Honestly, after reading the article I was confused af, need some good input & insight from experts here.

Trustwallet is a hot wallet, it's only as safe as your devices are. So if you're using it on an infected mobile device or PC, your funds are at risk. Cold wallets on the other hand (e.g hardware wallets) are way more secure. There is nothing wrong with using a hot wallet though (maybe something other Trustwallet), but for large sums of money? Cold wallets are the way to go.

Trustwallet is a hot wallet. Cold wallets (e.g hardware wallets) are better (way more secure) especially if you're holding large sums of money.

Do you have a reference to a thread that discusses it in a complex way? I want to know more, I'm sure here I can get deeper insight than just reading in news outlets about crypto.

Trust wallets are not as good as cold wallets because trust wallet is supposed to be used only for daily use. If you want to store and hold BTC for the long term then a cold wallet should be the best to store BTC for long-term holding because a cold wallet should never connect to the internet meaning you are far from online attacks.
Like sample Electrum in tails OS this is the best cold storage for BTC.

For long term storage, especially if you are new and don't know cold storage yet or just want safety and ease of use, hardware wallets are the most popular choice. And a topic on them is here: 56 Hardware Wallets, compared feature by feature (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5416497.0)

Some more small things, maybe as a start for more to research:
- the OS matters a lot for your question. And you didn't state that.
- imho a good software wallet must be non-custodial and offer all that's needed for use as cold storage too (i.e. use one copy on a device that will never go online as cold storage and another copy as a watch-only online wallet)
- keep in mind that a wallet never holds your coins, only the keys to spend them. This means that you must keep your seed/private keys/backups very safe

You can use electrum wallet and I know it's more reliable than trustwallet and is open source wallet.
For altcoin you can use metamask wallet because it support 0x and I believe any token that accept 0x can receive funds from there. But if you must received token from airdrop it's better you install trustwallet that is easier to operate although I know there are many wallets you can used to receive payment from airdrop but let it be an ERC20 or Bsc.

As any online device is always prone to hacking, it's recommended to go for a cold storage, especially if you hold big amount of fund.
And if you want to use a hot wallet for any reason, you should avoid any close-source wallet like trustwallet. There is no way to know how the keys are generated on trustwallet and whether they are stored on their server or not.

Trustwallet is a hot wallet, it's only as safe as your devices are.
Considering that trustwallet is close-source, it may not be as safe as your device. It's possible that there's a vulnerability in trustwallet that cause people to lose their fund while their device is safe and not infected with any malware.

I support Adbitco's suggestion. Since you are looking for a bitcoin wallet, then Electrum is your best choice.
It's a free, open source and non-custodial wallet. I've been using it for years as an online wallet with no problems.
However, you can also set it up to be used as an offline wallet. Here is a guide on how to use Electrum to create a cold storage wallet:
https://electrum.readthedocs.io/en/latest/coldstorage.html

Hardware wallets remain the best choice if you don't mind spending a small amount of money for better security and ease of use.

Trust wallet claimed they used to be an open sourced...they are currently closed source.
The thing is If you really care about privacy  then you can use a non custodial  wallet  like Electrum but that doesn't still guarantee  your coin is still safe because you can still connect to Internet and get alot of stuffs into your device(I beleive you are looking for a wallet to keep your coin safe which is why I'm saying this... it's a little bit off).
The best way to keep your coin safe is using a cold storage, use can harware wallets, set up your a watch only wallet with an airgapped device...

In addition to what been said by others in the thread, it is also important to note when choosing Bitcoin wallets if the wallet is closed source or open source. Trust wallet is closed source which means you cannot review their code. There are better wallets for bitcoin than Trust Wallet, I personally recommend Electrum. But if you are still considering using Trust Wallet because it supports altcoins, you can use Unstoppable for storing your altcoins.

Trust wallet is a non custodial but closed source wallet, that alone does not makes it a perfect choice, if it was then an open source non custodial wallet, then we could have seen it as a kind of perfect choice, all i will give you is to choose any wallet that is under a cold storage category because they are non custodial wallet.

