The increase of crime has become the order of the day, citizens no longer has peace of mind, harm robbering, kidnapping, fraud and many more has become a dayly routine.

People are no longer scared of the penalty if been caught involved in crime.
This has given me so much concern and worries about it all. However, there could be a remedy or possible ways in which the rate of crime can be reduced or perhaps stopped completely in our society.

Your suggestions and view on this matter can be a savior to our society, thank you.

possible way of stopping crime? that is not even realistic on its own. crime has been right from time and as long as human reaction to things differs and the gap between the poor and the rich is the way it is, people will always resort to committing crime as either an exit from poverty or a way of punishing those that have gotten access to the major resources the populace are supposed to be entitled to.

if you are considering things that can help reduce crime, then we can list a handful of the like.
1.  improving on our security architecture. no criminal wants to be court and none of them wants to operate in zones where the chances of being caught is high, if the government can tighten on security systems and ensure that any criminal that is caught is punished publicly so others can see their potential end if they follow that part, it will discourage others from going into criminal minded activity.
2. creating jobs for youth and doing proper sensitization on the need to distance oneself from criminal gang.
3. refusing to be used by politician who have become the major sponsors of most criminals we have in the society.
4. and refusing to be a criminal yourself because you are part of the society and might even be a criminal in certain context.

There's no way to stop crime, the only possible way is if there's no human creature live in this world, the world will be better and crime will never happen.

It's not always about poor and rich, if everyone have the same financial, there will be a crime too, which is rape. Rape will always exist regardless your gender, your financial status, your face etc, even men mostly cheat with women who look uglier than their own partners.

Make everything legal. Result: no more crimes. Problem solved.

But in reality, when you strip away support nets and possibility to provide, there are only so many options left. And if on top of that wealth inequality rises, attitudes towards criminal way of life starts to change.

That road, while might be beneficial, is dangerously volatile. It soon stops being about just providing your family with criminal actions. It will becomes a job like any other job, and some of these jobs grow to enterprises. And morals people might have at the start, might blur very soon, as it's often more profitable when you don't have morals. Just like with other legit jobs.

To fight crime successfully, we need transparency, accountability, regulations. Ironically not many of these are beneficial to some business men, so they are often are lobbing against such things. And while doing that, contributing to growing crime stats.

You could take a look on strategies being used in countries like El Salvador, in which there have been many government led crack downs against organized crime and gangs. It is about being tough on crime and at the same time creating opportunities for the youth to thrive in their own societies without having to resort to breaking the law.
Those are the kinda of attitudes which are being taken by the government of El Salvador and since they decided to go against gangs in a very aggressive way, crime rate in El Salvador has significantly decreased, hence the big popularity of Bukele among the people of his country, he does not want to walk around the streets of his country surrounded by bodyguards, he wants the streets to be free from violence.

First there must be a willingness by the government to combat and reduce crime. In my country some conflict and other criminal activities are sponsored by people in the government. Some of these politicians make money from security budget.

Second, law enforcement agencies like the police should have access to modern technology that would help them in tackling criminal activities. Staff of these agencies should be well trained, highly remuneration and posses high level of intergrity.

I have also observed that one of the reason why some developed nations have succeeded in reducing crime is surveillance. Almost all the streets have CCTV cameras which will aid the identification of suspects.

The willingness of government to spread their wins is the start of reduction of corruption because every country is too wild for the federal government to cover, so with the extension of helping hands by bringing the tools people who will fight them will use because the police force cannot do it alone, so they will also need to form a group from the locals maybe in a form of vigilante because those people can go were police may not be willing to go, though technology is very important because with enough of it they would be traveling even inside the forest to fish out the hoodlums and also providing the military force their position and how they would counter their attack against them.

Your point is true. A government that operates a centralized police structure always have problems. Policing should be decentralized because locals have better knowledge of their terrain than any alien. The is a need to have state and even local government security systems.

