Title: Local Board Moderator; Your honest feedback here.
Post by: Igebotz on April 24, 2024, 12:55:14 AM
Hello community,

The community has been supportive of my work here since its creation, from my monthly statistics for the local board to giving free escrow services to the community and to fighting scammers and spammers. As you are all aware, the community has been targeted by a small number of spammers, making it difficult for genuine members to communicate and provide useful information in order to promote Bitcoin and the community.

As a dedicated member of our community, I decided to become your local board moderator in order to combat spam and scammers and make all topics worth to discuss. With your help and trust, we will have a clean community again. .

What do you guys think?

This thread will collect feedback from the community regarding me becoming a moderator.

Haven't witnessed how you put efforts to keep the Naija local board members up to date of statistics of they monthly post reviews, in other to increase quality of posts in the local board,  and also how you have bursted alot of spammers in other to keep the local board clean and safe for everyone,  you Igebotz will definitely make the perfect man for the job of our local board moderator,  and having you as local mod will further help to clean the 9ja local board and making it fit for both visitors and members alike.

I am confident in your ability to deliver and there for giving you all the support you need to deliver on your duty as our first moderator, and also looking forward to see more role's being added to you as time goes on.

Having a moderator now, will help this board greatly and having you as the moderator will make the job easy and smart enough with your wealth of knowledge about bitcoin,  bitcointalk and the Naija localboard in general,  so I wish you all the best on your new role.

Once again congratulations Igebotz.

I think you are a reputable member of Nigerian local board and BTT in extension.

I also think you have contributed much to Nigeria then local thread to local board. When I joined here, I have known you and the likes of CryptopreneurBrainboss, Charles-Tim as leading voices.

A moderator should be available most of the times. You have been active in Nigerian local board without reservations.

You are objective as your voice is always heard in Reputation board against injustice, no matter who is involved. So you have a good sense of judgement.

Being a moderator here is something you can handle for sure

Continue reporting posts that are worth reporting on our local board and hopefully one day theymos will see you qualified to be a moderator.

I like the fact that you were not biased to go either for only English or Pidgin as the language we should be using to post. You know that we used both in Nigeria and you went for both. This is one of the characteristics a good moderator should have.

This is a great one as we have been longing to have one since the creation of the local board. Good topics are combined with low quality and spam posts which makes it very hard to see the ones that are worth discussing or learned from.

With a moderator for the naija local board, I believe we will have a filtered-good, clean and informative discussion going on here like we have seen in other local board and general English boards of the forum.

Even before the creation of the local board, your efforts and that of some other members of the local board have been immeasurable. If given that position, I am sure you’ll handle it well and will make the board a great place for all locales and spam posts filtered out to the best.

It's a good introductory development that you as an individual has personally been dedicated for the growth of the community Nigeria(Naija) Local section as this forum is entirely concerned. It's an immense accolade Sir @Igebotz.
While you're subjected to this quest for the forwardness of this community, There's strongly believe that the contents to be speculated in the board would be filtered to help everyone with worth profitable threads for the community as a new phase is mentioned.
Atleast some germs and ineffective posts can be taken under control to be disassociated/trashed in other to keep the board vitally cleanedbajd relevant with the help of your services.
Wishing you one of those great leadership grace Sir.

This needs no thread or requires confirmation from us because you’re the perfect fit for the job. Someone that has forum experience, reputation and on top of that has been up doing the work even without been assigned is a perfect fit for it. But sincere you humility actually makes you to ask, I will say i throw in my biggest support for you, the local board needs cleansing and the Sheriff is the perfect match for it. So I hope Theymos gets us the approval.

This is one of the two major things that this local board lacks, the second been a merit source; which I don’t know maybe it comes attached with a moderator, but if it doesn’t then getting this approved alone still signifies our messages are well received by Theymos and sooner or later we will also get that approval too.

This is a very good step sir, at least within my little time in the forum now I've got to know few devoted high ranked members in the local board and the list wouldn't be complete if your name is not included because you have been an active voice in the local board over the years and to the best of my knowledge, you do not have a questionable character and you are unbiased in judgements hence i join my voice with that of others in solidarity to you being granted the privileges of a moderator as you fit so well in that assignment, go Igebotz.

The need to have a moderator in our local board is long overdue and it is good we are finally making progress in that regards. Like you rightly said, late last year till date have been a very turbulent time for our local board due to massive influx of new members who came with trailer loads of spam. I must commend you for the effort you have put in combating them and bringing some kind of decency to our dear community.  I believe you will do more as a moderator with more powers. Through you we can finally have the group discussion organised in such a way that they become suitable and easily accessible and never mixed up like they used to be. This will be possible if we can have child's boards. Once again, thank you for the good job you have continued to do for our local board.

