Title: How do you get Bitcoin? (Poll)
Post by: BitcoinBarrel on August 11, 2024, 06:28:49 AM
I'm interested in how most forum members receive their Bitcoins. We have got most of ours over the years with faucets, earning sites and also payments for various gigs.

What about you?

The two possible ways to likely HODL bitcoin currently, is either you buy it or you earn it. As for the buying, it's quite simple since all you need to do is just swap some fiat for an equivalent amount of bitcoin. On the other hand some people render services like freelancing and other gig like you mentioned and depending on their agreement with the client , some get paid in crypto currency which includes bitcoin.

The only one I really don't think it would be easy to HODL is selling goods for bitcoin. This is because the seller is would likely have to restock sooner and that won't be long term holding except the profit of course is nice enough to HODL.

Your profile says you recently woke up. Well welcome back to the forum

Don't forget to keep your keys safe

I think when it comes to this forum, the major way through 70% of people here get there Bitcoin is by earning (i.e through Signature campaign), while 20% people here get there Bitcoin here by gambling and the remaining 10% get there's through Bitcoin Mining. So those are the major ways through which people on this forum get there. However, when it comes to people off this forum, I think majority get there through buying from a p2p marketplace.

This is not quite true. Here we can add another way to get bitcoin - to receive it as an inheritance. Bitcoin has already existed for more than fifteen years and at the time of the emergence of this cryptocurrency, people who were carried away by this technology were quite mature (techies) and by now, many already have quite mature children ready to start getting acquainted with this type of assets.

Also, the reason for the emergence of bitcoin inheritances can be illnesses and early death of bitcoiners (many early users left the forum). Remember Hal (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=2436) Finney and o_e_l_e_o (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=1188543).

For natural reasons, the number of people who receive bitcoin in this way will increase over time.

We can also consider illegal ways of obtaining bitcoin, such as theft, robbery, fraud, etc. So it turns out that there are slightly more than two ways to get bitcoin that you are talking about.

That's a good assessment I think. At least for nowadays. In the beginning it was probably skewed more towards mining.

Anyone else have any unique ways they've received Crypto that's not mentioned? A gift perhaps or something else?

On the majorly through the campaign signature and gambling. Occasionally I get few gigs where they client is willing to pay in Bitcoin. I never knew the faucet era until I signed up on the forum. I didn't even meet the earning sites era. I don't know how this may sound but I earn Bitcoin from Bitcoin. What I mean is by holding Bitcoin when the price increases I earn Bitcoin from holding Bitcoin as a result of it.

I first got into Bitcoin through those free faucets and earning sites too.  They let you get your feet wet without having to risk much money.  I made some extra scratch with freelancing and online odd jobs as well.  But if I'm being real, most of my Bitcoin has come from trading and investments.  Yeah it's riskier, but the potential profits make it worthwhile and

there's also people whove gotten lucky and had Bitcoin gifted to them by family or friends.  That's always a nice surprise! I've even given some Bitcoin as gifts myself to buddies who wanted to learn about it.  It's a cool way to get them set up with their first fraction of a coin.

When I first learned about Bitcoin, I wasn't aware of this forum. Someone introduced me to it in early 2021, and I bought about $100 worth of BTC. Although it was a small amount, BTC had a significant price drop that year, which almost made me lose hope in investing more on it. However, I trusted what I had read about its past market trends and held on longer.

After some research, I discovered this forum on YouTube and was surprised to learn that the real founders of BTC created BitcoinTalk. I decided to register and was even more surprised to find that membership was free. I've been a member for a year now, and BitcoinTalk has become my main source of earning BTC. I hold onto my signature campaign rewards and buy the bears when I have extra cash.

I, myself personally earn most of my Bitcoin from signature campaign and I earn money from real job to buy Bitcoin, that's.

Knowing there's a way to earn Bitcoin for free which is signature campaign, is really a blessing for me because it improve my financial and at the same time I learn about Bitcoin. So, I got two things from this forum, while I learn about Bitcoin, I get paid for it, there's no better than that.

