Title: COIN - Cryptocurrency for real world applications
Post by: coin-project-part2 on March 31, 2014, 06:57:32 PM

COIN
Cryptocurrency for real world applications

|| 60 seconds blocktime || 1,200,000,000 COIN || Kimoto Gravity Well ||

COIN:

is a general cryptocurrency aiming for real world application. In this world where new altcoins are appearing daily, COIN is taking a place missed by almost every altcoin issued today. A real world application of cryptocurrency. Most of the altcoins have funny or silly name, or name that is made up purely for speculation.

Be honest to yourself and try to imagine using cryptocurrency in real world. Are you using animal named coin? Funny or silly named coin? Are you using beercoin for buying beer, breadcoin for buying bread and milkcoin for a milk? Or you are using just one coin? A general purpose coin like COIN?
COIN is ready for all your needs, for beer, for bread and milk. It's ready for all merchandise and all products available, not just specific products. Coin is made for real world applications, not just speculation.

COIN is doing good on the following voting sites:

CryptoALTeX https://www.cryptoaltex.com/index.php?page=newcoin
Cryptokk.com http://www.cryptokk.com/?p=votes

Please intensify your voting to keep the advantage.

Please let me know if I missed anything in the main post of this thread. I went through the old thread and think I got everything, but information was spread all over during the last weeks.
I have changed the title as suggested.

Btw Great work with the Mac Wallet! That looks really good to have in the main post.  :)

Please vote

Some of you have asked how you can help COIN.
One way you can help for sure is by voting. The few of us that have voted regularly have succeeded in getting COIN pretty high ranked on the two exchanges below. We will eventually reach the goal, but it could be so much faster if the rest of you also helped us in this matter.

CryptoALTeX https://www.cryptoaltex.com/index.php?page=newcoin
1 vote per day for members. Cryptos with more than 100 votes have a chance to enter the exchange.
COIN currently has 36 votes, and is ranked as No. 6 out of 39 coins.

Cryptokk.com http://www.cryptokk.com/?p=votes
1 vote every second hour for members. The exchange uses the voting to check the interest for the specific cryptocurrency.
COIN currently has 38 votes, and is ranked as No. 2 out of 131 coins!

Why is it being re-[ANN] ..?

Why is it being re-[ANN] ..?

dev is on holiday, and we needed control of main post of the thread as it started getting way outdated. Sorry for the confusion.
But please join us, diff is low!
Even solomining is still very easy. I did mine a bit yesterday with 450 kh/s and found 2 blocks in no time.   :)

Why? Community matters much more than newness.

Except confusing name, is there something new in this Coin coin ?

Our name is our ticker: "COIN", and that is cool!  8)
We don't need a dedicated field for a name, so 3. party sites usually puts our description there instead. "Cryptocurrency for real world applications"

COIN was never about new features, but rather creating a multipurpose coin that works good. And indeed it succeeds in that matter.
Smooth fair launch, wallet that syncs fast, payments that clear quickly and last but not least a small loyal, but growing community.

Cool Shuxy.  8)
You have created the first site besides exchanges where COIN can be used! I will add your site to the main post immediately.

As a "bounty" I have tested your game and lost several thousand COINs already  ;D

It works fine, however there seems to be a little cosmetic bug.
When I signed up the balance showed "0E-8" instead of just "0" as I would have expected.

Another feedback: You write that profit can be "Max 1000 COIN per bet". However I was still able to bet 1500 COIN at odds 2. You should handle that in some way.

I noticed that last night as well, my logic had a small error and I've since fixed it.

When I signed up the balance showed "0E-8" instead of just "0" as I would have expected. <- This happens because you've 0.00000000 COINs, I will work on it when I've time :).

For now I'm glad it's launched, time to sit back and relax for a while.

Have fun and thanks to everyone for trying :)!

Hi edric,

Not at the moment. This is part of a larger idea I have in mind. I may open-source it in future but for now I'll be happy to help in terms of algorithms/tips, but not the full source itself.

Hi cinming,

I had a few people test and they're able to see their balance. My test account is working fine as well. May I know what device you're using? I just checked and your balance is now 21788.49185728...

That's weird. I've tried it across Chrome and Firefox and the mobile browsers and it works. Can you just try logging out and in again, and/or clearing your browser history? And try Shift+Refresh on your browser. Thanks. I see your balance at  21788.49185728 now...

