Title: Request to Mods
Post by: _noname_ on March 31, 2014, 08:13:38 AM
Bitcointalk forums are integral part of crypto scene. Lots of good technical discussions here. When something bad happens (MtGox), people discuss those issues here. So a discussion taking place here holds some weight. Also an old member carries more weight naturally

Recently all this goodwill was abused. BitcoinExpress created this thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=546338.0

Which is misleading to begin with as fork was planned since weeks. Then he goes on to create general FUD and is still at it. He has done the same with other coins in the past. This is not how these forums should be used. That thread is linked from multiple sources and articles and created a general fear overall.

I request the mods to atleast consider the possibility of resetting the account of BitcoinExpress to a new account, so he can never spread misinformation like this again.

mod note: topic moved from the altcoin board

you know there is a "report to mod" button if you have an issue with a post or poster?

Thanks I didn't knew that. All I want at the very least is to get attention of wider community about this abuse of Bitcointalk. I will link this thread in the original thread as well.

When an exchange adds a feature to short cryptos the lies and fud will grow tenfold.

The way people behave now, it's almost like they can already short them.

I really hope they never do add the ability, as it'll really be the wild west then. And I don't mean in the forum, but teams trying to ddos pools/fork/destroy coins even more than they are already trying. It'd end up with a situation where no sane person would want to put any money into cryptos at all.

That being said, Auroracoin was indeed multi forked at the pre planned hard fork. Someone, not me hit the chain right at block 5400 exploding the nethash from 1.2 ghs to more than 35 gbs in less than a minute. I posted conflicting block chain infomation from the several block explorers available along with screen shots.

A multipool whose profitability filters AUR passed because of the diff change.

@BCX

I have apologized about creating this and other thread. You did the right thing and it has done the greater good.

I was slightly riled up by claims that blockchain will be destroyed. My understanding about TW is it will allow an attacker to mine rest of the chain. This mismatch and your earlier haste in calling preplanned fork as an attack, made me see you as less credible.

But all said. Thanks. As this whole thing has found a fix to a problem.