Local vigilante is not a bad idea especially if it is under the control of the government. Their activities should be monitored because in most cases they tend to misuse their power. Some of them because tools in the hands of greedy politicians and they also engage in extra-judicial killings.

By creating religious values, people can develop the right understanding. If you can educate children in religious education from an early age it will be easier for them to differentiate between good and bad deeds and the best medium for this is the family or school. Family breakdown throughout the world leads to social degradation and gradually crime spreads like cancer at the state level.

Prevention is more valuable than cure.

The best way to stop crime is to stop committing crimes yourselves. By the way that most of you act around here, I suspect that quite a few of you chlurcmklets are criminals.

The only way to slow crime down is for people to hear and understand, "Jesus Christ and Him crucified for your sins so that you can have eternal life." Then, direct the listeners towards the Bible New Testament so they can read and come to believe in Jesus, and start to do what Jesus asks them to do.

Coordination with the government is going to help these crimes reduce. Since they are the ones that are protecting people and trying to maintain peace and order. Without their presence and initiative, people will look at it that they're being respected. But if an area is becoming lawless, then that's it. There's no peace and order and the government doesn't really care at all and people will look at it as they're forgotten and so, they will just do things that they think is fine to do since there is no law enforcement. So, coordination and implementing government rules and policies will help but for some extreme areas, it's all about the people.

What you said is very helpful to reduce crime but it's mainly in theory because I've seen countless preachers of Jesus Christ, who scam people with fake miracles and prosperity gospel to steal from them. You don't need to become a Christian to avoid crime, it has to be a personal decision whether you're a religious person or not. Every religion that I know teaches against crime but in reality crime keeps increasing everyday so it shows that it can't be totally stopped by any means.

Crimes can however be minimized in any society where there is prosperity and proactive leaders with empathy for the needs of the ordinary citizens. Except for some individuals who have criminality in their DNA and those that are lazy to do legitimate work, most people go into crime due to lack and frustrations, if there's a better option for them to prosper they wouldn't go into crime.

Dr. Joseph, we have had different views on many issues, but I totally agree with your solution. The change we want in our society should start with us. We have to stop committing crimes and also assist law enforcement agents in performing their tasks. We should give them vital information about our observations or experiences to help them tackle crime.

This is a public forum, which means anybody could join. Indeed, some people with negative intentions might also be here. But we have lots of trusted members that have proved that they are not criminals.   

I don't think there is any remedy to stopping or eradicating crimes in our society.
There will definitely be some bad eggs among us even if everything in the world is made free to all. One of the solution I can probably suggest needs to come/start with us as individuals. Just like you @OP, you've been able to identify that crimes like these needs to be stopped, which is definitely a change from your part as a human, and the only way to help the society is to get something doing to also help yourself. If you have a job doing, you won't think of stealing from someone across the street. This also applies to everyone, so number one solution must come from us as individuals, because we all make up the society.

And the other solution must come from the government. Truth is, if the government is actually sincere, and puts the right things in place for the citizens, life would be a bit better for those working, which will definitely reduce crime rates. But as it stands,.we don't see much these days, which has also contributed to the hardship some working class are facing. But that should never be an excuse because the government started failing the people very long time ago.

Crime is part of human nature, and human wants cannot be satisfied. This was why we have the law and law enforcement agencies to reduce. Mounting of CCTV cameras on the streets has helped in combating crime rates in the city because no one wants to commit a crime and be identified immediately. It doesn't make sense that way. Op from your narration you did not give a specific country or where this particular crime is happening, so I'm left to think that whatever that is happening is happening in your own country.

However in every society, there always a way to fight crime, the crime that is difficult to fight, is organized crime, which always involved those in authority in connivance with a group of few persons. But for the kind of crime and criminality you're talking about, is basically about Street gangsterism, and over the years, we've studied that most of this persons who commit this crimes are young people that are vibrant who don't have any job doing,
So in helping to fight crime, one of the basic things that government do is to look for a way to bring those young ones out of the street, and make them gainfully employed so they could have less distraction, because hence they are gainfully employed, they start breeding their own family, thereby making them to be focus on their jobs and providing for their family because thats the number one responsibility they have at hand. So the government and civil society has a responsibility of engaging the young ones by pulling them out of the street using various methods.