Anyone else have any unique ways they've received Crypto that's not mentioned? A gift perhaps or something else?
There are other ways, some people get Bitcoin from scamming, lending and trade P2P with higher rates.

Currently with the way Bitcoin is being cherished and increase in price lot of people earn Bitcoin through buying, trading or even involving  themselves in some signature campaigns that happens to pay in BTC so those who wish to hodl would hodl and those who wish to convert to usdt can do that or even sell to their local fiat. Nowadays lot of project I mean campaign or bounty's does not really pay in Bitcoin as it was back then 2016 and 2017 or even 2019, currently apart from signature campaign most of the projects pays in their native tokens and it could be hard to hold or wait till when listed on exchange to sell and hold back bitcoin. So mostly DCA at times when the market seems not too favorable.

Get my Bitcoin from Signature campaign earnings, my business profit converted to Bitcoin via P2P and gambling.

But my main source of Bitcoin is from my early investment that I keep holding long term in my hardware wallet. I just occasionally trade it when the price near peak then accumulate slowly through DCA every 10K price dump.

So far this makes me profitable in Bitcoin long term.

Usually I buy them since if we really only on the income we can get from any gigs we do online then I think acquiring lots of volume will became so slow.

Those what we gain online is just a bonus and I think I can use for other risky things which can possibly gain more bitcoin. I sometimes trade but didn't get much of this that's why majority of comes from buying then hodl it for long time.

Its interesting to read people post regarding on where they get their bitcoins since we can see multiple ways on how to earn it.

This is a good question because it will further open the consciousness of some people so that they can do more to get more Bitcoin. But I have to fault this poll as well, it should have the opportunity of voting for more than one option. For instance, if I am allowed to vote for more than one option, I will definitely choose at least 3 of those options. But still, the majority of my Bitcoins were bought, that was in 2022, so I am still a baby in Bitcoin investment. But certainly not a baby in its earnings because I've been trading it and using it for sending and receiving money before I decide to invest in 2022.

I have been on this forum for many years and have received bitcoin payments from various campaigns on this forum.  And at the same time work with some clients outside the forum who pay me with Bitcoin.  In this way, I get money through Bitcoin in exchange for work from different places.   But I was interested in doing bitcoin mining but I didn't have a powerful computer with which I can mine bitcoins.  And currently I don't mine even though I have a powerful computer because the mining rate is very low now

Accepting Bitcoin as payment in a business can be another means of earning Bitcoin. People who have the intention to hold will keep payments in Bitcoin while they use fiat to support their business. That is, these businesses have budgeted funds that have been set aside to restock their businesses with sold goods while they hold every payment that comes in the form of Bitcoin.

There was a thread by a member where he gave his wife Bitcoin as a gift (Bitcoin gift to wife (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5470647.msg63008108#msg63008108)). So people can own Bitcoin through gifts from family and friends or even as an inheritance.

The unique way I have earned Bitcoin in the past was by participating in an online quiz show called Captain Bitcoin. You earned the Captain Bitcoin tokens by watching videos and giving the correct answers to the videos watched. At the end of the week, there are raffle draws for all participants, to be rewarded in Bitcoin. If you are lucky enough you can win for yourself $10 worth of Bitcoin. That was how I first won for myself Bitcoin before the ATH in 2021 when Bitcoin was around $10k. Although I sold my first Bitcoin as of then because it was a free offer given, out of less knowledge of Bitcoin to soar in the future if you can hodl for long, I sold mine for a small money(sobs).

Buying's a great start, sure, but its just the first step. Trust me; there are a lot of chances right now. The actual power move is earning Bitcoin straight-forwardly. You are building your portfolio while gaining practical knowledge. Its like hitting two birds with one stone, folks. You also belong to the gig economy, the future, the whole dispersed movement. Real development is occurring in that area.

