As we know bitcoin is the fastest growing digital currency outside from other altcoin we know today, most times I have come to reason why most people don't like invest into a bitcoin like to utilize the opportunity as it's still minor and accumulates enough.

Here are some of my findings; you know with the
condition of our country is going it's very hard to understand that bitcoin is not just a digital currency but as a store of value and people doesn't necessarily utilize the usefulness of it creations instead lot of people are using it for immoral activity such as scamming purposes.

I could sight an example of mother whose child is into Bitcoin investment and during maturity the son happened to have sold his bitcoin to fiat after which he took some percent of the money to the mother and brother who are yet to open their eyes about latest development turn it all round for him that he is a fraudster how could he distance home for the duration of 2 to 4 years and came back home with a changing lifestyle, that he is trying to hide his evil activity that he is a scammer and the money was rejected.

To me, to impact people around us maybe our relatives or parents we can call them to order and give them basic knowledge about how the technology is being handled or how it works over times to enable them feels free to join the world changing technology.

Most people has used the word bitcoin in a way whenever they heard it the next thing that quickly comes into their mind is frauds, and this point investment is very hard. There are lots of sites that says invest such amount and received x amount in return all as a ponzi scheme and when they fails it gives bad name to bitcoin because some of those sites only accept bitcoin as a payment method, so even though you go with a genuine intention to tell them the real world about bitcoin they already feels exhausted and hated the word Bitcoin at this point pulling out their heart earned money to invest in bitcoin is like sinking their money into a none fruitful site again with their past experience.

I have posted before on a thread on this local board that people are not seeing bitcoin again as fraud or as a ponzi or hyip scheme. People (including Nigerians) all know that bitcoin is not a ponzi scheme unless the person is a bitcoin critic that no mater how you advice him, he will still find something wrong about bitcoin.

If and only if someone is  behind the world then he/She will see Bitcoin as a scam , although it no news that they are using it for scamming which is rampant in our so called country thus,it will be hard to believe by someone  who had been brainwashed  by what he or she heard about how Bitcoin is being used to scam people .
The world of Bitcoin is more than what it used to be, its more advanced now, before there were some issues  with size of transactions, fees and lot more but now much has been fixed,more businesses now use it as a means of payment and lot more.
Now tell me why investors won't be adamant to invest  more...

Bitcoin is no longer something we're hawking from door to door or raising awareness about like it was a few years ago. Whether you advertise it or not, it's already old news, and whether someone finds it worthwhile to buy or not makes no difference; it's already received the attention it deserves.

That being stated, no one can be forced or expected to invest in or buy Bitcoin. And, not everyone with an interest has the money to invest, and not everyone with the money is interested in it..

As Charles-Tim always clarified, people(including Nigerians) no longer see bitcoin as a scam or a Ponzi scheme. What I sense they are mostly afraid of taking risks of an investment in bitcoin because they don't understand its concepts and can't have their money placed in bitcoin for the long term, instead of the short term.

Haven't known of this, for someone who doesn't have the patience to invest in bitcoin for the long term, bitcoin investment will be a turn-off to them, which they will like to stay far from, not to deal with it

Since BTC has dominated to open d eyes of users, that BTC is a decentralized currency u can use to buy goods in a society that is legal tender and it will be allow which it has made people to always put their money on BTC because is very secure and safe for future use.

If you look around d people that thought BTC is a fraud currency, u will discover that dey are very few in your society and dey don't have d knowledge of BTC, which is d reason dey are seeing BTC as a fraud currency which is not truth.

Some years ago, some group of people said BTC will not going to cross 2 years before it will scam people that put their money, but till now BTC is still dominating in d market to be d king among other cryptocurrencies and it has crossed 10 years to make some people believe is not a scam currency.

e cannot force people to make investment in bitcoin when they are not seeing the reason enough for them to dip step into taking the action on investing in it, then this has to start with us, are we leaving a kind of bitcoiner lifestyle worthy of emulation whereby others can be jealous of, or are they seeing us and are making gest of us for wasting our time on what is not productive, we should simply live by example and with time, that will motivate others to also adopt and invest on bitcoin willingly.

