Title: Zulu Network: Dual-Layer Architecture on the Bitcoin Network (EVM + Hybrid VM)
Post by: Zulu Network on February 22, 2024, 05:43:26 PM
Whitepaper: https://zulunetwork.io/whitepaper.pdf

We are proposing a two-tier architecture on top of the Bitcoin network. We use a ZKP verifier, but running a ZKP verification program directly on Bitcoin is impractical, so we are leveraging BitVM technology to enable the implementation of a trust-minimized solution.

In our structure, any program executed on BitVM can undergo verification on the Bitcoin blockchain.

L2: Zulu Network introduces an Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) into his Layer 2, referred to as ZuluPrime. The ZuluPrime layer will be constructed on the ZK stack of zkSync, a well-established, high-performance, and EVM-compatible Zero-Knowledge EVM (ZKEVM) solution.

L3: Zulu Nexus, positioned on top of ZuluPrime, functions as both the Layer 2 (L2) of ZuluPrime and Layer 3 (L3) of Bitcoin. The VM implemented in ZuluNexus is an entirely new construct, unifying BTC and ETH asset types (UTXO & Account). Simultaneously, it extends the capabilities of the UTXO type, enabling the authoring of smart contracts based on the UTXO model.

Keywords: Bitcoin, L2, EVM, ZK, BitVM

TL;DR
Zulu Network introduces a two-tiered architecture (L2+L3) to expand the capabilities of the Bitcoin Network. Combining EVM + VM, and UTXO + Account types, we hope to create an hybrid asset platform that contributes meaningfully to the Bitcoin ecosystem.

Zulu Network is a work in progress, but we are very excited to share our development. More information in the whitepaper.

Looks interesting. I am going to read it this weekend and I will comment.
