Title: What to do to get merit reward?
Post by: Aniel Jay on May 06, 2024, 09:30:06 PM
Hello everyone, I have been here for a few weeks/months now but I'm yet to receive "merit" so I'm just worried, please can someone tell me what I will need to do or how long I will need to be here for before I get merit and other rewards?

This is the wrong board to make this kind of post.

move the thread to “beginners and help” board and you would be able to get some useful responses there.

To paraphrase, this is what you need to do to receive merits - make high quality posts and replies. If a user likes it and wants to say think you, encourage you, agrees with your point, and even disagree with your point, they can give you merits for it. If you want to move up the ranks you need merits.

For you now, your neutral tag says you write with the assistance of AI. You won't get any merits if you continue doing so as no user will want to encourage that behaviour which is against forum rules where you do not state that you got assistance from an AI software. Start from there and improve on your post quality and in a matter of time, you will be recognized for this and awarded some merits.

Look at this inforgraphics on merits to help you better understand -

Don't post for merit - don't chase it. It will come to you naturally if you engage in fruitful discussions.

or how long I will need to be here for before I get merit and other rewards?
Merit is given based on the content of your post and not based on your longevity in the forum. If a member find it useful or valuable then there's a high chance that you'll be given one.

Wrong board, and you should start with that analyzing which is the correct board to post your thread.

Why you're worried about it? Just post your stuff, what you feel, what you like and get into the topics that you are interested. Don't force yourself to post for merits.

how long I will need to be here for before I get merit and other rewards?
Don't think about that, stay because you're here until you can and we're all waiting for Bitcoin's continuous adoption as sky is the limit of it and in short, there's no definite time until when.

First this is a beginners and help  board link which is best suitable for your thread. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=39.0.
Secondly I would be interested to know the primary why you are here, what you think Merits could be and why you needed the Merits.

I can actually understand how you feels but it is high time we don't dispute the main point in time why this Bitcointalk platform was implemented which is to speculate, discuss and learn about Bitcoin in general as much as crypto discussions as a whole.

You will receive merit for your good posts. The first thing you need to do is checking your post history, see your posts are quality and helpful or not. If they are not helpful, not quality enough, it makes sense that these posts did not receive merit.

Learn and improve your knowledge, then posts, make them more helpful, you will get merit in future.

First by stop asking merits for rewards. Merit begging isnt encouraged and prohibited you could be banned if proven you did.

Its not about time or longer you stay here. Merits are awarded by a really quality post. So If I were you I might  do some good post and improve your topics.

Merit begging is not encouraged by admin as written in the announcement of merit system and by community members.

I really don't think merit begging will cause an account ban except if you do it in PMs and do it many times and many forum members report your PMs.

Writing helpful posts is not so hard and making many good posts will help to increase chance to be seen by forum members and receive more merit.

Do not beg for merit excessively.

Getting merit is not calculated by how long you spend time or how often you are active in the forum. When you are able to produce quality posts and other members are interested in the posts you make, merit will be available to you right away. Quality posts are subjective in nature, someone will judge whether they are quality or not according to their own point of view, quality posts must have several criteria such as informative, constructive and innovative. When you are able to produce posts that meet these criteria, other members will probably appreciate your posts with merit.

@OP you need to work harder than other people because you already get a neutral feedback for AI usage, sometimes people give merit after checking the user's last active, merit history or the profiles feedback.

jokers10   2024-04-10   Reference   Aniel Jay uses AI bot for posting. Passing off others' words as your own is shady. So I suppose dealing with this account can be risky.

First by stop asking merits for rewards. Merit begging isnt encouraged and prohibited you could be banned if proven you did.
When did "asking" turns to be "begging"? @OP didn't ask people to give him merit. Also it's wrong someone could get banned for merit begging, you only get negative feedback for that.

For now, first, you have to stop using AI to write content. You have already gotten Neutral feedback. But, it is evident that you are a new member and have been trying to get a merit no matter how. You may have thought that writing AI content may help you earn merit, but it didn't work for you. Unfortunately, even if it works, it isn't worth risking your reputation just for a few merits.

There is no estimate of when you will earn merit. Just engage in conversation where you are interested and share your point of view. Share something informative that may sound good. Engage in your local community if possible. I would give you merit if you did not have the neutral tag for AI posting.

In addition to all you've been told in relation to getting merit, let me add my two cents. Just be true to yourself while making posts. Don't post to get merit in mind. Just do your regular posts but with clear understanding of what you're writing on. Don't pander to anyone. Meriting posts is subjective. Even when your posts are constructive, it doesn't mean they will be merited. It depends on who's reading them and their state of mind at the time of reading. Whatever posts you make, try to make them achieve a purpose of contributing to the topic of discussion in a bid to solving a problem. Do your best on that and leave the rest to chance.

Maybe it shouldn't be rushed, you are here on this forum to learn and act accordingly. Also follow the rules of this forum carefully and refrain from doing anything that this forum does not allow. Please refrain from posting using AI as this forum never accepts postings using it.