In order to stop crime, there are two things the state needs to do and they can overcome the growing number of crimes in a very effective way. We need to determine the root cause as why the crime occurs and how to prevent it from happening. Here are the two most important things.

1) Give more and equal opportunity to the people to grow and prosper in life. Once people have legal source of income, they won't go for the wrong way to gain money or involve in crimes.

2) Those who commit crimes, needs to give a strict punishment. Once we give punishments, other people will have fear and they will think twice before committing crimes.

The childhood of every individuals is essential on the development of their character and its consolidation in adulthood. If people were more loved, cared and educated since an early age we would see the criminal rates decreasing in our society.

However, what we see is just a consequence of bad parenthood. Parents who didn't care about their children and who neglected their needs. The society we have now is an effect of the previous generations' failures.

Involvement with crimes means the individual doesn't have any consideration for others around, ethics or morals. He is a saboteur attempting to destroy a society from inside. Hard to remediate this situation, therefore much more advisable to work preventively educating the young ones.

To be sincere, people are really suffering right now than it has ever been in the history of the world. The scarcity of food, jobs, and good health care services is worsening with each given day.

When people have gone to the extreme in any condition or situation next thing they resort to is towards any available means of survival and that's why you see there are some people who don't care if they get caught in the act of committing crime or not because they feel that the situation they are into is even worse than what will befall them if they're caught in the crime of trying to survive.

I think the government would need to do more than they are doing, humans in general should be more kinder than they have ever being by extending a hand of help to those really in need because nowadays is like people do favours only to people they know they can get something in return from than doing it for charity.

There are possible means which we can tackle crime in our society,i think to eradicate crime totally government need to come in by putting some modalities in place like providing good working environment for children at the early age and youth so that they can keep their self busy or engage rather than been idle,I was made to understand that an idle man is a devil workshop,so i plea with a meaningful citizen to cooperate with the government so that we can achieve our aim by avoiding crime and go for better things to do with our life.

It is not possible to completely eliminate crime from society; rather, crime will remain in the world. However, it is possible to reduce crime to some extent through the rule of law and creating values among people. However, if the country's state laws are strict, then it is possible to reduce crime to a large extent. In that case, the people of the country must make every effort to obey the law.

That will not stop crime, crime can never be stopped. Imagine if it is stopped then what will be the work of the police and other department. We only can reduce the rate of crime, not in the hands of the government because like they say charity begins at home. Most of the children who engage in crime got their first experience from who raised them, a violent family will lead to a crime child.

I don't think anyone really hit the nail on the head except BADecker who suggest remodeling our lives around the life of Jesus. A philosophy and culture of crime leads to a life of crime. A philosophy and culture of peace leads to a life of peace. The places in this world with low crime have philosophies of stability because of the respect for other people's property rights. In Singapore, there is the respect of the law of man. In Japan, there is the respect for the law of man and the forces of the spiritual realm to some extent. In the USA there was the respect of the law of man and Jesus, though that has faded away leading to much higher crime.

People with respectful philosophies will have respectable lives. People with disrespectful philosophies will be disrespectful thieves, fraudsters, and criminals. Living by example while spreading messages of morality and ethics are the solution. Mankind has an evil nature but it can be overcome by proper training and focus on virtue and value.

There has been a shift to faith away from personal responsibility and the spiritual realm towards government to solve problems, which is utter nonsense. Government is alleged to be "the people". So people attempt to delegate away all their problems to anyone else but them the government, but it is supposed to be them solving the problem because they are the government in a democratic model of society of "we the people". If something is going wrong, it is YOUR fault! You are to be a world leader. YOU are to solve societies problems. Personal responsibility does prove correct as a foundation of society. Trump is not the world leader. You are the world leader. Trump is a follower. You are a leader. Voting isn't even a start to solving your problems... its an opinion poll as a minor tactic in decision making.

