Title: Personal usergroups
Post by: Maged on March 31, 2014, 05:30:26 PM
As I alluded to in my post-level permissions thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=551774.0), one nice feature would be user-made usergroups. Basically, you can make a group and use it in place of a specific user in fields that would require a user, such as a PM.

You would probably give the group some kind of prefix so that it's clear that it was made by a user.

This sounds a lot like how reddit has subreddits. Is this closer to the idea you had in mind?

I was thinking more like contact groups in email, so I haven't really thought through whether we'd want a subreddit type system...

I have a similar, also different, idea in mind:

Usergroups can be created, managed and deleted. Usergroups can be created by the users(maybe limited by something similar to Activity now). Entering a Usergroup can be automatic or by approval of the Usergroup's founder. Usergroups have an avatar and a message wall, viewable by the members. The Usergroups a member is in are viewable in his Profile.
