There are a lot of things that you are yet to discover. Not only have shops started accepting bitcoin, but some countries have also made it a legal tender.

Some companies too also consider it a method of payment for large purchases, and they also use bitcoin as part of their reserve funds. Bitcoin adoption is rapidly increasing, and it's not just in shops accepting it this time.

There are so many shops that accept Bitcoin in several countries of the world. Accepting Bitcoin at a shop as a payment option can be challenging especially if the merchants lives and does business in your country where Bitcoin is not sanctioned by the government. In countries like El Salvador where bitcoin is accepted shops that accept Bitcoin as payment options will see greater sales, new customers, increased profit etc.

It's a gradual process. I remember my early days in the forum where we used to discourse on bitcoin's adoption and even speculate when bitcoin will get integrated as a payment method by merchants. It's really nice to see that in recent years, it's coming together but we're still not there (yet). There's plenty of work still to be done so that the average Joe can use Bitcoin to pay for goods and services at tx cost lower than the fees offered by commercial banks and card firms like mastercard, visa, etc.

Usually shops are already accepting btc as payment but most even companies do the same, if i could recall as then there were some gas station that was accepting bitcoin payment people were patronizing them. Bitcoin has gone beyond the way you have had it and you can unveil more things if you stick around here.

Although to me this is quite normal as it has happened in many places depending on the scale of the service, in the past I also witnessed a fairly large local university announce to accept bitcoin as a payment method for student tuition, it was truly an overwhelming event for me at that time to have such acceptances.

But witnessing the past few years, we are not too unfamiliar with the acceptance of bitcoin in some services. In some countries, even expressing their attitude to accepting bitcoin's extensive journey still has many challenges, but indeed for those who accompany its development to witness what they believe in, the feeling is wonderful.

I’ve only seen one shop in person that ever accepted Bitcoin and that was in Las Vegas and judging from the experience it was just a gimmick. I do hope shops are one day able to accept Bitcoin, but high fees and the limited block space being given to patented layer 2s means customers would rather just use cash.

Bitcoin has already and will continue to shock the world. For every new ATH achieved, the world goes wild and talks about the potential of bitcoin and what its performance implies for the future. In my country right now there is not much stores that accept bitcoin in fact I have not seen one at all. I am waiting for bitcoin to spread all around the world, hopefully. It might be a long process but we are heading there

I can imagine how excited this has made you, giving you a kind of reassurance that what you're investing in is actually something that is becoming global. For many of us on the other side of the world, this is not new.

Some of the shops accepting BTC in some countries do it just for clout-chasing, just to attract young customers like you to their shop.

If the use of bitcoin for transaction will make you face punishment or sanctions, I don't think that it would be logical for merchants to be accepting that as a form of payment for their product and/or services. Regarding the El Salvador situation, there's never been an article that reports that there were increase in sales or anything like that but there was a report that said that after some months, the use of it lowered and most people still preferred to use fiat over bitcoin and despite the $30 bitcoin subsidy of the government, there are still untouched bitcoin subsidy despite the massive amounts of download of the Chivo wallet.

I actually doubt that.

Bitcoin is a risky investment much more a risky payment method. These businesses need to have a profound understanding of bitcoin and how it works and how it could benefit or cause harm to their business.

It’s not a simple marketing strategy because they are quite literally putting everything on the line. I think if a shop decided to put bitcoin as one of their accepted payment methods they genuinely believe in btc and would want to be part of it.

I don't know about shops accepted Bitcoin at your local area but there are some websites to find shops and where you can spend your bitcoins.

https://bitcoin.org/en/spend-bitcoin

With small fund to spend, it will be better and more economical if you find shops that accept Bitcoin via Lightning Network or side chains.

There's not a lot of them unfortunately, maybe in my country it would still be the same as any other, they like to use fiat much more than bitcoin because they're either ignorant, they're not aware that bitcoin exist, or that bitcoin isn't a thing and most of them probably don't want the added hassle of having to convert bitcoin to fiat so they can cycle it back to their business to buy back their stocks and pay their workers. In a small business, it might work but the problem is that the tax season will be a hell of a lot more difficult to do because there's some issues they need to deal with involving doing transactions using bitcoin. Also, the word is patronage not patronizing because that would mean that the bitcoin users that are paying their gas on that gas station is condescending or demeaning them in some way.

For a country like Lugano, El Salvador, Brazil, England that have accepted to regulate the activity of cryptocurrency users in their countries respectively, I don't think shops or businesses there would find it hard to accept BTC or even any altcoins for their transactions, because it is a currency for exchange and payments that may include purchase or taxes.
Where I think accepting BTC or cryptocurrency in shops or businesses isn't viable, is when such businesses exit in a region where crypto currency is banned or not accepted and regulated by the government. Unless it is from well known customers and trusted P2P traders or investors, shopping with BTC or cryptocurrency is a kind of option that is specifically requested or available to real crypto currency believers.

I love buying stuff using crypto in general and I have been doing this for years now, almost all my equipment was bought online unfortunately not many are accepting Bitcoin as a means of payment.

I have spent weeks looking for online marketplaces that accept crypto and most that I have found have something to do with crypto e.g. crypto hardware wallets, crypto asic miners, graphics card stores, crypto-related smartphones, etc.

The others are Gift card stores, bill payments, vouchers, and co, I read on this forum that Newegg is accepting Bitcoin payments. I haven't looked into this, if this is true there are many things I have wanted to buy on Newegg, and this could make me go ahead with the purchases instead of using restricted credit cards from my country.