Even our number one man dey reject bitcoin then parents would definitely do that. If you introduce bitcoin some educated people they would first ask you if the government has approved it. And now that federal government is fighting against bitcoin from the centralized exchanges and stopping them from banks to make transaction with them would make some people to be afraid to use them. And another thing wey dey make people e dey adamant or investing in bitcoin is because of the price. For now the price is high and they don't want to start the investment with big amount so they are waiting for the price to come down.
Scammers are everywhere in the internet. So calling bitcoin has scam is not a new thing and it is left for us to still tell them that bitcoin is not a Ponzi Scheme.
And I think in this present day now I don't think there is any family left in this country that doesn't know what is bitcoin unless the core pastors houses. And even at that the children would know.

You are very correct because Bitcoin awareness have gone viral and there are a lot of people in the streets that are even looking for who will guide them through on how to invest in Bitcoin because majority of people have access to social media and they do come across scenes whereby someone will be talking about investing in bitcoin and other people that are commenting will also support and say positive things about Bitcoin infact, anyone who still thinks that bitcoin is scam now is either an illiterate or they lack exposure because i know how many people that have been disturbing me about their interest for bitcoin but i only choosed few that have investment mindset and the ability to withstand risks because when introducing people to bitcoin you will settle down and explain every nitty-gritty (absolutely everything they need to know) about bitcoin both the risks that are also attached to it.

1) Economy factors; We all know how hard it's been for a common citizen to survive in the country due to the fact that the government can't provide job opportunities for her citizens neither do they cares of their welfares so, most citizens who has the desires to invest on bitcoin are focused on survival via essential consumable stuffs such as foods and meds. So can't afford to invest on bitcoin.

2) Educational influence; Most of the persons in our society today is being adamant to invest on bitcoin simply because their standard of intelligent or mental civilization isn't up to the digital era to undertake the risks of digital financial technology such as having their funds invested on bitcoin, it's assumed to them that the technology isn't realistic to be relied on when they're totally zero knowledge of it so, they'd as well having zero thoughts and trusts over it

3) Social influence; We've all agreed that bitcoin as the most reliable and reputable crypto coins invention was followed by some AltCoins which most are basically of the developers interests and not considered the profitabilities of the adoptors and the Investors, so, when such crypto projects are being dubious of scamming people around especially the inexperienced Investors, of course it clamours to bring doubts to bitcoin because they're all of cryptocurrencies according to mindsets of the newbies.

4) Government; The government has also played indirect role by distracting and discouraging Interested citizen no decline from investing on bitcoin after and during the sanctions of the government over the crypto exchanges. It speculates and incites fears amongst the public that if the government can be against such digital financial system then it's assumed some phishing potentials is attached to it.
It's just unfortunate that bitcoin has always been a frontline to such due to its dominance in the cryp sphere.

5) Unseriousnes; Some persons are opportuned to invest on bitcoin because they've the finance and are knowledgeable to an extend about bitcoin and truly know it's a recommendable financial system to store values and also investment for profits but they'd be ignorant and unserious to partake on it, they'd always say they'll they'll til time passes by where they're faced with challenges such as loosing of jobs, retirements without plans or during an economy inflations. Then they lives to regret it all.

Over to you OP, if your parents is such in doubt with you about your source of income and they don't seems updated to the digital technology, it's assumed risky of you disclosing your bitcoin investment to them because they can always take it to another party fur verification which can compromise your security. Don't think parents of such would have the interest to invest in the bitcoin just because you as their son was successful in it. It's better of you telling them you work remotely online and exempt bitcoin or related crypto involvement.

Bitcoin is a tool that promotes privacy and anonymity, and because generating a bitcoin wallet requires no form of identity, people often use it for fraudulent purposes. These are the individuals who make the government think negatively about bitcoin and regard it as a tool for scams, they tend to neglect the good benefits it provides and also neglect it’s true purpose and try to kick against it. The truth is everyone cannot be good, there will definitely be the bad ones and no even though the government bans it’s use people will still look for means to carry out their evil actions (fraud and scam has been in existence even before the establishment of bitcoin).