Signature campaigns are really interesting. You may interact with the community, pick a lot of knowledge, and get rewarded in Bitcoin. I would term that a win-win-win.

the first I ever had was certainly doing a gig online and was paid in BTC. After when, it took a long span of time before I eventually bought some fraction that's eve  less than $50. it wasn't even for the sake of HODling it at the time but just needed to send it accross to someone who wasn't near by and had to figure out how to go about it. I guess that's my first time of actually using Bitcoin to solve my needs. With signature campaign as a majir source of getting BTC from my end, I've had to buy only occasionally when the need arise but for the most part of it, my most surest source of BTC stack have been those I got from doing one or two gig.

Yes faucets still exist, and while the claims appear small... they add up. Plus there are ways to maximize your earnings as well as lotteries, bonuses, referral commissions, etc.

The very first faucet gave away a 5 BTC  :o

This seems interesting. So during the initial days when Bitcoins were cheap, I used to buy them from exchanges to gamble in casinos. Later on, I started accepting payments through Bitcoins for some of my freelance work. I hold majority of the coins, and when the price increased, my total holdings also increased. So yes the majority of the Bitcoins that I currently hold are from clients making me payments in Bitcoins. I also have traded some of the other alts with Bitcoins and made good profits from it.

Unless you’re giving a service on the forum, signature campaigns, gambling and contests are the only way to earn bitcoin on the forum. So far I have not had any luck with any of the contests organized on bitcointalk. Hoping to change that soon.

I don't know how this may sound but I earn Bitcoin from Bitcoin. What I mean is by holding Bitcoin when the price increases I earn Bitcoin from holding Bitcoin as a result of it.
You are not really earning bitcoin by hodling for long term Unless you’re selling at a high and buying more bitcoins when the market dips. The value of your bitcoin hodlings may increase in USD but 1 bitcoin is 1 bitcoin, if that makes sense.

I have tried getting bitcoin through services on the forum like the campaigns, gambling (before), faucet and buying. I haven't forgotten when I received uni from uniswap before and sold it so I can have eth to bitcoin. When I joined the forum, I didn't even earn bitcoin because before I am only joining icos that many of it are scams or a failed icos until I stop joining icos and learn more. I clearly remember when I receive bitcoin (tip) when I am gambling when I helped someone.

Perhaps you are among the early users of Bitcoin who benefitted from faucets and the others. I doubt there are free Bitcoin now again so all Bitcoin have to be earned from work done or bought... this is how I get my Bitcoin.  The service section of this forum have companies running their promotions here and they pay in Bitcoin. Apart from this, majority of my Bitcoin were bought from CEX and  transferred to my private wallet.

The two possible ways to likely HODL bitcoin currently, is either you buy it or you earn it. ...

For new people yes, there have been other ways too that worked out well in the past.  Of course "mining" is also earning via proof of work.

As for the faucets, no I wasn't able to join as this kind of methods to earn could only been on some old members as I remember that there were faucets in the early years that gives 5 BTC by Gavin Andresen.

I personally get bitcoins by buying them, because I only got to know bitcoins a few years ago, so I don't really understand about faucets or anything related to getting bitcoins (not through purchasing). Maybe when I found out about the existence of bitcoin, at that time (2022) it seemed like bitcoin could no longer be obtained through faucets. So the only way to get it is to buy it directly. However, after I entered this forum, and tried to discuss positive things related to bitcoin or other things in this forum, I was able to move up in rank and was able to take part in the signature campaign. From here I can also get bitcoin every week until now. So in addition to continuing to do DCA using the cash I have, I also earn weekly income from signature campaigns. Maybe people who can get bitcoins through faucets can be said to be very lucky people. Because they can own bitcoin with only a cellphone or computer and an internet network. But even so, I am still proud of my current achievements. Because basically people who know and invest in bitcoin are extraordinary people, in essence I am proud to be part of the bitcoin investors.

Many people find their bitcoin holding address by using many tricks, many people buy bitcoins with money and some people accumulate their money by freelancing. And he should have a plan to sustain this money or bitcoins for a long time.
Holding is usually maximum in Bitcoin which is a unique case but the possibility of loss is high, but in Bitcoin it is possible to have some guarantee of maximum leverage and benefit.