Also, do you see the Bet History at the bottom? And the Twitter widget?

Thanks!

Just setup my faucet to work with Coin some hours ago!

However, it is dry as an unused diaper :)

If the devs (or anyone else) can help filling the faucet... it would be great :D

And I hope other members of the community also will help a bit.  :)

Maybe those desperate souls selling COIN @ 10 satoshis want to try and give them away ? Pretty much the same, anyway ;)

I'm out of BTC right now :( , but as soon as I have some, I'll get that low hanging fruit, just leave them there for a little while longer :P

Guys, what's happening ???

Very low net hashrate ~10MH/s only !!

Away for a while and my miners dropped on me (guessing burnt smell in the garage wasn't a good sign  :'( ), so I've been out of the game for a while (just buying), but come on!
Where did everybody went? We have to get some hash power back ...

Any news on coin-project's vacations :P ? 3 weeks is a long time for no show from the dev ...

If the devs (or anyone else) can help filling the faucet... it would be great :D

Faucet donation address: CPfvVEgVSDHy4pHhpdrjakZaHnhzR8HkEG

Also, if there's a bounty, i would gladly like to claim it here: CcxhK11KJXAvkwnGbC3szbAqWLcr33PMLN

Happy dripping!

Very good initiative! I will use my own hard mined COIN to help fill the faucet. Just sent you 10000 COIN. Hope it is ok for a start?
And I hope other members of the community also will help a bit.  :)

Thank you! indeed the faucet is dripping! The community has had an amazing response to this initiative.

Sent 10,000 COIN to CPfvVEgVSDHy4pHhpdrjakZaHnhzR8HkEG :).

Yea, that holiday seems to be long lasting  ;)
Anyway he always said "A coin can survive without its developer, but not without community."
He is probably watching us from the sideline to test his theory. Maybe he will be back soon when he sees how good we are doing.  :)

Heh. All good as long as everyone has fun! :)  Cool, I made sure to test before I put that out. My initial code actually called send twice so if I hadn't tested everyone would have gotten twice their balance!

Rustyknight: Thanks! Appreciate it. Also COIN2 was made a while before COIN so I don't think it's the same Dev.

Welcome! Always good to see new people finding their way to COIN. You will find that we still have a low diff, and you should be able to get a good pile of COIN by mining.  ;)
Anyway, if you have some suggestions on sites where COIN should be present, please do not hesitate in posting your input on this board.

Good luck.

Had a problem with my hosting provider and the server was shut off for a bit. Unfortunately, this did some damage to our DB, I'm currently working on fixing it.

Title: Re: COIN - Cryptocurrency for real world applications
Post by: edric on April 11, 2014, 08:23:34 AM
Ok, I un-borked the database.. It left us with quite a few blocks that were found, but unaccounted, so I'm going to take the amount of Coin that is in the pool's "Liquid Assets" and proportion it out to the people who were mining, pla8896, MrCon, and mmx888. I'll only be able to approximate it based on your shares in a current round.. I'm really sorry for the mess, but it's really the best I can do given the circumstances. I appreciate you guys!

Edit: Sent ;)

I hope I got it right.. I went by your share percentages for a round right before the pool went offline.

Hopefully that's our only hiccup for a good long while.

It's now selling for 1 satoshi and the order book is less than 2 millions :(

COIN is having a near death experience ...

I'll post this on both threads.

When there's no more buy orders, if anyone wants go give them away, here's the RIP address : Cc25Auhg2DhWYv8bKDsijofWRdyyhp6qWU

If COIN actually dies, it would be nice to have them all in the same final destination. just send them into that address and I'll keep it alive until all coins are in there.
If the network runs out of hash, I'll keep the chain going to mature the last remaining transactions.
After that, with all coins in one wallet and all blocks confirmed and matured, I'll do a nice zip package of source code, compiled windows wallet and fully sync'd blockchain and files and we'll find a way to send it to the internet museum, of sorts.

COIN will be the first properly disposed dead crypto currency :|

Those that don't fancy such a grim scenario: this time we must really start talking about a takeover (that's you, Vilgem :) ). A dev that doesn't comeback after 2 month simply doesn't care anymore.

It never died :D

Nevertheless, my pool is running without issue and I will continue support of Coin throughout the remainder of its lifecycle. I may take over development if necessary, I've had to take over as the Birdcoin dev as well. I am willing to expand the scope of my services if there's any interest.