It is a different story in my country, there is only 1 out of 1000 that are accepting crypto, and even now that the government isn't very friendly with crypto adopters in the country it will take some balls to display "crypto is accepted here" in front of your store, I took down mine months ago and still accept Bitcoin behind closed door.

Do you mean that some shops in your country or in other country are now accepting Bitcoin? If it is in your country, that is good to know, for other countries, it is not a news but real. I have seen different post on this forum about shops that is accepting Bitcoin payment and not every one of those post are from the same country. In those country that Bitcoin is not banned, there are definitely some business that accepts Bitcoin payment.

There are quite a lot of shops accepting Bitcoin. I don't know how up-to-date this map is, but you definitely can use it to get an image: https://coinmap.org/view/#/map

For a country like Lugano

Your post contains quite a few confusions there. I will start with the fact that Lugano is not a country, just a region in Switzerland.
Also you've put together regions or countries with big support (or legal tender) for Bitcoin with regions/countries with not that special status of Bitcoin. Not mentioning the Bitcoin is actually regulated in many (maybe even most) countries of the world.

Buying goods with Bitcoin is more common in El Salvador, where Nayeb Bukele fully accepts Bitcoin. Bitcoin has generally gained a lot of influence around the world within a short period of time, although in our country Bitcoin is illegal because it is not officially awarded but we use it secretly. So there are people all over the world who are secretly using Bitcoin, grocery stores, furniture, clothing and food stores also have Bitcoin style bill payment systems in El Salvador. But very soon such modern technology will spread all over the world.

This is nothing new. From very early days there have been shops that accepted bitcoin as payment. I dare say the first case was the Pizza thing and it has grown ever since. It's just that the bitcoin adoption is still very small (maybe less than 5% of the world) and out of that small adoption, many are seeing bitcoin as an investment to get rich quick! So the number of people who see bitcoin as a currency, have a shop and decide to accept bitcoin as payment is understandably small.
The only thing that matters is that this adoption is growing.

The only word that stands out to me here is "now".
I have been paying stuff with btc and other crypto since maybe 2017. In 2018 I paid my new Macbook at BIC camera in Tokyo in BTC, even even got a 5% discount because of that.  ;D

For some reason in Japan you can find plenty of shops, bars, cafes, restaurants and so on where you can pay in BTC. And all this even though crypto is quite regulated here, there are no crypto ATM or anything like that here.
In Hong Kong it's also easy to pay with crypto at several places, at least I saw plenty.

Sure, other countries might not have adapted BTC and others at the same pace but hearing about seeing it for the first time in 2024 is surprising to me.

It depends on the roles of a country in a few countries there is no regulation for Bitcoins uses hence it is used in a shop but it is not permissible in all countries. Bitcoin is used as a  payment in many countries and still the development of Bitcoin is increasing so a time will come when every country will accept Bitcoin for purchasing materials.

With the passage of time bitcoin is going to be more acceptable currency all over the world and all those countries where there was no concept of Bitcoin are now accepting Bitcoin and those who already know about bitcoin have started to use it for a payment.

In some advanced countries like the US, businesses that accept Bitcoin as a currency are very high. However, the use of Bitcoin in my country for the buying of goods and payment of services is not popular. Most people in my country know nothing about Bitcoin. But I have seen one shop that accepts Bitcoin. It is located in the highbrow area because this is where you can see youths who are wealthy. For now, Bitcoin will be better as an investment because high transaction fees will make it expensive to use. Bitcoin is already shocking the world not as a currency but as a profitable investment and a promoter of privacy.

bitcoin has gone beyond being accepted as means of payments in shops to different levels.

Have you heard of bitcoin ATMs ? I guess No! You have to read https://www.bitcoin.com/bitcoin-atm/

I don't know what country you're from but in my country Nigeria, I have seen a lot of threads that shows that bitcoin is accepted as means of payments in different high firms in the country and other local shops. I can attest to it that I have seen a furniture shop that accepts bitcoin in my city.

Anyone who understands Bitcoin can see its issues. Unlimited transactions seem naïve. It overlooks this technology's operation. The idea of infinite transactions with security and everyone in control is nice, but not possible. Bitcoin was designed for daily purchases like coffee. But not now. People now consider it digital gold, something to hold onto rather than spend. The fees are high when everyone uses it since its design makes it slow.

Talking about correcting this is fine, but we must be honest. It won't be flawless, like making a little car race-fast. Just not happening. Little by little, we must improve Bitcoin, but never lose what makes it exceptional.

Finding an actual shop near you that accepts bitcoin as a payment can be a challenge depending on where you live, however when it comes to online shopping there are several options and services which basically allow you to buy almost anything you may want, as bitcoin has made great progress on that front since its creation, so we are getting close to the day in which an average person could use bitcoin exclusively for their purchases, if that is what they want.