Most people don't put a single minute into most of their day to consider their philosophy, especially spiritual philosophy whether that be Christianity or any other one. There is your problem and solution.

It won't be easy to just stop crime; it's a gradual process. But at least you can reduce it to a minimum. And I see it in two ways.

One is through family, society, the church, people worship, actually teaching them what humanity is like. If everywhere you go, your home is not broken, they teach how to love, they teach how not to be violent, they check up on you. You go to church, same thing; your pastor, everybody cares about you, everybody is giving you positive energy. The society is positive, like social gatherings are positive. Then people don't think about crime. So it starts from the home, the home being the smallest unit of the community, raising kids to be right. In homes where it's broken, you can do whatever you want.  Criminals come from home.

Second one is the law agencies, and the government being strict on their laws. You see a lot of people committing crime because they can get away with it. They commit crime because they have money, they pay their way through, and all of that. That's why people are not scared of the law anymore, because they can buy their way through it. So what do you expect? if the law stays true to the words that everyone is equal, if you commit crime, you pay dearly for it. Then people will reduce the crime rate. If we start with this, we can head somewhere positive

We can try top put in efforts to stop crime by encouraging for a standard living, when every amenities, economy growth, employment and all that is needed to enjoy a healthy living has been provisioned by the government and they also encouraged the people through public sensitizations about what is expected of them, but when the leaders are corrupt and we are having a poor administration from them, things may not work out as we want, because the youth will mostly be concerned about how they could afford a living by all means and crime will not be a threat to them to take up.

In America, perhaps immigration and the mixing of different races can lead to an increase in crime, but in my country, Bangladesh, there are hundreds of reasons for the increase in crime. It is believed that in our country, corruption and crime are the most prevalent due to political reasons. If there is no instability among the political parties in our country, crime will decrease to a large extent.

Honestly this issues of the crime has be coming so annoying this days, and our leaders way suppose take the action they just over look everything that’s why the issues of the crime are increasing every blessing; that’s why even the number kidnapping are much higher.

Possible way to stop crime may differ from country to country and from region to region. This is because country's problem differ from each other. Can compare the causes of crime in the united state with causes of crime in Africa. Crime in most African countries are causes by unemployment or underemployment. So creating jobs for the youth alone may go a long way to reduce crime there.

Criminality does not have tribe, race or tradition. It is usually an individual decision which can be orchestrated by a group of individuals with likeminds. It is usually a decision taken by such people to deliberately take people off their own stuffs and comfort. Most of the time, the rate of crime in a given society is most at times attributed to the quality of leadership faced by such country or location.

A country that have strict laws and repercussions for criminals like China tend to experience lower amount of crime rate especially within the government coffers despite their large people of indigenes and immigrants. The government of such country or society also needs to work on the standards of living of its people across all boards as they work towards minimizing government related crimes to the bearest minimum.


Fair enough, immigration have equally contributed to the increased crime rate in the US and Europe, particularly those immigrants who come into the country illegally and are undocumented, some claimed that it has influenced the amount of localized increase in the crime rate, however it is not necessarily caused by the immigration itself directly, rather it's indirectly caused by Socio-economic factors such as lack of basic amenities, shelter, food and clothing often experienced by the illegal and undocumented immigrants.

As a result, it can degenerate to crime but they've also been claims that immigrants especially the undocumented ones who are usually at a higher risk of committing crime have tend to commit such criminal acts at a much lower level than the natives.

No Government can stop crime, crime can only be reduce to the lowest minimal. Because some crimes are hiding while some are open crimes. So it's will be hard to stop but can be reduced. By way of strengthening the economy of a country, provide jobs, create business opportunities, provide good security for investment and engaging the youths.  Because lack of strong economy, high rate of unemployment, insecurity and lack of opportunities are the index of crime society.  The government must try their best to do what's right.

