Title: Which one is better. Bitcoin or gold?
Post by: Oshosondy on August 13, 2024, 01:46:39 PM
I noticed gold price to fall while sleeping in the night (GMT +1), around 1 am to 8am. But most time the price will rise during the day. I was trading tokenized gold which is not actually gold but its perpetual contract was on some exchanges. But I also do check the price of gold on MT4 to know what is actually happening to gold which confirms what I said about it.

I went short position several times and I am losing. But I think its price can easily be predictable. I am trading both bitcoin and gold and also I am trading some altcoins which are riskier but this is about bitcoin and gold. Which one do you like trading? I guess those trading gold will prefer to go long, especially around 8 am EST.

Well, I've never really traded gold, so basically, I am just going to for with what I am familiar with, which is bitcoin.
But all the same, I will take this as an invitation to learn more about gold, possibly apply a few trades to it and see how it goes, though I am not a frequent trader, like I only trade when ever I just feel like I should, more like a hobby or something I simply do just to catch some Cruz.

But again, that's just me, I am very familiar with gold on MT4, but have never thought of opening a trade on it, my focus has always been on bitcoin and ethereum, and sometimes when the crypto market is too unpredictable, I switch to fiat, like usd/euro, usd/jpy and so on and on.

Let me start with I am sticking with bitcoin strictly because I am crypto person not because of anything, i have seen many forex traders actually using some certain period of time of day to actually trade Gold, they sometimes short or long when some countries trade opens this things have actually made me think it is predictable but with some of the losses I see most times from some experience traders I don’t think it is predictable all the time.

The similarities between gold and bitcoin and why many traders prefers to trade it is simply because of their low volatility rate when compared to other currencies. As for bitcoin many prefers to trade it, because even if you don’t like that it is wise to analyze it first before taking other altcoin trades since they mostly follow its trend.

I don't trade gold, but I hold gold in physical form. I also trade Bitcoin, but I think Bitcoin and gold will be better for the long term. buy and hold.
gold has also had a good movement in the last 10 years. those who bought it when it was cheap and still hold it will be very happy.
but for gold trading on the exchange, I haven't done it. but if it's true as you said, a long position might be more profitable. although I also don't know how the price of gold can be profitable enough when the short-term price movement will be quite small.

I trade Bitcoin and some altcoins. I never traded Gold and there's chance that I might avoid trading it in future as well. Even only Bitcoin, Lite Coin, Ethereum, Ton, Solana, and a few such coins are more than enough for me to make my profits.

if someone wants to make good profits then altcoins can be good for that person but they are way more volatile and riskier than Bitcoin. However, if someone wants to make profits without much risk then of course there's no alternative of Bitcoin.

You can not choose anyone of them without experiencing or practicalizing any of them as a method of investment, I know very well that both bitcoin and gold is in class of a digital currency and what pumped the price of bitcoin can equally pump the of gold, so the common thing in them is that gold has no much firm as bitcoin has right now, so at market in trading the demands of gold can enhance for skyrocketing the price likewise bitcoin, so the one the demands is needed most or higher than each other is the one the price accelerate higher, that's my own suggestion.

I actually bought some gold but I didn't buy gold to trade and till date I haven't traded any gold. But I have been successful most of the time in Bitcoin and Altcoin trading. But I have accepted risk and loss while investing and trading Meme Coin in Altcoins. Although you can easily estimate the gold transaction price and it seems easy to you, but it is very difficult for me because I have never traded gold so it is very difficult for me to get the exact price. But it's a bit risky for me because I'm still trading bitcoin and altcoin, although your gold trade is less risky for you but much more risky than when I traded in bitcoin and altcoin, but that's just for me. Simply put I would choose Bitcoin trading over gold trading.

If you want an asset that is less volatile and is more safe haven in the days to come, then invest in gold. Its value may consistently move upward without having such threats to suddenly move at the bottom.

However, if you want to be more thrilled and excited with your investment and get rich in the long run, trust bitcoin instead and invest on quite a big capital. The risk to lose is high but the chances to make you an instant millionaire  is also high. Just buy and hold for couple of years without getting tempted to sell, I'm sure you will make impressive and excellent profits in the future that will terribly change your life status after that.

If you are a trader then the decision is easy, go for bitcoin, a trader only makes money when the market moves, and the more volatility there is, the more money it can be made, and since it is obvious that bitcoin is more volatile than gold then bitcoin should be your first choice as a trader, the issue are the alts you are trading, as if you are taking your chances with meme coins and the like, it is entirely possible you could lose a great deal of your capital if one of those coins collapsed.

Both investors and traders need the market moving because if the market does not move, there is no price growth and no chance for investors and traders to take profit. Both investors and traders need volatility in the market to make their entries and exits.

To have good entry price, they will need market corrections to buy with cheaper price and chance to get more profit after market rallies and grows upwards.

Quote

Altcoins are very risky because their teams are unknown in quality for development and dedication to keep up their project developments. Gold, Bitcoin have already been tested globally for many years and they have less risk to die than all altcoins. Bitcoin has already become a decentralized project in development that makes it nearly impossible dies.

I honestly like both but in terms of current usage bitcoin is much more profitable compared to gold. I also never trade gold because I prefer to keep it after buying it so there is not much to discuss regarding this. In the current situation after spending a few years in crypto I see bitcoin as one of the perfect concepts to achieve financial freedom. There is a force that drives us to choose bitcoin over others and the reason is much more acceptable to human common sense.

This drive is what makes some people feel it is important to choose bitcoin over gold. But if it can be used simultaneously it will be much better but I believe everyone has different views on this. All decisions must be taken based on mature considerations and involve knowledge in order to avoid unnecessary losses.