By merit is meant the award of a good post. Posting alone does not earn merit. High quality and informative posts are required to get merit. The amount of time you spend on this forum may not depend on whether you get merit or not. But if you post quality post here then maybe you can get merit from there. Also, if you create a post that is topical or educational, then someone can give you merit as a reward for that post.

On here, some posts are made in the hope of getting merits while some are created out of genuinity, the fact side of this is people will see through it, my dear friend my advice is to be a realistic.

Don't fake anything on here, drop your opinions, and write just like the way you feel even if it will look bad in the face of many, your words define who you are and the truth is always not so friendly.

Forget merits, engage in discussion, this will reveal your intention on here, and merits will find you when it is right, some opinions will touch some members and they will have no other choice than to send you merits.

Remember, be the real you.

Instead of asking about how to get a merit why can’t you ask how to learn more about the forum and understand more so that whenever you make a good post you can get merit, merit is not just giving to someone like that, you have to make a good post or make a good reply that will attract people attention and make them give you merit, merit is like a reward given to someone as a good work done, I did not say you asking about it is a bad idea but you have to understand the forum before participating in any activities, and also coming to the forum is not only about having merit, it’s also about learning more and having a conversation about cryptocurrency, the way you sound like this many people will think you join the forum because of another purpose not because of knowing about cryptocurrency because you are asking about merit which is very difficult to have if you don’t understand the anything in the forum most especially about cryptocurrency.

There's nothing you need to do to get a reward except to just engage here in the community. Participate in topics that interest you or that you're passionate about. You can ask questions if there's something you want to know related to the discussion. No one can say when or how long it will take for you to get merit because that depends on how constructive your posts are. Don't think about merit because it will come naturally if your posts deserve it, whether they have quality or not.

To receive merit, you must understand the topic on which you want to publish your post. But your posts are often full not of your thoughts but of excerpts of phrases that the GPT chat uses to create texts. Your reputation as an AI spammer will stay with you, and it's hard to say whether someone naive will give you merit for it. If you don’t know what to say, it’s better to remain silent and pass for smart. But copying other people's texts AI will one day screw you over, and you will be blocked for plagiarism.

you can make quality posts and then submit them to the merit application thread on your local board (there should be one). and again, your account is only 2 months old, there's no need to rush to get merit, just improve your posts first and increase discussions with other users, later you will also get merit. and never make posts with AI, this is a forum for humans to discuss, not a place for artificial intelligence to talk.

You first gain experience by spending time in bitcoin forum and keep learning many things you don't know from this bitcoin forum, you will see that once you are able to share your valuable opinion here through your post.  When something valuable can be shared through your post then you will get merit according to your merit for which you need to be patient first and you will be successful in future.

I checked your profile, and I see that you are very active and posting on the gambling board. which means you are only discussing football, which is also not against the forum rules. But if you want to go higher and earn merits, you must post high-quality content here, and people will reward your post by sending you their merits. So the thing is that there is no specific time to start earning merit; you can even register for the forum today and earn merit the same day.

I think you should learn because I can see your posts are not what the community needs from you at the moment. You can’t even post on a specific board, just like this post, and now you later move it here, so I think you have a lot to learn before you start posting.

Hmm just participate in the natural discussion take part in debates, and mention your thoughts someone will oppose and someone will appreciate, and in appreciate you'll get the merit rewards, TBH if you post something good merit sources notice it and instantly merit those posts, TBH in my entire journey I've got merits on even those post from where I wasn't expecting such as I've trolled someone and a merit source checked it and my troll was making sense he merited me.

IF you do participate in the discussion of your thread I can guarantee you that there will be no need for creating such a thread.

I sincerely under your post which is coming from someone who have had 47 posts yet no merit. A close look at your profile will easily show why you have not gotten any merit. First, you just registered in March of this year which is less than two months, this is a short interval of time to learn about how the forum works, the rules and how to post to earn merit. Majority of us spent months trying to figure out how the forum works and earning merit was the last thing on our mind. So give the forum time, keep learning how the forum works and don't stress yourself trying to make posts that are not within your level of understanding of blockchain, this being the reason some people resort to using AI, don't do it so that your account will not be nuked.

Secondly, most of your post are in the gambling board, that is a low merit board that will rarely earn you merits. If you want to see some improvements in your situation, engage more in the other boards, and you must do that appreciating the fact that you are a newbie, so don't try to act like a legendary when you are a beginner.

Finally, you will make much progress when you settle down to do more of learning than posting because that will shift your attention from merit to knowledge and that is when the merit will start flowing. We all are basically rewarded with merits for our contribution through knowledge, so seek knowledge and merit will be the reward.

Yes I didnt say OPs doing that. Ive just reminded OP that dont ask for merits and just continue to post good topics or response to be able to get merits.

A user commented that merit begging cant be banned or not in the rules otherwise but Ive read it before somewhere that it also could get banned if ocntinously done. But not so sure though.

Same with OP you just need to provide something valuable opinions which can contribute to the discussion since once people could able to read that you have valid points regarding on what topic has been discuss then provably there would be some people will send you some merits.