Of course, each country has different regulations. If the country accepts BTC it will definitely be very easy to accept payments with BTC, but if not it will certainly be very difficult. And in my opinion, it is very rare for general stores to accept payment in BTC, if only a few. But many large shops or large companies are starting to accept BTC. Maybe here are some big stores or big companies that accept BTC as payment, but mostly via giftcards:

1. KFC. In 2018, they introduced the “Bitcoin Bucket” feature. In this feature, their main website will accept BTC for purchasing special chicken packages.
2. Subway. This restaurant also accepts payments in crypto via gift cards. In fact, Subway is the first fast food restaurant in the world to accept crypto.
3. Burger King. Currently, they accept BTC and other popular cryptocurrencies in the form of gift cards as a payment alternative.
4. Ace Jewelers. They also accept crypto payments directly via crypto wallets. In fact, in the last decade, this company was the first jewelry company to accept payments in BTC.
5. Shopify. lets online store owners accept BTCand 300+ other cryptocurrencies by enabling “alternative payment methods” in the Payment Providers section of the admin page.
6. Adidas. At Adidas, you can also pay using crypto via gift cards which can be purchased from BitRefill. Recently, Adidas said that they were interested in collaborating with CoinBase and this is an indication that there may be direct payments in the future.

Maybe that's all I know, even though they accept BTC on average with gift cards, I think it's very good, and it doesn't rule out the possibility of being able to accept payments directly.

Even though there are no shops in my area that accept Bitcoin as payment, currently there are many shop owners who are happy with Bitcoin and they are also trying to get it through the market by entering fiat into the market. But for things like this I have also had time to read one site which explains several companies that are willing to accept Bitcoin as payment and I think at this time there are also several new companies that are starting to like Bitcoin so this has led to its own progress in Bitcoin which continues to increase throughout the world. Now it's not just a shop but indeed there are several service providers also implementing the same thing but it does need to be underlined that something like this happens for countries that do accept bitcoin as a means of payment and it is not arbitrary to do so without any regulation from the state because however when we live under the rule of a country then we must comply with all the regulations in it.

When a country still does not recognize bitcoin as a legal means of payment then don't ever dare try to do that because it's the same as you are against the policies that the government makes and seems to impose its will.
Currently there are countries that have stated that they will adopt bitcoin which makes the bitcoin system as a means of payment still enforceable but not all countries can do that.

There was a time when I heard that some businesses do accept bitcoin as a payment method. Actually, I don’t know about those businesses because they are not close to me, so I couldn’t really confirm it, but with the current crisis about cryptocurrency in my country, any business accepting bitcoin will definitely have stopped it. Because if the CBN can discover that, then the business account might end up being compromised, which will be affecting the business. So any shop or company accepting bitcoin in my country will have stopped that, and maybe in the future we are going to see more businesses accepting bitcoin.

@Emmybit001, if you could share a bit more details on the specific stores taking bitcoin.  It would be helpful to know the country or region they are located in.  As some folks already pointed out, there are a good number of major retailers that accept bitcoin now.  Microsoft and Overstock.com are two bigger name companies that have allowed customers to pay with bitcoin for some time and  there are also services that let you spend bitcoin at retailers that dont directly take it.  But if you have names of some smaller or local brick and mortar shops embracing bitcoin, that would be interesting to hear.  Even just the general area so we can get a sense of where adoption seems to be happening.

Where have you found shops accepting Bitcoin? In your country and in your city? Otherwise, nothing new, actually. Bitcoin has been accepted by many countries and businesses. You might share your experience with your Bitcoin shopping experience. I have visited a couple of countries, but sadly, I haven't or wasn't able to spend Bitcoin directly. But I have used P2P services abroad, so I have local currency to spend. However, Bitcoin adaptation is growing fast, and businesses are expecting to reduce transaction fees so that they can accept Bitcoin easily.

Knowing that Bitcoin is accepted as payment in many shops in many countries makes you happy because they have implemented Bitcoin as a peer-to-peer electronic cash system. We are also happy with the actions taken by businesses to accept Bitcoin as a means of payment because it can increase Bitcoin adoption.

I have not updated data on the number of shops in each country that accept Bitcoin, but in my estimation the number is not just a few shops but many shops in several countries have implemented it.

For those business people who use Bitcoin as a means of payment, in my opinion, it is to make it easier for them to get Bitcoin directly to use as an investment because the use of Bitcoin as a long-term investment asset is more than the users who use Bitcoin as currency.

Yes, some stores in other countries have accepted bitcoin in their stores, this is progress that deserves appreciation because bitcoin has developed even further.

I have only ever bought hardware items at bitcoin payment online stores but to buy them directly to physical stores that accept bitcoin never because indeed my area will never accept it because there are already strict rules.

Maybe when traveling to other countries such as the Philippines, the island of Boracay, which already accepts bitcoin, some shops there include restaurants, hotels and many more.

That's what I read in the news before.

Bitcoin is already known world wide, I'm sure many people or countries already heard about bitcoin its just they dont want or they are still hesitant to bitcoin its because there are no proper way of introducing and advertising about bitcoin, if we will just be more spread about bitcoin then many people will actually do bitcoin, they know the risk and some dont want to because of the complexity of bitcoin and we cant blame them, if we could just all people who wants to learn bitcoin then it will be good, that's also why only a selected country and business are knwo to accept bitcoin because accepting bitcoin as a mode of payment is another process and a complex thing especially for businesses, they should be first know how to navigate in crypto world and also the pros and cons of accepting bitcoin as a payment, expect that only in big company or businesses will accept bitcoin.

BTC is p2p electronic cash and it is designed for any kind of payment, as long as the merchant is ready to accept it. Yeah, high tx fees make BTC unusable, especially for small payments such as paying for coffee. However, tx fees are kind of low right now, and maybe 1-2 sat/vbyte is possible in some months from now.

Take note that BTC has many use cases right now, and you have to accept the fact that people are going to use BTC in the way they like and choose, so they are the ones to decide if they want to spend or hold.

