Title: [Need] Someone experienced with Facebook ads
Post by: OmegaStarScream on May 25, 2024, 12:05:24 PM
So there is an issue with an Instagram page I'm running for someone I know.

The problem: I have been running ads for this individual for some time now. Everything was working smoothly. All of a sudden, ads are no longer running. What's strange is that I'm using the same settings, the same card, etc. as I always did. There are no errors. It's always reviewed by Facebook and then becomes "Active" but it never reaches any audience.

I have tried using another card, but that didn't do it either. Again, zero errors or warning messages.

It's a very small business but I would like to find someone who's trustworthy enough to take a look (by giving him the ads permissions or something) or tell me the place I should look at.

Something else to keep in mind is that when I gave access to the page to someone else, he managed to run ads just fine. So what could be the issue, and how do I check? Willing to give a small tip for who can help with the issue (let me know how much you want if you think you can do this).

Code:
"Active" but it never reaches any audience.

I would say probably your ad settings or the custom target audiences are probably not selected properly. Facebook could be shadow-banning the ad for violating any of their terms. Your ads could be active and approved but your campaign might not be running. You can just talk to the facebook support agent no?

You should change some of the settings, just like Joel_Jantsen said, you may try to change the target audience settings to see if it works or not. The targeted audience you have selected in the setting might be very narrow in number and that could be the reason why the ads might not be reaching the eye of the audience.

Try to remove targeted audience filters and see if it works or not, and after removing those filters it still doesn't work then there might be another issue, but I believe it will work once you remove the targeted audience filter. If it still doesn't work then you may contact Facebook support team so they could sort out the issue.

I appreciate both of your suggestions, but I did change the settings but that didn't do it. I tried to use the recommended settings and let instagram take care of things, that didn't do it either. I even copied the same saved settings I had in my previous ads that worked just fine...and that still didn't work.

I don't believe this has anything to do with me breaking terms of service. I haven't received any emails from them, and if that was the case, I would imagine they wouldn't have allowed the ad to start with (because before an ad becomes "active", it goes through a review process first).

As for the support agent... then I don't believe they have a live chat?  Do they? For sending an email, its way too confusing and I'm being asked to provide things like Reels Link, etc. when I'm trying to boost a publication with an image only.

Hey sir @OmegaStarScream Don't you think you change area of target like specific region and people to be seeing your ads appears to them, is been awhile I did this but I don't know if they have gradually reviewed their terms of operation concerning running an ads.

As I have mentioned above, I have tried doing that multiple times. I tried with "profile visits" and with "getting more messages" and neither worked.

When you select an audience (location, and gender) it usually tells you how many people fill into that category and for me, it's always in the millions, so I don't see how it never touches anyone.

This happened to our official facebook before but the problem turns out to be on my account that setting the odds. Facebook security flag my account payment method since it was connected to my Paypal which the credit card expired at that time.

Our solution is we made my wife facebook account to become an admin while her account is the one we use to setup an ads instead of my account. It’s very to contest this issue on facebook technical support so we just add an admin and run the ads through that account.

Once your account was flagged. You ads is counted as useless based on my years of experience on running facebook ads on my business page.

I'm not sure I understand though? You said they flagged your account payment method, but is that something I could check somewhere? because like I said, when I connect to Meta business, or ads platform. I don't see any messages. when I run ads using the same credit card, I also don't get any errors. I get a transaction in my banking app saying "Card authorized" just fine.

I think that @Joel_Jantsen is right, the ad is probably shadowbanned because base on your description that you've got no flags that would indicate of a violation or that you were doing something wrong or changing any of the settings, that's the most likely thing that would happen to that ad. No errors but the ads aren't resulting in any traffic, that's the only thing that I can think of, I hope that you get that business ad up and running again, it's a small business after all and I feel bad for the possibility that you were shadowbanned. Is there a possibility that you've missed something in their terms in conditions regarding ads?

I highly doubt I have missed anything.

This can't be something related to the terms of service. Not when it comes to the page publications and posts anyway because if that was the case, no one would've been able to boost them or create ads but that's not the case here. Only I cannot do that. As I have said, I thought its my card at first, but I eliminated that possibility after trying another one.

I have also tried to "Boost again" by clicking some of the ads I ran in the past without any issues, just in case I have missed certain settings, but those do not run either.

facebook ads are a nightmare when things go wrong, no support, no info on what the issue is or how to fix it.

@OmegaStarScream i had the exact same problem a few months ago, tried every possible solution i could think of, but nothing worked, i gave up and closed that ad account and opened a new one.
my guess is the problem is from the ad account, try opening a new one if you don't manage to fix this some other way

Instagram is now planning for un-skippable ads. I could see three continuous ads in my feed recently. I am sure that something is being cooked in the background. Is your problem resolved yet?

I had another ads account but that didn't work on its own. I don't believe there were any issues with my card either, but when I tried a combination of both a new account, as well as a new card. It worked like a charm.

Thanks for the suggestion. Did this ever happen to you in the new account? I mean should I expect it to happen again, or do you have an idea as to what might have caused it in your case? In my case, I don't believe I was doing anything considered "suspicious" as per their terms. Just running ads casually, nothing too expensive either.