Also its understandable for some time that you didn't get a merit since for sure you are confused about how this forum works since constant researching will helpful and for sure you can figure out later on on how people could earn their merits when you have good experience to deal with people everyday in this forum. Don't get pressured about not getting a merit since you could write a quality post if you are eager to do good research on each topic mentioned on a thread and you could easily summarized and give good suggestion which can help other people to understand something they don't know and if people would like those actions you provide then provably that's how you can earn your merit.

Don't worry about it. Some people have not received merit here for years. :)

You will receive merit when the time is right (your posts will be constructive, useful, or attention-grabbing).

please can someone tell me what I will need to do or how long I will need to be here for before I get merit and other rewards?
Counter question: Why do you want to receive merit? Do you understand the purpose of this? How much merit do you want to receive? 1, 2, 7? If you are interested in the ranking system, then your goals should be 10, 100, 250 and 1000 merits received.

It's up to your actions (and luck, and what you can offer to the BTC-community) how long you'll have to stick around to earn merit.

In any case you can't expect anything good until you become proficient.  Just like you can't expect to get a good job if you have a formal degree but don't have skills, skills won't be acquired unless someone can have an informative discussion and people can learn something from your posts in this trade.  And for that there is no substitute for education.  Hope you can do well.

Merit is not difficult to get as long as you know how to get it, you have to try to produce quality posts to get merit. Other members will appreciate your posts if they are considered quality, but don't expect too much from the posts you produce because assessing a quality post is very subjective. So do what's best for the forum, such as producing quality, informative and innovative posts, let other members assess your posts, they will appreciate it with merit if they like it.

The first thing you can do is grow your knowledge. You can start by reading a lot of topics.
Next, don't use AI to create topics or replies. You have been detected using AI and your account could be ignored by other users. get rid of that habit.

and next, there is a thread that provides a challenge to do something and you will get some merit.
create good habits in your posts. I don't blame those who are oriented towards getting Merit to move up the rankings. but what is more important is to see how big your efforts are.

These type of replies threatens newbies and make them feel like here is so difficult to cope. Please make your replies lenient and not blow them out of proportion. Merit begging doesn't lead to ban, even scam doesn't lead to ban. Besides OP didn't beg for merit. Maybe they have been seeing people with lots of merits and wonder if there are activity to be completed to be awarded merits.

That's a good question, I remember when I was a newbie, there were threads a newbie will complete some tasks and receive merits.

Op you are a newbie and that means you are just coming as a newcomer to the forum which you don't know anything about therefore you are here to learn so what you have to do now is to read other people posts and comments to know what they're talking about. That should be the first step of any newbie and not rushing to create threads to rank up or fetch merits. Then the second thing to do is to educate people what you have learn. In addition let me summarize everything, you are here to learn because you don't know what is bitcoin is all about and when you have learned, then you have to teach others who are new in the forum that will ask this the same question.

I think others have said the same thing in the past and now. So just follow the instructions and you can achieve your goal here.

You're not making post because you want to get rewards and there is non to reward you for that, when you have acquired a certain level of knowledge and experience, then you could make quality contributions and from there, you can receive merits from people and if any opportunity should comes out whereby you meet the requirement for, you can apply, receiving merits is not by how long you have stayed on the forum, its by the level of the quality post you have made in which others feels deserve receiving merit.

Op just like you said that you have been active on the forum, this topic has been discussed over and over in this forum, and so many answers have been given and so many advice have been given too by the high ranked members so try as much as possible to explore the forum and you will definitely see answers.
however, earning merits is very vital in the forum because it will help you grow in the forum, the forum is comprised of different ranks from newbie to legendary members and each of these ranks are attained by number of merits and merits are earned by the quality of your post. if you have been on the forum and you have not earned any merit at all, kindly consider checking your post and take your time to explore the forum and read some threads made by some high ranked members so you will understand how to make quality post. i will also advice you as my fellow newbie not to rush to earn merits now, kindly keep reading more of threads now, so you can see how constructive post are made , and try as much as possible to contribute positively in any discussion that you engage in , on the forum and merits will come when you don't expect it,  because i believe that what you need now is to learn much about the forum rather than seeking to earn merits because once you know more about the forum merits will come in due time.

Here are some things you need to do to start receiving merit from the forum:
1) improve in quality post: This is the reason you are lacking in the merit aspect OP, because you lack quality post but if you can improve in quality post, you will begin to receive merit that will make you to rank up to member or full member in the forum.
2) continue reading anything that related to cryptocurrency: if you can continue reading and studying anything that related to cryptocurrency, you will receive merit, because through your comments or reply will make users in the forum to know that you have red to display quality post and you will be rewarded.
3)You must be active in the forum: You want to receive merit from the forum, you must be active when displaying the quality post, because if you are not active in the forum, it will make users to understand that you are posting to earn merit which it will be difficult for users to merit you until you remain active in the forum.

I gave you a head start and sent you your first merit.

What do you need to do to get merits ? In my opinion the best way is to post constructive responses and try and help as many people as you can.

If I see someone needing help in a post and a member goes out of their way to help them , usually I will give a merit or two because we need more members like that.