You should do what you think is right you don't have to try Gold just because OP or someone else is trading in Gold, as from the words of OP I can say he is also new to Gold Trading CMIIW. We all should first settle our minds about whether we need to do this type of trading or not.

However, just like BTC, everyone wants to go long even on Gold because people and I call BTC the digital Gold but with better benefits. I prefer to buy BTC, not Gold but still Gold is a good option. I don't do future trading so that's why I need more volatility and gold can't give me that.

actually, gold and bitcoin are both good. Both have their own advantages and disadvantages. Personally, I currently use bitcoin more than gold. That's because I feel that bitcoin is more flexible and easier to utilize than gold. However, my ultimate target is to have a lot of gold and bitcoin.
Gold has a very good rate of increase. Even if you look at it from the past few decades, prices tend to rise. It's safe to say that this is a very good long-term investment, and there's no need to think too much about it. Even though bitcoin has the same potential, we need special attention when investing in bitcoin. However, both have their advantages and disadvantages.

Gold market is more mature and old as compared to Bitcoin. Moreover market cap of Gold is also high when compared with Bitcoin. Regarding OP question that which one is better, to me it's more related to your skills that which market you can handle. If I have to invest then I will go for Bitcoin since I have expertise in Bitcoin. I won't go for gold because I don't have any experience of that market no matter how much lucrative it looks like.

I am more comfortable with the price of bitcoin and how I do gradually trade bitcoin than any other assets out there, though I don't know gold is being manipulated but for bitcoin is somehow possible to trade on it after making your research to see if there's good news that could push the price above expected, though it could be traded different ways either again the market or toward the market. Like when Green and or when Red. But most option traders do like trading when it's on red.

It certainly depends on individual's preference. If you are a low risk taker, prioritize gold investment over bitcoin, since it's less volatile and is most likely to give fixed profits in the future. However, if you are a high risk taker, bitcoin is the best option. Where there is higher risk, bigger profits await, and bitcoin can attest to that. But of course, one should invest learning all the basics first, and certainly invest at your own risk knowing all types of investments cannot guarantee secured profits 100%.

Gold, stocks, real estate markets are all manipulated. In any free market, we always have big investors and retail investors, professional traders and amateur traders, there are manipulations from professional institutional entities to direct the market toward their plans and get profit.

When you spend your money to invest, focus on long term, you will be less affected by manipulations in the market. Gold, stocks, real estate, Bitcoin, if you use own pocket money to invest for long term, you will get profit and are likely immuned against manipulations in short term.

It certainly depends on individual's preference. If you are a low risk taker, prioritize gold investment over bitcoin, since it's less volatile and is most likely to give fixed profits in the future. However, if you are a high risk taker, bitcoin is the best option.
If you are a high risk taker, and want to use high leverage for your trading position, Bitcoin is still a safest choice for you. Because Bitcoin is a leader in this cryptocurrency market and if Bitcoin falls 10%, altcoins will fall -20% or -30% or deeper. If you take a same high leverage with Bitcoin and altcoins, you will have bigger risk of liquidations on your positions in altcoin than in Bitcoin.

Both are good. Bitcoin doesn’t take physical space and it is easy to send and receive compared to gold. Gold on the other hand has a history of thousands of years and it is not easy to beat that. Bitcoin’s marketcap might get bigger than gold one day but I can’t tell if btc will exist 100 years later. Gold will. That’s the biggest difference.

In the end it is better to own both. It doesn’t have to be one or the other.

If I'm not wrong then OP mentioned that he traded tokenized gold or perpetual contract of gold and that's also not physical. However, if someone wants to really invest in gold then he/she has to accumulate gold and wait for its price to move up and that's could be a tough job because receiving and sending of physical gold is always going to be tough as compared to sending/receiving of Bitcoin.

I don’t really like “paper gold”. To me it is not really gold, it is just another promise. I’d like to follow the old saying: “If you can’t lick it, you don’t own it.” If you follow this wise quote, you can’t get scammed so easily.

Sending and receiving gold is not that important since it is not a currency anymore anyway and bitcoin isn’t much really different because its transaction fees can get expensive pretty fast and it is still expensive when it is cheap.

Obviously btc with high tx fees is still better than gold as a currency it is like comparing 0 to 1. 1/0=inf. However when you compare xmr or ltc to btc, then they act much better than btc as a currency. They are cheaper and much faster.

When it comes to trading there's nothing like which one is better because both of them are same thing.

Bitcoin is 100% decentralized, while gold is not 100% decentralized but high unlikely the price can be manipulated. Trading in both assets are good because you can maximize your earning especially you can predict the bottom and the peak of both assets.

Even though digital gold is a fake gold, but as long as you didn't hold too long, it's fine.

For me personally, I save some of money to gold and keep it there and forget it just in case I need some sort of urgent money, I don't think it's suitable to even trade for short-term if you invest on gold because in here gold is some sort of long-term investment and people store it for that. Because the habit of slow increase every year I think you can just forget it once you save some of your money there and grab more if necessary.

Just do both if you have affordable money to lose and know what to do.

I think that when participating in trading, the results we achieve will depend on each person's skills, knowledge and experience. I don't see a difference between trading bitcoin and gold. I have traded with both asset classes and what I have found is that both are unpredictable and it will all depend on our knowledge.

What I like more about trading in bitcoin is that we can trade 24/7 because the cryptocurrency market is always active even on weekends. Meanwhile, gold traders will have less time because the stock and foreign exchange markets will both stop trading at the end of the week.