So far year by year bitcoin transactions doubles or triple and even reaches new ATH. So what you said doesn't hold much. High fees can be accomodate with lightning too. The only problem was the previous surge of tokens transactions in the bitcoin blockchain which is not designed for its purpose.

Well, bitcoin is very famous now. Those who know how to use it are likely to accept bitcoin as a means of payment, and sometimes they even hold it as an investment. In fact, when you buy at a shop, and the owner knows about bitcoin, then you can offer an exchange using bitcoin. However, personally, I would probably choose to use Fiat as a medium of exchange, and keep the bitcoins I own.

I know haven't seen many shops that accepts bitcoin as payment,  but I know their so many shops that accept it as payment and If i come across anyone right now I won't be surprised because I know bitcoin has gotten awareness that people can use it for transactions to purchase things.  Bitcoin use to buy things is one of the qualities Bitcoin have  as currency.  For sometimes now the transaction fees of bitcoin have been high but I don't think this will be a reason for some people not to use bitcoin to acquire the things they want.

Bitcoin us getting more awareness,  don't be be surprised to see bitcoin accept in big organisations as a means for payment for goods and services,  just know bitcoin is serving its purpose as a digital currency.

Even though he didn't say that he invests in Bitcoin but the tone of his statement alone can make us guess that he might be investing with it and even though there are lots of positive things that have occurred in Bitcoin, I think it is still not safe to say that it can give us an assurance.

At the end of the day, Bitcoin is still a kind of investment and any investment has their own risks. There are people like that who clout-chase. It is inappropriate but let's admit it that we can also benefit with it sometimes. In the case of Bitcoin, it is not just a quick hype but it remains. This is great because it means that we can now also use it for a very long time.

It would have been nice you give more details that will enable people patronise such shops if in their cities. There are a couple of businesses in my city that also accept Bitcoin, from salon to laundry services.  I have patronised some of them in the past when transaction fee was in cents but when it became too high, I was discouraged from using Bitcoin for such services that the transaction fee is even higher than the fee for the services,  what's the point?

I know the beauty of Bitcoin is when it makes life easy especially for the ordinary and reasonable percentage of humanity and not just a few. So, I always encourage innovations that helps Bitcoin make direct impact in the lives of people.

In the Philippines there was a movement a few years ago aiming to make Boracay, arguably one of the most famous places in the country, a crypto paradise, all of a sudden stalls registered for businesses are obliged to accept crypto payments in the form of bitcoin, and a lot of events were held up to really sell the idea of Boracay being a crypto paradise in the Philippines. Nowadays there's only a few of them left, and the whole place itself seemed to have let go of the idea of bitcoin and crypto currency as a whole, since no events are being held anymore, and no movement/activities were made in the past few years to really sell this idea.

Goes to show that you can be crypto-friendly all you like, but you gotta sell the idea to the businesses and the people who will buy from you as well. Could also be the case that since there's only 5% of the population globally that's into crypto, the idea of a largely crypto-centric paradise still doesn't sell itself.

IDK though, but one thing's for sure, crypto still has ways to go when it comes to becoming widely-accepted, we're on that trend though, so that's one good thing.

I don't know what country you're from but in my country Nigeria, I have seen a lot of threads that shows that bitcoin is accepted as means of payments in different high firms in the country and other local shops. I can attest to it that I have seen a furniture shop that accepts bitcoin in my city.

So you will have to find out how far bitcoin has gone, sooner buddy! Before it has a big community like this forum you should know it's not kidding right?
Yeah obviously there is no doubt that Bitcoin has become much greater than before, and there is way more recognition and acceptance for it around the world than a few years back, but that isn't the case with every country. There are countries where a large percentage of the population doesn't even know what Bitcoin is, so there is no way shops or businesses are going to accept cryptocurrencies as payment very soon.

So there is still a long way for Bitcoin to go for it to become a globally accepted payment method that can be used by people from all countries to make payments for the goods and services they consume when they go outside. It will probably take a few more decades for that to happen, and I hope we can stay alive to witness that.

It can certainly shock someone especially someone who was kind of out of the news or just someone not as updated about current innovations to see how Bitcoin has taken the world by storm.

There was a time where bitcoin or digital currency was considered a scam back then so to see how far it has come now to the point of not only using it for investment purposes but also using it as a daily method of payment. We are about to see more of that in later years.

It just get to know that some shops now accept BTC as exchange, that is very good Bitcoin is making progress, after some years now Bitcoin will shock the world, with the way things are going now.
In fact, globally there are many well-known retailers or shops that accept Bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies. However, if the retailer has many branches in various countries, of course it will probably be different because it will also depend on the conditions of each country, regarding the regulations for accepting cryptocurrencies and their legality in that country.

However, so far, there are several that are quite well known and accept Bitcoin payments in the retail companies sector.

1. Burger King -> Fast Food Since 2019.
    Accepting BTC and Bitcoin cash

2. Balenciaga -> Luxury Fashion, since 2021
     Accepting BTC and ETH

3. Pizza Hut  -> Food & Beverage Since 2020.
     Accepting BTC

4. Gucci    -> Luxury Fashion, Since 2021.
     Accepting BTC, Ethereum, and LTC

5. Etsy   -> E-commerce, Since 2020.
Accepting BTC, Ethereum, and various altcoins.

*Note: There may be differences in the number of retailers in each country due to cryptocurrency regulations in that country.*

And actually there are many more who openly accept Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies as one of their means of payment. Some of the lists include at least 35 large companies in the world. And of course, in some countries, there are also shops, both small and large, that already accept crypto as payment, it's just that it's not yet very widespread or the scale isn't yet global.