Hello everyone, I have been here for a few weeks/months now but I'm yet to receive "merit" so I'm just worried, please can someone tell me what I will need to do or how long I will need to be here for before I get merit and other rewards?
Merit is just an award for members who can really provide something for other members.
For example, there is another user who has an open thread asking something, you can answer it as best as possible until the OP is really helped by your answer. But still don't expect to get merit for your answer. understand that, helping others is more rewarding than just getting merit.

92% of your posts are on gambling discussions, 3% on gambling and 3% on beginners & help boards. What I can tell you is to improve the quality of your posts on other boards that can be useful for other users.
The way to do this may be that you need to involve yourself in discussions that can present solutions with your unique thinking.
It's not a matter of how long it takes you but how strong your desire is to master scientific fields that are informative and other things.

Merit turnouts on those boards is so slow so maybe if he really interested to gain merits then he should go on boards that talk about more technical discussions of bitcoin and everything helpful to other people since maybe from their they would able to get some merits especially if they can share some knowledge that can help people there.  But I really don't think its necessary to aim for merits since this is just needed to make your account rank up. What's really important is to gain a lot of knowledge since there's more to gain from that if they became more knowledgeable user of this forum. They should not look only for signature earnings since they can only earn few bucks here compare if they learn technical skills especially on trading then provably they can earn a lot of money there and to other earnings activities they could able to participate.

It won't take long for you to get +1 merit or more if you are able to produce constructive posts, information and generate discussions that can increase knowledge for other members. The posts you make must be your own work, not the result of translation, copy/paste or plagiarism of posts produced by other people. Because of its subjective nature, each member always looks at the criteria for quality or not from a different perspective. Some members appreciate (give merit) to posts that are still fresh or have never been made before by other members and the content presented can provide benefits for others.

Can I ask you a question? What will you  do with merit? Knowledge acquisition should be given priority over merit. Merit is just a number. You should focus on gaining knowledge. But I have seen some threads where you can get some merit. I am providing the link below for your convenience.

1.  Receive Merit - Post your PGP key, add an encrypted message, open for anyone. (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5461523.msg62624631#msg62624631)

2.  [Merit] Share your best posts/threads with Fillippone to be merit assessed (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5412657.msg60895527#msg60895527)

But before applying, please read the rules carefully.

OP I understand the fact that you are a bit worried about your existence here. I could understand how it feels to be putting efforts and yet it seems as if your efforts does not count but I will advise and encourage you not to relent. Keep contributing your quota and opinion.

Most times, it is not all about joining the league but being different in your unique way, which means discovering your own potentials that could be of help to members of this platform, doing things differently that can be of good value to the growth of the platform. This would help you grow here. Just be yourself and do what you know best.

hmm see you have received one merit here but I would suggest you to keep active on the forum and keep participating in the discussion so that in case any of your posts deserve merits you may get merits from the senior member or merits source. But it does not always work because your good posts sometimes do not come in the other members eyes who may like your post. But anyway, keep reading the informative threads so that you may also learn from the other members.

Do not think of getting merits go for the good post merits will come when it comes. Sometimes you get engaged in the discussion and when you reply to the any member and if he/she likes your post your posts/answers can be appreciated in the form of merits. so just go for the quality posting.

You just asked a good question since your desiring to rank up and it also seems like your begging for merit. You know what,if you wanna get merit rewards, your quality posts and contributions will definitely get you rewarded. And also if you wanna start making quality posts and contributions you just have to start learning from high rank members on the forum because they are well knowledgeable and experienced bitcoiners and stop using AI.

Firstly we need to understand things which are important with following rules and regulations will make things perfect as we have some knowledge then surely we can do thing perfectly and merit could be not problem for anyone but due to negativity or having earning through bounties many gone on wrong path which hurt them.
Currently, we are having too many members those achieve good merit and ranks very quickly due to their extraordinary activities and knowledge which is key for many those are looking for help and having something from this forum, hopefully we will be ended with good views and knowledge in long run.

Merit become scarce among beginners if they actually post for merit. Some experienced users are fed up with this trend - I mean, there are a lot of newbie users who really expect merit from day one rather than building knowledge and increasing experience.

Moreover - some threads created by beginners tend to be considered merit fishing threads. They become users who educate other users instead of educating themselves - they don't even really know what they're talking about. I tend to expect them to read more than write/post and develop themselves and have an interest in contributing - that's what will help them get merit even if it doesn't come as quickly as expected.

And most likely they mostly get discourage if they didn't get any merits for the post they created that's why some of them quit and regret that they waste their time here. But if they are  seeking for knowledge about bitcoin for sure they would never care about that merit thing since what they can learn is enough for them to help on how to earn money by using bitcoin and other cryptocurrency. Those newbies targeting to earn merit is aiming to rank for signature campaign which is wrong mindset. They should not rush everything since they can achieve all of that thru process. Also I suggest for newbies to stay on technical discussions if they want to  earn merit since there's a huge chance that they can earn some merit compare to other boards of this forum.

Let's first agree that the merit system is not a barrier for beginners to reach a high rank.
If the posts are low, let alone beginner accounts, high rank accounts also don't easily get merit because the assessment of whether they deserve merit depends on the person who evaluates them.

Technical boards are not spam boards. Misrepresenting information can mislead many people who read it. Involving yourself in discussions on the technical board doesn't have to be a high-ranking person, beginners can also join in discussions as long as they know the discussion path with discussions that are appropriate to the topic.

