Post by: hitech444 on March 31, 2024, 01:11:19 PM
Hi,
What do you think about it? Does it worth it? 500GH/sec speed only...

They work perfect for solo hunting low power,  low noise.  Also opensource.

Just make sure you buy one from a reputable seller.

On average running higher freq and voltage I see sometimes 650gh/s or more but you should add some extra cooling if you turn it up.

For the money they are great boards.

Well worth getting one!

over priced. the avalon nano 3 is hands down the best low cost low power miner.

Only selling the Avalon Nano 3 on a crowdfunding website is bullshit. I’m still waiting for my “February Delivery” unit to ship btw.

Full Disclosure: I’m the Bitaxe project instigator.

I do agree the delivery of nano 3 was slow as shit. But 4tb vs .5tb and 150 usd vs 250-299 usd it is not close.

Their product
fucked you
fucked sidehack
fucked Apollo II

btw it also hurt my sales of modded 1 board  s19's with a riff on the BitChimney Space heater

Full disclosure I cancelled my thread that was going to do a comparison of gear above .

And all of us are lucky that Avalon / Canaan is shipping slowly if they were fast it would kill off all of the units above.

Their price point crushes all of the above small miners.

Edit at the moment my asic sales are very depressed. I no longer mine 210kwatts of gear.

All I got going for me are gpu sales on ebay which are good for the

nvidia rtx a4000 , a4500 , a5000

Avalon really hurt small watt low power builders with the nano3

That’s a good point! You have to wonder why they are half-assing the sales. Is production just not ready yet? Is this a temporary, loss-leader product? Maybe a limited supply of chips? I guess we’ll find out. Margins have got to be razor thin with 10 chips in there.

I can assure you that none of the projects you listed are getting “killed off”. More like “super motivated” now.

I'm thinking it's more of a side project for them. They put together something neat and put it out there. If it sold great, if it didn't sell also great not a lot of time & money invested.
Remember they are a public company so they have to have some sort of justifiable reason for most expenditures.

They can also use it to gauge the potential sales for other projects. If there was not a demand they could say no more small miners. Now they know they can sell these, will they now start looking at some things that are a bit more powerful but still quiet and low power.

If the Avalon Nano 3 wasn't shit at the low end, it would be a lot better. Doesn't make sense to pay $200 after shipping to get 50-60W/TH. There's a lot of places where power is expensive so the axe makes more sense for that.

With the nano 3, on low you only get 1 TH/s. That's 2-3X the cost in electric. Also it's a pretty big device for only 1 TH. I do agree that of you wanna run 3-4 TH+ nothing beats the nano 3 but what's nice about the axe is that you're getting a miner that will be "competitive" efficiency wise for the next 2 epochs probably.

There's also new developments like the 0xAxe that have 16 chips, when the BM1368 version is ready to go, it'll push 10-15 TH/s for under 200W.

It is a knock off of the Bitaxe. It has no USB connection and is just an overclocked Bitaxe on a mass produced PCB.

I bought a few of these for gifts and out of 15 I had to return 3 of them.

Point being the QC is garbage on the LuckyMiners.

If you are going to consider buying one of these I suggest you look for a proper Bitaxe seller.

I wouldn't compare the Nano 3 to the Apollo II given its solo mining capabilities. Price per th however is impressive on the Nano 3.

yeah a 400-600-800 watt model doing 25 watts a th would be viable and pretty much have a strong hold on low power gear

I have played around with a lot of low power gear.

Since the first usb sticks of friedcat  the nano 3 is hands down better  at bang for the buck than anything on the market at this time.

Something like that is already in the wild from the Bitaxe crew. It's called the 0xAxe. Has 16 of the S19XP BM1366 chips and does 8 TH/s at 190W

Can't wait for the BM1368 version ;D

Well, to be blunt, I've no idea why they made the new nano.
I asked them basically to make a low power miner a few years ago and their reply was there was no market for it :P
I guess someone changed their mind ...

I'll second skot.
Nano 3 does looks good on paper. On a purely $/Th perspective its very attractive.
Yet it not easy to buy at the advertised price. The price you can buy one today is much higher.
Also at only 140W max, its not much of a space heater.

Really weird that a publicly listed company with access to capital markets will crowdfund a product. Something doesn't add up.

We're still selling lots of Bitaxes, Urlachers and a new metal BitChimney coming this fall.

They are using their garbage ASICs (literally ASICs they would throw away) to make these.

This is why they can charge 150 for them, even the parts probably costs more than 150 from some teardown ive seen.

This is not a sustainable volume product thats why they are not making a lot.

They certain went after all the small miner builders.

I have use a lot of small miners.

basically all of them except the newest Apollo and the Bitaxe.

I rate bit chimney best and nano 3 next.

both could turn a profit for people. if used in a 'free' power spot.

all the other items won't . (well you could hit a block and prove me wrong)

but 7th for 2 nano 3 one full speed and medium speed earn 35-36 cents a day with free power. about 1200 days to break even
a .5 th bitax earns 2-3 cents a day with free power. about 7000 days to break even
a 7th apollo II earns 35 cents a day. about 1800 days to break even

that's if you don't solo mine but have free power. and mine on viabtc or nicehash
