Title: My account was hacked and has been spamming.
Post by: Monzsta on July 29, 2024, 08:10:10 PM
I haven't used it for years but got notifications for password change.

I have control of the account now but I can't see where to delete it.

Please delete this account.  It's a risk and I'm not using it.

Thank you.

You really sound very contradictory because your topic "My account was hacked and has been spamming" is supposed to mean that you lost custody of the account before now but since you said you got a notification about a change of password means it was a recent attempt to hack your account as you so claimed and moreover your account stopped making posts since 2022 and has already received 4 negative tags hence your reasons for abandoning the account but I feel you maybe just wanted to log in the account to know if those tags has "miraculously" left your account but when you discovered that the tags were still there you now want the account to be banned or deleted as you put it to avoid future logging in (maybe accidentally) by you so this thread is needless anyways.

Perhaps, if you are sure that your account was hacked but now you have recovered it because the password was recently changed by you so it's obvious the account is still very much in your custody because only you knows the last password you changed it to so why panicking?

You can not. There is no such option.

Please delete this account.  It's a risk and I'm not using it.

I doubt that the admins will delete your account, unless you provide some convincing argument. This is not it.

as Stalker22 have mentioned, there is no option to delete your account. that being said, if I remember correctly you can get your account locked if you try to change your password using the "secret question" feature when changing the password.

You want admin to delete your account because you think it can be hacked again? Know that your account can not be deleted. But if you do not want to visit this forum again and you do not want to have access to your account anymore, just forget about the account and do not have any of the account detailswith you any longer. You can also discard the email. You can create a new email for it and also use the password that you will not remember. If you do not know the email password and the password of your account on this forum, you will not be able to access this forum any longer. But I do not think anyone should be so bother to the extent he will think to delete his forum account.

There is a simple way to end the account activities here in the forum, although this is not a feature but a way I figured out way to personally destroy an account and that is?

Go to your account settings and set of security question on the account, and try to us the security question features to recover the account, since according to forum settings, using security features get an account locked, until Proven real ownership before unlocking the account is near impossible, you can peacefully end the activities of this account with that.

Hey this is just my own personal advice take it or leave it.

It appears from Bpip (https://bpip.org/Profile?id=187877) that this is the only time you have changed your account password, and it hasn’t been changed before. Also, your account posts indicate that the account did not post any spam during your absence from the forum, and the old posts contain your Telegram ID. Therefore, I strongly believe that you were not hacked as claimed. There is no risk if you don’t use it, as there is no feature on the forum to delete your account. As previous members advised you, you can forget about it.

I hope that if you have stopped using this account, you do not sell it to someone else, as your red tags indicate that you are involved in selling forum accounts.

Firstly, this post is not meant to be on the beginner section..
Secondly you feel your account was compromised because you saw the notification about your password beign changed if I'm  right, don't really believe your story actually but if you feel your account is beign compromised then check the recent Logged IPs to see if there's an unrecognised activity( max is 30 days I think).
You can't delete your account just as others replied  but you can  delete posts (with topics as exception) or you can just change your email address address and set up extra level of security for your account.

What I see here he is trying to fool other people and DTs on the forum so that he can tell us that he was hacked and he didn't sell a Bitcointalk account on the past.
Even you are trying to fool us it's impossible to fool DTs if that is what you are planning to do.
Why not forget about this account instead of requesting for account deletion.

His story is actually believable because what he is saying and the data that Bpip provides are not saying the same thing because the password was never changed until recently, so when was the password change request made that sent the email notification he received?

If the story was said to be about someone who might be close to him using the account to do scam posts, it could have been somehow believable because the person would not need to change the password, but from the look of things, I can say that the account never changed hands in the first place.

You can not delete the account.
It's not possible. Just abandon it.

Forum account: security, privacy, and recovery (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5261696.0)

If you want to abandon this account, change your current password to a very unique, long, random and strong password that can not be brute forced.
Change your current email address to an email address like this.
Activate your secret question because it will lock your account.

PSA: ACCOUNTS WILL BE LOCKED IF THE SECRET QUESTION IS USED TO RECOVER IT (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1206977.0)

Your account will still exist but it will not be hacked in future.

As per checking in bpip.org your account has a history of resetting password.

https://talkimg.com/images/2024/07/30/5aPuq.png

Even in your post history there is no deleted post.

If you did not commit these changes you can check your IP address. If there is some suspicious activity or else try to reset your password and add a 2FA feature, but your account already had 4 red tags doesn't seem worthy to give time at all.

Good lord.  Yes, I'm trying to fool you by getting you to delete my derelict account. Are you really that dense?

I'll either start trolling until the account gets blocked or deleted or I'll sabotage it as suggested above but one way or the other it'll be finished.

You can ask forum admins to help you, to delete your account or any request, but if you're trying to fool forum admins and more than that, forum community, damn it looks bad.

You can lock your account by yourself or beg forum admins to lock it for you.

By fooling attempt as you admitted, chance to be approved by forum admins is nearly zero. Because it's special support for you, by forum rules, accounts are no longer be able to delete.

<...>

Admins: can do everything imaginable on the site. They however can't delete their accounts.

What's the problem, OP? If you fear your account could be compromised, set a looong random password and activate 2FA. If you really never want to touch your account again, you can ditch the password and the 2FA secret. Other procedures have been suggested to you, too.

Unless the forum gets hacked again, nobody should be able to take over your account (which I don't believe happened as you try to pretend, but I could be wrong, it's just not very likely as indicated by your account's past activities).

Messing around in the forum might only get you banned and won't delete your account, period! Makes no sense...

What is that going to benefit you, even if you plagiarize and get banned, it does not mean your account has been deleted. If i were you, i'd set a random strong password and i would not back it up, then forget about the account for good, it is much better than wasting your time trolling here. You can also announce your exit from the forum, and tell users to leave a neutral feedback that if the account ever becomes active again, then it has been compromised.

When you noticed the sudden change of password I think you shouldn't have stayed calm if the account is important to you since you haven't been using it for years, like where on earth did you abandon you account to, knowing quite well that the account that haven't been active for a long time has been on the look out by scammers/hackers, huh🤔? I think you should show more concern when it comes to something that you value the more.

If you're in control of the account why do you want to terminate it after crying to get it back and now you have, why do you want it to be deleted? Or is there something you not telling us as a reason for wanting to delete the account? This isn't right from what you saying.

You know what?  Shame on all of you higher-ranked members for repeating the same fucking thing.  I've certainly been guilty of not reading replies before making my own, but this is ridiculous.  Hey OP, did you get the message that your account can't be deleted?

I have control of the account now but I can't see where to delete it.

DT members don't have anything special that allows them to avoid being fooled, especially not these days when I don't even recognize most of the usernames on the list.  But no, I don't think he's convincing anyone of the scenario he presented, which has more holes than a dollar store COVID mask.  What he ought to do is lock up this thread and remain silent forevermore.

Did you actually read all the answers that were given to the OP? And also what the OP answered?

I think he was being extremely sarcastic with that post, but if you're right about him evading a ban....too bad, so sad, bye bye.
