Bitcoin will only be embraced by politicians and government officials when they learn how to use it to collect campaign contributions or fund their own retirement plans, in a way that has significant advantages over cash.

The process varies in different countries, but the principle is the same.

Or when they figure out how to maximize tax revenues from it. That is basically all they care about. At heart they dont care if a couple people here and there are buying drugs for recreational use.

But the problem here is politicians don't have time beside there politics  ???
Atleast they need some time to study and know about Bitcoin but when they will leave politics they will get time and will be same again as usual.

One thing we must never allow and I mean never is a protocol change, which changes the total number of bitcoins, make it inflationary, or eliminates the pseudo anonymity, overall never allow politicians to change the protocol.

The only change in protocol that I think is becoming needed more than ever is to make bitcoin more anonymous, it is in the spirit of Satoshi, it is in original spirit of bitcoin, and it will help bitcoin win the existing war, bitcoin as is I think will win the war, but it will be a lot more difficult for bitcoin to accomplish and at a much higher risk.

The idea is that bitcoin should be adopted my the masses and that is not an easy goal for programmers, so it is important that for it to gain massive market acceptance it has to be made very easy to use, and anonymous since the average user has no idea about privacy, has no idea about security, etc, so bitcoin has to be made secure and private for the average person.

Even is bitcoin is fully anonymous eventually it will be used by politicians, bankers, and everyone, and that is good it means bitcoin won, however it is different that if bitcoin is turn into an spider web of laws, the protocol changed, and controlled by politicians/bankers, that is something that we have to prevent.

We should not allow laws to affect Bitcoin, specially retroactively laws which in my opinion are not only unethical but illegal.
The current tax law in regards bitcoin is retroactive therefore it is not legal.

It is  true there are basically 2 groups of bitcoiners:
The original group saw that governments could not be trusted with money and playing by existing rules they created a better currency, the idea is to protect wealth and have a better form of money.

The second group, just see it as an opportunity to make money, nothing wrong with that after all that is one of the purposes of bitcoin by avoiding the inflation tax it preserves wealth by a precise and clear set of rules.

The problem is that politicians would like to change the bitcoin protocol to their advantage therefore destroying the currency.
The people in the first group will not allow that, the  onces on the second group are divided since if the bitcoin protocol is modified it will destroy their investments, but some seem to going to bed with politicians and that is very scary since they are the only ones pro regulation.

Bitcoin should be allow to compete freely against the dollar using existing rules (2009), and not create a new set of rules to try to destroy bitcoin,

I will start calling the dollar "property", it is only fair if they call bitcoin property, why not us call the dollar property, and bad property at that since it continually loses value.

Also by bitcoin being fully anonymous it will not only  help the people in the USA, it will also help people in countries like China, and Russia.
It will also help vendors.