Honestly, after reading the article I was confused af, need some good input & insight from experts here.

You may consider any of these wallets

Bitcoin Core (https://bitcoincore.org/en/download/)
Passport (https://foundationdevices.com/passport/)
Electrum (https://electrum.org/)
Sparrow (https://sparrowwallet.com/) Bluewallet (https://bluewallet.io/)

You're not wrong in using that wallet as most of the newbies think the same way that it's fine to use it but you'll learn the importance of the choice of wallets in the process and the difference between closed and open source. With small amounts to keep in that wallet, I don't think there's anything wrong. But look and read what everyone has been saying if it's about larger funds, you have to choose the better wallet as said the cold wallets that you'd rarely connect to the web, one example is a hardware wallet. This list contains hardware wallets: https://bitcoin.org/en/choose-your-wallet?step=5&platform=hardware
But one of them has been avoided by the community because of the ugly update about its recover feature, the Ledger so cross that out on your list. And for some feedback and discussions about those wallets, you can check the Hardware wallets (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=261.0) section for the community's thoughts and experiences about them.

If you are hodling less than $1000 worth of bitcoins, you can use a hot wallet for storage. But if your bitcoins are above $1000 you should buy a hardware wallet and move your coins there. The safest wallets are open-sourced and airgapped wallets. Like I said before, if your hodlings are small and you cannot afford a hardware wallet, you can also use an open source, non-custodial wallet like Electrum. Hot wallets are prone to attacks since they are on mobile device so it is important you know how to use and secure them. I shared some links below to help you:

There definitely are forum threads that delve deeper into this.  While I cannot point you to a specific thread at this time, I think a simple search function or Google might get you started.

In the simplest terms, cold wallets are those that never connect online directly. Most often, they are in the form of an external hardware device that is used to store the private keys of your wallet and sign transactions. But they cannot broadcast signed transactions. For that you will need the associated software or a hot wallet.

The best wallet for storing Bitcoin in my eyes is Electrum.  I've been using it for many years and I've never faced any issue with it.

If your intention is to store your Bitcoin for long term then you should go for Electrum wallet with an air-gapped system.

Using a non-custodial wallet does not give you privacy, what it gives you is control of your coins. If you are concerned about privacy, you will have to use a full node wallet like bitcoin core, or run your own node and connect your SPV wallet to it.
Now I only use Trustwallet to store Bitcoin I have. Am I in the right type of wallet to store my Bitcoin?
No you are not, the right type of wallet is one that is open source and non-custodial, it should also be offline depending on the amount of bitcoin in your portfolio.

Hot or cold wallet has different technical characteristics and use cases and depends on your personal need, you will choose a best wallet for yourself.

It depends on your purpose for the hot wallet that you will store with your device and keep accessible you can use the electrum wallet they are supported even in the mobile so seed phrase is a must if you want to access your wallet. If you want to use your asset just to hold for a long term ideally use the Trezor or Ledger wallet, personally I'm using a Trezor and I don't face any issue while using this also I can connect with electrum wallet. Other links given already by the members so it's up to you now what you will choose.

For convenience and if you don't want to use a decent hardware wallet (don't use Ledger crap), devide your bitcoins into a hot wallet that holds a small amount you could afford to loose by malware or hacking. Larger value goes to cold storage or a hardware wallet.

Preferably use your (hot) wallet on a device which you don't use for your daily internet shit. Avoid Windows OS as a base for your crypto wallet stuff (due to market share it's the main target for malware and hackers). Less exposure, less problems.

Being your own bank comes with responsibilities, educate yourself on computer security and secure handling of valuable data!

With hot wallets, risk is bigger than cold wallets but make sure to use strong passwords to protect bitcoins in these hot wallets better.