This is as a result of ignorance. I have seen couple of mothers who condemn their children whhen they don’t understand the sources of their income, they are being protective and it’s good to question your child’s source of income but if you have raised him well then you should have nothing to fear. In our country a lot of parents believe any child into an online work is a fraudster labeling every other work as fraud because of the common yahoo boys work. I think the best way to avoid such accusations is to let your parents in on what you are into at an early stage even before you start making money.

Even the older Nigerians are fully aware that Bitcoin is legit at least the government has made them aware since the attack on cryptocurrency. The other day i was telling some persons that what the government where doing will not hinder the growth of Bitcoin in Nigeria instead it will create more awareness to the public. Through the radio stations and News Televisions and the blogs newspaper. Many who though that cryptocurrency were fraud begin to understand that the government were into it if not how are they aware of how it works.

I think the main reason why people have not invested in Bitcoin is because of lack finance and self-conviction. There are lots of people who wants to join the train but do not have the money, up till date they wished they can buy some Bitcoin one day. And the other set of people are those who still have doubt and lack convictions on how successful they can be if they go into Bitcoin. No matter how Bitcoin gain awareness or is made legit to the public if an individual does not have personal convictions and capital he won't start any investment.

People dey adamant to invest for Bitcoin because dem dey confuse bitcoin and other altcoins, shitcoins,meme coins and other digital currencies wey dey now but dem no know say bitcoin dey entirely different from those other crypto. But e dey surprising to me say some guys no dey too gree invest for Bitcoin, dem dey miss out on the chance to accumulate well. Na true say for our country, e dey hard for some people to see say Bitcoin no be just digital money, e be like store of value. Some guys dey use am for bad things like scams instead of using am for better things.

That story wey you yarn about the guy wey sell him Bitcoin and him family think say e dey do fraud, e dey touching. E dey important make we educate our people about Bitcoin and how e fit help them. People dey quick to think say Bitcoin na scam because of the fraud wey dey happen for some sites wey dey promise big returns wey no dey real. E dey hard to convince them to invest for Bitcoin when dem don see bad things like that. Some sites wey dey collect Bitcoin as payment just dey spoil Bitcoin name more. Even if you wan explain the real deal about Bitcoin, dem fit don tire and hate the word Bitcoin. E dey tough for them to put their money for Bitcoin after bad experiences with those sites.

It quite unfortunate that even with how popular and fast growing cryptocurremcy is most people are still not satisfied with the realness of Bitcoin especially in this country were most people do not believe that something good will ever come out online and as such giving them the mindset that anybody that ventures on investment online is a scammer forgetting that technology has improved so much that people know longer depend on physical work to survive.

However one thing I know is that as time goes by most people will start changing there mind and invest on Bitcoin because if we even check properly now majority of people who are currently buying and holding Bitcoin is probably those that were skeptical about Bitcoin at the beginning but after learning and understanding the potential of Bitcoin they decided to change there mind and invest, so perhaps that's probably how people will keep coming into Bitcoin as they are realizing the potential.

Don't blame our parents for thinking anyone who doesn't have a physical job is into fraud because some youths have made it clear that hustling in the right way can't give them the money they want or that a legit hustle does not pay. Some of our parents are aging, and they are not aware of the latest improvements and innovations in the world right now. We must let them know of the latest happenings that can allow us to make money while we are in bed. This will help our parents know how we make our money and what we are into, and they will stop having the impression that we are making money in the wrong way.

That's exactly what happened to me and to an extent, I just gladly accepted the name and graceful snubbed and avoided any explanation of me being a Bitcoin investor rather I just go with the term already tagged on me which is a "Bitcoin scammer" and I believe it's kind of also sooting to know that you don't fucking owe anyone an explanation and even saves you from any unnecessary bills and money request because to an extent some of the people am supposed to give money to actually avoided me like am some kind of scammer whose source of income is illegal and this is exactly what poor mentality can do if you are open minded

Well sincerely speaking you can't tell because to us it's not something new anymore neither do we need to preach about bitcoin door to door as @Igebotz already said, there are people who don't still have this knowledge about bitcoin this could be those people aren't familiar with internet or that are not interested with any digitalization.