It started with faucets, then i tried to mine bitcoin, but thought that i was not getting enough, even though compared to current prices it would be considered plenty.
So i moved to mining altcoins and tried to convert them to bitcoin, as btc is was the main pair for every altcoin, and sometimes that was worth it. Most of the time not.

If i had just kept my wins in btc and not tried to trade it, i would have done way better then with any trading and be a millionaire now, i don't want even to do the math on how much was it. But that's how it goes, no need to dwell in the past.

Later on i found the possibility to do bounties, and some of legit ones paid in btc.

I'm already confused by all the ways I get Bitcoins to my wallet. It all started with a bounty, here on the forum. We shared links on Facebook, Twitter. We saved up stakes and then they exchanged them for campaign tokens. I remember that the campaign signature was not always for Bitcoins, more often for tokens, which we immediately sold for Bitcoin. I also received Bitcoins for participating in contests and giveaways. And now this is mainly the signature campaigns.

When I first entered the cryptocurrencies landscape back in 2017, I used to buy Bitcoin from exchanges such as Binance and Kucoin. for few months I also joined a cloud mining firm who paying me Bitcoin as reward of my contract, however soon I realized that their rewards are minimal, so I stopped buying cloud mining contract after that.

For the last several years I have been participating in Bountry campaign on Bitcointalk form where bounty manager usually make payment in Bitcoin.

Buying Bitcoin and holding is what I'm doing, I'm using the DCA strategy and I'm very much comfortable with it, I will be consistent and then keeping holding for a very long time in other to be able to accumulate enough Bitcoin, if I don't hold for a very long time I can't accumulate enough using the DCA strategy.

I got most of my bitcoins (through earnings) by working on signature campaigns on this forum. Also I took some extra money from family and invested it by buying p2p bitcoins. But I haven't been able to invest bitcoins with any money I made from gambling until now. Because the amount of money I have taken in the gambling section has been spent by losing and cashing out so I have not been able to buy bitcoins from the gambling platform so far which is why I will never reveal it.

The first Bitcoin I acquired was between 2014 and 2015, through faucets; I managed to earn a decent amount in terms of Bitcoin. Nowadays, most of my Bitcoin is derived from signature campaigns, gambling, and some I have left since 2015 from the faucets I mentioned earlier. I'm not actively purchasing Bitcoin, even though I could have set up a budgeting plan, but I preferred not to mess with my monthly salary since I'm already earning some through signature campaigns.

I believe most forum members have similar stories and are dependent on campaigns and gambling.

There is no more easy way to have bitcoin except buying them, earn them for some task, or even get paid through bitcoin. perhaps I have eared bitcoin through signature campaign, I have also bought bitcoin and I have also got paid through bitcoin for a freelancing job... although not all are left in bitcoin just some because I usually exchange some for cash to facilitate my daily life while the once I hold till date are most from my school monthly/weekly allowance because it took me alot to get them so I don't sell till I see a good price in bitcoin.

Apart from this few mentioned above it's literally had to see people who have bitcoin through any other means outside the above mentioned and I think people who where early in bitcoin are more favour to have earn BTC through some simple tasks.

Around 2019, when I started my crypto journey, the first bitcoin I had was bought from an exchange. Fast forward to 2022, when I started on this forum, and then I started earning free bitcoin from the signature campaign in which I participated. Later that year, I also started to accept Bitcoin payments in my furniture shop.

So, the bitcoin I am holding in my custody has come from three different sources: first, it was bought; second, it was earned through signatures; and third, it came from payments I receive from customers. It is not so easy to earn free bitcoin this time around, unlike in the past, when it was very easy to earn a lot of bitcoin from a faucet and just participate in a small task on the internet.

From my total holdings, a major percentage was bought from my monthly salary.

I was also once surprised that there are faucets; moreover, they pay. But yes, they still exist.

https://www.bestchange.ru/index.php?nt=bonus :)

Another question is that some want a few cents for regularly entering Captcha. I guess I'm too picky, and many want to get at least a little from Bitcoin, but doing faucets in our time is simply wasting not only time but also eyesight if you listen to the advice of doctors about the harm of sitting in front of monitors for a long time. Now it is not a problem to buy bitcoin than to do faucets. Is it so hard to deprive yourself of 3–5 bucks a week (although I think you won't even get that amount) than to regularly poke the captcha? However, if you check the recent boom in tapping phones, then for some this is no longer a problem.