Hardware wallet or cold wallet. If to store assets in small amounts, software wallets for small transaction payments, wallets like bluewallet can be used.
I do not recommend Trust Wallet for use even though the amount of assets is not much. Using Trust Wallet is not right in my opinion what you have done. Switch now.

I have some threads in mind, which might help you to get an idea about all kinds of wallets. Things to keep in mind before accumulation of Bitcoin (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5413303.0) This article has a part where the OP explained about types of wallets that are best to hold BTC. And you will find another link within this article which is --> [Crypto Wallets] Cold and Hot Wallets and their Approach (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5413117.0#msg60916875). Control is the most important thing that you need when trying to store your bitcoins and the problem with hardware wallet is not everyone can afford it. Whales use hardware wallet because the safety of their assets is their priority you won’t see any whale keeping their funds in an exchange because they know the dangers that it comes with starting from security what if the exchange go bankrupt it will affect you so many reasons you should not keep your money in an exchange and their are other wallets that are safe as far as you don’t give out the deed  phrase to anyone what ever wallet you might be using, make sure the seed phrase is kept safe that is all that matters as far as you are not keeping your money in an exchange am okay with that. Some people are still finding it hard to know the importance of seed phrase.

Trust wallet is a non-custodial wallet and it gives you control over your assets, but it is a closed source wallet and that does not make it a good option to keep your assets. Someday there could be a bug or vulnerability in trust wallet that will cause you to lose your money if you use it, just as it happened with Atomic wallet, because people cannot verify its code; thus it is never a good thing to use a closed source wallet, and trust wallet is one.

Why should you use a Trust wallet when a wallet similar to the Trust wallet that supports more coins such as the Unstoppable wallet is better to use.
Unstoppable wallet open source. The features are many. No matter how good a wallet like unstoppable is, it is categorized as a less secure wallet because it still has access to the internet.

Wallets that are connected to the internet are called hot wallets and there is no guarantee that assets will be safe, let alone errors in the initial installation process. Cold wallets are safer because they are not connected to the internet. Wallets that do not have access to the internet are more secure against attacks, such as hardware wallets, thus providing a sense of security for users from online crime.

Hopefully you can find the answer to which wallet is better to use as asset storage.

You are right that Trust Wallet is not best choice for storing your money because it is closed source. This means that nobody can check code to make sure it is safe. If there is mistake or weakness in code you could lose your money like what happened with Atomic Wallet. On the other hand open source wallets are safer because many people can check the code and make sure it is secure. So it is usually best to use an open source wallet to keep your money safe.

You aren't in the "right type of wallet" to store your Bitcoin. I suppose storing means your coins there aren't for spending. But even if it is for spending, a wallet that has a private source code isn't recommended. A wallet that is closed-source but lies to be open-source is much worse. And that's precisely what Trustwallet is doing. Moreover, Binance owns Trustwallet. In other words, Trustwallet isn't to be trusted.

Move your funds from there. Move means you send your funds to another wallet. It isn't using another wallet, a safer one, by importing your seeds from Trustwallet. That would be pointless.

Anyway, https://walletscrutiny.com/ might be of help in choosing which wallet to use next.

~snip~

I think that $1000 is still too high a limit to which someone should use hot wallets, and that anything over $500 definitely requires a hardware wallet or some type of cold storage. It should also be taken into account that the value of what we keep can change, so that $1000 worth of BTC can be worth $1500 in a month, and maybe twice as much in 1 year.

The risk of storing in hot wallets (especially mobile wallets) is simply too great, and if someone cannot afford to lose $1000 at any time, then they have no choice but to find another solution as soon as possible.

I would advocate Passport 2, the open source, air-gapped and user-friendly hardware wallet  which, in my view is number one, in the class of the personal Bitcoin storage, and I'm not alone who subscribe to such opinion, pretty much everybody in the forum's HW section take this view.

Regarding Trust wallet, i would not credit it with any amount of satoshes due to the number of flaws found in the past (DYOR, and read (https://community.trustwallet.com/t/browser-extension-wasm-vulnerability-postmortem/750787) for the start). Will be found more? Who knows...