Our community is in desperate need of this; spammers are almost taking over, and I know (not think) without a doubt that you are one of those who can fill up the position of moderator and keep spammers away.

You tick all the boxes for me and have all the qualities that a moderator should have.

I am a man of few words, but I highly endorse you taking up that responsibility.

I'm totally in support of this, we really need our own local Moderator and this your thread Report Spammers, Spambots and AI Posts Here. (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5483250.msg63573961#msg63573961) was really helpful in reducing spammers especially earlier this year especially from the fact that we suffered from their nuisance late last year. I hope Theymos considered you for this position.

Like every other person have said, you are the perfect match for this position. It's quit a short time I knew you, but I have known you to be a man of principle, self decition and straight forward person that don't discriminate irrespective of tribe and religion. You have judge people absolutely in a respectful, calm and plain manner. For me I see you as a perfect match for this position. And since nobody has declared an interest apart from you, You have my support.

I am totally in support of your approval as mod to look over this community because a community without mod is like a place without rulership therefore I give all my credible support to you.
I wish theymos also use this moment to add it up as merit source as well, since you would know qualities of post that deserves to be merited. Although it would look as if we are requesting much from him but I don't know if he has it already in his agenda to increase our merits source to at least 1 more person join together, this will give an exponential lift for the community in general.

Anyway we are grateful for the first approach.
Congratulations in advance sir!

One thing i know since you started fighting against spammers in our LB is that you have never been bias on your judgement. I took my time to read the reference given to those spammers and saw that you were absolutely right. Ever since then we have seen more of a conducive LB where quality posters ware not free to share their thought. If there is any person in this community that is fully in support on your leadership as the sheriff i am that person. Dont slack, continue doing the good work.

You’re one of the recognizable face in your user across the forum and especially within the Nigerian community/local on the forum. It would be an added advantaged mostly to this spam infested local board to have someone as versatile as yourself with a good sense of judgement, the sheriff to function in this capacity of acting as the moderator of the Nigerian Local board. It would be an applauding of the work you’ve continued already, tagging them spammers and what better way it would be to instill a high level of control when they notice there spam threads and posts being deleted.

It’s nice to have you come forward for this and you’ve got my virus support Igebotz. The local board is in dire need of moderating and I see you fit enough for the task.

I do hope the local board gets separated into sub boards some day, it would really reflect what’s obtainable in other local boards, group discussions, ease having to look up a niche and ease the moderation too as well as reduce spam based on best fit posts with users making conscious effort to create posts that should fit in a niche.

Good leader is not hard to identify and you have shown a good character with transparency, and Unbiase judgement with whatever case you are involved. This local board is over due with moderators and  merit sources. Therefore for appeal to theymos to select you as the Moderator of the board. You have been working tirelessly to make sure that this board is created and also supportive with you monthly statistics analysis of active members in the local board. Yiu have been a good member not only in the local board but also in the general boards.
Therefore we the members of the Nigerian Local Board ask theymos to give you the position of moderator. You have been cleaning the board on your own with others. That is my honest feedback on you.

Anchoring on your selfless efforts to weed the local board off shitposts/posters previously, it is delightful to have you raise the banner on the position of a moderator to the Naija local board as the decision is one coming at an appropriate timing.

With your burning desire for quality in our local community and counting on your wealth of experience it's with no diffidence that theymos will be doing the Nigeria community a service if he could grant you that position officially as it is the local board desire judging from preceding comments.

Judging by your track records, I am convinced that you are the right man for the job. It's time to kick out those shitty spammers out of our community. If they are in need of a man that best fit this job, I highly recommend you to the authorities to make you the moderator of this local board.

Naija board has been contributing to the forum positively and we have been left for a long time without a moderator, so having you as our moderator will mean that the Naija local board is growing and the forum has started taking us serious.

My honest feedback on you without biased

You are a reputable member di local board in particular and also in the forum in general. You have been doing well to make sure that Nigeria local board is clean from shitposts and spammers and scammers and you have really doing your best to make sure that things work out good in the local board and you have really displayed the good character. Since when I meant you from 2022 when we were in local thread, till we got our local board, you have been contributing well in the local board. Dis local board has been ranked as the second most active board in some months now. And when the board has moderator, it will make it more active because most the members are not actively participating in di local board because the off topics are more than the on topics. But the Moderator separate the off topics threads from the on topics threads then people would come and make posts more.

We Also join hand with the op to grant you your request to become the local moderator so that you can use it to combat and clean the board from scammers, spammers and shitposts.

Secondly, my honest feedback would be that you're an honest and reputable member of the community and of course, we've all seen your efforts. You saw a problem in the community and you've chosen to tackle it. For that, I'll give my honest support to you. Clean the board of scammers and spammers, and make it just as reputable as you are.

Once again, thank you for your efforts.

