Title: Unable to send money in blockchain.com
Post by: zackata on April 07, 2024, 05:14:53 PM
Hello, I am having weird problem with blockchain.com wallet and I am afraid I have no control over my bitcoin now. When I try to send bitcoin I get message insufficient funds, although I do have 900$ in my wallet and I can't send even 1$. Upon googling this I see many negative experiences in blockchain.com, including this insufficient funds error. I wrote to support, but I am afraid I won't hear from them anytime soon. Any advice is appreciated

Blockchain.com is a custodial wallet since you will need to create an account with your email to have a key to your wallet. There’s same issue in the past here that has a similarity on your case but I don’t remember it end well.

Your best chance is to contact their support since your funds is on their control because you don’t have the seed phrase to your wallet that you use to import on non custodial wallet. I remember they are using login keys to access their wallet account.

Always remember not your keys not your coins. Keep connecting to the support, that’s your only choice.

Edit

I just notice that they have 12 word secret private key, do you already try to import it on non custodial wallet such as electrum?

Blockchain.com wallet has been always buggy and I have read many similar complaints. It's also close-source and there is no way to know how the keys are generated.

Export your seed phrase (a series of 12 words) and import it into electrum. You will have access to your fund if there's any.
I also recommend you to create a new wallet with a new seed phrase in electrum, send all the fund to your new wallet and avoid blockchain.com.

Warning:
Download electrum only from its official website (https://electrum.org/#home).

I suggest doing it through BlueWallet instead. Idk, but newbie bitcoiners I know personally has had better experiences in general with BlueWallet.

Also, Blockchain.com wallet is so 2016. Ditch it as soon as you gain control over your money.

1. Hardware wallets for investments
2. BlueWallet for your hot wallet

It’s pretty straightforward process once you download electrum wallet using @hosseinimr93 provided link. You just need to install it and the import seed phrase is available on the startup.

Just create a wallet>standard wallet>I already have a seed>input your 12 words.

Also there’s a guide here on how to safely download electrum wallet https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5240594.0 prepared by DirewolfM14

Just create a wallet>standard wallet>I already have a seed>input your 12 words.
You should also click on "Options" and select "BIP39 seed".
The next button would be unclickable, if you don't select "BIP39 seed".

You should also select the script type in the next window.
Select "legacy", if your addresses start with 1 and "native segwit" if your addresses start with bc1.

Great.
Just note that you are still using the wallet generated by blockchain.com, even if you are no longer using blockchain.com. That's not safe.
As I already suggested, it would be better to generate a new wallet with a new seed phrase and move all the fund to your new wallet.

You already made the mistake of using a custodial wallets mate and blockchain.com is one of the unsecure wallets to consider using. More reason why you should always do your research before using any wallets. These wallets are not safe for storing huge amounts of funds but people still make same mistakes everytime. The only idea right now, is to try importing your seedphrase into another wallet like electrum just as other members have already suggested for you. Then try spending your funds by creating a new wallet and string them there instead. Always remember that you are responsible for the safety of your funds.

Due to obvious reasons, blockchain.com and any other web wallet should be avoided, but it should be mentioned that blockchain.com wallet is non-custodial and it gives you full access to your private keys.

OP's issue has been already solved and he/she now has access to the fund.

I hope that it isn't another blockchain.com wallet of yours but now that you've transferred that. Make sure that you have full custody of your funds and never use them again.

I'd suggest to use their app if you're still in trouble but not anymore so that's a good riddance out there and never visit them again.

Now that you've gained access to your funds and transferred it, the purpose of the thread has been done and so, you can lock this thread.

@OP, I feel your frustration; this kind of issue is not usually very appealing. I will suggest you just logout or delete the app, re-download it, import your wallet, and try to carry out the withdrawal again, or you can use the method recommended by @hosseinimr93, download electrum and import your wallet, and try to see if the withdrawal can work.
Can you not read this:

No need of using a close source wallet. It is even a web wallet which is not also that safe.

Yes, I have transferred the bitcoin to another wallet now!

Since you imported your BTC wallet from the blockchain wallet into the Electrum wallet to make it clear you can create a new wallet on Electrum make sure to backup seed phrases in a safe place or write them down on a piece of paper once you've done you can open both wallet newly created and imported Blockchain wallet send all funds from blockchain wallet to wallet that you created just recently.
I do not recommend to use other wallets than Electrum but for optional you can use sparrow wallet.