Although vast majority of people knows bitcoin even as that there are people who don't still learn from their mistake except it befall them to learn a great a lesson, do you also know that there are people who knows about bitcoin but doesn't have a basic knowledge how it's being operated this people are the sets of humans that are so desperate to put their money in anything that relates with Bitcoin provided that they would received profit back in back in bitcoin.

Why do I say this?
There's a friend around us here who has been longing to have received some free bitcoin, with the mindset that when she download those app automatically she will starts receiving bitcoin without her work or invest in bitcoin.

She downloaded series of app and wants to mine bitcoin when she showed me I told her is fake, that she would mined to some certain extent after which she could be required to pay some withdrawal fee after which they will scam her.

And guess what? She was nearly scammed but since I had already given her the hint she wasn't that too fast to go pay fee to withdraw the so called satoshi from the mining app.

I don't think that is a reason enough to make people adamant to invest in Bitcoin, because what I think is the primary reason is that people lacks knowledge about this new digital currency called Bitcoin, which happens to be the bedrock of their fear. But I'm happy as time goes on, people have come to understand that Bitcoin is the currency of the future, and the surest way to avoid inflation of wealth.

4 years is never enough to get you a life changing profit of a Bitcoin investment, or unless you are a trader who does both future, p2p and e.t.c to generate over 1000% to 10,000% profits in 4yrs. But moreover, the awareness of Bitcoin/cryptocurrency has really been massive this 2024, as compared to past 3 to 4yrs when people literally had little or no knowledge about what it's all about.

Your thread is very nice but I don't think the reason why people don't invest in Bitcoin it's just because of the fact that they see it as a scam I mean that was an old view of Bitcoin, the world is changing so is people mindset and the way they see things is also Changing and believe
me people who still see Bitcoin as scam are old people who grow up with that mentality and some people who are yet to know more concerning Bitcoin. This time around a lot of people are craving to join cryptocurrency and Bitcoin while some are regretting why they didn't invest in it since that is to say that they are regretting what they see Bitcoin as back then but right now I think the reason why most people don't invest in Bitcoin is because of funds and lack of Bitcoin knowledge, the country is so hard and there are things that are not going well, you can't expect someone that is finding it difficult to eat to invest in Bitcoin or someone that is working where the salary or wages is not good to invest in Bitcoin.

However, I don't even think it's compulsory to invest in Bitcoin, everybody must not invest in Bitcoin to be successful. And talking about a friend who travelled and came back home with lots of money  I mean it's somehow, even if I am the parents or brother I will first like to know how come about the money  cause who knows if he has done something outside Bitcoin but now cause of hardship and some other things I don't think some parents and brothers will reject the money though it is good to know where the money is coming from.

Well at this point I think it's beyond their fear for fryd that is stopping them, bitcoin has stayed long enough for them to confirm that it's legitimate and lots of positive news about the price is also out there to encourage them, so if its not fear and its not the price then what, I'll tell you, its lack of knowledge, many people have heard about bitcoin but still doesn't know what it is, no has told them and despite this information been online they won't search it to find out, and those that know about it are still thinking that hey need to buy a whole bitcoin to have one, they Don know taht they can start accumulating bitcoin little by little through the DCA strategy and they don't even have any idea what that is, in my opinion we might not need to preach to anyone about bitcoin or to tell them is legitimate but still people need to know what bitcoin is and the freedom it offers over fait and how they can start getting it with the little they have, now this is what the public doesn't know and that's what we need to teach them.

You are right. They are not compelling anyone to invest in bitcoin or anything else that has worth. If you explain it to him and he doesn't cooperate like someone who is interested, you should just leave him and do what is important because when you force someone to invest and later lose, he will never believe you again and will bring an argument between your self, you don't know or when you explain to him he doesn't have much money that he will invest for long term to be profitable because you are disturbing him, he will try to invest and if the market did not go well he will complain and still talk rubish about bitcon. So everyone who does not believe in bitcoin should just be and forget about him because not everyone believes the truth, so let them continue to talk and we will benefit from it. Because I'm sure people who are saying negative things about Bitcon should know that it's real. It's just that they don't have the money to invest or they're doing it in secret so no one knows they're investing, and they will continue saying bad things about Bitcoin in public, which is inaccurate.

