spent my income on things that did not have value, and at most times I had to go back and start over, yet I never learned and still make the same mistake over and over again. Not until I learnt about investing in bitcoin that it made me store the value of my money in bitcoin. I don't spend unnecessary money because I know I have to DCA consistently and meet my target. I am forever grateful to have had this knowledge. Bitcoin knowledge is key and should be taught. My experience on bitcoin was worthy and everyone may have different experience that would also change their live.

So many things learned that I can't really say all of them here , especially when it comes to Bitcoin and its investment, one of the things I won't forget to mention is how to invest using dollar cost averaging, I did not only apply it to my Bitcoin investment portfolio, but also I have been using this method in real life trading, and it has actually helped me navigate more profitability in the market than ever, unlike before when I used to enter the market at once.

My experience with bitcoin and the forum is one I won't forget. If I were to give my response on this topic, it would be so lengthy. I cannot say it all, so I won't stress it.

I am sure there are other topics that are related to this topic OP.

Of all I've actually learnt on this forum, the most important information, that i won't only call an information but an advice is for me to always do my own research. This advice I have carried on and has helped me to grow fast as a crypto enthusiast and has helped me to quickly navigate and explore new knowledge.

With this advice I am confident that I can take on new challenges by learning and even approach different and calculative goals like investing I bitcoin, cause I know to always do my own research.

If I were to talk about every other area that this single little piece of advice has helped me, I would end up writing a book out of it, it's an advice that makes you more independent and have saved me from various pitfalls. Thanks OP really joyous for been given this opportunity to share my feelings about this.

Wow, that's quite a journey you've had with your crypto experiences! It's always interesting to hear how people navigate the crypto space and learn from their encounters. Glad to hear you've turned that attempted hack into a valuable lesson about security.

The DCA strategy sounds like a game-changer for your investment approach. It's amazing how this community has helped you discover and refine your investment techniques. The collective wisdom here is indeed a treasure trove for crypto enthusiasts. Here's to continued growth and success in your crypto endeavors!

I did learn the importance of privacy and security on this forum and also got to fully understand how the DCA strategy works in bitcoin investment after joining the forum. I can equally teach people about this too, so I appreciate the opportunity I had to be here.

On this forum, there are a lot of highly intellectual people on different aspects of the block chain industry, and if you stick around for a long time, you will definitely have your knowledge broadened in cryptocurrency and blockchain technology, as well as in other aspects of life like investment, financial management, etc.

While investing in Bitcoin, you should handle your security and privacy paramountly. Bitcoin is a decentralized asset, so you should handle your investment privately; don't share your investment information with anyone. Also, do not forget the security rules that state, "Not your key, not your coin." If you carelessly hand over your private key to a third party, you will risk losing your asset.

I really appreciate and have learnt a lot of comprehensive and accurate information that you would know are coming from experienced lips. Thanks everyone on this forum.

There are numerous things I have learned in this forum and one that I value most is minding your business, sometimes you see people doing there thing, trolling eachother, using razor to cut each other through words like they have never had a conversation but trust me, don't take a side, if you must talk. Be neutral or better you mind your business so you don't get hate by some cartel. Hope you feel me.

The most useful of the one I learn is from Bitcoin, that's privacy (pri-vuh-see), we dont care much about this enough. I use to be a type of person that like to show off, yea I mean I'm always on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram posting this and that without putting privacy first, I am ready to post everything about me but today, the accounts are deleted, might still be with Meta and uncle Zuckerberg but it's taken from the public domain. There are ways you can use this and enjoy it but not posting things about you, only if you know these companies monetize your privacy to generate revenue. You are your own privacy, guide it with pride, I learnt that from this forum.

I came here as a total newbie so the first things I've learned about bitcoin was with the help of the forum.

As a new investor I was interested in mining, buying altcoins, cloud mining... I didn't know how many scams there were in the space, how many things that are risky or not worth buying. Nowadays I'm a bitcoiner and a hodler and that's all I care about. It took me months to understand the real value of bitcoin and how it compares to other projects.

I'm sure this knowledge saved me from a financial loss and made me save my bitcoins instead of spending everything at 2x gain. Now I'm at 50X and I still hold.

Most of my knowledge since I started here. I mostly read here about cryptocurrency, latest trends, hacks and guides came from here. I rarely use twitter but I read some crypto articles if it is eye catching enough. Cryptocurrency is evolving and on constant growth, the threads here helps me get updated on what is happening on cryptocurrency and at the same time making me earn some extra cash to put on my cryptocurrency investment. Maybe the strategy on crypto investing is what I learned here the most compared to other platforms out there.