I hope OP  didn't  just make the transaction  to a custodial wallet( I think OP should clear us on this).

If OP is really trying to settle down with Electrum I think he/she needs to know how Electrum  spends its inputs and what he/she can do to avoid  paying huge fee due to spending  of multiple  inputs from Electrum.

Check for guide on how you can avoid making transaction  with high fee
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2848987

Or you can just use multiple  addresses  for your receive
Thanks alot once again for all the suggestions and input on the problem. I have transferred my balance to trust wallet, which I guess is safe.

OP you're  making another mistake ,
Trust wallet in not fully opened  sourced(consider  them not even open sourced), so they are not to be trusted as we don't know much about their  hidden codes, it's better you used an Opensourced  wallet like
ELECTRUM
SPARROW
BLUE WALLET

OP is trying to send funds that is in blockchain. com but won't be able to send that's why others suggested to use the 12 word to import in electrum wallet and that's when OP was able to send. So, the issue is already fixed since OP has full control of the funds now. I think the last thing that op should do is to create a new wallet in electrum and then transfer the funds out from the blockchain wallet that is imported.

OP could gain access to the fund and the solution was very easy. Blockchain.com wallet is non-custodial and it gives you a BIP39 seed phrase which can be easily imported into other wallets.

OP, what I would advise you to do is to import your wallet to another self custodial wallet through your keys and see first if your btc is still intact. Just like other people who have read your complaint have answered you, I would advise you to take the useful ones you think are beneficial to you in this situation and see how it goes so you do not lose your btc to hacker's. After you have been able to access your btc, I will advise you create another wallet and transfer it there for your own safety.

All you just need is a number of patient and it will definitely go through and try to check if you are not putting the fee right, and it's making your transaction not to go to it will definitely disturb you very much so all you need to do is to calm down and try to fix the fees rightly so that you could be able to send your transaction successful there is no need to panic because you will definitely send your bitcoin successful, just calm down and try to ask a lot of questions so you can get exactly the answer you needed for your transaction go through.

Isn't this like a common issue with the site that they have been flagged about for a couple of years by now? Although if I'm not mistaken no funds are really lost (so you don't have to worry about your shit getting stolen or something) and that they are nothing but visual bugs that will resolve upon itself given time. Regardless, if this still scares you out I would highly suggest you import your wallet someplace else, and not with blockchain.com, there are a lot of good custodial wallets out there like Electrum which I have used for a couple of years now, which will not give you these troubles.

If in any case the issue still persists or you didn't receive your fund or something along those lines, I'd highly suggest you take it up to their customer service department and have them take care of the issue for you, cause posting this here wouldn't do anything besides raise alarm and awareness among people, for something that's probably already resolved.

Props to you though for always being on the lookout for your security (I hope).

There are two possibilities.

1. Blockchain.com is showing your balance incorrectly and you don't have any bitcoin in the wallet.
2. You imported a private key on your blockchain.com wallet. If you did so, that private key is not backed up by your seed phrase.

Do you know which address(es) you should have bitcoin at? If so, you can check the balance of that address on block explorers like mempool.space and blockchair.com

i cannot send funds from blockchain.com i get the error your bitcoin transaction failed to send.

May I also ask if you have used any of their custodial services e.g. exchange/swap? Because if for instance, your bitcoins are sitting on their custodial wallet like the trading wallet, then it's not covered in your seed phrase because the custodial wallets are fully controlled by blockchain.com and therefore they're the only one who can help you.

i did not use exchange, for some reason i cannot unlock that despite trying to with my id card and stuff, it just says that they cannot at this time.

also i am 100% sure i have 8k euro left on my blockchain.com wallet so that is correct.  i just keep getting that strange error.

You are right. You can import your seed phrase to ledger.
But if imported your wallet using your seed phrase to electrum correctly and you don't have any bitcoin there, you will have zero balance on ledger too.

I understand that blockchain.com runs as a DeFi and it has a non-custodial wallet but, since it obviously needs to be debugged, a hardware wallet is best for cold storage. Now that you got yourself a ledger nano s, what's the case?

If you started using Blockchain wallet a long time ago, some of your balance might be held in legacy addresses. You can add a legacy address account through Ledger Live by following this guide. https://support.ledger.com/hc/en-us/articles/9068401160221-How-to-add-different-formats-of-Bitcoin-accounts-in-Ledger-Live

You could also import your wallet seed into Electrum and choose the Legacy wallet option.