You can elegantly advise on Bitcoin and that is certainly reasonable even though Bitcoin is a volatile and safe investment medium. You can ask him to research about price charts which will help him to decide on his own. This is how you should keep quiet about investing in Bitcoin.

Let me tell you my experience - in my student life a friend was a very good student and he was doing something besides studies but he didn't tell anyone and his financial condition was comparatively very comfortable. I asked him many times what he actually does but he refused to say anything. After about 1 year he told me he is a bitcoin holder and he belongs to the forum. What I mean by this is that if you can create a good position for yourself in the society like financial stability or some positive aspect of yourself then everyone around you will try to focus on you and it will be easier for you to understand them about that.

If you focus only on Bitcoin, people will focus on you and then they can be enthusiastic about the way you show them.

Times differs and every phase of life has an investment choice that's preferred by them. In our digital generation where youths are conversant with current and emerging technology, it's easy to educate them about Bitcoin and the blockchain technology and encourage them to start off there investment at an early age but that's how far we can go. If you want to educate most of our parents, they wouldn't understand it most expecially when you talk to them about the volatility aspect of Bitcoin investment.

Most of our parents are looking out for investment option they can see physically like making purchase of land, building house for rent or buying car for hire purchase. If you bring them such investment ideas and tell them what they can get at the end of the month or year, it's going to be easier for them to understand and consider the investment choice than learning a whole lot of things about Bitcoin and how to take care of thier wallet and for some of them that don't even know how to handle Thier mobile device, it's likely that they won't subscribe to that idea. But for the aspect of teaching the our younger ones, that's the best set of people that will benefit maximally from investing into Bitcoin at an early age as they have a good range of time to build their portfolio and grow into knowing that they have something to start life with.

Irrespective that Bitcoin is the most reliable grow digital currency I still believe that one of the major reason why some people may not consider Bitcoin as reliable means of investing their money is lack of information and knowledge about the system. No matter the increased awareness of Bitcoin a lot of people still don't have the basic knowledge of Bitcoin processes, so I think before encouraging someone to invest in Bitcoin there is need to sensitize the person to gain the prerequisite knowledge of Bitcoin as a means of investment. Some people think say Bitcoin na get rich quick scheme by investing in those scam sites, na people with no knowledge about crypto dey fall victim of this site. Well, that's how good investors are emerge because mistake makes and shapes you towards been a good investor.

Looking at some ofthe narrative the wrong people have brought to Bitcoin, it becomes a sad thing and such that almost no body really wants to be in connect with because they think it's al about the crime for which the wrong persons have portrayed it to be. Bitcoin as a store of value is a concept that most people who aren't exposes enough don't eventually get to understand especially in developing countries like Nigeria, they believe it's only fraudulent activities or ponzi that can get your money increase in value over a period of time, it's just that they lack the exposure and knowledge a d so I wouldn't want to really throw much blame at them but when ever we get affected directly, it's important we educate the people around us so they get to see the light beyond the wrong conception they have had all this while about Bitcoin. A Bitcoin investment just like a land investment is definitely going to appreciate and if they know this simple concept, it will go a long way in helping them change their mind set about Bitcoin and it's investment.

When it comes to Bitcoin investment and all the opportunity that the crypto space presents, I feel its more better to actually keep some of the things you know to yourself because a lot of person out there are actually ignorant fool who if you even try to convince them in seeing the beautiful opportunity that this media offers will still turn it on you and blame if they probably get the whole picture wrong

You can be a profitable investor only if you can spread your success to everyone. A self-centered attitude can be detrimental to a society as well as a country as a whole by creating more and more rich and poor groups. Being positive in your relationships with different categories of people and appreciating them can make you great. Later on they may follow you and maybe  make them more interested in Bitcoin investment. But you will never understand a class of stupid and ignorant people because they like to criticize more and they are inferior. I think in places like the crypto space, especially bitcoin, historically you've been hard to convince someone to invest in because it's so volatile.But you have to be strategic in promoting its price chart and potential as well as practicing yourself to be more BTC holder.