The best thing I learned from the forum is patience. Yes, definitely patience. Although I am learning more than that, I love patience because I was very impatient in my earthly life, because of which I suffered a lot in life. But today, because of the forum, I have made myself much more patient, especially in trading.
The forum is teaching me about current technologies, cryptography (blockchain, wallets, key storage, etc.) that I was completely ignorant of. I have learned through various threads how to protect your private key and wallet from fraud.
I also got to know the importance of Bitcoin, although I never had the opportunity to invest in it. But if the creator helps, I will invest in Bitcoin after some time.

Above all, I learned manners, discipline, empathy and cooperation. No problems, and everyone jumps to help with good advice (and that's what I love most).
A lot of knowledge can be gained by patiently spending time on each forum board, which helps in financial and worldly life. Because a board is our educational institution for a subject.

I feel really lucky to be involved in such a place. I won't lie. Although I'm here to make money first, I'll have no regrets if I don't get it. Because the knowledge that I will take from here is not capable even at my age.

Forum is really a learning place which helps us with valuable and accurate information. I believe this place (forum) will not leave anyone empty handed. Although not financially, forums can increase our knowledge base if we invest the right amount of time.

This forum as being so helpful to me ever since I know about it. At first I do know about bitcoin but the knowledge I have about it was pretty poor and all that. But ever since have being this forum I can see this crypto space more clearer now. All I normally do back then is to do some airdrop and most endup with nothing or get scam and all that but ever since have being in this forum have seen the beauty in investing in bitcoin. And thanks to the knowledgeable members in this forum. They have actually made learning about bitcoin easy and fun too.
Quote

That the reason why keeping your asset in a cex account ain't safe. It's an easy target for hackers to penetrate. That why always advisable to hold with an Dex account.

Financial freedom, when you're using a particular system for a long period of time and you seemed to be hypnotized by their regulations and there comes a time you're just open to be under the privilege of having an alternative means to that long time suffering you've been managing, there's nothing else to do than to embrace the opportunity for something new just as bitcoin was introduced after fiat.

Confidence.... I've broken the bounds of inferiority complex in here, which has a reflection in real life - infact, that's one thing about being yourself behind the character you play in here... People get to see you the way you are, and accept you for that -- when the time is right, you'll just keep glowing like never before ..

secondly, I have gotten acquainted with the processes of trading and HODLing them coins.. I don't think I would have Learnt that perfectly if it wasn't for this platform.. maybe would have been exposed to a couple of scams though.

Over the years that I stayed in this giant forum, I learned many things that helped me become a good investor and trader, as I achieved many goals in real life that I would not have achieved without this forum. They were important topics, recommendations, advice, discussions, news, strategies, innovative scam methods, etc., which have significantly assisted me on my journey. Also, being here on the forum with thousands and millions of Bitcoin and cryptocurrency enthusiasts, I learned to become more optimistic and confident in the future of Bitcoin, thanks to their positive outlook on this giant technology, and became more patient and emotionally controlled; I never encountered anyone promoting FUD, even under bad market conditions, as this was a great moral and psychological motivation and mental boost for me. Truly, this forum is a great resource and an effective tool for those who want to learn and gain experience, as there is no one who knows everything in this field.

I really can't number just how many things I've learned during my stay here or the quantity of knowledge I've acquired here, I've learnt so many things about Bitcoin and Crypto at large, before I came here, I've only known Bitcoin to be the most expensive crypto asset in the history of crypto but I didn't know this much then. Just like you, I learned about the act of DCA when I came to this forum, frankly speaking, I didn't own any fraction of Bitcoin in my name, not because I wasn't interested in it but because I felt it was too late for me to start buying Bitcoin, considering the fact that Bitcoin price has skyrocket to an incredible amount and there was no way I buy a bitcoin, I was also very much scared of risks of loosing my money to the volatile market, I felt if I saved up money and bought, that a dip would follow and I'd loose my money. I was only thinking about the short-term consequences rather than the benefit Hodling for long term. But now my perspective about Bitcoin and crypto has completely changed, although I'm still learning but at least I can boldly say I'm way better than I was before joining the forum.

For me, the forum played a big role in opening my eyes to the fact that not everything is as beautiful as it seems at first glance. In the beginning, dozens of new, colorful projects that lured people into investing money were very tempting for me. Having opened this forum, I realized that you can only trust Bitcoin. Also, good people taught me a rule: if your intuition tells you to be careful, you need to listen.

Who would have taught that even our seniors at some point learnt something from the forum, I think k this forum has really been of help to different people in different ways, and of course one thing i have learnt is to be careful around this crypto space, not all interesting offers are true or Good and all that gliters is not gold, some projects come with the best hype you can ever think of and at the end of the day was a rugpull or just another pump and dump project. The more I stay on this forum I've learnt to make wise investment decision and to always follow my guts in whatever I do.

Confidence.... I've broken the bounds of inferiority complex in here, which has a reflection in real life - infact, that's one thing about being yourself behind the character you play in here... Indeed this is something I myself has learnt from mybshort time here, our post and comments on the forum actually reflects us in a kind of way that makes people identify us like that, so I did learn to always be in line and act as intelligent as others to have a better image here.