Which one is better. Bitcoin or gold?
Bitcoin and Gold have mixed views on the trading side, for me both are good, of course we have to separate them between online and offline, if we play with the internet and enter the crypto market, It is clear that carrying out trading activities is the best thing and if you are in the real world without the internet and at the same time entering the real market, of course gold is better in trading matters.

If you talk about gold and Bitcoin, I can assure you that we live in two different realms and act in different activities, you definitely know what I mean, This means that the object has good value in trade in the eyes of people all over the world, gold is being hunted by many and Bitcoin is also being hunted by many, both have the best value in any case.

I prefer Litecoin for transactions myself because it's good and stable as currency but when it comes to XMR then I personally don't use it because of restrictions against it.

Since most of the transactions I do aren't high in value or have any wrong elements in those and that's why I don't care much about the privacy part. However, the ones who give high importance to privacy could go for XMR.

you hold both for the long term right? Gold will not be good enough for those who like the short term. but I don't know the gold trading situation on MT4. will its price movement remain the same as physical Gold in the market?
while for Bitcoin I think it tends to be more flexible. it can be traded or stored for the long term. both can still be profitable for traders and holders.

I also store physical gold. only for savings and to avoid storing fiat which is very easy to run out with higher desires than needs.

Price falls are common in both gold and bitcoins. Hence, a person cannot decide on the basis of this. According to me, both Bitcoins and Gold have their own benefits and disadvantages. It depends on the person, like which benefits he or she wants to avail. Gold is regulated by the government, hence huge taxes are imposed on it; on the other hand, Bitcoins are famous for their decentralized nature. Bitcoins also grow at a more rapid rate than gold; hence, the risk to invest in bitcoins is also very high. So if you want less risk, then gold should be your ideal decision.

Although both are valuable, I would give more priority to Bitcoin depending on the possibilities. Since ancient times, people have had a desire for gold but to the present generation, though gold is precious, it is very difficult to hold in own control. There are many people who cannot buy large amounts of gold even if they want to because there are various legal complications. Various organizations of the government may raise questions especially about the source of income. But no such complaint can be made in the case of Bitcoin. Being a decentralized currency, anyone can store bitcoins in their wallet as per their wish and it also facilitates transfers. Gold and Bitcoin are both valuable, but Gold is very slow while Bitcoin can yield much higher returns if held for a long time.

I think what you’re trying to describe is the decentralized nature of bitcoin which gives a very good edge against other assets. The decentralized nature of bitcoin and its availability and ease to get is what makes more investors turn towards it. Someone can have as Many bitcoin as they could possibly get to buy from the circulating supply without much notice if a single deposit address isn’t used but gold cannot be held in high quantities. But this doesn’t necessarily mean Gold doesn’t have its own advantages because investing to it simply means buying an asset that has stood the test of time and it volatility is perfectly ok too although Bitcoin volatility which is the worry of some is also reducing gradually than before

You should keep some xmr anyway because you’ll never know when you’ll need it. People need privacy for various reasons and you might need it to when the time comes. When it does, xmr will handle the jobs perfectly.

For everything else litecoin is great. Litecoin provides some privacy with mimblewimble too but some people say it is not as good as xmr so I wouldn’t rely on it too much.

Gold and Bitcoin are both suitable for trading. But gold and bitcoin are two completely different fields. In the case of gold, it is seen that all types of business are done offline, whereas Bitcoin is a complete cryptocurrency. I personally would be more interested in trading Bitcoin than trading gold. Because I see the future of Bitcoin is very good and it is more stable than all other coins. There are many more benefits of investing in Bitcoin. The advantage that I like best is that if I invest in Bitcoin for a long period of time and do it at the right time, I can earn a good profit in the future without any effort, so that my manual labor is not there at all. In contrast, there are only merit-based strategies. On the other hand, if I want to trade in gold, I have to do it in a specific place and for that I have to be there regularly and manage everything. All in all I think investing in Bitcoin is the most acceptable for me.

Are you sure?

You can do it online too through banks and your bank account as well but a biggest difference between Bitcoin and Gold is: with gold, you don't own private keys and if you store it in secure vaults at bank for example, you take risk and if that bank collapses like some banks in the USA. bankrupted in 2023, you lose your gold.

With Bitcoin, if you use a good wallet, you will have your own bank with private keys. It's your keys, it's your bitcoin and your control is not depended on any bank.

A good wallet to have your own bank has something like: open source, non-custodial (or self-custodial).

If you're unsure about a wallet, you can check wallet scrutiny review. Type the wallet brand name and read available reviews on it. If it is not reproducible, it's not a good wallet to use.

In the case of gold, it is seen that all types of business are done
offline, whereas Bitcoin is a complete cryptocurrency. I personally would be more interested in trading Bitcoin than trading gold.

Bitcoin and non-custodial wallets will provide us with the highest level of security but that doesn't mean there are no risks. The bank can go bankrupt and we will lose our money, that is the risk of storing assets dependent on a third party. In bitcoin, if we accidentally lose our seed phrase or accidentally become the target of hackers, we will have no way to recover our assets. In addition, the volatility of bitcoin is also a risk, if the price of bitcoin continues to fall for some reason, the value of our assets will also be seriously affected.

In my opinion, both are good investments but both have pros and cons, so diversification is the solution.

I will choose bitcoin because in bitcoin we can be surprise by the return of our investment and even if we have a small capital we can still earn big when the price soar so high, while in gold it needs a capital and it takes decade before we can earn on it. Bitcoin is full of surprise than gold the most exciting is the bitcoin price that can go up high anytime

Both can bring out the best potentials but in different ways. However, there is more risk trading in bitcoin because the market would be so much unpredictable, and you can't be sure if the outcome is in accordance with your desired goal. But we all know the more risky it is, the higher the amount of rewards is waiting. Unlike with gold, it's more considered as safe -haven, most particularly that its price is never that volatile and unpredictable.