Trust wallet is good but not completely reliable, it is only safe if your device is safe, once someone get access to your phone or laptop, your wallet can get hacked; it is a closed source hot wallet.
There are better wallets to be used than Trust wallet; Electrum wallet is very good for holding Bitcoin than Trust wallet since in trust wallet you can hold altcoin that are literally not completely safe because even the team can be strange at times; therefore, for easy access, use Electrum or Bluewallet to hold your bitcoin, but if you can afford offline wallets they are perfectly good because any wallet online is prompt to hack.

There are many types of wallets available but not all of them have a much better level of security. I have long switched from Trustwallet because there is no much better level of security and instead now I am using Electrum. To make the clamp right or not it must be a consideration and maybe not Trustwallet is the safest wallet to store the bitcoin assets we have. If you want to store bitcoin in the long term then you should learn other wallets because it will be very detrimental when the assets you have are lost.

But if asked to me then you should use the electrum wallet because this wallet is much better than Trustwallet. About the advantages and disadvantages, maybe you can search for the Electrum discussion topic because the forum has discussed this.

I agree that this HW is currently probably the best device that can be bought and that it provides top security. The only "flaws" are its slightly higher price and perhaps a little more complicated use, given that it is an airgapped device that communicates with the selected user interface via QR codes or an SD card.

Maybe for those of us who know a little more, it doesn't seem like a "problem", but beginners and those with less experience might find it more difficult to deal with such a concept.

Your statement saying "it is only safe if your device is safe" is true when talking about a trustworthy open-source wallet like electrum, not about trustwallet.
As you know trustwallet is close-source and we don't know how the keys are generated. So, it's possible that you lose your fund due to vulnerability in trustwallet while your device is safe.

The only "flaws" are its slightly higher price and perhaps a little more complicated use, given that it is an airgapped device that communicates with the selected user interface via QR codes or an SD card.[...]
Using hot wallets is easier and faster than using cold wallets. Most are free to use and offer the same features as cold wallets. However, everyone has their own priorities, preferences, and needs. For example, someone conducting daily transactions would find using hot wallets an ideal choice. On the other hand, someone looking to hold investments for the medium to long term and seeking maximum security would find cold wallets very suitable, regardless of their purchase price.

Electrum and Mycelium are among the best wallets I see as ideal for beginners. It is worth noting that regardless of which wallet the user chooses, he must have sufficient knowledge to secure his seed phrases in a safe place and follow necessary security measures to avoid fraud.

I have seen this question pop up all over the internet for several years because this isn't a one shoe fits all answer as far as I know!

As a matter of fact different users different usage...if you are a user that will want to leave coins in a wallet for a long time without having to touch them, then a reputable cold wallet is what you looking for ( just remember to have a backup saved somewhere to avoid losing your coins), then for a user that's always sending and receiving coins on a regular basis I think this is an unpopular opinion but you could use a exchange wallet to cut on transaction fees and avoid those conversion fees that you could be exposed to for changing one coin to another  ::) this is based on first hand experience but don't leave your life savings here incase something goes awry with the exchange.. otherwise hot wallets depend on how clean our devices are and should be the most used afaik thanks to their ease of use..

I also wonder why beginners easily go to trust wallets instead of doing research to know how good and reputable the wallet is before attempting to use it. At least it is part of learning before investing, which we expect newbies to have gone through before making any wrong move in cryptocurrency that may likely lead them to losing their money to scammers.
I am not saying that TrustWallet is not good, but it is a closed-source wallet that is easily manipulatable; one can use an unstopable wallet as you suggested; it supports several altcoins; and it is more secure than TrustWallet.

If a newbie wants to hold Bitcoin, I will recommend electrum wallet because it is user friendly and has good features. Although it is also connected to internet but it is more secure and reliable since several people have used it and have testified here in the forum.

Electrum can be used offline and as a cold storage too.
You can create your electrum wallet on an offline device (preferably on an airgapped device) and sign your transactions there.