Many thing, but three most important things I learnt are decentralization, security and privacy.

There's always a case banks froze someone's money, a company declare bankruptcy (stock), someone bought a fake gold, hack in centralized site, mafias in real estate etc. In Bitcoin, you don't have to be worry, as long as you understand the basic principle, you won't be scammed and you won't lost your coins.

Privacy is important because we're live in unfair worlds, some people are unfortunate e.g. poor, working as a street sweeper that get low payment, while some people are lucky e.g. born from rich parents, get a chance to work in high payment jobs etc. When the poor know someone/his friend is richer than them, they will ask for money and say/do a bad thing if you don't want to give it.

Big part of me has learned a lot from the forum and still continuing to gain knowledge and information with the help of the reputable members in the forum. However, probably the best message that leave a big impact to me is that never let your money sleep in a bank but take the risk and invest.

If you wish for a big financial gains and returns, then let your money work until you see it’s making a progress. With bitcoin investment, regardless if you chose to hold or trade when you’re more capable enough, you know your money will eventually grow and will reach a very significant amount in the future. But the process is not that easy that you might have to endure losses at first, but with patience and great motivation, you will achieve your end goal that you have set from the very beginning.

Being part of a big community such as Bitcointalk taught me to be careful while investing or trading and you need to start from the scratch before getting to that greater hight, patience is one of the key role in getting involved in Bitcoin, desperation doesn't pay. It also made me to read more before making any conclusion on different topic, learning from other people's mistakes, it made me to believe that Bitcoin has never been a scam, because that's what I have been thinking since I first heard the name Bitcoin and many more to mention.
Thanks to Bitcointalk.

I really appreciate and have learnt a lot of comprehensive and accurate information that you would know are coming from experienced lips. Thanks everyone on this forum.

For me, this forum has been a priceless educational resource, offering a plethora of knowledge that is difficult to completely list as I jot down my observations. But of all the lessons learned, the most important one is about how important privacy is to one's own life. Before I became involved in this forum, I could never really grasp the idea of privacy. The exterior conversation was mainly on monetary benefits; coin investments and profit-making techniques were the main topics of conversation.

The mainstream narrative frequently overlooked how important it is to protect financial assets and personal information. This understanding has had a great impact on me, leading me to reconsider how I approach privacy and recognize its critical value. It is unsettling to see the general lack of understanding about privacy that drives people to keep their money on exchanges, ignoring the basic need of protecting one's financial and personal integrity, and minimizing Bitcoin to a profit-making instrument instead of realizing its wider ramifications.

Investing in Bitcoin is a future thing, Bitcoin made me understand this, unlike before where price action is a big thing for me, now it's not the same, I have more confidence holding Bitcoin for the long run, because I now understand that this is how bitcoin works, now there is no more reason to panic.

Bitcointalk taught me more about running crypto nodes and also understanding the difference between Bitcoin addresses and others like the deterministic wallets, the bip32 and bip 39, the more time you spend on this forum the more you will want to learn, unless you are someone who is here for something else, I enjoy reading and trying to learn from each threads.

So far it's been a great journey registering on this forum as a member, I believe there is more to learn on here still, so I don't see myself moving away from here for some long period of time.

I have learned a lot from this great bitcoin forum. From this forum I learned what cryptocurrency is and how it works and how to invest in bitcoins and how to trade in different coins. I also learned how to be a successful investor or professional trader. I also learned how to slowly accumulate my bitcoins and be able to hold them for years. If I had not come to this forum, I might not have learned and understood about these in detail. As long as I am here, these things I have learned will be useful in my life.

I learned a lot from this forum from working on bounties to get money, trading methods that suit me, if you know the method of buying rumors and selling news, I use that now. Apart from that, I got knowledge about always accumulating bitcoins, said the person who wrote that when the time comes for the Bitcoin halving, the price will rise drastically. I have been accumulating bitcoin for a long time, no matter whether it goes up or down, I keep buying by leaving 10% of my salary in real life to buy bitcoin.

My first contact with Bitcoin was somewhere in early 2011 when I also mined some coins with my graphic card (yes, that was still possible in early 2011 before FPGAs and ASICs took over the reign). I don't quite remember if I was reading in this forum at that time. I thought I did understand Bitcoin somewhat. I was wrong...

Later when I frequented this forum more often, I realized I knew almost nothing about Bitcoin and its intricacies. This late revelation triggered my will to learn and understand more about technical aspects of Bitcoin, privacy and security in particular. Before it didn't prevent me to do some stupid things with my coins in 2013/2014, mostly due to ignorance and overconfidence when the latter wasn't justified at all. Some have to learn by burning their fingers (obviously me included) and listen to more experienced and wiser forum members...