Bitcoin make us easily controlling by our self when holding in wallet but we can't make privacy when investing in gold exactly hold it in the bank without guarantee will bank bankrupt or not such as happening with US Bank last year. Both bitcoin and gold have each self unique as investment assets from slowly increasing of profitable until how most security when holding bitcoin or gold.
Bitcoin give us privacy when saving in the own wallet not exchange wallet and its more secure than investing with gold but we need third party as Bank for saving our gold investment.

Gold assets depend on bank condition are bankrupt or not but with bitcoin during hold in wallet we have our self controlling because the key for accessing wallet in our hand. I think for investor want to get more privacy will hold or invest their assets in bitcoin than gold lack privacy and get risk by using third party for saving gold assets.

Gold is a good investment, but for someone that has a goal to multiply their money there is no doubt that bitcoin is a better choice, and this can be easily corroborated by looking at the charts of both assets and making a comparison, still gold is not the worst choice a person could make right now, as with the economy and the world being so unstable now, it would not surprise me if the price of gold made a big movement during the next years.

Bitcoin and non-custodial wallets will provide us with the highest level of security but that doesn't mean there are no risks.
There is no risk-free thing in life and we have to pick less risky things among many things that are more dangerous in life. With Bitcoin, we have good options with open source wallets but to be safe, we need verify, don't automatically trust anything including downloaded wallets.

Security checklist (https://chainsec.io/checklist/)

Quote
In bitcoin, if we accidentally lose our seed phrase or accidentally become the target of hackers, we will have no way to recover our assets.
Use good wallets, distribute our bitcoin to different wallets that are protected by strong passwords too. Always make sure to back up wallets properly and make sure backups are usable for recovery.

In addition, the volatility of bitcoin is also a risk, if the price of bitcoin continues to fall for some reason, the value of our assets will also be seriously affected.
It's a volatile asset, so afford to lose your money when investing in Bitcoin. The great point is, fortunately, risk in 2024 is smaller than in 2009 or some years after 2009.

Both have their good and bad sides.
I for myself preffer BTC, because with it what's mine it is mine and the best part is that I don't need a very big phisical space to store it. BTC can nowadays be sold much faster than if you have its equivalent in gold.

For me, trade Bitcoin. Because I don't see reason to trade gold. I am well familiar with Bitcoin and crypto currency, which are more volatile compared to gold. Because gold is stable and you can make only small money. But from Bitcoin, you can earn a big amount of money if you are well experienced. Altcoin is quite risky to me, though I have been trading as well. However, I only trade in spots, so I don't need to gamble with luck. If the price drops more than my buy price, just simply hold on with patience till I recover it. However, less risk, less earn; high risk also earn high. But you must study a bit before taking the risk and make reasonable decisions in real time. Otherwise, it's hard to gain from Bitcoin.

With Bitcoin, there are two ways to make money with it and Bitcoin market. Invest or trade, it's up to you to choose one of two options. I would like to pick Investing that is safer for me and my capital. In long term, investing can help me to get very good profit and by investing, I don't have to spend too much time for analysis, read news and interact with chart, computer like with trading.

Could you share some trading statistics? What have you made more profit on, trading bitcoin or gold?

As I assume, bitcoin looks better from a trading perspective than gold because it is a very volatile financial asset, unlike gold, which is considered a "safe haven" due to its price stability. Of course, the price of gold also has some volatility, but it is completely insignificant compared to bitcoin.

I prefer to trade Gold more than bitcoin ,in terms of volatility gold is more volatile and a little bit risky but when it comes to clear market structure and direction gold is much more better than Btc . One has to be very careful when trading Btc especially when shorting it crypto-lads never like shorts in it they are always going for the longs making it hard to predict the pair .

I think gold and bitcoin have become good future assets, I am not part of trading gold, I only keep a small amount as a real asset for the future, while on bitcoin I trade in small amounts even though the profits are small in a short time. Now the price of Bitcoin has surpassed gold. It can be concluded that gold and Bitcoin are both needed in this modern era. The difference is that we can only trade gold in real or physical form, while Bitcoin is a digital asset that is being sought after by many investors in the digital world.

If comparing the two, I would definitely consider crypto more valuable than gold because you can do anything anywhere anytime with bitcoin but with gold you can't do anything instantly there is risk in transportation.  I have traded in bitcoins traded in bitcoins done business with bitcoins everything that makes bitcoins worth so much to me.  I haven't traded in gold which is why gold is valuable to me but bitcoin is not.

But when it comes to bitcoin it is much more profitable because it is about taking advantage of price fluctuations that can be used to make a profit.
Gold is still a popular asset because of its stability and gold is also a good asset to store.
Gold is an investment for people in the past where they buy to store because it does not have such high speculative about its journey.

Gold will be very profitable if held for a long duration but the return will be much different from bitcoin.
Bitcoin is a fairly speculative asset but the return on investment is very maximum if invested in the long term according to the capital we put in.
I think both are still good choices but I prefer bitcoin as the main step

We can also trade gold in digital form but I don't trade gold as Bitcoin is better and more profiting. I don't know anything about gold and I'm not ready to start learning and following up movement of gold to be able to trade it. Gold has its benefits but Bitcoin has a wider range of pairs that it can be traded with Bitcoin. Bitcoin is easier for me to analyze before trading and the volatility of Bitcoin makes it quicker to make profits. Bitcoin is the more trending assets and it's going to do well this year and next year, hence it's more attractive to trade. I can hold Bitcoin and be certain that the price will go up. Bitcoin is the most profitable between gold and Bitcoin hence it has to be the better asset to trade.