I don't understand why earning and employment are different options, as if you're employed, you get coins by earning them.  Still, interesting to see buyers and earners at the same level in terms of votes so far. I thought buying would be a clear winner, but that's not the case.
Some are also not actively obtaining BTC but holding from a long time ago, when they earned/bought/mined/won/used faucets.

Yeah, most likely in the beginning, majority might have earn their first BTC thru signature campaigns. And then they ventured into trading and gambling and evolved into buying then becoming a HODLer.
I think in the early times signature campaigns were still less or not well known and I think faucet sites were more popular than them. It can be because we were receiving a generous amount of coins, as their value was still low. It is like it was giving us an illusion.

Another good thing about the faucet before, is that payments on them are made straight to our desired crypto wallets. It was only sad that things have changed through the years and many faucet sites have now closed down. Signature campaigns on the other hand, are now the ones which are booming. I guess this is because cryptos are now popular, so a lot of start-up projects in this field are also opening up and they see a potential in signature campaigns to promote their brands.

There are many ways to get bitcoins without buying from exchanges. I usually participate in different bounty campaigns from where i get USDT, Altcoins (Tokens) and sometimes bitcoin. Faucets just waste your time the amount you get from faucets is very little. Nowadays mostly people buy bitcoins, only few people earning or paid in bitcoins in this forum.

I'm interested in how most forum members receive their Bitcoins. We have got most of ours over the years with faucets, earning sites and also payments for various gigs.

What about you?

My first ever bitcoin was a gift from a friend who was really eager to see me grow in the world of crypto. Maybe "gift" option should have been added to the poll because people can actually give and receive bitcoins as gifts. I bought my next bitcoins through an exchange after I became convinced that I was in the right place. The bitcoins bought then appreciated, leaving me with something really reasonable. Aside receiving bitcoin as a gift and buying some too, I also earn bitcoins from working for some freelancing companies who pay in bitcoins. This is how I receive bitcoins, I believe many other people receive bitcoins this way too.

There are so many ways people on the forum here do get their bitcoin and one of it is through payments from signature campaigns and bounty, some times you could participate in a contest here on the forum and you get rewarded in bitcoin and some persons can gift you bitcoin, while you can further earn bitcoin doing other jobs outside the forum.

I got my bitcoin through investment. And I think my first purchase was the first of January 2023. And I was like wow! "I have finally gotten bitcoin" and since then I have been investing on bitcoin and accumulating more. But we all know that many forum users only rely on signature campaigns.

Most have said they have bought with a very very small percentage being the miners which doesn’t surprise me. I really like these new auction style sites that let you bid for Bitcoin but one thing that isn’t displayed on here I didn’t think was P2P item for bitcoin exchange or vice versa

Employment would be an actual job at a Company that pays you salary in Crypto.

Earning is more like Faucets, Pay-to-click, Gigs, signature campaigns, trading, micro-earning type sites, etc.

There is one currently an ungoing platform through which I earn my Bitcoin, thou I have not yet withdraw my Bitcoin go my wallet because I have not reached withdrawal amount. I found the site to be a unique and legit cause ones you perform any task given to you, your coin will reflect immediately.
There is also a chance for daily facuet roll where you can earn a little proportion of Bitcoin.
The platform is called cointiply. I have earned Bitcoin in the past participating in most of the task like testing new apps, online survey and watching of videos.
There is chance for you to win $700k by participating in the referral contest every month.

Since you have created this pool in the Bitcoin forum where most people wear their signatures and write to get paid (including myself), At least 50% of them will vote to Earn them. A good percentage of members probably work on crypto projects, and they get paid in Bitcoin as well. However, most people on this forum earn them via signature campaigns.

If you create the same pool on other platforms like Twitter or others, I guess most people will vote to Buy them. So, the result will vary from platform to platform. If you ask the same question on the Casino Discord server, You will see people voting for Gamble.