Check the source about he information above, here in this article:
https://swissmoney.com/who-accepts-bitcoin-as-payment/

So in essence, currently, the development of Bitcoin adoption is very good. However, the hope is that it will develop further and be accepted again in more and more fields throughout the world.

Not where I live, but shops and businesses started accepting Bitcoin long ago, so it's nothing new. When Bitcoin started becoming mainstream in the initial days, we used to be as excited as you because we used to think that Bitcoin would soon become an accepted currency all around the world very soon, but as time passed by, we started to realize that it is not as easy as we might think it is because there are a lot of hurdles in its way, volatility is one of them.

Some countries and their governments will barely ever accept Bitcoin and let their people use it freely, I know regulations are important because they need taxes and stuff, but they are generally against the concept because it promotes decentralization and they don't want that because it gives them limited access.

BTC is accepted and is used in most countries, albeit with strict regulations in some countries and no clear regulations in others, but the countries that have banned BTC are not so much.

Take note that when we are talking about acceptance, we don't mean the status of legal tender, BTC is only a legal tender in one country and i don't think we will get more in the near future, but that's not a problem if BTC is accepted and not banned, so that the merchants who are willing to accept it can do so, and people who want to spend it can also do so.

Usage and acceptance of bitcoin are seen all around the world. Based on the interest we take in using bitcoin, we'll be able to make use of it. In some locations, it is possible to see a large number of stores accepting bitcoin. Particularly, the interest in cryptocurrency acceptance has increased in African countries. Many business owners wish to accept cryptocurrency into their businesses, but the legal status within their country makes them stay away. Bitpay (https://bitpay.com/directory) gives detailed information on different brands, online stores, and cafes accepting bitcoin in different parts of the world.

We often find this phenomenon in several different shops that accept Bitcoin as a means of payment when transactions occur, both offline and online. Bitcoin has shocked the world in the last few years, the use of Bitcoin is not only limited to being a transaction tool in several shops, but has been recognized as a legal means of payment in the country of El Salvador. The increasing adoption of Bitcoin will make it easier for you to carry out transactions while on holiday because you no longer need to carry fiat money wherever you go. Using Bitcoin as a payment option will benefit both parties, for this reason many shops are starting to accept Bitcoin as a means of payment.

Many stores have been accepting bitcoin payments from customers for years, it's not a news. Of course we're talking about a relatively small number but it's part of the process. It would be interesting to know how many stores convert BTC immediately in some stablecoin/fiat and how many decide to keep it as BTC, I'm mainly thinking about the tax implications of this operation, would it be easy to keep track of these transactions or is it going to be confusing?

Because several large companies in the world have long been willing to accept Bitcoin for payment because the companies themselves are people who know and study Bitcoin so they dare to make the decision to accept payments in Bitcoin.

Well, bitcoin is very famous now. Those who know how to use it are likely to accept bitcoin as a means of payment
Some people are already accepting bitcoin as a payment method. There was a time some businesses were accepting bitcoin in my country before the central bank started banning accounts that are linked to crypto transactions. Since then, even people accepting bitcoin as a payment method have stopped so that their accounts won’t be blocked. But the funniest part is that even as the central bank keeps on blocking accounts linked to bitcoin transactions, bitcoin keeps on getting more popularity in my country. I'm sure that with time, the government won’t just have a choice but to adopt bitcoin.

However, personally, I would probably choose to use Fiat as a medium of exchange, and keep the bitcoins I own.
If everyone keeps on holding their bitcoin, then I will say bitcoin is not really serving its purpose. Bitcoin is supposed to be used as an alternative payment method, so if you are opportune to make payments with bitcoin, then you can do that. I am not asking you not to hold some bitcoin, but you can also have some that can be used for payment.

bitcoin has taken the world by storm for a long time, so when more people use bitcoin as a means of their transactions, it won't be a surprise to anyone anymore. however, as far as i know, regarding the use of bitcoin as a means of payment in some countries it is very strictly regulated, so when you use bitcoin as a means of payment you have to see whether in that region bitcoin is legal as payment or not. because there have been several cases where merchants carelessly accepted bitcoins from their customers, but in the end they ended up being punished. so we need to know about the regulations for paying with bitcoin in a country, so that this doesn't harm us.

Not only as individual but also many companies have accepted bitcoin as payment currencies how to make easily for transaction or giving more alternative kinds of payment. I think some companies accepted bitcoin as payment currency looking the positive side of their business how to make costumer easily when making transaction and helped its for their self with bitcoin price increasing will earn double profitable than payment by fiat.

But some countries make difficult regulation when using or adopting bitcoin as payment transaction and not all company allowed to use bitcoin as payment currency transaction, for individual seems not much problem when using bitcoin as payment way but need to allow government regulation firstly for companies.

You don’t have to blame op and I guess those are one of the expressions that comes with seeing what you thought rare been used in your neighborhood.
Op just to add to what orpichukwu has already said, I think you’re still new in the industry and still new to a whole lot of things but I just want to let you know that, bitcoin is already doing massively well as it is already breaking limits and having it as a means of payment is one of the least you have seen of bitcoin and countries like El Salvador have already accepted bitcoin as a legal tender which simply means that, the regular buying and selling in the country can be through with bitcoin as a legal means of payment and though it must have had a lot of challenges but trust me , the country is doing well with their decisions and reports has it that they’re doing well.

