hello everyone.
I'm a newbie that has not explore that much in this forum because I don't know much about the forum. I really need everyones advise on how to go about things and become more familiar with the forum.

I joined this forum last month but I have not been active for the past few days now because I was trying to see how I can learn more about Bitcoin and this forum as well in order for me to fit in and make good quality post that will add value to everyone in this forum.

Now that am back, I need help as a beginner and I will really appreciate everyone's support in other for me to know more and become much more better in the forum.

You have said it, you haven’t explore the forum enough since joining so it means there are quite some things and rules you are not yet familiar with so firstly i think reading the sticky threads on each boards will be very useful in knowing more about the forum. Knowing and understanding the do’s and don’t of the forum is the most important thing before learning about bitcoin.

As a beginner you need to be more of a reader, read through every thread that interests you to learn from people’s discussions and ignore any spirit of posting or merit hunt that way it will be a easier to grow after acquiring necessary knowledge.

You are welcome back to the forum. As a newbie, to grow you need to read the replies and links that the other members of the forum will add in their comments.  However, I want to point out if you had scanned through the topics in the board before creating your topic, you would have concluded that there had not been any need to make create a new topic. This is because this type of topic is the most commonly asked topic by newbies on the forum and the responses they get is always the same. The next time you want to create a new post, use the search button to know if the topic you want to ask had already been responded to on the forum.

It is true that he needs to be more of a reader, but I think that there are a few boards where he can write even if he doesn't know much about Bitcoin and/or cryptos. This B&H is a good example, but not the only one: he can also be active in Off-topic, Politics & Society, even in Economics, if he has knowledge on the subject, and some more.

Only reading can be demotivating. Let's let him express himself too.

OP, you've got here a lot of useful links, now it's your turn to read and learn. We can't do that for you, you have to do it yourself and hopefully learn your share of it.

In case you didn't notice, the sticky threads (those which are glued to the top of every thread listing) are there for a purpose. You can't hardly oversee those, can you?

If you're just lazy and prefer to ask for spoon feeding only, do me a favor and admit it, so I can put you on my ignore list. ;)

First thing you have to find chance and remain active her on the forum. The knowledge you will acquire from this forum can only be acquired if you are always active, reading and learning from every quality posts made by other members. To stay active is very simple if you are someone who use a mobile device, just get your data on and use the telegram notification not so you can get notified of every new topics. Well, other members have given you links to some of the important thing you might want to check out to ease your journey here on the forum. Just find time to check them out.

This forum is a place where you can learn a lot about Bitcoin and several other things, reputation, projects, law, crypto trading, exchanges, economics including gambling you can learn here and many others, This forum's main goal for you is to be able to discuss as many of your problems as possible regarding digital currency, in today's era.

Remember, if you are already here, show your friendliness, knowledge and talents, all of this will automatically be appreciated by other members, by giving you awards (merits) so that you can step by step to achieve your next goal.

The reason I said so is because, through your previous posting, I discovered that you have a bit of knowledge, and it seems you are trying your best, but why will you still tag yourself as someone who knows nothing about the forum? Is it for hunting merit or what? 
 
With time, if you can still be patient enough and involved in a higher quantity of research, you will find out that you have achieved a lot, and you will even have the chance to teach others. When you find things hard to understand, you are free to ask, but one month is enough to make adequate research. You are actually ready to learn, so don’t be weak and lazy. Also, avoid signature campaigns because they motivate you to make low-quality posts.

There are alot of posts regarding this topic, advice for newbies on how to go about the forum. If you scroll down the thread you will see similar posts and if you can't find one, you use the search button and search for posts to see if there are topics relating to what you are looking for, if there is none that suits your interest or doesn't contain the information you are looking for, then you can create your own post. But in a situation you found what you are looking for, you won't need to create similar post anymore.

I'm telling you this as a newbie so you don't go about and creating an already existing topics. This is done to reduce the level of spamming.

If you do not know much and are still learning, there are a few ways you can provide value to the Forum.  Find interesting things to learn about Bitcoin and use the Forum Search to check whether it has ever been discussed or not.  Even if it has been discussed, maybe you can make something much more educative or interesting than what the previous Thread starters could.  We are all learning continuously anyway, but it is a hard thing to provide value knowing nothing much about Bitcoin when you are on a Bitcoin Forum where some of us have been lurking around for many years.

See what other Members did to make this Forum a better place.  When you see a highly Merited Thread, check it out carefully and see what you can learn from it so you can get some Merits too.  The work is often worth the final feeling of being praised by the community.

First of all you're welcome to this forum where you will learn a lot about Bitcoin. I suggest you to read topics at Bitcoin discussion board to get more familiar with Bitcoin. Most of the top level topics related to Bitcoin are available at that board.

If you want to know about this forum and you're already familiar with Bitcoin then I suggest you to read topics at Meta board as that's a very important board to learn about things that are directly related to this forum.