Outside the forum there were a lot of different giveaways and activities, many made multi-accounts, but it feels like the time for such earnings is running out.
Also, many had roles in the discord and received additional tokens, while it was hard to guess which project would give out generous rewards and which would give out small change. In general, you are right, but personally I am one of those who want to earn money inside the forum. I am tired of constantly searching for successful projects.

I think in the early times signature campaigns were still less or not well known and I think faucet sites were more popular than them. It can be because we were receiving a generous amount of coins, as their value was still low. It is like it was giving us an illusion.

The first bitcoin I received was also through a faucet, it can be said that this was the easiest way to earn bitcoin in the early years when bitcoin was not popular, and is the only way I know to get it without investing the money.

Another good thing about the faucet before, is that payments on them are made straight to our desired crypto wallets. It was only sad that things have changed through the years and many faucet sites have now closed down. Signature campaigns on the other hand, are now the ones which are booming. At each stage of development we need different strategies, you cannot ask the faucet to continue to exist while the price of bitcoin has increased millions of times and is worth more than $60k. If it were you, would you be willing to use your bitcoins to distribute them to everyone for free? So the faucet's disappearance is understandable.

Bitcoin has become very valuable and those who want to own it today need money, which will further increase the value of bitcoin. If it is still given away for free, I believe bitcoin will not be able to achieve high value.

We have got most of ours over the years with faucets,
Really? Do they even exist anymore? How much satoshis are we talking about here? I'm curious because from the day I started (back in 2014) and price was like $400, when I tried faucets the only conclusion was that they are a waste of time. All I've made is something like 50k satoshis at best.

I have made a grand total of $6 from faucets. Or about a few thousand sats. It's definitely not worth it when you think about the math behind it.

You've got so many people trying to earn free scraps so the faucet will eventually be drained - they are not profitable by design.

Don't forget to keep your keys safe
from the many experiences of friends in this forum, from small and easiest things like participating in airdrops and very complicated things like gambling or signature, bounty social which require consistency of time to get maximum results, but now it is different from the previous year from the beginning of 2017 It's very easy to get results on this forum, like an airdrop, just write join airdrop and the first one will get the prize even though we can't necessarily sell it..and on the other hand, now there are so many players and changes in the rules that I personally haven't been able to prevent their existence, what's new in the crypto world..

Most of the bitcoins I have in my wallet so far are earned by me and the rest I earned variously. I put most of the weekly payments I get from signature campaigns directly into Bitcoin. Since mining bitcoins is completely illegal in my country, mining can be excluded in my case but earning is not illegal, so I have earned most of the bitcoins. Besides signature campaign I earned bitcoins by trading occasionally.

For me there are three things: buying, mining and earning. Of course you can also do this with gambling, there are many possibilities, especially here in the fourm many providers are shown. I sold a few bitman devices many years ago and that was very profitable. So in 2017/2018 you could make good money with bitman batches in europe. So i will definitely buy bitcoins again in the future, i havent done that for a while now. So buying is not wrong in my opinion and never will be.

It's obvious that most of people who is here did not use their personal money to purchase bitcoin rather they obtained their first bitcoin through a signature campaign in the service board of bitcointalk, and some other people may likely obtain their first time bitcoin through investment, but I know that during the time bitcoin was first established their was an airdrop in which someone can also obtain bitcoin and I don't that time people have known bitcoin as they know bitcoin today, but in summary the most ways people received bitcoin is through promoting a particular signature brand here.

Honestly, the first crypto I got is ethereum and it is also the first crypto I bought using my own money although it's not much amount of eth since I bought it just to use it for transaction fees.

I understand your point and what I mean or my point is that people would still get bitcoin if faucets still give same about as before or even a portion of the bitcoin that people got on faucet before when it is still a trend. I understand that if faucets give same amount if bitcoin as before then they would be bankrupt to this day that's why earning bitcoin from faucets to this day is time consuming and would only get very small amount of bitcoin.