Secondly I believe you must have heard how bitcoin has helped a lot of lives and created a lot of opportunities ranging from trading to investment to being p2p merchants and the rest.
Bitcoin is the future and welcome to the future

Because bitcoin is still a new decentralized digital currency, some countries cannot provide more regulations, it is only a trading asset. Other countries that fully accept Bitcoin as a legal payment asset like El Salvador, it has been a good revolution for Bitcoin payments. now let's see, the more mass adoption of bitcoin the better it will be for the development of bitcoin. This still has many pros and cons and some governments don't want assets that they don't fully control and become legal tender. there are still many challenges for bitcoin in the future.

In my area, this is still quite limited and there are rarely shops that accept payments using BTC. The reason is because of government regulations and they cannot implement them because of the sanctions that will be given, so they don't want to take risks.

after some years now Bitcoin will shock the world, with the way things are going now.
Bitcoin is experiencing rapid progress in my country but is still used as an investment asset. Bitcoin adoption is becoming more widespread from capital cities to remote villages because of the availability of the internet which makes people more familiar with information. Bitcoin is still something that is sought after and in my country bitcoin is still quite talked about as an investment asset because it is gaining quite significant upward momentum.

Now there are many people competing to buy bitcoin because people in my country are starting to be quite open to investment and hope this adoption continues so that everyone can benefit from the investment they make.

In countries where bitcoin is considered a legal currency and the government allows it and the government collects taxes from bitcoin, any store or anything in the country can accept bitcoin as payment without any problem.  There are many people who consider Bitcoin as a potential asset of the future and they believe that the price of Bitcoin will increase in the future, they hold Bitcoin, but there is no business opportunity to hold Bitcoin. Because they have to buy full products with the money of the sold products. so accepting Bitcoin as payment in this case means giving customers the opportunity to make multiple payment methods.  It results in high customer satisfaction.

Actually there is a very unique thing behind that and it's the taxes that governments apply on shopping. In developed countries they can track the BTC payments as well due to technologies available but still some shops owners get rid of the taxes by applying some techniques.

That's why there more concerned about the payments in BTC other wise why would a shopkeeper risk his asset as we all know crypto is volatile. There is one reason behind that and it's the taxes and charges that apply on transactions by governments.

Yeah it maybe a concern but for sure constant learning about how bitcoin work can make them realize on how they can take advantage of this coin. That's why maybe instead of getting afraid of it they still choose to accept bitcoin as one of their payment option.

What country?
Have you heard of a country called El Salvador? If you haven't heard of it, search Google by typing "bitcoin country" and see which country accepted bitcoin as legal tender in 2021. As a result, bitcoins can be freely traded in that country even various products can be purchased with bitcoins If you live in El Salvador or from any store thereBuying something, you can pay in Bitcoin.

I saw on social media Twitter (now X) paying with Bitcoin after eating ice cream from a shop in El Salvador. Also a burger shop in Vietnam is accepting Bitcoin as payment which I noticed on Twitter. However, I personally haven't been able to pay Bitcoin as a payment after buying a product from a store yet because Bitcoin is not legal in our country, so I haven't had that practical experience.

I've as well seen only less numbers of mini shops accepting bitcoin comparing to large mega stores does in my city.
Although I believe there'd had been larger adoptors among investors with their bitcoin willing to utilize it even for the smallest amount of purchases but the to the transaction fees, it has as much affected the petty traders as they also consider making income to be able to restock again.
So I agree with you that the cost of transaction fees has made most traders in the Societies to prefer accepting fiat than the bitcoin. This is why there's more bitcoin transactions during when there's a congestion free.

Accepting bitcoin as a means of payment is not something new as anyone can accept bitcoin and it all depends on the person receiving the payment. For example anyone who is knowledgeable about bitcoin will definitely make use of bitcoin, all this can also create a space for bitcoin awareness unknowingly because most people don’t know about bitcoin, although accepting bitcoin as a mean of payment can also be limited mostly countries going against bitcoin. Regardless bitcoin is still gaining popularity, from my view bitcoin has a lot to offer only for those who understand what bitcoin is and treat bitcoin according to their understanding.

Like when you see a place for the first time and say, it's new, and you friend: nah, it's old, (you) ah! I had not seen it... :) a very simple and basic analogy, but it is at the level of your context, this has been happening for years.

On our local board we have a topic where every time someone gets a commercial location they announce it there, it is outdated and it is in Spanish, but it shows you (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5293216.0), as an example that it has been happening for a long time.

Everyone knows that now many people are aware of the importance of Bitcoin, so now it is not surprising that many shops or shopping places have accepted Bitcoin as a means of payment, there are even countries that accept Bitcoin, even though Bitcoin is not legal, but this is a good start. I hope Bitcoin can be used. receive it at the bank and can accept it as a legal exchange legally in that country.

What country?

El Salvador became the first country to adopt Bitcoin as their official currency, accepting Bitcoin as a means of exchange is one the potentials that Bitcoin holds, and considering it's tremendous increments in value and widespread adoption such that even those that were doubting about the beauty of Bitcoin are now testifying, the global world is growing in digital standardization were Bitcoin is creating and enabling borderless transactions, offering protection against inflation, preserving privacy and creating investment opportunities hence what could be more than this , there is no doubt if shops are now accepting Bitcoin as means of exchange.