In practical terms "stopping crime" means the crime rate in a country or in a determinate population becomes so slow that it is neglectable in the eyes or perception of most of the people living in such community. it does not mean literally stopping all crime 100%.
There have been historial precedents of societies where crime rate was very low and police did not need to be heavily funded or armed, in order to keep peace and make people feel safe. Nordic countries are a good example of it, I think, perhaps before they allowed massive immigration to happen in their metropolises.
I can only dream about having a city as safe as those in countries like Denmark, Sweden or Norway, where crime is negleable when compared to the atrocities one sees in south America go unpunished.

Crime can only be regulated but cannot be stopped completely. Just like you’ve said, as long as the human creature continues to exist, it’s likely impossible for that to happen. The crime rate in every country is been fought for and those that are fighting it will always vow to eradicate them but the end of the day we’ll resort to such. Crime is a disease to every sane society but it is likely that we can never have such an 100% environment free from crime. The processes are long and cannot be subdued for now.

The bitter truth is that there has always been crime, and there will always be crime. The crime rate can only be reduced, but you can't eradicate it. The government and security agencies can only implement tight security measures, which can impose fear on people, but there are still those who will commit crimes no matter what. Even if there are job opportunities to keep them busy, crime has just been enacted into the DNA of some people; you can't get it out of them.

You talked about the government providing tight security, yes they can do that and have been doing that but we shouldn't forget that even in the places where law and order are coming from we still have bad eggs, crime do happen with the government. They try to change things that are wrong to be right but still the bad ones are still there making it hard to stop, weather crime or whatever it might be. Is never easy to stop something that is there before we were created is like good and evil, foe me I'd say ww can't stop crime.

In most developed countries the rate of crime is not as much as some underdeveloped countries. It is certain for a fact that crime cannot be totally eliminated or eradicated totally from human race because crime has existed since time immemorial. But crime can be curbed or reduced to a certain level that humans can live comfortably with a certain level of peace and serenity I'm their houses.
If the government can increase job opportunities, social amenities and social security to provide a level of comfortability crime will be curbed abit. Make life easy for the citizens of a country and people will think less of crimes in the society at large.

I agree with you. Crime can only be tamed but cannot have eradicated. And it is true that crime exists in every society only that every society has their ways towards responding to criminality as much as the patterns in which such criminal acts are carried out also differs. While I'm not trying by any means to justify criminal acts, I can guarantee that it's part and parcel of any human existence. This is what brings about hypocracy and other forms of injustice. While there are individuals who are genuine and trustworthy, some people are wired to become criminals either from their family or growing up in an environment that breeds criminality. An example can be seen in most shanties around the world.


Institutions are built by people who come together to form administrations. An administration is a process of managing individuals in a given environment, being it a country, a state or a local government. It also includes managing their resources amongst other things. Since this will involve more than a person, you cannot vouch for other people's character as much as you can vouch for yourself. The moment you have bad eggs like you called them within the system, they begin to propagate the idea of spreading corruption through different forms including criminality. One of the outcome of the Inflation is that it results in an increase in the number of crimes. This is a complex theory and hence most people don't realize it. When you have low purchasing power, you would want to snatch other people's wealth and this will result in people involving in the crimes and all these illegal stuff. When people struggle to afford basic necessities of life like food, place to live, and healthcare, some may turn to illegal activities (e.g., theft, robbery, or fraud) to make their ends meet.

More job and earning opportunities may help in lowering the crime rate too. Interesting, Isn't  ::)

However, it may not be possible to reduce crime 100%, but it is possible to reduce the amount of crime to a large extent. It is possible to reduce crime in a country to a great extent, especially by creating an educated generation. It is also possible to reduce a country's crime rate by providing systematic punishment against drug addicts, drug addiction, gambling, and terrorism.