Since the creation of this thread by Igeh and how effective he has been in taking action against spammers on our local board, there has been a reduced number of spam topics from both newbies and those who also post just to fill signature quotas. The neutral tags given to a lot of members as an action taken by him really helped clean up the local board a little bit. I believe being our moderator will also make the local board a better place than it already is.

the board has grown to the level where we are supposed to have an active moderator, a merit source and a sub board that will entertain some of the topics that are considered off topic on this single board and even if we don't have all of them at the moment, having a moderator is also a good place to start as I'm sure it will also bring in more development to the local board and who knows, our long anticipated merit source and sub board might just come through this means.

You have a good presence and reputation in the forum and we're certain you are a good choice to do this job and as long as it's for the betterment of the nija local board, we're damn solidly behind you, boss.

Actually the local board needs to be purged and a moderator is very much need and great effort to push to make the local board a better place. Must of the topics for weeks have been. Topics of no interest but with a moderator countering spammers and irrelevant topics, orderliness will be restored and I support your  action of been a moderator.

Irrelevant post should be deleted and that way people will learn how to make educative posts, that the only way they will learn. Good one and this might open more doors of getting more merit source to this local board.

The need for a moderator for our local board cannot be overstated and I think the benefits will do us a lot of good here. One of the features of a good moderator is a good and an holistic view to issues. Another feature is time, dedication and experience. Sir, Igebotz have all of these characteristics highlighted and more, and he has severally demonstrated his dedication and experience through the statistics and reviews efforts made by you. I wish Theymos sees this pressing to implement, so that we can have a moderator who understands the primary languages used here and to use that knowledge to make more neutral and prosperous forum experience for all and sundry.

The cry for a moderator in the Nigerian local board is not a recent  issue that needs to be addressed, and  seeing the application of igebotz, it gives me joy knowing that a trusted and we'll reputable member of our local board is applying for the position of our moderator. Igebotz has quite a good record and reputation he has built in this forum. He has in time pasted shown the qualities of a good moderator, when the boards was filled up with shitposters and shitpost he help introduce a system that kept the local board posters with the consciousness of making a good quality because they receive tag for shitposts. To be honest that helped keep the local board in a good condition. I support igebotz for his moderator application in our local board. He is a trusted user.

What do you guys think?

You waited too long, I was expecting this from you from the very first year we got our local board approved. There's no way a general moderators that don't understand our language could do a better job than a native apeaker of pidgin to moderate the local board. E no too matter the language wey we dey use here sha as I believe local board moderation no dey about language but managing spam and the users of the local board. Big man theymos you no need to look any further as na him (Igebotz) wey we choose from the very beginning say make him handle our board based on unto say na him be our sherrif for here. Already him been dey managed things small small on him own without been entrusted with the task and as you make am official, him go run the matter well.

Congratulations in advance Botz and I believe you go tackle the spam wey dey make way into the local board well. I don't think there's going to be any users that will not stand for him (Igebotz). You have the support of the whole local board users as it's for our own benefit that a Nigerian managed the local board.

@Theymos incase you dey see this thread no forget to look into our Proposal For Naija (Nigeria LB) Sub-Boards Creation (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5473185.msg63118313#msg63118313) and an increase in source merit allocation to help balance everything for here.

The board really needs moderator, someone that can be able to look after the board and i don’t think there is a better person than Igebotz. You have been doing a good work for the board and the forum at large and we all appreciate the little things you have done andd how you have been trying to fight spam in the board.

When there was no too many spam posts i was quite active in the local board and things was a bit more interesting but then suddenly the rate of spam increased and i got a bit more discouraged to communicate here although i always visit the board and read some interesting topics i am able to find. I have always wanted a moderator for this local board so as to reduce the level of spam and i hope Igebotz get approved to become a moderator for the board because he has proven to us that he is capable and he cares about the success of the board.

Since the creation of the local board, some concerned persons have taken it upon themselves to be reporting spams and shit posts, which sometimes may be handled and sometimes are not. The language barrier has always been a problem for a foreign moderator to decide if a post is spammy or low quality, especially if it's written in Pidgin.

I know how much you cherish the LB and the effort you've made in getting rid of spams, AI generated and shit posts (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5483250.msg63573961#msg63573961). Based on your reputation on the forum and your activeness in busting scams and reporting spams in the gambling board, I think if given the opportunity to fill in as the local moderator, I'm sure you'll do a fine job. You're the one whom the cap fits and you've my full support.

You have contributed a lot of positive things to this community Igebotz, that made many Nigeria members to show interest in the local board to enjoy what other users are enjoying in other local board.

You have been doing the work of moderator over some years now,  to help people to improve in quality post without you be appointed as the Nigeria local board moderator, but you want the progress of your people so that the community will be known for good which many other foreigners has came here to see what is happening here and they have praised the local board for always do the right thing.