It's very simple. All you have to do is publish a topic or write a useful comment on one of the topics, and if it receives enough likes, you will be encouraged to score one or more merit points. There is no need to recommend that you adopt sound language and clear ideas with whatever beautiful coordination you can provide.

Look at the posts that received merit points on any account and you will conclude on your own how that account was able to earn more points.

In any case, you will not need these points except to upgrade your membership, meaning that you can use the forum without any discrimination on the basis of these points. Only some features are not useful to you unless you have a higher membership, and I don't think you need them as a beginner.

Final tip; Do not ever think about buying or selling these points or exploiting them in any way because this is against the rules and will undoubtedly expose your account to trouble.

Now that @adaseb have given the OP one merit hope they are satisfied now, you learn to crawl before you walk and you learn to walk before you run so in a more clear terms learn to read, understand discussion going on in a topic, make quality contributions and merit will flow freely in your profile either by those who finds your replies helpful to receive merit or by merit a source. Every early stage is for learning and nothing more, keep learning for now. We all passed through same rank as you and the merit we earn is not magical but as a result of making good and quality posts.

But keep in mind that it is important to have a habit of reading more and more to prove yourself qualified in this forum. When you think you can post now. I will blame your knowledge and experience as the reason for not getting your merit. A look at your account shows that your posts are not of high quality. You have only posted on gambling where the chances of getting merit are very low. I'm not sure, but as far as I know there aren't any helpful discussions. So you need to gain more knowledge and learn to speak helpfully. Then you can expect to get merit.

If you say why you are not getting merit, then I would say your post is not being promoted by someone else.  If people can learn something from any of your posts, you will automatically get merit.  I want to say that you spend a little more time and climb the knowledge of this bitcoin world.  And try to superimpose it.

You are right, however, it is not only about top-ranked members because even a newbie who received 2 merits can send one merit to another user. So a user doesn't need to impress high-ranked members to get merits but they should generally focus on their posts and their quality so that the readers understand everything they read and at least get something out of what has been posted.

Staying on-topic and not repeating the points others have pointed out are key factors to a quality post among others. Some newbies think that creating long posts mean they are making quality posts which isn't true, there is a difference between quantity and quality.

Why are you desperate to get merit? You can be here for years and you won’t receive merit, and you can create account today and you will receive merit today. It’s not about how long you stay on the forum here, it’s about the quality of the post you are making, how useful the information which you are passing is. Anyone that finds your post useful will merit you, and I don’t know why you are worried because you haven’t received merit, hope you know merit won’t stop you from posting on the forum here, so there is nothing to be worried about.

Someone already gave you one merit, am sure you will be happy, and you can now know how it feels to receive merit. All what I will tell you is that you should improve your posting pattern and you are going to be receiving merit.

The length or shortness of the post does not determine the quality, of course because the quality of the post is determined by how useful your post is for other user and how constructive it is. However, what you need to remember is that not all posts that you consider quality have to earn merit. Each user becomes very selective in sending merit to other users even though the quality can be seen objectively or subjectively.

What you need to do is consistently post useful things constructively and actively participate in quality topics. Not many merit sources visit general topics, most of them tend to be on technical or other useful topics.

Op, if you want to gain merit, there's nothing to do other than be yourself and concentrate on learning how to improve in your knowledge of cryptocurrency, merits are rewards for good works so you need to be able to understand how to have a good communication with members, share useful informations that will be useful to members of the forum and stop begging to be merited and go on with your learning process you will see how you will be rewarded in due time. For now focus more on reading, learn to be original and stop looking for short cuts it won't help you to grow in knowledge and what you are asking for.

It is not a crime to stay long in the forum without having a single merit because people come with different ambitions in this forum.

Your aim and seriousness fetch you merits even without asking others on how to earn or get merits.

I have seen so many replies that shared you some links on the guide on the various forum rules, activity, and merits; you can see that quality posting is the result to earn merits and also given quality contributions in the forum at the right time will also fetch some merits.

I read a few replies to this post on merit. I understand that I will be credited for my insightful words and helpful discussions. My question is how many merits can I improve my rank?

Don't worry, everyone has a process and there are many things you can follow to increase your merit. The condition is that the post is long and constructive and has useful content and then look for links that provide merit assistance like here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5412657.0

That is it. Earning merit is measured by the knowledge you have got to share. Earning merit shouldn't just be the main focus because when it is chased without having the right knowledge to share with others it won't come. Merit is as a result of the knowledge onr have about Bitcoin and things related to Bitcoin. People don't earn merit because it is avaliable but merit is given as reward of giving out useful information that will be of good benefit to other members.  Just think about what it means to earn merit, it is not something that just come like that instead it is some thing gotten by hardwork, patience , consistency and to be focused.

If you want to earn merit you don't need to complain why you have not got any,  instead you need to work very hard for people to give it to you freely that is why it is called merit.

I think the Bitcointalk 10th anniversary art contest  (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5193860.msg52793373#msg52793373)is one of the contests with the most earned merits here on Bitcointalk. Theymos distributed a total of 9,991 merits.