Take note that you need internet connection only when you want to check new transaction you may have received (so that you can make an unsigned transaction) and when you want to broadcast a transaction.

To some extent, trust wallet is in the bad, and I suppose even if someone will have access to your phone, you may create a passcode that would prohibit the person from having access to your trust wallet instead of your wallet being open without a passcode, as you mention. If your devices are safe, so are your assets, because some people are really reckless with their equipment. Because I have actually used trust wallet and have never had a security compromise. The only time I've encountered it was when I lost my seed phrase on it due to my negligence, and I no longer had access to my assets, and from that day forward, I realized the value of keeping your seed phrase safe. if it is bitcoin then electrum also a very good option to consider, I will agree with that since I’ve used both electrum and trust wallet, then for altcoin trust wallet is a good option to go with the great wallet that can be used. The most important thing is for your assets to be safe, because keeping your assets in your wallet is better than keeping it in an exchange, but you know how Lazy we can be and that is a very bad habit keep your assets in an exchange, which is not safe because exchanges can be attacked and so many reasons you should not keep your money their.

Trust wallet doesn't have a high security. It's just like other wallets out there and I don't even like it because it's closed source and the public wouldn't be able to review everything about the wallet. There are also high complaints from Trust wallet users, they complained of how transactions are authorized from their wallet, I don't know how true this allegations are but if the wallet is open source, people would have been able to check properly if there is any red flag.

You should used simple software wallet like Blue wallet, Electrum wallet and Bitcoin wallet. This wallet are open source and you can comfortably use them without any problem and you should know that your security doesn't comes from the wallet as they are connected to the internet, you should be your own security and make sure your wallet is properly back up and keep in a safe place.

What do you call "high security", a wallet is either hot or cold; non-custodial or custodial or open source or closed source; your security now depends mostly on you. That being said, closed source and/or custodial wallets are not the best wallets to use, and trust wallet is a closed source wallet, which of course its code cannot be reviewed by its users. Remember what happened to some of Atomic wallet users, which is a closed source wallet, so to avoid that, try as much as possible to use an open source wallet.

It true that there are no valid reports about funds being lost/stolen from trustwallet due to low security (at least none that I've heard of), but this is not enough to say it "has high security". Just because it didn't happen yet, diesn't mean it won't ever happen.
As long as its code is not open source, you can't be sure about how secure it is.
Since the code wasn't audited by independent third parties, you should use it only if you trust the developers.

I have read in many parts of this forum that Trust Wallet is closed source which means it is not safe as third party can access your wallet. I have also searched if similar thing can be said about Electrum wallet but there is none which mean it is an open source wallet and a good one for you to use since you control the private keys and not third party. The key thing to consider about choice of wallet is if you control the private keys or not and if it is open source or not. Nevertheless, hardware wallet is the best to use since it is not connected to the internet always, hence the security is higher.

It's not that you don't have control over your private keys in trustwallet or they definitely have access to your wallet. Both trustwallet and electrum are non-custodial and give you access to your private keys.
Trustwallat being close source means that we don't know how the keys are generated and whether the keys are stored on their server or not.

Hardware wallet is the best for storing and securing your Bitcoin ,and in terms of security,it gives optimum best security but very expensive to get, therefore as a newbie or you are just starting to save your Bitcoin in a wallet,it is adviceable to use a desktop wallet(electrum) first ,before moving to hardware wallet if you have gotten enough amount of Bitcoin. The Bitcoin you spend on a daily basis should be kept on a desktop while the one for long-term savings should be kept in a hardware . But if you still can't have access to any of these two financially, you should make use of mobile wallet (electrum),it is good for a start, before getting your desktop or hardware.

Do you have a reference to a thread that discusses it in a complex way? I want to know more, I'm sure here I can get deeper insight than just reading in news outlets about crypto.

Thank you, while I'm writing this, some good users already gave me some directions on where to go by providing some links that I could us

Big help from Doan9269 and OcTradism, I'll make a good use of it.

