Title: Solchat, the future of communication?
Post by: Iamcrypticguy on March 19, 2024, 12:30:44 PM
Okay, I found something interesting recently and I've been wrapping my head around it. Solchat—influencers say it's a new way to communicate with each other on the Blockchain, and it's built on the Solana chain.

You know how apps like WhatsApp are controlled by someone or a company? Solchat isn't. It's powered by users and is censorship-resistant. It also supports phone calls, video calls, and a lot of other functions.

Seeing the latest trend on Solana, what do you think about Solchat? Genius or not?

Not hating on Solana or SolChat, but you can put Solana blockchain and Censorship-resistance in once sentence. Do you know how many times Solana blockchain has had blackouts or has been paused?

How is that really censorship resistant?

By the way, I spotted solchat in the early days when it was just a few cents, I had no idea it would get this big in price  ;D

If they can only support this and make an innovative approach to promote it not only in the crypto community but on other social media platforms as well, it will become big in the upcoming days and I'm sure people will use this kind of communication then always relying on Messengers or Telegram where you are not sure whether your data are already totally deleted or they still put it there somewhere and might gonna leak someday, you always have this kind of imaginations but if its censorship-resistant, then people might be interested in it rather than using their old traditional way of communicating in the internet nowadays.

I think that's the idea. A decentralized communications systems on the Blockchain... Try said v2 is coming..while I'm watching the token on the cex above, I'll follow this project keenly..

Hm I think it’s a brilliant idea. This will definitely push solana up more which is good news to those
who are already holding the coin. Solana has a lot up their sleeves and so far they have been putting out
really interesting projects. They just need to be careful or else all will fail and be doomed.

I really think this is a cool concept and should be monitored closely as it develops.

What should I say to this? The idea of a web3-based chat application like this is too mainstream, previously I had heard of Solcial which looked like a failed project (it was on the Solana network too). People are already comfortable with Telegram and it is very difficult to get rid of the stigma that Telegram is the best chat application related to crypto.

Because of that, I can't say that this is a genius idea, there's no game changer there, or... can you give a brief explanation of the advantages of this app over the more mainstream ones right now?

Utter garbage. Once again, why would encrypted chat need a blockchain? There are ton of peer to peer encrypted messaging services, and some of them are even open source (https://letmegooglethat.com/?q=free+encrypted+peer+to+peer+messaging).

"buT tHe bLoCkcHa1n mAk3s iT m0re sECuRe" you say? No it doesn't. It makes it unneccessary bulky, needlessly expensive and complex and pure unnecessarity of it means that it has less changes for any kind of adoption. Because why would it be adopted over free open source versions?

Greed gets people easily blinded like they did during ico frenzy. They see the product, like someone claimed to have invented a wheel. Even though wheels exist, now they have to exist in the blockchain to work? This must be some kind of jealousity because meme coins are rising. So surely some garbage would make more gains as they have real world use cases, unlike memes. Get a grip people. They are selling you this because they trust that you never fully understand what blockchain is for.

There is no harm in launching these types of platforms in relevance to your project but the point here is that can you control such developments or not?

If you go for the history of this coin the project owners have done some very good changes and revolutions in the technologies but they are not able to control the evolution. Many times their network was paused because of these issues that their system was out of control and they were not able to cope up with their recent updates. So this is a great initiative but they need to understand that providing good user experience is far better than just moving ahead in technologies.