Don't take other's words as religion, research and learn stuff yourself, be vigilent because if something sounds too good to be true, it's usually not good for you.

The forum has thought me that you should always be patience about everything. Because you see people ranking up and getting merit from some other members shouldn't be something to be upset about, everything has time and when it's your time to shine, you will shine and nothing is going to stop that from happening. You might even be lucky to have a buddy here like some merit sources that give considerable amount of merit. Just write well and do al you know, and don't force it.

From what forum has taught me, I think patience is what we all need in life, in every aspect of life you need patience. However, you must work hard and help your self with good food too replenish with good skills, anything that are asking God to make possible for you, it will come to pass.

Controlling of emotion is one of the major thing someone who's joining the Forum for the first time should have because I know we have those old and new members who just know how to trigger ones emotion (negatively) and before you know the heat of exchanging words would start coming out.
If there's a way to teach some members on how to control their temper I think it should be done on the Forum, like creating a thread where you can read it and know how to tackle it.

Before it was a good idea to tell people that you are an advocate and enthusiastic about Bitcoin, but nowadays, the situation has changed dramatically and you can think of yourself as someone putting into the wild with these scavengers that you'll never know if they're friends or already have a bad plan against you because you've just mentioned that you own Bitcoin. This is mainly the reason why I don't want to tell anyone what I do or I just choose to whom I am saying that I still hold Bitcoin. Because of the wrench attacks, you have to be careful to whom you trust and talk to.

There are few things that actually helped me avoid scams, but the one that I remember is a thread about a telegram account that targeting freelancer so they can lure those freelancers to send some money to a fake exchange. And I never thought that the day would come that I will be the prey. So this telegram account I forgot the username, and the account has been deleted so I cannot check it, they want to order a design from me, not a big amount just about $300-$400, but they say they can only send the money through their exchange because it's their policy, they want me to register to their exchange it doesn't need KYC so I just do it, I make new email account and register, I just want to do the job, receive the payment and withdraw it to my wallet. I always ask for 50% of payment paid upfront and this is the same, they agreed and to send the payment to my account on their fake exchange.

I can see that my account balance has been filled with some BTC, so I try to withdraw it, but when I try to withdraw, the exchange requires me to deposit some BTC ($200 if I am not mistaken) for verification. I realized that it's very suspicious and I remember than just one day before that happened I have read some thread about this scam operation, I tried to check again that thread eventhough the exchange name is different but the procedure of the scam is identical, so I immediately close my browser, scanning my system for any malware or virus and clean everything. I am glad that I read those Bitcointalk thread this prevent me from being a victim.

I think the most importantly thing I learned from the forum is to never stop chasing opportunities especially if you are highly capable on doing that. Don’t just quit just because you experience initial losses, winners do not quit and quitters never win. And that teaches not just about bitcoin matters but certainly in all aspects of my life. However, in order to be a winner, knowledge, skills, positive spirit and a full determination to take some risks are a must.

Bitcoin is an important change in our life especially when I first got into Bitcoin I didn't know anything about Bitcoin. Bitcoin forums are like having a newspaper in my hand every morning. Bitcoin forum created another important milestone in my life especially when I entered bitcoin forum this bitcoin forum fulfilled many requirements of my career especially educational career. Words can never explain the contribution of this Bitcoin.

I would not say that this saved my life but it completely changed on how I was my spending habits during college.

Growing up with a family of 7 with a single dad was not easy. It can be a little bit of difficult if you are the eldest and you have 5 siblings who are younger than you. Basically, I am the eldest of the family and I have 6 siblings in which every single of them was going to elementary and high school. As you may imagined, the priority when it comes to spending school materials are with them.

When my friend introduced me this forum, I thought it was a shallow gimmick. I posted on threads and took it for granted that cryptocurrencies can actually benefit you if you know what you are doing. After a few months, I realized that there was an enormous opportunity for me to earn money online (which is very convenient) and I quickly grabbed such opportunity to at least alleviate my current situation at home.

Fast forward, I was able to participate in dozens of signature campaigns which rewarded me some BTCs which I quickly converted to my local currency. I used it mostly for school materials, books, and for my food also.

While I do regret spending my BTCs back in 2017, I am still forever grateful for the opportunity that this forum provided as it helped not only me but indirectly helped my family as well.

I'm still learning, TBH, but the most important thing I've learnt is there are tons of people who actually can help you to figure out almost everything, and that's gold

One thign Im sure you would learn is to do your own research, doing your own research is the best way to grow in this crypto space, lots of innovation been introduced everyday and even our safety has become an issue of concern as scammers are relentless in their pursuit to get access to our holdings.

Like you said lots of good people to help out, but you must ask questions and I think as a newbie the first thing you should learn is security then how to aquire bitcoin, cause they is no reason been here If you don't have plans to buy bitcoin.
