Title: [Ninja solved] Add new trust type - private? (not a script) Post by: Vod on January 19, 2025, 06:48:03 PM https://vod.fan/image/zZ/Trust_summary_for_trusteecash_-_Google_Chrome.jpg (https://vod.fan/zZ)
How about adding a new rating type to allow users to better track those they trust? As a dbase developer I know this won't be difficult, but I have no clue about Theymos' custom programming. I suggest Private - Visible only by you. Does not affect ratings. Users seem to get upset if I leave a neutral rating about their asking for a non-collateral loan. Most recently, as user asked me to remove it after just a few days, saying he would not ask for a loan again and had collateral. After realizing I wouldn't take his word, he claimed I had no authority to stop him from asking anyway. ::) I don't want to harass these people, but I do want to protect the community. However, I'm not in love with the community enough to donate more time (what really matters) and offline resources to track potential scammers. If only I could go back in time to when Bitcoin was $1 to get a Donator tag. :( Title: Re: Add new trust type - private? Literally adding any new trust rating is not really necessary. I think the forum is contented with the available ones unless you have any personal motive for making this request. In the meantime i know Theymos wont engage in this discussion. Title: Re: Add new trust type - private? And wouldn't it be the same as a script if implemented in a browser extension like BPIP? Asking because I've already done something similar: [Script] BitcoinTalk User Notes (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5411599.0) Title: Re: Add new trust type - private? Obviously this script is what I need. Thx. :) And wouldn't it be the same as a script if implemented in a browser extension like BPIP? BPIP can store the data in a database for sorting, etc. Title: Re: [Ninja solved] Add new trust type - private? As a dbase developer I know this won't be difficult, but I have no clue about Theymos' custom programming. I suggest Private - Visible only by you. Does not affect ratings. As you said, it is not a script, but what would be the point of it having a private trust list? When someone doesn't trust someone, they won't be traded with personally, so a username might be enough to recognize past interactions, at least for me (I don't know about others). ::) These users are primarily newbies, if that's the case then you can tell them "They missed their shot with their present account, better try again in future after earning some trust, merits, and possibly rank with a new account" If only I could go back in time to when Bitcoin was $1 to get a Donator tag. :( You won't get the donator tag now even if you get to that 1$ mark, it's unavailable to Donate now since the forum's treasury has enough, rip I guess :-\ We can, however, create a poll to get a custom tag for you for creating Bpip. Did you buy the domain when it expired from someone, or was it something else??? I remember something happened regarding the domain, but the details are vague. Title: Re: [Ninja solved] Add new trust type - private? (not a script) Post by: Stalker22 on January 19, 2025, 08:07:45 PM I think this would be a good addition to the forum. I dont know if there have been similar suggestions before and what theymos's stance is on it. I know there is already a script that has a similar purpose, but a custom script has a lot of drawbacks. First, the compatibility problem between different browsers. I dont know if it is even possible to set up custom scripts on all mobile browsers, for example. Second, the script stores data locally so it is difficult to have a consistent experience across devices. I believe many of us use more than one device to browse the forum.

Chrome and other Chromium mobile browsers don't have features to add extensions. Edge is currently doing it, though, but it is not yet open to all extensions, just chosen ones. And yes, many users use different devices. Thus, some have a mobile version of them (as a user), so locally stored data will only exist on those browsers, say on a desktop and not on mobile.Title: Re: [Ninja solved] Add new trust type - private? Two excellent points for this to be server side, but we know that will not happen. :/ We can, however, create a poll to get a custom tag for you for creating Bpip. Tried that a while ago before the admin bias was well known. I'm content with everyone knowing I created it before I was attacked and had a stroke. |