There is no specific time or mentioned time that you need to stay active here, Although if any other member finds your post best or feels it deserves merit he/she will give you merits just focus on sharing quality posts and constructive posts. Besides this do not use any shortcut to get merits because if you get caught by the watcher using any shortcut way to earn merits your account can be tagged as negative feedback. Now, you may think about what kind of shortcuts I am talking about so there are some things you need to follow to build your reputation good on the forum.

Do not use AI-generated based content, Do not copy past from other sources and if you are doing this must share the link of the sources from where you copy/quote the data. Just stay natural and keep active on the forum, and keep participating in the hot discussions where there chances of getting merits are high in this way you may get merits.

I think OP will eventually get used to it, especially if he realizes why merit is needed.

Yes. It's true that OP must improve the quality of reading and be able to write posts that are constructive, have meaning and are useful for others.

It's better not to ask about general things if you have already mastered them, but it's better to focus on things that are new and related to crypto in particular and the future development of this technology.

If there is a visionary issue, it is even stronger.

I believe that any newbie that joins this forum and their main focus will be to get merit might be in for a Big disappointment, I have seen many accounts with activities that is in their hundreds and their merit are very small whily others have smaller activities with higher merit. So I decided that getting merit in the forum is only when another account decides to give it to you, in appreciation of your posts that impresses them, that is why I think that it is best to focus on learning about cryptocurrency in the forum, because I observed that forum members are very eager to guide newbies in their journey to learning and gaining knowledge about the cryptocurrency.

Honest response, merit is awarded by who ever has one and its a choice to give out those merit, so if you haven't been getting merit it means that you might need to give more helpful information to the forum, although there are merit sources that have the job if distributing merit to quality posts on the forum, take a chill pill and relax.

Hello everyone, I have been here for a few weeks/months now but I'm yet to receive "merit" so I'm just worried
If you join a new school and everyone is being cheered for doing something significant and you stayed for months and not even noticed let alone receive a cheer, trust me you will feel so bad as though you are a terrible person. In such situation, it behold on you to ask questions and inquire about what you are not doing correctly or what you have to do to be in tandem with your contemporaries. This is not by any way called desperation but just being inquisitive. As long as merit is a measure of post quality in the forum, it will always feel good when one receives it as; it shows that the user is making meaningful contribution. Even though I will not encourage anyone to post simply because you want to earn merit rather posts should be made to join discussion in the group, learn and contribute meaningfully so that merit should only be a product of such contribution.

What I will advice the OP is never to struggle to impress the users instead be yourself and appreciate your level of understanding of Bitcoin and the underlying technology. Make conscious effort to learn and keep growing in knowledge because every other reward you will receive is a product of knowledge.

Staying on this forum for a long time doesn't guarantee you will earn merit if you are not up and doing. Getting merit here is not that hard if you know the kind of thread to create or comment to make. For you to get merit here, always make sure the post you will create or comment you will make is solving problems on this forum. For instance, if someone has not been to Denmark before and that person asks for a guide on this forum on how to get to Denmark, you quickly direct the person with your comment on the thread the person created on how he can get to Denmark. If any member sees your comment and notices that what you told the person is a good guide that can take the person to Denmark, he will give you merit because your comment has been helpful to a member of this forum.

I don't know either, because in my opinion merit is an award given when readers feel interested, happy and relevant to your post. if you can't do that maybe your merit will remain 0 forever. but what I regret is why people keep talking about merit, even though that's not the essence of this forum, right? Nowadays I notice that people make merit their main goal and deify merit. so sad. For me, merit is nothing more than likes on Facebook.

Basically merit is given here based on good and quality informed questions, because whenever a person gives merit that person is calm on the post. Sometimes everyone will avoid other or unnecessary posts, so you must earn merit by posting quality posts. If the people who post gratuitously never qualify and are idiots.  Because no one is ever stupid when it comes to modern age so the more you can learn from this forum the more you can reach the roots of improvement.

Generally, forum members are given a wide latitude of discretion on how they would want to distribute/give their merits to someone. Perfect example here would be your own post as someone merited you for asking this question.

There are no answers that can give you perfect results but here are some guidelines that I have compiled during my journey here in this forum which garnered me some merits:

  • Make your discussions/topics concise and informative;
  • Contribute to the forum (e.g. reporting scams, etc.);
  • Fix your grammar and at least know how to reply to some threads by being relevant;
  • Share interesting posts or facts; and
  • Share some memes on proper boards.

Again like I mentioned, there are tons of ways for you to get merits but I do suggest that instead of focusing on getting merits, prioritize first on learning in this forum. By applying this kind of perspective, you would be able to contribute to the forum that will ultimately garner you some merits along the way.

To get good merits, it would require one to speak clearly and make good short points that is uncontestably true and informative and contains the right tenses that those who don't speak or hear or write the common English language would be able to make meaning of it.

A good merit point is also a result of early response that is precise when no one else is doing so, because I believe the first responders on a particular topic get the most read from others who came later to read and reply.