If the bad eggs are in a well organized system you'd see them disagreeing with 80% of the right decisions that are made to make the society grow healthy. These set of people are the cause of why we have so many political parties in different countries, the lack of unity is another reason why crime is so difficult to stop, you'd see people putting effort to stop the bad ones and you'd see things going against your plans and you wonder how or why are all these things happening. It would be very hard to stop crime if we can't eliminate the ones who go against our efforts, the law and order that are there some try as much as they can to change it so it will favor them and hide their bad deeds.

Abundance of money also leads to crime, according to Trump, when he stopped all nations from buying oil from Iran they didn't cause any form of war or fund their nuclear weapon program. Everything requires sponsorship and money to run including robbery, theft etc. The problem on the executors of the crime is joblessness and lack of money, but without any helping hands in the purchase of weapons they wouldn't have any option. However, to reduce such problems job opportunities are needed to keep the people's mind busy and away from greed.

Crimes like fraud, murder, kidnapping, etc. are increasing now. People are not afraid of committing all these crimes even though they have the best possible punishment system and punishment is given for all these crimes, even death penalty is given, even then people are not afraid of committing all these crimes, fraud, murder, kidnapping, they are doing all these things without any hesitation. However, to stop all these crimes, fraud, the government has to take a strict stand and every family has to be strict. If the family, society and the government take a strict stand, then all these fraud crimes can be reduced.

It is necessary to create national squads, go and beat criminals. It's better to shoot them.

Crime remain difficult to stop especially in some country where their leaders are the top crime doers. Leaders are to lead by examples. Imagine country where leaders are found in most corrupt practices, then what do you expect of their citizens. If crime is to be stopped, great measures and punishment should start from our leaders. Placing a crime wavier on leader most times by manipulating the law help to increase crime rate.

One of the things that contributes to the increase of crime is hunger and lack of jobs, when people are are hungry and have no jobs that can generates income and also keeps them to be busy, what comes to their mind is crime. The government has so much roles to plat to reduce the level of crime in the environment. I know even if the government provides everything, there will still be some persons who sees crime as a lifestyle but the government providing what the people want will surely reduce the rate of crime in the society.  In the societies where government are able to provide the basic things, crime rates are on the increase.

Your idea is good to consider but remember that what is in you is in you no matter what you do to stop it, it only takes one who is determine to stop crime that can use what the government are bringing to hold themselves but aside from that is not happening. Mate you just hike the nail, a country where leaders are in court everyday for fraud cases what do you expect from  the jobless youths to do.crime will b their only option since the leaders they supposed to learn from are also into crime. It will be very hard to  stop crime.  However, we should sty away from crime regardless of our the leaders misbehave.  Because the law only favour rich citizens, the poor will end up in prison.  When the rich commit crime they will lobby out their ways while the poor will suffer in prison. 

We must find a way to learn a skills to survive instead of indulging in crime. Do not commit crime regardless of th excuse, at the end you will face the law and end up prison.

To eliminate crime altogether may be difficult, but to reduce or prevent it can still be done. If from the government, it may be able to enforce the right law, it can be done by tightening regulations or increasing security with routine patrols carried out by the police. At least that can limit criminals from committing acts that violate the law.

In addition, from each of us, we can be more alert to the surrounding situation. Such as increasing home security, being more careful about getting to know people, especially those who are new to us, and if you already know or experience a crime, you can immediately report the crime so that it does not spread and can have a deterrent effect.

However, the government can help reduce crime by treating the citizens fairly. Many youths who are involved in crime are actually good people who got frustrated by the government's constant negligence. Some had good ambitions in life, but the means of fulfilling their dreams were not made available by the government so they decided to take laws into their hands.

Let the government start by creating jobs and giving out incentives to motivate young people to be creative. I bet you, lots of young people would not bow to peer pressure to commit crimes when they themselves are busy with their lives.  If we get less crimes, then it's manageable.