And the best board for beginners is always going to be Beginners & Help where you can ask questions about anything you want and you'll get valuable advice in the form of replies in your threads and similarly you can learn a lot as a beginner by reading topics at this board.

You won't make consistent learning in the forum unless you become active again and explore and read new and old threads in the forum. That way, even if you study on your own and DYOR as much as possible, believe me you will learn more that way than asking tips and suggestions from other members here in the forum. Although it's never bad to ask some guides, but if you don't have time to read them, you will never learn also.

I hope you won't come back and create next new topics about the same thing like I want to learn and want to improve.

If you check your past two topics and answers you received with answers you get from this topic, you will see they are the same or nearly the same. If you repeat more topics to ask basic questions, you will receive same answers again.

I don't think you should refer yourself as a newbie because in no time your rank is going to change, depending on how frequent you are in the Forum and how well you drop your post, I mean quality post because that's one of those things you need to make it to the next rank. I'd say you shouldn't let anything to discourage you from coming online to do the needful, to me I feel one of the reasons why you went off since you registered was because you weren't getting what you expected, so if you keep that in front of you I don't see you heading far on the Forum.
And I don't think you need much to know more about Bitcoin trading or investment, depending on whichever one you feel is good, meet the right members, ask questions and you're good to go, as you can see some members have provided you with some links to start with, you're welcome back.

I have seen quite a lot of posts from newbies asking how they should go about things in the forum. Quite alot of them just like OP have been around for a long time without really knowing what they are doing here.

It is time newbies change whatever mindset they have about the forum and learn how to enjoy the forum just like they would do to social media platforms. If they actually enjoy the forum, it would trigger them to want to explore more to satisfy themselves and their curiosity. The obvious truth is, anyone who craves for new knowledge and is passionate about learning about Bitcoin will easily learn and adapt to the forum than those who are here probably because they heard they can actually earn from the forum.

OP, just randomly follow up posts from different boards. The kinds of information you get here should amaze you and trigger you to dig deep for more information. Enjoy the forum and you will get used to how things are done here.

The OP is very likely years away from any sig campaign so it's certainly not something to think about at all. However, this statement of yours is only partially correct, because although there are sig campaigns that encourage quantity over quality, not all of us are sig spammers.

Good to have you back and I hope that you'll be more active this time, there's no dull moment in this forum. As a newbie you need to be observant and read the sticky threads in every board, they're guides on how to proceed in the different boards. SatoPrincess, and other members have generously shared loads of links for you to engage in and build your knowledge about Bitcoin. Don't expect to be spoon-fed by experienced members, you need to read and learn from existing threads, carry out research and also learn from reputable crypto sites. Start a topic only when you want to make quality contributions and ask relevant questions when you don't understand, experienced members will not hesitate to guide you properly. This is how some of us learnt and increased our crypto knowledge in this forum.

You don't have to know much about the forum before you'll explore it. If you already know much about the forum, what then would be the essence of exploring it. It is now you have identified as a complete newbie that you have the opportunity to explore the forum.

You don't necessarily need everyone's advice to succeed here. Not everyone will be interested in helping you, just pick a few advice and go your way. Infact, when advice becomes much, you will be more confused on which to absorb and the one to expunge.

Now that you are back, you can go through all the replies been given to you by the senior colleagues in this forum, make sure you make use of all the useful links provided in the comments so that you can learn efficiently as you said you wanted to.

Being active in this forum will help you well to grow and to gain knowledge, but going off for a while will not help you because when you are active, you will be able to interact with other forum users in which you will learn in that process.

Additionally, avoid copy and paste which is called Plagiarism; it’s strongly prohibited in this forum with a penalty of ban.

Being active does not mean that you have to keep posting as well, no that should not be your focus because you are still in the process of learning acquisition. Explore the forum first and read as much as you can, and always follow those links that were given above as they can be a lot helpful to you as long as you also do your reading with those links, otherwise you will still see yourself struggling on what to first learn in the forum since the forum itself has recorded vast of topics that you will surely go confused in which to read first. Patience is the key so that you will see yourself growing in the forum.

Welcome to forum. I am glad you want to learn and participate. Don't worry if you are new we all began somewhere. You are doing great by asking for help and wanting to learn. Take your time to look around forum read important threads and ask questions when you are unsure. We are community that helps each other. Don't worry about making perfect posts just focus on learning sharing your ideas and talking with others. And learn from others and see how they all are making the posts. You will get an Idea and can make good posts but you need to learn first.

You are welcome back to the forum, I guess the required link that you need with reliable information for newbie has been provided by some members above. You should do yourself more good to explore through those link to learn how to go about the forum. One of the major offences is plagiarism or using AI generated post. Most newbies are always in fund of that, they always look for a fast way of growing in the forum and it usually land them to plagiarism. So all I have to say is that it will take you some time to understand how the forum works, but avoid copy and paste content and try to be creative and always make sure you read and understand before joining conversation otherwise you will go off key and you may be tage as spammer. You must try to bring the very best in you to contribute meaningfully and you will grow as fast as possible everyone here was once a newbie and you are not different from them. Welcome mate.

