Title: To all new forum users.
Post by: Filippo Spina on June 03, 2024, 08:24:59 AM
Hey so I just found out there's a limit to how many private messages you can individually send per hour.

The rate is 40 per hour. Didn't know that before now, as I was sending invitations to my club out to various forum users.

It is a rate of 40, not 40 PMs in one hour so keep that in mind.

Thought I would share. Thanks.

It depends on your rank, a hero rank member max PMs per hour is 120.

Be careful if you want to send PMs to many users, the higher you send, the higher chance you could get banned if they report your PMs to administrators.

Now, you received a neutral trust from DT user. Edit: two DTs.

If you want to promote your club or project, then create an announcement instead of PMing many users.

ActivityMax recipientsMax recipients if whitelistedMax PMs per hourMax PMs per hour if whitelistedMax PMs per dayMax PMs per day if whitelisted

25015301201203001200
500303012012012001200

You are automatically whitelisted if you buy a copper membership (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=credit;promote). You don't need to wear the copper membership, just own it. You can also be whitelisted for free by any staff member and a few non-staff, but we're going to need some reason to think that you actually deserve it. Do not ask me for free whitelisting.

Whitelisting is a not a license to spam. You will be immediately banned if you're found spamming, even if you bought a copper membership (and you will not be refunded).

I mean, I'm sending out invites individually and not CCing anyone.

How is sending a single pm spam?

My project is not a casino or shit coin unfortunately, so its not getting alot of attention. I thought sending PM of an invitation I worked on to users I looked up to was a good idea.

This is what I sent them:

It would mean the world if you wanted to join sometime.

Also, discussion on my thread is equally appreciated 🧡.

That is unsolicited spam? How is an invite unsolicited. It's an invite, you can just msg me back and say no thank you. Soil my account with neutral trust? Kind of an over reaction no?

You just said you sent at least 40.
29. Sending unsolicited PMs, including but not limited to advertising and flood, is not allowed.

So, after getting 2 3 neutral tags (and potentially more to come), and after having your PM spam reported with a ban waiting for you, you thought it's a good idea to continue advertising in Meta?

Do you even know what unsolicited means?

It works quite well to keep PM spam to a minimum.

Here's something to read OP: Topic title style guide (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=102944.0).

Yep I do, means not asked for.

When I invited my friends to my baby shower, some said no.

They didn't go on my social media and report me/make a fool of me publicly.

Sure you can say I did that to myself.

We're not your friends. We're random people on the internet. There's a few billion of'm, and I don't want them to invite me by PM.

I took the liberty of using a royal "we".

You couldn't just explain that to me privately?

You'd expect 40 people to start explaining that? It's basic netiquette. Here's more reading material:

That is unsolicited spam? How is an invite unsolicited.   --snip--

Absolutely.

Bitcointalk PMs are not destined to become like mailboxes filled with crappy advertising flyers.
Do you know how much PM some of us already receive per day? Can you imagine how many it would be if every project advertised (aka invited) in this way?

Not 40, just a couple have an issue.

At least your taking the time to talk to me about it. The other dude just left the trust and dipped, 🙄.

I'm sorry, k?

Thank you, I'll stick to there and end it.

Again, really sorry, Loyce.

You sent your spam less than 2 hours ago. Many people probably haven't seen your PM yet.

And others just reported your PM without leaving any feedback. I see the feedback as a reference in case it happens again. You made the mistake of spamming many people at once, so you can expect more feedback.

Are you? You're still advertising right here in this topic.
