Title: Charity Auction- Tampa Bay Animal Rescue/Relief from recent hurricane(s) Post by: ChiBitCTy on October 12, 2024, 05:10:18 PM Tampa/St Pete are near and dear to my heart having lived there for many years, so seeing two Hurricanes come through and fuck a lot of stuff up these last few days, I haven't slept all that well. Sure I care about the people struggling, but as an animal lover, I think about all the feral and stray cats and dogs. There is no where else in the US where it's a worse problem.
This area is also an ambassador of bitcoin.. In 2014 bitpay scored the naming rights for the local bowl game (often the Gasparilla Bowl or simply St Petersburg Bowl) the 2014 ESPN Bitpay Bitcoin Bowl Game ( https://www.inverse.com/article/39766-bitcoin-bowl-college-football-cryptocurrency-st-petersburg ). I had just learned about bitcoin around this time. In 2014 only weirdos like us knew about bitcoin and everyone thought it was a scam, mostly ( I got a lot of shit at Raymond James where I worked from all the traders/investment experts..as they saw me reading Mastering BTC). Bitpay didn't just host the game, they went around the stadium to local businesses (like the famous Fergs Sports bar) and taught them about bitcoin, as well as set them up to be able to accept payments in btc for that "game week". I remember going to Fergs months later and the front door had the "BTC accepted here" sticker. I paid for my and my dates dinner w/bitcoin and she was so confused and wasn't sure if I had paid for dinner at all when we left lol. Anyways Tampa is a second home for me. I found out about bitcoin while living there in an odd way. I was going at SeaWorld hard at the time, a very cruel prison for Orcas, and read about these "Anonymous" hackers who were as well, and the article somehow mentioned they accepted btc payments to help them. Whats Anonymous? whats Bitcoin? I remember thinking. That lead me to the Anonymous Mint BTC/Anonymous man/silk road copper coins, my first collectible. Shortly after I found this Kialara thingy and Cas something I couldn't pronounce. Emailed both creators immediately as I was blown away as a coin collector and newly btc advocate. Mike actually emailed me back (saying check ebay, smh) then I heard from Kialara who sold me a few bars and told me about a cool forum where you could buy these collectible things...bitcointalk. Today I'm still fighting for animals, I love bitcoin and collectibles like the rest of you, I'm a huge supporter of white hats, hence my known love for Mr Robot, Kialara became a good friend, and the rest is history. Sorry for the novel, but I felt sharing all this was kinda important. I also was taking care of 3 feral cats at the time. I had my small baby girl dog who'd get destroyed by a cat so I couldn't adopt as they were just a tad too old/big (Roxy my pup was 4lbs). When I left FL I thought of them daily. I did leave food and money for them..hoping they lived a decent life. Now with this recent disaster many cats and dogs without homes are really struggling and filling up shelters like crazy. I want to help them! My goal: raise money to help shelters. Best Friends Animal Society accepts btc directly ! - https://bestfriends.org/stories/features/helping-hands-pets-2-florida-shelters I am caring for 2 ferals at my house rn, and it's really inspired me. I can't help but think of the 3 kitties I once cared for (seen below) and what they'd be going through rn. Want to help? Bid or donate items..or just plz share the thread. Also I don't know how to make images smaller, if anyone can possibly assist, I'd love you forever. My cats have set off my security sensors about 100 times while I wrote this up , so they need fed and I need a nap..otherwise I'll figure out how to size them down later on. https://i.ibb.co/7YkG5cc/ca.jpg (https://ibb.co/3rR0qXX) Google to see the damage. Also google Tropicana Stadium where the btc bowl was played, see how it's doing (honestly, worst stadium in US pro sports, so mehh) BUYING/BIDDING 1. Please keep posts limited to bids or questions regarding the item for sale. 2. If there are multiple lots for sale please specify which lot you are bidding on, followed by your bid. ex: Lot 1 @ 0.02 BTC 3. To avoid confusion, please post an exact bid. Posting an increment to someone's previous post, especially without quoting that bid, can lead to unnecessary problems. 4. Please do not edit your bids once they are posted. Instead, post again and state the issue. The Auctions board by default does not allow for edits, but being able to host auctions here in the collectibles section is convenient. Lets try and keep it that way. Thank you! ESCROW Ok, so you just won your first auction. Now what? Do you send pmt to the seller in the hopes that they ship your item? No. Just utilize a trusted escrow member. Here are two recommended bitcointalk escrow service threads: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2439910.0 & here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=276897.0 1. Inform the seller that you would like to use an escrow service. 2. The seller and yourself will contact the escrow and let them know you would both like to utilize escrow. 