For the traders, don't follow what others are saying and do your own research before choosing which one will be better for you to trade. If Bitcoin is more better than trade only Bitcoin but if you're finding it more easier to understand gold then trade gold and for those that can do both, do it.

Bitcoin is more risky than gold that is considered a safe-haven for traditional investors, but when it comes to trading, we all know bitcoin is more capable to yield bigger profits than gold itself. Because aside from its high volatility, bitcoin also has greater value compared to gold, so one who has much bigger value will be more profitable if you decide it to trade. Unlike gold which comes with a slow price hike, if ever it’ll increase, it could take few months or a year first before the rate levels up.

Gold trading could be done digitally as well, my bank has it and you buy if you want to and hold and then sell basically just as you imagine. But, it's incredibly boring and the profits are very thin in the short term as well, you would have to wait many years to see if you would. Historically, most of the years it has done worse than stock market too, to be fair there are crisis periods like covid or mortgage and what not which gold does a lot better, but aside from that in most cases gold does worse.

This is the reason, bitcoin is better because it's easy to trade and it's easy to make profit from, not only it makes more profit than gold, but it makes more profit than anything else if you get in at the right time and get it higher later on.

If you want an asset that is less volatile and is more safe haven in the days to come, then invest in gold. Its value may consistently move upward without having such threats to suddenly move at the bottom.

Yup, I do agree that Gold's market is a safe play and if you are a person who doesn't want to risk your investment in a volatile asset gold is the best choice, TBH Bitcoin is also progressing towards stability and less volatile nature which is good and bad both at the same time. As you know Gold market has a versatile and huge investment history, but Bitcoin is a newborn in comparison to Gold, and with Time Bitcoin will also adapt its stable nature, due to the high liquidity and much more decentralized holding compared to this timeline.

A good investment asset needs to have many thing, not only its popularity, adoption and if an asset is stable in value, it is not a good asset. Because you need to have an asset with good value growth over time.

Like nobody consider stable coins as good assets for investments but indeed they are only means for people in their deals with trade partners.

Bitcoin is a good asset because "It's your private keys, it's your bitcoins" and Bitcoin has very good design with 21 millions Bitcoin as its total supply cap. That together with its sharp adoption with time, demand on bitcoin increases considerably and price must react and rise consequently.

In total supply, Bitcoin is better than gold too because it has a limited supply, different than unlimited one of gold.

We cannot choose one of them before trying to trade and practice one by one, I really prefer trading on bitcoin in general on the bitcoin market every time the price rises I will make a profit quickly without having to wait long term. I apply gold as a physical investment for the future. Apart from that, gold has become a real investment that we can keep indefinitely.
You just have to choose between the two. Bitcoin's price is very volatile, it can be profitable quickly and there is also a high risk, unlike gold which goes in one direction and gold has also survived until now.

You can prefer gold over fiat like United States dollar or the fiat that is the legal tender in your country. Economy instability should not be the reason you should prefer gold over bitcoin.

Gold is less volatile and also a store of value. Bitcoin is more volatile but also it is a store of value but in long term. Both assets are good but I will prefer bitcoin because I prefer its volatility especially during bear market when there has been a massive fall in price which I see as another opportunity to buy.

If gold isn't a good asset, then what is it? Although it cannot provide as high returns as bitcoin, it is still recognized as the best inflation hedge. Not to mention, it remains one of the most reliable assets in today's volatile economy and that's why despite having a market capitalization of over $17 trillion, it is still up over 25% since the start of the year.

Bitcoin is a potential investment because of its volatility and it can be said that it is the best investment in terms of returns. But to say that it is the best asset, I don't think so. It is not yet an effective hedge against inflation, nor is it a good store of value due to its volatility. Most people only use it for speculative purposes, how can it be said that it is the best asset?

It is ironic that an asset that has proven its potential for over a thousand years and plays a vital role in the reserves of every country in the world is considered inferior to a 16-year-old asset with a market capitalization of $1 trillion.  :D

But for trading, I am more familiar with trading Bitcoin. I never tried to trading gold so that is why I like to hold gold besides of Bitcoin. Both can be a good way to make a profit from trading but you must have skills to analyzes the market.

Trading altcoin is risky but can also gives a profit if you can analyze. But with so many altcoin now, that makes us to be careful to select the one. Not many altcoin can gives you profit so you must research before trade.

It is possible to profit much more from gold in Bitcoin.  And one thing I always believe is that cryptocurrency is able to provide as much profit as anything else in the world in the same amount of time. However, there are many risks in cryptocurrency. Bitcoin is very volatile. Although you already know about Bitcoin, if you follow the recent dumping of Bitcoin, you will understand its risks. Recently the price of Bitcoin has dumped a lot and is still going down. Its price can go up as fast as it can go down.  But the price of gold is very strong and its price is not very volatile so it is very safe to invest here

This could depends on how active you trade, if you have tons of time watching the market price you can make a short term trading which is just flipping of coins and ride with the market volatility every minute which good to have profit, but if you don't have time and lose too much focus with the number of coins having a long term trading is ideal so you don't need to stress out yourself too much what is the current market price of that particular coin. Well you can do both which is great because you can increase your capital more and more and even make a DCA strategy.

but it seems some people have the idea that a great asset is an asset that gained so much within short term, well in my perspective a great asset is an asset that always outpace inflation and I agreed with your statement, gold is one of the most reliable asset there is.
It's just that gold price growth is suited for long term holder which some people find to be a bit boring, but speaking for the price growth disregarding the time it required, it's still impressive one, even 30% return within a year is much more impressive than those weak bank deposits.