Have read several interesting articles on the internet regarding wallets for storing Bitcoin, they mentioned that there are several types of Bitcoin storage, they're hot & cold wallets. Now I only use Trustwallet to store Bitcoin I have. Am I in the right type of wallet to store my Bitcoin?

Honestly, after reading the article I was confused af, need some good input & insight from experts here.
Trust Wallet is a Non-custodial wallet but it is not a reliable  wallet for big amount of bitcoin. Electrum wallet is a widely used Bitcoin wallet which is known as a trusted and very strong wallet so far. so if you want to hold a large amount of Bitcoins, you can choose Electrum. Because big whale holders use electrum wallet as software wallet. or you can also go for hardware wallets. But whatever wallet you use, always keep your wallet key safe. Because if you don't have private key you can't access your bitcoin wallet. or if someone else gets your private key, they can transfer your bitcoins that cannot be recovered by any way.

I don't know how you know the wallet that bitcoin whales use, or if you know that electrum wallet is an online wallet and is not the best choice for keeping a large amount of your bitcoins. If you want to use electrum to store a large amount of your assets, you have to use electrum offline, and not everyone, particularly newbies, can do that.

There is no need to be confused, you should try and understand them properly and identify what type of wallet you’re using first only then will you be able to figure out if you are using the right wallet to store your bitcoins.

Do you even know what Hot and Cold wallet are? In simple terms Hot wallets are wallets connected to the internet while cold wallets are wallets not connected to internet so basically Trust wallet is a hot wallet. Although the risk of wallets connected to the internet is higher and they are more likely to be compromised than cold wallets so ideally trust wallet is not the best wallet option to store bitcoin. Even among other hot wallets there are complaints about trust wallet security and how they are easily compromised and the fact that it is a multi coin wallet makes it an easy target for scammers. I advise you switch to a different and more secure wallet to store your bitcoin like blue wallet or Electrum Wallet

As a beginner, of course at first you must be confused because there are so many types of wallets, I was also like that at first OP was very confused in choosing the right and good wallet. However, after I understood little by little about all the wallets that exist, the Trust Wallet wallet does have a weakness because the wallet is closed source because we don't know how the Phrase seed is made. So I also switched from the Trust Wallet wallet to the Blue Wallet which is widely recommended by members here.

Actually there is Electrum and I have also tried it, but because I rarely use a laptop, Blue Wallet is my current choice. Because Blue Wallet is easier to access via smartphone than Electrum, this is my personal opinion. However, this depends on each individual which is the most comfortable, what is clear is that OP must switch from the Trust Wallet wallet to the Electrum wallet or Blue wallet so that your assets are safer, especially if you store them for the long term.

You can use Electrum wallet, Blue wallet, such wallets to store bitcoins. But since you are using a trust wallet you are not going wrong. If you can safely keep your wallet seed phrase then you can definitely use trust wallet. I myself have used electrum wallet and trust wallet as well. All are safe but you must keep the wallet keys very safe otherwise any wallet will not be safe for you to hold any investment.

They are good wallets.

And always check the website before you download if it's the official one. Because there are too many fake websites that are copying these good wallets, so kindly verify it first.

But for your reference, this is their official link:

Warning: Do not download Electrum from another source than electrum.org. Verify GPG signatures.

For a large amount of Bitcoin it is better to store in a cold wallet, no doubt about that because it is not connected to any online device, all you need to do is secure your private keys. When it comes to hot wallet for smaller amount of Bitcoin in Satoshi, the best wallet as far as I'm concerned are electrum and bluewallet, I will recommend them to anybody that is looking for hot wallets to choose from. I believe that trustwallet is also good but my preference are the two that I mentioned although the most important thing to note about any wallet of choice is to secure your private keys and seed phrase, hide them in more than one place because they are the only proof of ownership to your coins in the Blockchain.