I guess themos will surely hear our cry very soon, to give us moderator and more merit sources to make the work easy for the senior members to continue dealing with scammers and spammers for users to continue promoting BTC in the community.

Goodluck bro, the local board needs a local moderator, just the same way it needs a few child boards. I don't know if Theymos is ready to give us our own local moderator yet or if you have had discussions with him privately about it, nonetheless, you'd make a good local board moderator if he decides to choose one, and there are one or two other Nigerians that are also fit for the role, if they are interested of course.

I will like to emphasize on this here, just like wetin op talk for the second paragraph, naija board need to dey discuss more on Bitcoin discussions make we for fit understand and promote Bitcoin. I believe na when users go outside Bitcoin discussions na shitpost drama start

I don't have too much to say again and all what I have to to say you are much more qualify for the Moderator position. You have done well, you fought a good fight, you have contributed well, you have clean the board well without being the moderator. You always make sure that Naija Local Board is always Spam free, scam free and finally shitpost free. And also you are active in the board because even though the person is Nigerian and he is not active.in the local board, he is not qualified to be the moderator but you always active in the local board to see things by yourself. Therefore I also join hands with others to ask theymos to give you the moderator position in the local board.

Perhaps I have not been in the community for much long time as most people but with the few occasions I have come in contact with your prestigious moderating style I think your are good to go.

Biases is a red flag for a moderator which I don't see in you as at when I noticed a spammer in the local board and you tagged those accounts for this you're highly recommendable as a moderator here.

More efforts should added to elevate the local board. However I wish you the best of luck in your goal attainment.

I think the Moderator can delete post, ban account, edit post, move post, and create sub-boards in the locality or where he is moderating. I think anything here will be handled by the moderator and not to report it to the Global moderators again. He is to clean and carry out any report a member make in the local board. Once you report a spam posts, shitpost, he will get di alert and take action immediately. And also work hand in hand with the admin and the global moderators.

Local board moderators go dey delete spam posts wey dey for their local section, e no go make sense say dem go dey report am elsewhere. Abeg e get anything like general local boards moderator, i never read such a thing for this forum and i no sure say e dey exist. We really need a local moderator in our local section, and if we get that one, na child boards go be next on the agenda.

I wouldn’t say much but,

You are one Nigerian that have attained much prominence on the forum, have got a sound idea of what the forum is about, keen eye to note what need be noted and the courage to handle cases unbiasedly.
Having you, Igebotz A.K.A Sheriff, a Nigerian to be in charge of the moderation of the Nigerian local Board would be a credit to not just the Local board itself but the forum.

I greatly endorse you for this position and function.

Since you have been reporting spam post and scammers on the forum for a long time, this shouldn't be something hard for you to be able to take as a responsibility, which i believe that you will help in making the sanity of the local board more than better than ever before, there i s not doubt about it that we are having some already who are posting in off topics, spam posts and scam and the one also annoying are the category of those using AI to make posts, all this will be properly maintained and controlled, wish you all the best.

Yeah, we need a moderator and I think you're a good fit for it, you're an easy going and disciplined person. I think your being the moderator will favor us in many ways from ensuring quality engagement in the board,  repelling spammers and overall upgrade to the recognition and standard of our local board. I've seen your efforts and I recommend you.

We need more than a moderator in this local board, it will please me personally if @cryptopreneurbrainboss monthly merits allocation is increased to at least 500 so that more quality posts can be adequately rewarded without we  regularly involving other merit sources to help us.  Our child boards approved for posting specificity. I wish @theymos would grant these our wishes so we can be more comfortable with in our local board activities. We're getting better everyday and very soon, our prayers of today will be or reality.

Straight to work right away, i love this idea, this simply means that your selection was definitely a right one. The single board wasn’t even my concern before, but the amount of unnecessary threads that you regularly see up instead of useful or educative threads. Right now moving those threads to off topic will actually make the board clean not just for we the community but also for visitors. This could lead to a potential approval of merit source(s).

Once again congratulations boss, this is a giant stride to the community

What do you guys think?

This thread will collect feedback from the community regarding me becoming a moderator.

First things first, I want to take out time to congratulate you on the position. We have discussed it a couple of times in the board which is why I'm glad that it has become our reality. I'm absolutely in support of it. As someone who is a big fan of your work and the community, it's nice to have someone like you to keep conversations nice and tidy around here.

I have a QQ: If there's any post we think might need your attention, how do we report them to you? The "report to moderator" link should suffice I guess.

This is proof that am been inactive in our local board
Never knew we had a moderator until today because a thread of mine was deleted(imagine my shock that it was by a moderator, I even thought I might have posted in Bitcoin discussion)
and I have no idea why it was.
Clarifications would be appreciated to prevent future occurrence. Thanks.