I was actually looking for something that might be similar to what I have to say.
You see, when it comes to security and insecurity, the side with more influence, money and power has enough to dedicate. Fine, I agree that the locals can get themselves involve as well, but even if the local choose to be appointed in the form of a local police force, let's not forget that those who feel that they are above the law can ignite a case of insecurity, and get away with it. Personally, I don't like the supposed vigilantes, because of my personal experience. Some of these people are not always qualified. They go through 2-3 months training, and you expect them to perform well like a police officer who went to a police Academy. The horrible side of it is when these vigilantes are given the license to operate fire arms while on duty.

My only solution at this point will be tied to the government mostly.
Create quality jobs, at least remove so many people from the street.
And just like someone replied, equipped the police force with better policing equipment and knowledge, and also add surveillance equipment as well.
Truth is, all these things are not difficult to do, because I believe their is something we call security allowance, that every state receives in every month. Work like this is never left for the federal level to take care of, but it involves both the state and local level, as they are also part of the government.

However, not all police officers had to attend the police college before being admitted into the police force. Most of them were just recruited and given a 3 to 4 months training, that's if it's up to that duration, but I know they do get orientations time to time. And the same applies to the local vigilantes in their recruitment process for qualification.

Another factor that plays a high role in increased crime rate is poverty, many persons are so impoverished that they'll do anything to reduce the bitter pangs of poverty. Poverty and unemployment go hand in hand and a reduction in unemployment will definitely reduce poverty which will in turn reduce the high rate of crime in the society. Another factor to consider is the sensitisation of the youths to avoid anything that looks like crime. Though crime can not be totally eradicated from the society to it can be greatly reduced to a point of almost invisibility.

Yes, it's good to learn sef defense like learning how to fight karate and having a pistol everywhere you go so that you don't get robbed easily. The only way the government can reduce crime rate is to provide adequate jobs for the people so that no one would come to complain that they don't have a job. In this case, the government uses law and order forces to achieve its party goals Speaking from my practical experience, where the law enforcement forces will ensure the rights of the people of the country, but on the other hand, these law enforcement forces, especially the police, behave inhumanely on the people. The police forces are harassing people at every step Along with the police force, some youth gangs and various gangs are formed who threaten the right of the common people to live, making their lives very difficult.

The current day government led a roguish and uncertain existence. These are people in power, having zero respect for the rule of lawz and these laws affects the common man. Social vices are the orders of the day in our present society, what must be done to prevent, rather reduce these vices? Job creation that will be available for the common because idle man is the Devils workshop. The lsck of Job is the min reason why people are going into crime. In my perspective, it is never possible to permanently reduce crime by using only the law enforcement force. Particularly why do people commit crimes? If a good solution is found to this question, then people can move away from committing crimes to a great extent. In most cases, a person gets involved in ordinary crimes because he does not have a suitable source of income. When he goes through poverty, no kind of sociality or moral education is of any use to him. They go beyond the ethics and do all those criminal activities. If employment opportunities can be created for those people, then the crime rate can be reduced to a great extent. Moreover, in the present time, some people work recklessly due to drug addiction and if they can be removed from those places of addiction, then it is possible to reduce the crime incidents.

Schools, colleges, and universities are said to be the factories that build the backbone of a nation. Especially from here, the future of the nation will produce valuable students who will lead a country forward on the path of prosperity. But if criminal activities are taking place on that campus itself, it is incomprehensible how much a nation can prevent crime.

Nothing is permanent in this world, if all the governments want to end crime in the whole world, they have the power to do that because they know what to do to make people not to think of crime in their various countries. The fact that people are unemployed they become poor and anyone who is poor always try to devise means for survival and most of the times these people resort to crime as a ticket for survival. I always tell people that "poverty and crime" are different sides of a coin. To stop crime, people must be gainfully employed. A person who is working will not think of committing crime because he is always busy with his job and so there is no time to even consider doing something bad. To involve in crime, so many things will be considered and at the end the person may not involve in crime especially when he considers the possibility of losing his job and tarnishing his reputation if he is caught. Most persons who involve in crime have no image to protect since it is belief that a poor person has no pedigree.