You are right, most people are just speculators and what they are looking for is an asset that can give the highest return. Whatever asset can give them the highest return is the best asset, but that is just their own definition or concept. But if evaluated fairly and according to world standards, the best assets include many factors from popularity, legality, stability, safety...not just profit.

Bitcoin doesn't even have any of the above factors, how can it be said to be the best asset? These are just the views of bitcoin maximalists and they do not represent the rest of the world.

In my opinion, gold is suitable for people with large capital who like safety while bitcoin is suitable for people with small capital but want to get rich.

In my opinion, gold is suitable for people with large capital who like safety while bitcoin is suitable for people with small capital but want to get rich.
I somehow agree on this. The traditional investor folks will definitely prefer to get into gold as it has been proven for centuries or even more of its existence. While bitcoin, it sounds new to them and they can't go all in with it yet but definitely with those that don't have much, this is the game and place that they should go. However, it's not only for small players and investors but also for the bigger ones. I think in the long run that this narrative will change because of the large companies getting into Bitcoin, declaring their assets are into Bitcoin and they're holding a lot of it.

So, in the perspective fo trading, it's true that Bitcoin is better because it has futures options too. At some point, not all will attend to be a day trader and will turn into a conservative trader or simply an investor. Much better whatever works, there we will be. And in my opinion, Bitcoin is better in terms of everything, yes, I'm bias with Bitcoin and the volatility that it has got is much better. Someday, Bitcoin might be on the same shoes as gold when it will no longer as highly volatile as it is.

While gold hasn’t had the kinds of returns that Bitcoin has, it is still a good investment. Its price has outpaced the rate of inflation, which makes it a good store of value. Because of its lower volatility, gold might not be as attractive for everyday trading but it is still excellent as a long term investment. Because I’m only interested in something I can keep in self-custody, I prefer Bitcoin. Physical gold is just too cumbersome to hold and transfer and futures and ETFs don’t interest me enough.

Bitcoin doesn't even have any of the above factors, how can it be said to be the best asset? These are just the views of bitcoin maximalists and they do not represent the rest of the world.
to be fair bitcoin is still among one of the best asset though, speaking about legality, so many country already approve bitcoin for investment, commodity or currency of spending.
from the perspective of safety and popularity, bitcoin is liquid enough for it to be considered safe investment because your money isn't gonna get trapped in a market that's illiquid and speaking about popularity, almost everyone know bitcoin nowaday, so bitcoin is definitely up there standing side to side with gold in my honest opinion, the volatility might be a problem for some people but for me it's nothing but an opportunity.

I personally still always prefer investing in bitcoin than gold, much more convenient for me speaking from experiences.

Yes, not many countries ban bitcoin anymore and it is becoming more and more popular. With a market capitalization of over $1 trillion and a trading volume of around $30-40 billion/day, there is arguably enough liquidity for everyone. But if we take those things and compare them to gold, bitcoin still cannot compare to gold. Gold has a market capitalization of up to 17 trillion dollars, gold is not only legalized but also a national reserve asset of every country globally...It can be seen that there is still a huge gap between gold and bitcoin.

For me, bitcoin is a big opportunity but also a big risk. So I just consider bitcoin as the best investment (return), not the best asset. Because as I said above, my standards for the best asset are different from everyone else, I wouldn't just look at the profit aspect and rush to judge it as the best asset.

By the way, I am investing most of my assets in bitcoin and only a small part in gold but I want to look at things in the most realistic and fair way, I am not living in illusions or fooling myself.

Yes, I have traded Bitcoin before and am still into Bitcoin trading which I know what am making from long term trading, because it will be difficult for me to make such huge amount of funds from gold even though i hold the gold for long term before I can trade. And if you look at the way Bitcoin price use to move whenever the bullish season is available, it will be difficult for you to see gold move like that through out the week or month but you can see such flow from Bitcoin price. Bitcoin is still the best, if you can few the two very well, because Bitcoin is not control by the government and it can increase high or decrease at anytime without a permission from anybody in the country which is the reason i prefer Bitcoin both short term and long term trading.

but it seems some people have the idea that a great asset is an asset that gained so much within short term, well in my perspective a great asset is an asset that always outpace inflation and I agreed with your statement, gold is one of the most reliable asset there is.
Meme tokens can not be great assets because they don't last too long and except if you are internal team members or join these projects very early, you won't be able to get profit with meme tokens. At the ends of their short lives, these tokens will no longer have demands from community so they will have no price on the market.

They can give us super high ROIs in one day, several weeks or months but they're not good assets, I agree with you.

Bitcoin has been here since 2009, long enough to say it is a good asset by surviving in this market throughout 15 years with a lot of challenges but maintain to have very good ROI for investors and still alive. It's big different than all of meme tokens that have very short lifespans.

I trade bitcoin and some potential alt coins but haven't invested any money in gold yet so I have no investment experience here. Also, I think of gold primarily as a physical use. When considering between Bitcoin and Gold I would favor Bitcoin as I have done some trading here which has given me some experience from this trading.
I prefer to hold bitcoin over gold because if we hold bitcoin for a long time it might give us better returns at some point. As per our ability over time we will increase the bitcoin investment over a period of time and hold it patiently. Moreover, DCA can be used to buy small amount of Bitcoin on weekly monthly basis to keep Bitcoin investment active.