You don't follow the suggestions and don't answer the questions and just repeat the same thing.

Did you follow FinneysTrueVision's suggestion?
Do you know whether the fund is in a legacy wallet or a segwit wallet?
Do you know your bitcoin address(es)?
Did you check your balance on block explorers?
Do you have any imported address on your blockchain.com wallet?

In electrum, click on "Detect existing accounts" after enterting your seed phrase and see if electrum can find any other used wallet at common derivation paths.

No, blockchain.com is a non-custodial wallet. You have access to your keys and have full control over your fund.

No, blockchain.com is a non-custodial wallet. You have access to your keys and have full control over your fund.
I would clarify that the concept of non-custodial in relation to the Blockchain.com wallet cannot be taken as truth simply for the reason that in the early period of their work before 2016, many users constantly had issues with their own encoding and seed phrase, which was  good only for their own wallet.  This seed phrase was non-standard and could contain 17 or 19 words.  And this caused great inconvenience to many.  For example, I have been in correspondence with their support for half a year now, but during that time the volume of correspondence reached 15 letters from me and 12 replies from support, and all these replies were formal unsubscribes and did not solve the problem of access to the wallet I created in Blockchain.info in 2014.
They are dodging in every possible way and do not want to send me an archived copy of the Wallet.aes.json file, but judging by their own public completions for users, they have it in their data archives.

In any case, this is a disgusting service and you should never contact it at all.

-snip-
You can also check your Bitcoin addresses list with individual balance in Blockchain's "Wallets & Addresses" menu.
To get there, click the user icon on the upper-right and select "Wallets & Addresses".

To get the address list, look for the wallet name that displays the correct balance, then click "Manage" on its right.
Then, in "Used Addresses", click "Reveal Addresses" and read and accept the warning about address reuse.
If you can't find the balance there, switch from "SegWit" to "Legacy" in the tab above, next to the wallet name. (need to reveal addresses again after switching)
Once you find the funded address(es), copy and paste it in other blockexplorers like mempool.space (http://mempool.space) to check if it's showing the correct balance.
If correct, report where you found it (e.g.: Defi Wallet - Legacy)

But if the address is in your "Imported Bitcoin Addresses" list if you previously imported a private key, it cannot be restored by your seed phrase.
Instead, click "Manage", then "Private Key", "Continue", then select "WIF" private key format. (keep that safe just like your seed phrase)
Then import that to Electrum with the new wallet menu: "Import Bitcoin Address or Private keys", then send to your Ledger.
Alternatively, use "Wallet->Private key->Sweep" to an Electrum wallet created with your Ledger Nano. (this will send all of its bitcoins to one of the wallet's address)

@hosseinimr93 i'm not an expert in crypto so i don't know the answer to your questions, but when i follow the instructions @
nc50lc gave me i found out that on blockchain.com i have 2 btc addresses and the address with 0.15 btc is bc1qmsm9ga2ct7ma7m6854jc7kx54a6300vsekh8g3 with a balance of 0.15 BUT when i click on it the balance shown is 0.

still the blockchain mobile app and website show 0.15 btc in my defi wallet.

how can it show that many btc in the wallet but when you import the wallet with the seedphrase in a ledger nano or use a blockchain explorer the balance is zero.

its all a big mystery to me now.

You are right about blokchain.com wallet old seed phrases. The seed phrases generated by blockchain.com before their upgrade in 2016 were not standard and they couldn't be imported in other wallets. But OP could import the seed phrase in electrum and that means it's BIP39.

You are right. Any close-source wallet should be avoided.

nc50lc gave me i found out that on blockchain.com i have 2 btc addresses and the address with 0.15 btc is bc1qmsm9ga2ct7ma7m6854jc7kx54a6300vsekh8g3 with a balance of 0.15 BUT when i click on it the balance shown is 0.
This address is empty and it never had 0.15 BTC. It received 0.01304421 around 6 months ago and that was spent on July 1.

The transaction in which the 0.013 BTC was spent from bc1q.....8g3 contains some other sending adresses too.
The address 19cLH6wxWsWzZfZqyUq3FctW9CXCrYJM1V which is a legacy address was first used in 2018.

When did you create your wallet on blockchain.com?
Did you check your addresses on "Legacy" tab?
Did you try clicking on "Detect existing accounts" after enterting your seed phrase on electrum?