3. Escrow member sends a group pm stating the terms and payment address 4. The buyer sends winning auction bid to the escrow plus any fees 5. The seller ships item to escrow 6. Upon arrival to escrow, the funds get released to the seller and item is reshipped to buyer. SNIPING - Sniping rules can sometimes get confusing, especially if there are multiple lots in the same auction. (as we saw with the Gold Halving Coldkeys auction) example: Any bid made within the last 10 minutes of the auction ending will extend the auction by another 10 minutes. What does this mean exactly? What if there are 5 bids placed within the last 10 minutes of the auction? Does that mean there are 50 minutes added to the end of the auction? It is much easier to follow an auction as a bidder knowing you have 10 minutes from the last bidder and the clock restarts with every bid. Feel free to copy and paste. Maybe eventually we can all just post "10 minute standard sniping rule" in our auctions and understand exactly what it means... 1. 10 minute standard sniping rule - Any bid made within the last 10 minutes of the auction, will restart a 10 minute clock for each bid thereafter. Meaning if the auction ends at 7pm and a bid is made at 6:51, the new ending time is now 7:01. If a following bid is then made at 6:55, the new ending time will be 7:05. This will continue until 10 minutes have elapsed from the last bid. 2. 15 minute standard sniping rule - Any bid made within the last 15 minutes of the auction, will restart a 15 minute clock for each bid thereafter. Meaning if the auction ends at 7pm and a bid is made at 6:46, the new ending time is now 7:01. If a following bid is then made at 6:49, the new ending time will be 7:04. This will continue until 15 minutes have elapsed from the last bid. 3. 1 hour standard sniping rule - Any bid made within the last 1 hour of the auction, will restart a 1 hour clock for each bid thereafter. Meaning if the auction ends at 7pm and a bid is made at 6:25, the new ending time is now 7:25. If a following bid is then made at 6:42, the new ending time will be 7:42. This will continue until 1 hour has elapsed from the last bid. Bids start at 0 BTC, increments of .0001BTC Ends Oct 19th 6PM Eastern "Lot 1"- this lot is not for bidding. Title: Re: Charity Auction- Tampa Bay Animal Rescue/Relief from recent hurricane(s) Post by: alandelon on October 13, 2024, 05:35:46 AM You have a big heart for animals. I’m very sorry for what is happening there. Of course, I will support "Best Friends" and make a generous donation to them so they can save many kittens that are in a delicate situation. I really appreciate that you have 2 wild kittens there who are safe thanks to you. Interestingly, a week ago I rescued a stray cat and was able to find it a family. I know how difficult it feels; you have a big heart.

Lot 2: 0.0036BTC Max- Title: Re: Charity Auction- Tampa Bay Animal Rescue/Relief from recent hurricane(s) Post by: ChiBitCTy on October 19, 2024, 06:57:13 AM Bump- about a day and a half left, if you love dogs and or cats..this will ensure a few will go from suffering to peace, for me, that means a better nights sleep and sheer happiness.
Poly, Max appreciate the offers! I’m happy to run another auction and add something else myself. It’s very generous of you both. (Of course don’t feel obligated, I’ll have other charity auctions in the future, but also of course more than happy to contribute to an urgent cause as much as I can) @Kialara I’m here doing this because of you. Maybe I woulda found my way here, maybe not (always kinda wonder that ). Plus I’ll never forget your charity auction when I first discovered Kialara and btc not too long before that and it inspired me @polymerbit I knew the Tampa part, love to see another animal lover as well :) Felt my backstory of Tampa Bay and Bitcoin were sorta important to why I’m doing this, wanted to inspire a bit as mentioned the game was a big deal and part of BTCs history and uprising. Plus, I know quite a few of us collectors have connections to Tampa Bay (places like Tierra Verde 😏) and the surrounding areas. as a side note - my fiat job boss - his wife does animal rescue, specifically for dogs though, not cats. Meant to respond much earlier..forgot to mention while this is kind of centered around cats due to my story, dogs will also benefit from this. Maybe a portion can go to her. Any info you can provide, or more so a personal thing she does on her own? Thanks everyone for bidding and chiming in! you're a good man Charlie Brown. my team was the first responders to the citizens of madeira beach for relief with goods and basic necessities for people in need. and there will be more help needed in the future, the animal centers in our area for sure need a lot of help, than you for this, its mighty kind of you bro. https://ibb.co/bLGKj4F Title: Re: Charity Auction- Tampa Bay Animal Rescue/Relief from recent hurricane(s) Post by: SurfinPanda on October 20, 2024, 03:54:01 PM Thanks for the auction! I am really impressed by your kindness. You have a big heart and I congratulate you from the bottom of my heart for your initiative to care for animals. Actually we should work with wildlife. These floods caused a lot of damage to wildlife. A few days ago I rescued a kitten from the river bank. I am very sorry to see the condition of the kitten. Then release the kitten in a good place. I really liked your great initiative so I posted even after the campaign ended. |
