Title: Does Trust wallet keeps tx history?
Post by: shemstam on May 09, 2024, 02:51:15 PM
Hello

If I delete the app, and reinstall it, and restore
my wallet, will the transactions history will be shown?

I know tx history can be searched on the blockchain.
My question is specific to the tx shown on the app.

I didn't really pay attention to the TrustWallet mechanism, even though I repeatedly installed and reinstalled it, but AFAIK they will restore your transaction data via Blockchain. BTW, this is an easy thing to practice on your own, why bother asking on this forum?

If you restore it using wallet seed, all previous transactions will appear, but some settings will disappear, such as some of the tokens you hid or comments you left.
If you don't remember wallet seed, all your coins will be lost.

Transactions always show up on there as long you have the wallet (address).

If you looking a spreadsheet (CSV) for exporting your transaction on (Trust-Wallet). They don't have that feature, however you can use the option export transaction of your wallet address using the explorer

Like these as example: https://www.bitwave.io/blog/how-to-download-transaction-history-from-trust-wallet-for-taxes

Why exactly do you need these features when all the data is available on the blockchain? Trusted wallets will show all the data after restoration if the wallet is synchronised very well. I haven't tried it, but it should show all the data. I have seen some posts on the internet. Since TrustWallet is a non-custodial wallet, they don't store any data. All the data stored in the blockchain from where it is synchronised. There would be some errors, like the balance not showing, etc., but you have to restore the wallet properly and wait for full synchronisation.

AFAIK, transactions are embedded with your recovery phrases/seeds then whether you install or delete that, it's already there. If it happens that there's no show of the past transactions that you did, it's possible that there's a wallet update that you need to do at least for Trust wallet and this also applies for most wallets.

The transaction history is always available on the blockchain since everything is transparent. Why are you even worried about this?

Just enter your coin address to a respective block explorer, and you will be able to see everything. Trustwallet is just a wallet software for user interface but everything else is recorded on the blockchain.

On trust wallet, sometimes if you update your wallet or even import your wallet in another device, some of the transaction history might not appear visible on the app. I have experienced this before while using trust wallet.

But that's only on TrustWallet. Transaction history can always be found on the blockchain transaction tracker for those who know how to use it, as many newbies only know how to check their recent transaction history from the wallet app they make use of.

If you delete your trust wallet and install it logging in to the same account, you will always find your transactions history because they are stored in the cloud not on your phone or computer. They would automatically appears seeing all the previous transactions you have done.
If you don't find them, maybe you would have to check the Blockchain and find all transactions that have passed through your wallet address to enable you see how much you have transacted so far or the addresses linked to your wallet address.

I am not sure about this, actually, my transaction history on trust wallet gets messy and I don’t use it anymore instead I go to the blockchain to scan my wallet. Sometimes I see transactions getting mixed up, or you may receive a token but it’s not showing up in transaction history. That’s all I’ve noticed. But I’d say you rather rely on the blockchain scan you’re doing with.

I think only transaction made in the app were shown. Does it matter anyway? You could always view your transactions via explorer of the blockchain you used like for example etherscan, bscscan and etc.

Ive noticed that when I used trustwallet app only those tx that has been did are showing up. Probably on new device it will not be shown.

Transaction history will be available on the blockchain explorer if trust wallet is deleted from the device and again reinstalled using the seed phrases. The app won't display any past transaction as after uninstalling the wallet it will erase the connection to the blockchain. After installation all recent transactions will be shown in the wallet app.

It should be there, just like in any non-custodial wallet. I used Exodus and OWNR, and re-installed apps a couple of times. All my transactions were there after recovery.

If you delete the trust wallet app and reinstall the app as long as your assets still appears  I think they are suppose to show you the transaction history, although I haven't done that before but I'm pretty sure that all your transaction history will still appear, have you tried doing that and they refused showing you your transaction history? Or you just want to ask to know if it's possible? You should try and read threads of those people who has done that before I think they can have answer to your question.

This is not supposed to happen, as deleting data does not change anything in the wallet, the only things that disappear are your previous settings, such as hiding some tokens or the blockchain.
After reading the topic again, I think that the user may ask about unconfirmed transactions or those transactions that broadcasts but wants to delete before confirming them.

I am using trust wallet now but I have not practically carried out this experiment or test that you are seeking to know now but I guess trust wallet doesn't keep such history. The reason for my answer is because, there was a time I froze my trust wallet using the app freezer on my phone. While the wallet was on freeze, my campaign manager made payment to me and it reflected in balance but did not show in the history as others were showing. I believe for that, trust wallet will not have the history of your transactions after you delete the app and reinstalled it.

To know more, do the practical by your self.

If I may ask, what do you need this information for?

Yes it will or it is supposed to show you cause the transaction history is not really stored in the wallet but on blockchain so when you restore the wallet then any addresses belong to the wallet should have all TXs details even after you are importing it to trust wallet or any wallet that supports the seed phrase.
