Jontay Porter seems to have been banned for life from the NBA for violating certain rules.
He was disclosing vital health information to gamblers and was also using an account of an acquaintance to bet on games himself.

It's crazy to think that an NBA player would throw away his career like that. This has also put the bets of many people in jeopardy as now many accounts in gambling sites end up being investigated for potential involvement in match fixing rings that were sharing this information. I see that some people in this forum have been affected too (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5486388.msg63959114#msg63959114). Have you faced any effects from this also?

On the other hand, one has to commend the NBA commissioners for doing such a thorough investigation and responding fast. They did everything right. Gathered evidence, published a thorough report, published the perpetrator's strategy and disclosed his name, also giving him a lifetime ban. This is exactly how any self-respecting sports league should act. I wish more leagues would make an example out of those caught match fixing.

Yup! there's a similar topic that has been posted few hours ago and there's a lot of replies already, maybe because this incident is a hot topic today because it's all over the internet. OP, I suggest you to lock this thread and just read the other comments in the previous topic posted to know more about this issue.