Bitcoin and gold both have advantages, but everyone has their own opinion because not everything works for someone. I have not engaged myself in the gold process. I like trading, and I am confident that gold is my safety net, but if you are lucky in trading, you will undoubtedly make a large profit. Some people prefer gold because that is what they engage in, and if you don't get enough knowledge about bitcoin, you won't see the benefits of trading, but I'm sure if someone engages in trading, he won't think about gold, but I don't know what some people feel about it because I haven't invested in anything as gold before that will give me profits. Since I no cryptocurrency have not think about anything I just focus on bitcoin investment and learning about trading and enjoying about trading because if you are learning and getting mentor that is guiding you through you will be enjoying it because you will be winning and be getting more confident about trading.

As a matter of fact, bitcoin and gold is even a good asset to have, so it's never a bad investment decision if anyone decide to own the both asset. What can actually make one be able to have the two asset is the amount of finance they have. But when an investor doesn't have enough capital to start with, Bitcoin becomes the first option because it allows you to invest with a small amount.

Yes; I agree with you. Both of good investment, so I can not be compare both of assets, I have an investment both of gold and Bitcoin. It's good opportunity to invest in Bitcoin because almost peoples have at least experience in Bitcoin trading, because here we can trade small or big amount of capital, everyone is are not familiar with gold.

My personal advice is as much as I can tell. There are many differences between bitcoin and gold but if you check its value you will find that bitcoin is much more expensive than gold. Many people I see in the past have compared bitcoin to gold and said bitcoin and gold are the same as they have no metal. If you think five to six years ago, the price of gold has gone up a bit compared to what it is now, but it hasn't gone down a bit, on the other hand if you look at Bitcoin, it's going up a lot faster, which I think is more valuable than gold.

If you have done business with bitcoins in the past then you already own a lot of money. But I also love gold because my family members love reading gold ornaments. But I prefer Bitcoin when it comes to crypto. I now hold about $2k worth of bitcoins.

You are right about Bitcoin being more convenient when it comes to making investments in it. The best thing about it is the affordability factor. Someone with just $10 can start buying Bitcoin whereas someone might not be able to get any gold with that amount. The profitability factor is also correct based on what we have seen so far, Bitcoin has shown huge growth since the time it was invested and started spreading and the growth percentage isn't comparable with gold because it's way higher than it.

However, if we talk about the security of the investment, gold will be ahead of Bitcoin in that area because gold has been around for centuries and it has been growing in value all this time which is why it is one of the most trusted investment assets of the world by now. Those who buy and store gold know that their money is safe because as long as the world exists, gold is not going anywhere and it will always be valuable.

I agree, that gold is a good asset to own and many of the elderly treat it as their best investment aside from real estate. And in our generation, there is no doubt that we're into Bitcoin and this gives us the idea of how they're feeling about gold investments. There's no debate about which is good because we have understood which is better and which will work best for us. If you can taste how good Bitcoin investing is, you'd definitely stand up and won't have any argument with anyone who keeps on making hateful comments about Bitcoin as an asset. You'd just leave that argument to them while you, you're waiting patiently until some good returns come during the bull run.

If you want an asset that is less volatile and is more safe haven in the days to come, then invest in gold. Its value may consistently move upward without having such threats to suddenly move at the bottom.

Both gold and bitcoin are good, but we can all choose what we know and are familiar with. I believe many people won’t choose gold over bitcoin because we don’t know anything about gold. However, Bitcoin is known for its volatility; furthermore, each investment has risk; the one you have knowledge of will be less risk for you. If you ask me which investment has more risk between gold and bitcoin, I will confidently say gold because I know nothing about it, so if I’m going to invest in it, there will be a high chance of me losing my money.

Another thing about gold investment is that it is only made for people who are already rich. Gold is very expensive before you purchase it; you need a lot of capital, unlike bitcoin, which you can use a small amount of money to buy till it reaches the amount you can afford. So I don't think bitcoin investment and gold are comparable.

I like trading Bitcoin and I never try to trading gold. In Bitcoin trading, we can use stop loss position so that will execute our trade if the situation is change and helps us to prevent the big lose. I don't know with trading gold but I guess that will be the same especially if the exchange have that feature.

It is better to buy gold than to trade it as gold is a good investment besides Bitcoin. Maybe I will take a look of trading gold later but I am not sure if I wants to trade it as I don't have much skills to analyzes the moves.

Speaking of gold trading, if you are trading gold on the digital market, it's still the same thing as cryptocurrency, meanwhile most investors in the society have an utmost desire to invest in a real physical gold rather than trading gold digitally and also trading Bitcoin In that manner. That's why those that have enough capital will only trade or invest in Bitcoin and in real gold. To diversify one's investment, it must be specifically on two different asset, going for a digital gold is the same thing as going for Bitcoin.

Buying bitcoin is like you are buying physical gold. Although gold is physical while bitcoin is digital. Trading gold through broker is like you are trading bitcoin on the derivative exchange. About digital gold which are not gold, they are like tokenized bitcoin. Which means the digital gold are only backed by gold and not gold.

We can see the movement between the two and it is clear that trading gold does not have as much risk as trading Bitcoin but all of that will also be worth it with the potential profit that will be obtained.
I think if it is for trading, Bitcoin is clearly the choice because if we trade gold, there is not much profit that we can get.

It is true as you said, gold is bought only for investment so that its value does not drop drastically, while Bitcoin has all the possibilities with a high level of risk, both for trading and for investment.
between gold and Bitcoin I think there are many significant differences, and all goals return to each person's plan.