There are many ways:

1. Faucets, giveaways, and other "free" coins. This is how I started. I guess I filled more captchas, than I should.
2. Buy them. This is how I got >90% of my coins.
3. Earn them. Well, some time ago I agreed to wear a paid signature.
4. Mine them. Not directly, but by mining and selling altcoins. Maybe in the future, it would be possible to directly mine millisatoshis (or even smaller units) on my CPU, and to contribute to the total hashrate, by putting a single drop in the ocean of miners.
5. Gamble them. Sure, I also did that. I got something around 1% of all my coins through gambling, but I guess it is mostly connected to faucets and giveaways. However, gambling is also a nice way of changing your coin amounts, if you need that, and rounding it up or down, depending if you win or lose. Usually, I gamble something around a transaction fee, and get either a "free" transaction, when my fees are paid by casinos, or "2x fee", if I lose.
6. Employment. I thought about it, and even tried it sometimes, but it is hard, to get it right. I am still far away from leaving my current job, paid in fiat, or from being paid directly in BTC. Maybe in the future.
7. Puzzles. There are addresses with very weak keys (for example private key equal to one). There are coins, signed with SIGHASH_NONE. Many coins are flying around, and sometimes you can even get them, without any signatures: https://mempool.space/address/bc1qft5p2uhsdcdc3l2ua4ap5qqfg4pjaqlp250x7us7a8qqhrxrxfsq2gp3gp

So, I guess if I bought most of my coins, then this is what I should tick in the poll.

I think the majority of mine was mining altcoins and converting those to bitcoin and holding that bitcoin. I remember during the 2017 alt coin rally I would mine Ethereum and would buy many small/mid cap type of alt coins and during the pop, I sold all of them for Bitcoin.

The issue was that even though the alt coins topped, so did bitcoin. However bitcoin dropped 80% and I held most of it, if I held those altcoins they went down 99% and many are gone today. It was basically pure luck, back then you could buy 10 different alts and they would 2-3x easily, maybe 1 or 2 didnt rally and you sold at a small loss, however back in mid 2017, you could buy literally anything and you would make money. Basically there were people who bought every single coins on Poloniex and made money on most of them.

What is surprising(or not) is that you didn't mention "trading" in your poll or even "lending" or "investments". LOL does it mean you don't think people could make susbstantial profits in cryptos by trading on exchanges, investing them in ICO or in lending products? Well, it's true that we don't hear about this kind of guys very often to be honest, but I'm sure they exist somewhere.
That is a good one, I suppose investments/trading could fall under Earn them
Yes, I agree with you it could fall under the "Earn them" option. But finally that's the second highest voted response. And I guess many people receiving Bitcoins from bounties chose this option instead of Employment(which hasn't received any votes so far) while it's a real part-time job for many people here, especially for people coming from poor countries. So in the next poll, it would interesting to offer an answer choice especially for bounties(including campaign signature), another for trading and another one for investments IMO.

I can still remember, how I earned my first BTC from signature campaign in the forum and I was very happy because i wish to hodl BTC when I was introduced to BTC investment, but the money was not there for me to use the simple way, which is buy BTC with money and hodl. I know there are some other ways you can use to hodl BTC, but they are not easy like the way you own your money to buy BTC without waiting for anyone before you can buy, and if you think about mining, it use to consumed a lot of data and energy before you can earn BTC from the mining before you can hodl BTC, which many people prefer to use money to buy BTC and hodl than depending on mining before they can hodl BTC.

There are some companies, that pay their employees with BTC because BTC is legalized in the country and their employees prefer BTC than Fiat money in the country, which many people can use that opportunity to hodl BTC.

I have just one way of receiving bitcoin, which is through a forum signature, but I have two ways of accumulating bitcoin, by saving some bitcoin, which I receive from the forum here, and by buying after receiving payment from the physical job, which I have. There are some people who have online jobs that pay them in bitcoin, and some people have physical shops that accept bitcoin as a payment method, so those are some ways that I know that some people are always using to get bitcoin.

In your polls I wanted to choose BUYING THEM, and EARN THEM, but I can only choose one among the two.