Since nit everybody can write well in English, there are still people that are not so good in English that are getting merits from their local board and the little they can write. The most important thing is for us to pass a good information so that any person reading it will find a good meaningful things to benefit or understand. We don't have to be very fluent in vocabulary writing before we starts writing and getting merit. If we write in the write place even though the English construction is not as that accurate, we can still get merited.

Receiving merits is not just easy as you are the beginners of the community you need to exchange knowledge to everyone if us here in order to receive merits quality post recieved a lot of merits. But for you as you are still new in this community you need to focus on growing your knowledge and once it has happened then you won't believe that you will be given by the other users who actually like your posts. Anyways you have 1 merit earned band that's a good start to boost you. You need 1 more merit to have another 0.5 sMerits to have 1 sMerits so and once you have it already you can give you sMerits to everyone's post you like.

To get good merits, be active everyday. That will help you to observe the forum more and help you understand how the forum works. And since getting merits is quite a challenge for everyone, if you do your own diligence to read and understand what is in the forum, you will also learn to improve your knowledge as well as your reasoning ability that you can develop through thorough research and continuous learning in the forum. Just never be lazy and continue to learn what is there to learn in the forum. I believe at the end of the day, you will find yourself good and smart enough to deal with other members posts and concerns, until your answers will be noticeable because they are making a huge impact on the forum members themselves.

merit is proof that someone who has merit likes or appreciates the posts you make, so make the best posts possible and be active in interacting with other members, remember that many members are trapped by their greed in wanting to get merit so they do stupid things like doing Plagarism or begging for merit from other members, this is something that is prohibited.

It's quite easy, to attract merit to you profile. Actually when you keep consistent a good post and intention  as a good forum contributor. You can easy get merit by being of help to someone else. But mind you, but that doesn't necessarily mean you'll get merit in all your quality post. And the board in which you post matters a lot, you can make a good quality post in off topic and expect a merit from a source or anyone, else you're just deceiving yourself. The best way to get merit is when you keep up a good post without expecting merit. Most newbies make the mistake of hunting merit and after they must have tried all the tricks they can think of, they just quit and leave the forum. But if only they could focus more on becoming a good contributor and at the same time learning from the process.

Merit is given to those members who contribute a topic, reply an informative topic, give help with the community and etc. Also, merit can be subjective because we have different perspectives if you like the content of other members you can give them merit. Newbies struggle always with how to get merit which is I recommend better to make yourself knowledgeable first so you can get within the conversation of the threads also upon checking with your trust profile seems you get too much urge to gain merit. Focus in knowledge first if you want to participate in signatures and get rank immediately. Also newly created account requires an activity not that just immediately rank up.

yep, I agree, by making quality posts, in  sense of not using AI posts, so that other members will give appreciation with merit but it also not guarantee. Maybe OP is new to this forum and he doesn't know that posting using AI is not allowed here.
If the OP uses an AI to make posts, it’s not going to take time before it’s going to be detected that the OP is using AI to post, and the account is going to be tagged. If you are using AI to post, you will be caught even before anyone gives you merit, so it’s just better to take your time and read and make posts yourself. It’s obvious that the OP is still a newbie who is desperate to earn merit to rank up without working for it. The OP thinks that if an account is created here immediately, merit will start increasing, but the OP doesn’t know  it’s the quality post made that will earn him merit.

I wonder since most people who are usually looking to get merits very quickly and rank up are those who are willing to join signature campaigns and start earning money from the forum, what would they do even if they manage to get enough merits and rank up from their local board if they can't write in proper English? As far as I know, signature campaigns only allow a limited number of posts on the local boards, and others should be done in global sections.

So, what I suggest is people who think they can be constructive should learn reading and writing English because it is important. Though you can stay in your local board forever but I don't think that would be much useful in the long run because there is a lot of things to explore in the overall forum.

Merits doesn't just come,it comes as a reward for you hard work,it comes when you make quality post your habbit, and for your post to be merited, one or two persons in this forum must be impressed by your hard work, and by the way you make your posts.I know this post is made because you are finding it difficult to get merit,Yes,getting merit here is very hard, thats why for you to get the merits, you must make post that won't be ambiguous, posts that are clear enough to be understandable by the reader, and post that have impacts on the reader, rather than post that will provoke or have no value to the community.Your post must be related to the topic, these and many more are what can give you merits.

School teaches us to learn, understand, memorize and so on, it's all for us to become smarter and more knowledgeable in everything, especially those related to the school curriculum, that's the main point, the goal is to achieve achievement.

It's the same as the members here, they learn and understand everything, whether it's about Bitcoin in general, crypto, mining, reputation, economics, trading and so on, we can see those who are confident and persistent in this matter easily achieve achievements, Likewise, if you have experience and knowledge or broad insight into Bitcoin and so on, you can easily get the achievements you want, the point is to keep learning.

Merits are not just given based on the weeks or months that members have sent in the forum, but based on their quality posts. Once a member posts valuable information to the forum, their posts will receive merits from different members of the forum, so if you want your account to be receiving merit, you need to improve and start posting interesting information to the forum, and from that, you will see that merits will start flowing into your account. So the secret that behind an account should always be receiving merit is through quality posts, so someone's valuable contribution is what can make someone be able to rank up his or her account.