I will say that there are so many reasons why people are adamant to buy bitcoin. Lack of job or lack of good job can make people adamant to buy bitcoin. In our country, we know that majority of the citizens are poor and the jobs that they have cannot take proper care of them, and  their responsibility is more than their income. At the end of the month, there will be no disposable income left which they can use to buy bitcoin. While some of them don't have any means of income and they survive by the grace of God. Remember if you don't have a means of income and disposable income, buying bitcoin will not be beneficial to you, because you will not hodli for long and you will sell once you face a big financial challenge, and run at loss if bitcoin price is below the price that you bought.
The price of bitcoin can also discourage a lot of people who don't know that they must not buy one full bitcoin but they can buy in fractions. These people have interest to buy but they cannot. Lack of confidence in bitcoin due to fear of the unknown is still a problem why people are adamant to buy bitcoin. Lack of mentor, you don't just go and tell someone to buy bitcoin when he is not seeing the evidence of investing in bitcoin on you. Procrastination and Government FUD are barriers to some person that made them not to buy bitcoin. The fact is that no matter how bitcoin price skyrocket, there must still be bitcoin haters that willnnot invest in bitcoin. So if you put all these factors in to consideration, you will see that people will fall in these different categories and the percentage of people that are adamant to buy bitcoin is higher than those that have bitcoin.

Fraud have been the orders of the day with the mere mention of bitcoin, everyone turn around to see one as scammer, perhaps those that have basic knowledge of bitcoin utilized the piece of information for their personal ends meet and ensure they're taking in everything valuable to hits top targets. I have tried to explain to some elderly people about bitcoin investment, but they usually say that they need a physical asset to invest in, so that they can have a document of ownership. That they don't need an online Investment. that online Investment may closedown one day and you won't hold any body responsible or if it fall will I refund them? I said no. And judging from their own side of the story and how Cryptocurrency works, bitcoin may fall to zero and you can't hold any body accountable for it and that is true. At that moment I don't have any convincing mind anymore. I just said bitcoin investment is risky and I will not force anybody because if anything should happens, like bitcoin dip so low and the person who invested under you asks you to sell his coin and it didn't come out in full due to fall in price, you may have to explain further.

But the fact is that we will not give up in promoting bitcoin but we should be mindful with the people we tell about bitcoin because many people will have another interpretation of it. The reason is that our country lacks truth, honesty and sincerity which has helped scammers achieve their goals in frauding ,even within family members, friends and others are no longer who you really think they are when it comes to money, i don't know if it is our economy, situations we find ourselves has turned people behaving like that or it has to do with our moral upbringing. Lies has become the order of the day in our country and so people are confused when it has to do with Bitcoin because even if they you have the real source that is genuine ,they are sceptical of being scammed again not that they don't believe or adamant, is to get a trustworthy person. You are completely right, people don't longer see Bitcoin as a scam again, they are all aware of what Bitcoin is now, they don't see anything wrong with it again, even when they are being scam, they can now differentiate between the real and fake now.

There are various reasons why people choose to not invest in Bitcoin which they know fully well that if they can overcome this part they will surely invest in it. But the main reason i see is ignorance. Most people are very ignorant of starting their Bitcoin journey, there excuses ranges from no capital to invest, how to start investing/ how to not lose there funds if they invest and to mention a few. Bitcoin has an uptrend and downtrend movement which is the same thing to other asset. There are times that an asset will do so well and give good profit and sometimes it will drop in value.

Accepted,this is the main reason why some person can't have faith or trust in Bitcoin no matter how profitable and reliable you explain bitcoin to them, they still feel is scam and they will be scammed, because when introducing other cryptocurrency to them ,they call it Bitcoin because that is the name that goes viral and profitable in digital currency and investment, and so i don't blame those who are still adamant to know that bitcoin is genuine and different from others .

Lol, this is why quite a lot of people dey talk say religion is the bane of the masses and it causes people to be ignorant without question.