No disrespect but as i look on you're topic or reply it seems that you already know about bitcoin, if you want to add knowledge about bitcoin, its better to go to a section where they talk about what topic you really like, since there are lot of sections in the forum, to be better in the forum you just need to be active, you only need to reply to topics and should always reply connected to the conversation, also its not about how many reply or post but how helpful it is to others that's what matters.

welcome op to the bitcointalk forum and in this forum of course you can learn a lot or share experiences by discussing as well as possible and in this forum of course you have to comply with the applicable rules and of course there are many friends here who will answer you questions and of course you must comply with the rules and regulations of this forum.

but of course in this forum you are free to ask questions and share experiences, but it would be better if you always use a search engine before you want to create a topic because that way you will know whether someone has already created a topic like that or not, so for sure if someone has create a topic like what you want to ask or discuss, of course you will definitely be able to see the answers and discussion regarding that matter. However, I only have a little advice, namely that in this forum you have to enjoy it and if there is harsh criticism, of course don't take it to heart. and try to be peaceful and have good discussions because good discussions will definitely produce something useful.

and if you want to learn about bitcoin, of course this is the place and what is certain is that here are lots of people who are experts in the field of bitcoin and of course for me personally this forum is a forum that provides many useful things and extensive information and good insight.

You don’t need to always post in the forum in order to fill carried along amongst other members in the forum but yet again if you don’t post, like replying to comments and joining discussions in the forum, you can’t be analysed to be a good poster or not. Your contribution to the forum through the little you’ve learnt is important to be on a studying mode level in the forum, you won’t feel left out and not carried along.


You’ll receive a lot of advise and be sent many links to go through in order to know better about the forum. By just reading and not applying them will only make you not to become a master of what you’ve learnt but will just be there and not grow like other members of the forum. Beginners should always learn and apply what they learn so that when they make mistakes, they can easily be corrected rather than just learning and not doing anything.

You’re right. If your goal is to achieve efficient and effective learning, keep yourself active on the forum even though you don’t need to devote 24 hours to the forum. As long as you visit the forum everyday, rest assured you will gain continuous and sufficient learning. Also, being patient while in the process of learning and understanding the whole concept of bitcoin is a must. That will also prepare you to the whole crypto market that is very uncertain and unpredictable so you need to be patient at all times.

You have given a lot of good advice, I would like to add some more.
Moreover, posting long posts, running after merit, posting the same thing again and again, and making pointless long comments should also be avoided.
I have seen new members post on the forum too many times which has already been done many times and it is repeated, so one should not repeat the same postings that are already there or who have already done so. It makes no sense.

One more thing I would like to add here for the OP is that when you post or comment, whatever reply your seniors give you, never take it as sarcasm or negativity, people here are very helpful. And if they say something to you, take it as a correction from them.

We have been in this forum for a long time and when we were new here we also learned a lot from our seniors. Flattering always keeps you two steps back from success, so it's better to have people who clearly tell us our flaws rather than those who give us some momentary happiness with fake compliments.

OP if you can genuinely go through the recommended threads from members reply on this thread, read them, know them and understand them, you wont have issue with the forum, also take note of the rule that go against plagiarism and don't proof being too smart to manipulate your way out in disguise, if you do things the normal way they are being expected, you will enjoy the forum properly.

Welcome back Sky_T, I am glad you are back to be active fully in the forum, I hope you will not change your mind to go off for some months again? If you go off, you have start from beginning again unless if you keep reading some important threads and links provided to you in the comments especially the first reply because it contains almost all you will need as a beginner to rank up, learn and get adequate knowledge about Bitcoin and to also know and understand the forum better.

Welcome to the BitcoinTalk forum. You are a new user so first you need to read the rules of this forum. I think bitcointalk forum is a wealth of knowledge you will get the best idea about bitcoin from this forum so you should study regularly. You spend time on this forum and try to read regularly. Remember, the more you read, the more knowledge you gain.

Your concluding statement got my attention real well, on the need to read and search the forum to see if what the ops asked have been answered before creating thread such as this, but but the thing with most newbies is that, it is they believe that by creating topics they are gaining popularity a d possibility to gain merits, and and they won't want their name not to appear at the ops top, but so no matter how you advice them on the need to search before asking, if you they practically ignore such advice.

But that is by the way, and thank goodness that the comments on this thread so far have given ops the resources needed to grow herein the forum, without any issue and what is left for him now is to read through them all and get whatever he want about the forum.

Newbies will always get the opposite reaction from members when they asks generic questions or questions that can be answered by the sticky threads. As a newbie, you do not want be popular for doing the wrong things. Newbies that understand that creating new topics everyday is not what makes you a reputable member will quickly grow into the forum and find themselves a niche in the community where they are known.
