The rules to play are simple; pick the teams that you think will beat the spread prediction for that week's matchup. Picking against the spread is a little more complex than simply picking the winner, and adds to the challenge. Predictions will be made for all NFL weekly matches, up to 16 matches per week. At the end of the contest, the participant with the most points (i.e. highest number of accurate predictions) wins the competition. It can be daunting to learn about a whole new sport, but there's plenty of information and analytics out there if you choose to do the research yourself. There is the option to use an email address instead. It's not the default, so you have to look for and select that option when it prompts you for your phone.
I was able to create my account on the PC using a web browser, and only provided an email address. If you're concerned about your privacy (and keeping a low profile from advertisers) that's the way I would recommend you set up your profile. Unfortunately the website doesn't have the predictor function, for that we have to use the phone app. But once your profile is created you can login on the phone with the same credentials.