It is wrong to keep your bitcoin in trust wallet. Trust wallet is a non custodial wallet, but it is a closed source wallet, and in closed source wallets you cannot verify the code and you cannot be sure of what is going on behind the scenes. You could do everything right in keeping your funds safe, but you can still end up losing it just because you use a closed source wallet, like it happened to Atomic wallet users.

One of most important security advises when choosing a Bitcoin wallet is

Open source
With Open source, a wallet can not set up backdoors without detection from Bitcoin community. So with ability to reproduce an open source wallet from source code, back doors can be detected and community will warn to stay away from an open source wallet with back doors.

How do I choose a wallet? (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tN6b62sEpsY)

This short video has explanation that choosing a good wallet to use is individual task and each person will have different taste but if they want security, they will have better wallet to store their bitcoins.

Well when it comes to holding bitcoin for long-term, hardware wallet is actually the best . But you know anything with advantages also have disadvantages, so one of the disadvantages is that is too expensive. But I don't actually vibe trust wallet though is a noncustodial wallet, is still prefer blue wallet and electrum . And it will also help to separate your bitcoin asset from your other assets iif you have any Inthe Trust wallet.

If you're looking for the wallet to store you bitcoin in then consider a wallet that is offline. A wallet that is not easily accessible by online scammers and hackers, consider using a cold wallet for storage.

While software(hot) wallet like trustwallet is good for storage too, I'm afraid bad hackers may still msge to find their way into your account. A hot wallet may allow for frequent use and can be connected to lots of crypto currencies but you are looking for best wallet to store and secure your hard earned Bitcoin so consider a cold wallet.

But before saving away in a cold wallet, keep in mind that it might not be flexible like a hot wallet, so prepare to hodl for long term.

You don't have to complicate things, if you have small amount of money to buy Bitcoin you can use non custodial Bitcoin wallets built for smartphones, like Trust wallet and Electrum, when I said small amount I mean the hundreds of dollars range, but if you have a thousand dollar worth of Bitcoin I advice you should start preparing how to end up buying a Trezor hardware wallet, it wimt cost you an arm or leg.

I remember in 2023, I had like 10k worth of crypto on my trust wallet and I began to worry, my mind won't just leave the stupid idea alone, I knew that 10k in USD is way too much for trust wallet, although some users claimed that they store higher amount of Bitcoin in trust wallet and nothing bad happened, my mind was telling me that do I have to wait till something bad happens? So I purchased a hardware wallet and it doesn't cost more than $120 then, since then I don't get worries anymore.

Hardware wallets are the best, just make sure they are non custodial, but Electrum wallet is a good option for someone who don't have money for HD wallets, it is completely open source, the best free wallet that I can recommend to any beginner by far with zero worries, keeping your recovery seed safe is your responsibility, make sure it doesn't get closeer to online or the internet.

Even with a sum of a thousand dollars or so, it is not necessary to acquire hardware wallets, because giving 10% of the available sum seems to be an irrational use of the budget. Maybe it is better to spend this sum (10% allocated for HW device) on additional investment in the bitcoin?

I remember in 2023, I had like 10k worth of crypto on my trust wallet and I began to worry, my mind won't just leave the stupid idea alone, I knew that 10k in USD is way too much for trust wallet, although some users claimed that they store higher amount of Bitcoin in trust wallet and nothing bad happened, my mind was telling me that do I have to wait till something bad happens? Using a hardware wallet gives you peace of mind for your cryptocurrencies, but in some cases, fake (ledger?).

With an amount of $10k, it is difficult to trust non-custodial wallets.

Electrum has been a good choice for many years now. But electrum + hardware wallet still looks better.

Why is that or did you mean custodial wallets? With $10k in a custodial wallet where I don't control the private keys, I'd have quite some headaches. Can't repeat it often enough: not your keys, not your coins!

With amounts worth near or above $10k, I'd prefer peace of mind and safe storage and that's for me: private keys in cold storage or a decent hardware wallet (I'm not speaking of Ledger crap here).