Been here since 2016 and started with bitcoin in 2015. I am yet to see a shop in my country with bitcoin acceptance. But indeed it is happening in many other countries we just have to keep running the show till that day happens.

Things have been improving over these 8years, improvements in public approach towards the nature and use of bitcoin. However altcoins have been promoted like anything and already brought in the frowns from the public after they splashed.

Bitcoin has already shocked the world when it started back in 2009. It does not need to shock it again.

Bitcoin has been used to buy and sell goods since the past, look at the country of El Salvador. The country of El Salvador is using Bitcoin as its currency, and all buying and selling transactions are done through Bitcoin. You can never imagine the rate at which Bitcoin is spreading all over the world these days. Because in countries where Bitcoin is illegal they use it secretly, but I think Bitcoin is used all over the world either openly or secretly.

Those who have shops accepting bitcoin as payment will not know what advantage they have over others where their governments are busy chasing them and banning open bitcoin transactions like in my country Nigeria. OP you did not state the country you are from here. I feel bad when I see other people being allowed to use bitcoin freely without hiding to spend what they earned legitimately.

Many shops have opened their door to accepting Bitcoin as an alternative way of paying because they noticed that many people are already buying this. The growing number of Bitcoin investors/users is a ground that establishments will also need to adapt and widen their acceptance. Perhaps, it is already more than a decade that Bitcoin has existed, and it was enough to think that this is legit and are able to understand what is this all about.

Adoption will never grow fast if only the number of investors is increasing but also, it is need for these business groups to cooperate as well.

You are right and that is why we can never get an accurate representation of how many people are actually using or owning bitcoin. Due to its decentralized nature, it’s difficult to determine where and who from each transaction is taking place. The only data we have is from those centralized exchanges.

Every time a country bans something, they are actually not getting rid of it. They are just illegalizing it. Some people are brave and still risk being penalized by the government just to use bitcoin

Yes, of course BTC is currently increasingly popular and it is certainly not surprising that Bitcoin is widely used in several countries to accept payments, such as in shops or bars. yes bitcoin will certainly have the potential to shake up the world in the future and even now many people are starting to like bitcoin because bitcoin can of course be used as an asset for the future or some can also be used as a means of payment but of course not all countries can use btc as a means payment but of course there is a lot of support that can make the number of BTC enthusiasts continue to increase, in essence BTC has very good potential for the future.

The country of El Salvador is an example of a country that has made BTC a legal means of payment and of course El Salvador is now getting positive results because the price of BTC is now skyrocketing, and the El Salvador government since November 16 In 2022 buy BTC every day and of course if you sell BTC now it will definitely make a very big profit, even according to the news I read, if BTC can rise to $100k then the country of El Salvador can pay off its debt to the fund monetary International.

Can you specify what country are you looking for? Here in our country, there's a very limited shops that accepted bitcoin as mode of payment and it is located in an Island or some provinces wherein there's a lot of foreigners having a vacation out there. Some shops are reestaurants, spa and salon but it is not really that famous and bitcoin rarely use as a payment due to high transaction fee, that's why they endes up using cash or credi cards.

I think the country in the news you quoted has the largest market share in Southeast Asia and this can be seen from the size of its population and if I am not mistaken, the country has also adopted BTC the most and this is evidenced by the number of exchanges that have received permission from the local government.

I don't know yet if the country will follow in El Salvador's footsteps and if so. this will be a historical record for the development of BTC adoption, especially Southeast Asia.

It shouldn't be a surprise to anyone that some businesses are accepting Bitcoin as payment, afterall it's a digital cash, and one of the factors that makes the adoption of Bitcoin to be accepted in transactions is because it's common to make fiat digital transfers. People are now used to online transfers which makes it easier for them to diversify to using Bitcoin digital cash. Although many businesses are yet to adopt Bitcoin as a means of accepting payments, they still prefer fiat which has been there for centuries, but I'm positive that in the nearest future that Bitcoin will become a dominant force as a transaction option.

This is not a new news. This year I have seen two Shops in city that is accepting bitcoin as their payment option but when the government started to fight against the centralized exchanges, then I discovered that they have removed the advertisement tag at the Doo post. The government is one of the problem that Shops and businesses are not accepting bitcoin public because they are afraid that the government will go after them.

Well, you are right about people using Bitcoin secretly or not very openly in countries where Bitcoin is either illegal or has no law at all. In my country, we don't have any law regarding cryptocurrencies in general, but the banking sector doesn't allow transactions related to cryptocurrencies, and the government has given signals a couple of times about cryptocurrencies being bad or related to criminal activities, etc.

We do use Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies but since financial institutions are against them and can block our accounts or confiscate our funds, we try our best to not let them know that any of our transactions are related to cryptocurrencies or we can get in trouble for it. Hopefully, we will see this getting better over time.

You can find one in the Philippines though not sure if they maintain the numbers of merchants and local services that supports Bitcoin payment but yeah they are more than convenient this time as fees goes back down and most of them actually uses Lightning Network supported wallets so it's fast and cheap compared to normal transactions. Though I never had tried it but I saw it on YouTube where people especially foreign tourists paying Bitcoins on shops.

Unfortunately not every country is taking advantage of this technology in this manner, which is a slight setback...but I believe with several crypto payment processors out there digital platforms can easily make accepting Bitcoin easy..