Trading is much more than what you people are thinking. If you are trading much volatile asset, you will use small amount of money if you are a good trader. I traded gold through a broker to realize that it is also very volatile but it depends on the leverage that you use. You will see people that is trading gold through broker argue with you that gold is more volatile. You are right that gold is less volatile but it also depend on the approach, the leverage or the lot size that you used. But if you are referring to physical gold, you are 100% correct.

Trading is not always about leverage, I can trade spot without leverage for a large amount and for me the crypto market will still be highly volatile, but I will not worry about leverage becoming my problem, because I can stay in the trade for as long as I need. Gold can also be treated differently, you can contact a broker and trade with leverage, but you can also buy gold in the form of small bars, or even better in a pawn shop, or from jewelers (if you can find one) so as not to overpay and then you also will not need to worry about leverage, for you it will become a long-term investment without the risk of losing.

I don't think 67% in the past 5 years is a good move, its actually a terrible one. I would expect something much much more than that if I invest for 5 years. Let me tell you something like this, if you invest right now to bitcoin and keep it for five years, I guarantee that you will make at least 100% somewhere along the line, probably within a year itself, but certainly somewhere in 5 years without a doubt.

There is no reason to see 67% in 5 years and think that's good, that's not good at all, its horrible. I believe that the best thing to do would be just considering better approach to bitcoin because it definitely brings in better profits. I do not understand the sudden love for gold that people have, there is no need to do something like that.

I personally understand that people want to invest into something that they know and gold is something they already know so they want to invest into that but the reality is that we are not going to get anything good out of that.

I like to trade both and it has been good so far. Gold and Bitcoin have their good and bad days, I would also like you to perish the idea that Gold will be doing the same thing all the time, there are times it will follow a pattern for a while, but with time, it will switch to another, that's the market dynamics, which is why we should always analyse the chart for proper guidance and give no room for any chance.

For this, we should never predefine any signal as you did. We should go long when our speculation tells us to do so, the same goes for short positions too.

This kind of question will matter depends on what people understand.

Since if they are long time Gold investor then for sure there would be no question that they select gold than bitcoin then think that asset is so risky since the market is volatile and this will bring bad luck on them especially if they lose their money from unwanted situations.

Also with bitcoin for sure people will say that this is better since the volatility could able to bring them huge profit especially that if they spot good position for their daily trades. Or if they could able to hold for more years then there's huge chance that people who hold bitcoin would able to earn a lot from it.

So with these selection we can really say that picking an asset to invest will vary depend on what has been introduce to them.

A 67% return on $1 million will make a bigger difference than a 100% return on $1k, which is why bitcoin is often the choice of small investors while gold is the choice of institutional, large investors.

Gold is not too volatile, stable and cannot bring high profits but is clearly much safer than any other investment. Meanwhile, bitcoin can be highly profitable because of its volatility but comes with greater risk.

Which one is the best investment will depend on how much capital we have and what our goals are. If someone had millions of dollars, I don't think they would be willing to invest all of it in bitcoin but they would be willing to invest all of it in gold. Because their priority at that time was safety, not big profits. On the contrary, if you have only $1k to $100k and want to become a millionaire like them, bitcoin will be the choice for you.

I agree that it's something that is not an easy to answer because it depends on the situation and these type of straight up answers do not consider any of that. I have seen people quite happy on something as simple as putting it in a bank for savings and just take interest there, it is not even as high as inflation and they were still fine with it. Because they think that the yare happy with what they have there and as long as that's the case, we are talking about stuff that will not change much in the end at all.

We know those people, they are just happy that they are getting a bit and they know that the risk is very low, so they are not really worried about making anything more. For those people gold is of course better looking than bitcoin for example, we can't say anything else. I believe that it is going to be a tough situation to handle for some people to be in bitcoin because it's such a volatile asset and not everyone is ready to handle such a volatile asset.

Different assets have different behaviors, gold has been the standard for what a store of value should be for millennia, so it is not odd at all that someone that is looking to preserve their wealth considers gold to be their best option, especially when there is a great deal of turmoil all around the world, however for those that have a greater interest on increasing their wealth, then an asset like bitcoin is a better choice, as instead of waiting for years or decades to see a big movement, you only need to wait months for this to happen.

As I said, it all depends on each person's needs and we will make the choice that suits us. Both have their own pros and cons and have different use cases, neither is perfect. But bitcoin investors always focus on volatility and returns and think bitcoin is the best and owning gold is pointless.

Just because it's not our choice and doesn't suit us doesn't mean it's useless or no longer appealing. Gold is still gold, still an asset that has existed for thousands of years, plays an important role in the economy and is still a good choice in today's unstable economic world.

I am a bitcoin investor and I am like you, want to make quick profits from my small capital but if I had millions of dollars, gold would be my choice for asset diversification.

Profit is all people care, after safety of their initial capital. Defend their initial capital, maintain it as how it starts is key, a first and most important thing with any investor in any field from stocks, real estates, gold to Bitcoin markets.

Profit is a next important thing of consideration and it's not wrong to think of it as an investor. Anyway, through my years in Bitcoin market, I definitely don't deny this fact, but I actually realized another fact that is missed, hidden with many people. It is Bitcoin provides us great chances of getting great profit but during a same period, it provides us safety and somewhat, we can consider it as, stability.

This stability of Bitcoin price, makes it totally different than thousands of abundant altcoins in this market. Altcoins are more volatile than Bitcoin and in short term, in a bull market, they can provide higher ROIs than Bitcoin. But after a full market cycle, that is four year, or longer period like 2 or 3 market cycles, they failed in comparison with Bitcoin.

It is shown clearly in Bitcoin & Traditional Assets ROI (vs USD) (https://casebitcoin.com/) at https://casebitcoin.com/ (https://casebitcoin.com/).