I think simple hoe to get merit reward in bitcointalk forum, firstly making most useful post from educative until good qualities of grammatically if post on global forum. You can track some thread with most active post behind some expert user here always distributing their post based on thread he wants and you can learn more about that topic and try to make your opinion there with bigger possibilities get merit reward.
Other way you can track with each own local board has community appreciated your post by giving merit, but firstly need improving post qualities and always making most useful post before reviewing post to get merit reward.

Not bad ideas if you want apply your post review in this thread and wish you can get merit reward behind both of user active sending merit if you post useful.

  • [Merit] Share your best local board posts/topics (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5465195.0)
  • [Merit] Share your best posts/threads with Fillippone to be merit assessed (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5412657.0)

First you need to understand what merit means. Merit is like a rank in this forum that shows the hierarchy of each member in the forum. Well as a newbie you are always advice to read more and to make research before trying to create or make a thread. It clearly shows that you didn’t make research or even tour the forum before creating this thread.

Back to the question you asked, what do one do to get merit reward? Well in this forum you can do a few things to get merit reward

1. Making Quality Post: in this this is one of the most easiest way to earn merit, most member in this forum values  quality post, it like a way of telling other member in the forum you have skills to contribute to the forum and it shows you can actually contribute intellectually to the forum.

2. Being Trustworthy: This is another thing one can do to gain merit in the forum. Let me make an instance, maybe someone in the forum made a mistake in sending Bitcoin, other crypto or even USDT to another member in this forum and maybe when he realizes he made a mistake and he came out to talk about the mistake he made and the receiver came out to say he was the one who received the crypto, this will make alot of people to trust him in the forum some might even use merit to show appreciation to what he has done, for be truthful and trustworthy in the forum.

3. Correcting Newbies: This is another way to gain merit in this forum, everyone was once a newbie in this forum, and everyone as a newbie actually face difficulties. Some in the process of making research and some maybe in posting in the wrong thread. It could be anything. So as a high ranking member in the forum when newbies actually makes mistakes and you correct them in the rightful way and manner some other high ranking members might see it and might decide to gift you merit as a form of telling you to keep the good work going.

Gifting of merit is just like showing appreciation for a good work done, contributing positively to the forum, asking relevant questions and lot more. So as a newbie make sure you make a lot of research, Read more so you can learn more. With this you can make quality post and even contribute positively to the forum and definitely you will be gifted merit by other members in the forum.

Yes. You are right and if you want to see the pattern and style of quality posts or not, you can just click on the profile of the person you want then press show post and it will be easy to see how our seniors answer questions or give opinions regarding one thing or another related to crypto or besides.

And there will also be recognition from ourselves if the model provides answers and provides input as it feels like it would be very natural if someone gave merit for their efforts in answering.

There's one thing I will let you know, if you're being curious to get merit you won't get it anytime soon, all you need to do is keep working hard and also keep making quality post and also giving meaningful informations this are the things that you can do to make you earn marit so easily, because the reason why most people find it very difficult to get marit is because their post lacks so many informations and at same time not meaningful that is why you see most of the account with five hundred post without no single merit.

Point of correction my friend, merit is not what is been measured by how long you have stayed on this forum, but rather how well you are able to contribute to meaningful discussion all the time. So it's possible for you to be on this forum for 5yrs and yet not receive a single merit if you are not engaging in discussion, or providing solution to problems. And likewise a person can also stay on this forum just 3 months and acquire as much merit as possible if he/she is knowledgeable about Bitcoin/Crypto and offering solution to problems/discussions.

I see you have already earned two merits and become jr.member from newbie. There are many members in the forum who have spent years in the forum but still haven't earned a single merit. That means you are on the right track. Participate in discussions on various boards of the forum, help other members, this way you will earn merit and your profile will grow up. Merit is not very easy to achieve, if you have aptitude then you can definitely achieve merit. If you can provide any good information in the forum which will be useful to the forum and give good reply then you will get merit as your merit. However, I can say that there are several ways, such as participating in Bitcoin Pizza or Bitcoin Pie contests, where you can earn some merit by showing your skills. By visiting different threads you can see where different contests or challenges are running and if you can complete the achievements you will get merit from there. However you should practice reading a lot and from there you will understand how to qualify.

Getting merits is not measured by time, but its on how you learned throughout your learning experience. The longer you spend time learning in the forum, the bigger the chances you will gain a lot of knowledge and even skills, with that getting merits might be able to develop along with your learning experience.

I suggest just be active on a daily basis. Be updated on the what is currently happening in the forum as well as the  present issues that are hot topics in the forum. If you can share useful and relevant information that will be of great benefit to others, that will be the best time you will gain and earn merits from the different merit sources.

Just make sure to create post that will caught someone's attention, I said someone because everybody can not find your post interesting or informative cause what they are looking for may not be what you have, it's just like someone who is selling provision and then a customer comes to buy bread and what you have is biscuits there's no way you can convince him or her to buy your biscuits instead he will move to the next provision store to look for bread, that merit sometimes serve as money they are paying you in exchange of the information you drop here so always make sure to have information that at least one or two person will stop by and exchange something with you.