But something that I think can make Bitcoin invisible is crypto cards as they can be used where VISA and MasterCard &/American Express are accepted but why are these payment options not as popular as these would facilitate ease of use of our Bitcoins...

soon we will see more and more online shops accepting payments via bitcoin, not only that, we will also increasingly see the financial industry (especially savings and loans) will accept collateral with bitcoin, bitcoin is increasingly popular as a product and this is the magic of bitcoin , you are free to think of Bitcoin as anything (investment asset - money - collateral).

As the day goes by, the popularity of Bitcoin is increasing and people's interest in Bitcoin is increasing. Bitcoin is traded directly in all countries where Bitcoin is legal. Bitcoin market may go higher in the future so you can still invest in Bitcoin if you want to invest you must have a long term plan if you can invest with a long term plan you can definitely get proper success against Bitcoin. Many times it is seen that we are in a hurry to invest in Bitcoin. Many times we lose patience in Bitcoin investment. Many big investors lose patience so we should not lose patience. If we can invest patiently, we will definitely be one of the successful investors.

soon we will see more and more online shops accepting payments via bitcoin,
That is what every bitcoiner wants, but for this to happen, BTC tx fees will have to stay low, because if attacks like runes and ordinals continue in any other form, it would be hard for BTC to be adopted as a currency, and nobody would want to spend it due to the fees they have to pay.
we will also increasingly see the financial industry (especially savings and loans) will accept collateral with bitcoin,
Take note that BTC is volatile, and it is difficult for it to be used as a form of collateral. Maybe in the future when volatility has reduced, then it could be a good option for collateral and loans, without considering what will happen if the price in $ value rises or falls.

Yes, there are actually quite a lot of them. but the problem is whether they are actually legal or not? Because sometimes, there are countries that still have problems using crypto for payments and that is not allowed. If it was a global or international company, maybe it wouldn't be a problem. However, in certain countries, maybe that isn't easy to do. Because of several things:

- Regulations regarding crypto are prohibited from being used as a means of payment
This may happen in some countries, it could be because crypto is illegal or crypto is legal but illegal as a means of profiteering.

- The general public's ignorance about crypto specifically and their fear of using it because of FUD about scams and others

- Understanding of crypto as a distribution is still quite small.
I often think about it because the costs are actually increasing or the method is sometimes considered complicated. So this becomes difficult for shops around us to do directly.

Many are still very ignorant, way ignorant of the existence of bitcoin than we can ever imagine.  If OP is just getting to know,  then it's a plus to his knowledge base.

Shops accepting bitcoin as a means of payment is a good one. After all, this is one of the reasons the coin was introduced in the first place. For every other shop owner or business owner who is triggered by this development and wish to accept bitcoin too as a means of payment,  kindly consider the legality of bitcoin in the area where you operate.  Note also how well your customers and people in the area understand bitcoin and how it works. The knowledge of this will help you run a smooth business and stay out of trouble too.

Everything is hampered by regulations. If the government allows transactions with several options, it's very easy. The most we can do is make a wd and exchange it into fiat then buy and pay for the goods using the legal currency as a means of payment there. Except for fellow players, you can pay but use USDT via sending from fellow users.

Pizza exchange with Bitcoin started on May 22, 2010, since then, Bitcoin's journey to commercialization has largely begun.  So exchanging goods through Bitcoin is not a new system at all, but it could be an important issue in the Bitcoin revolution.  The way Bitcoin's popularity is increasing day by day, in the future Bitcoin will be legalized in different countries as well as the widespread use of Bitcoin in shops and shopping malls.  Bitcoin is currently accepted in countries where Bitcoin is accepted, but in countries where Bitcoin is not accepted, Bitcoin has not yet been exchanged.

I agree with you op, that BTC will shock some countries that refused to accept BTC in their countries, and those countries that adopted BTC some years back are enjoying the benefit of BTC because they made it legal tender for their business people to have access to BTC.

El Salvador government has made BTC legal tender, there are many shops that are accepting BTC as payment because their government has accepted BTC in their country, and you can use BTC to buy any kind of goods and pay with your BTC if you wish and it will be accepted.

The day BTC will be pronounce by the government, that they have make BTC legal tender in the country, i will start accepting BTC in my retail shop because many BTC users will begin to ask some shops owner if they are accepting BTC.

Currently not only shop but also many companies have been accepted bitcoin for payment currency transaction behind the advantage make costumer easily for making transaction.
Since El Savador adopted and make bitcoin as legal payment transaction in their country many companies of shops are accepting bitcoin for legal tender payment transaction. Faster and lower fees have to pay become positive side why using bitcoin for payment transaction and the costumer get more alternative payment when for making transaction.
For bigger shop with digital product is worth accepting bitcoin as payment transaction how to make costumer easily when purchasing on the shop available using bitcoin as payment way, difference when using other stable coin with PayPal because most of risk account getting later although transaction process as faster like using bitcoin.

Many countries still use fiat as a legal means of payment and it seems that this moment will not be long now. Mass adoption continues to grow and spread to various places or countries and maybe we just have to wait and see how the government responds to this so that it can be used and utilized legally in the future. My reason is that changes in the financial landscape are certainly moving forward, not backward.

It's not just online platforms that are accepting Bitcoin payments, other physical shops that are located in countries that Bitcoin is not banned. In El Salvador, it is common that Bitcoin can be accepted in physical shops because Bitcoin have become a legal tender there. Bitcoin payment is so easy and private, only the buyer and the seller knows the amount they transacted.