Deprivation too can trigger frustration and force people to involve in crime. This is common in countries where their citizens do not benefit from the natural resources in their land. When people feel that they are suppose to get a fair share from their resources but do not get, then they will devise means on how to get a fair share and this means is always criminal and illegal. Thus, to stop crime people should get a fair share of whatever they deserve. Giving people what they due can go a long way in preventing crime.

Maybe in America, crime may increase because of immigration, but in my country, Bangladesh, there is no immigration, yet criminal activities are constantly increasing. There may be some educational reasons why an educated person would question his conscience before ever engaging in criminal activities, but an uneducated person does not feel the need to think before committing a criminal act. Criminal activities are more prevalent in countries where there is a lack of education.

Yes, it is true that in countries where the education rate is low, there is more criminal activity. In developed countries, this type of criminal activity is usually less. Criminal activity is mainly caused by lack of education, poverty, unemployment, social inequality, corruption, and lack of justice, that is, in countries where the legal system and education system are weak, crime is more in those countries. That is why we must first improve our society, improve the education system, and eliminate corruption. Currently, our country is full of corruption, no matter where we go, justice is not available, those who have party power, they oppress everyone, but no one can do anything to them. That is why first of all, the systems of the country must be fixed, only then will crime decrease.

I don't think that it is possible for crime to be totally eradicated from any society or country but it can be drastically reduced if the government and leaders are proactive in dealing with the menace. Firstly what needs to be done is investigate the root causes of crime in a country or community, if the root causes are determined it will be easier to find a lasting solution to curbing it. 2. police cant just arrest someone without witness, proof

6. at 18 they are thrust into the world where everything requires money, but there was not preparation
7. news media, movies and social media make drugs, vandalism, theft and harm seem sexy and fashionable

I think the most effective and powerful step to stop crime is to have religious knowledge and a sense of morality. If a person's life is shaped by the religious precepts of his religion, his conscience is awakened, so he is afraid to commit crime. And people get religious precepts and a sense of morality from their families. Also, some government measures help to keep people away from crime, such as providing adequate employment in the country so that the young generation can be directly engaged in work after completing their education. If they are unemployed after completing their education, it creates despair among them.

And it is out of despair that the young generation gets involved in crime. Still, if someone commits a crime, they should be brought to justice and punished publicly so that people do not dare to commit crime.

If the government of a country is very strict, then it is possible to remedy it. Only if the government of a country takes strict decisions, then it is possible to remedy the various crimes and criminal acts of that country. We have seen in different countries of the world, especially if we look at El Salvador, we can see that El Salvador was full of crimes, but the government has taken strict decisions by keeping the laws of the government in place and they are on the way to free the country from various crimes and offenses through the power of the law. Moreover, if there is an elected government in the country and that government is formed through elections, then the crime in that country will definitely be much less.

Crime has come to such a level that it has now become a routine for criminals. Crime is increasing day by day due to lack of strict punishment for committing crimes. I have seen cases where many boys make very bad comments and harass girls when girls go to school and college.  As a result of which girls now have no security to go to school and college to acquire knowledge. Do you think if strict punishment is imposed on this, everything will come back to the solution.

Harassing students especially female students isn't new and I know that the school authority do punish those caught to be doing that but that has not stopped such incident which brings us back to the ills in the society.

I think the best is to protect yourself against such attack and avoid using lonely routes. Schools have public roads and I'm sure those bad guys don't attack or molest female on those open roads. So the female students should avoid going home late, stay in school when school is on and using open/public roads.

So are you saying that for US to reduce crime they have to lock all the students up?, if I may ask on what reason would they have to lock any student up?, were they caught on the act of any crime or already committed?, actually this solution can even results to more issues because everybody has a right, however if all the students faces such lock up as your solution advice says, what will happen to there educational system, that means all the schools will be closed. Actually to fight a crime you as a leader needs to be very rooted in knowing were the crime is mostly coming from, for instance an item that people usually purchase make them to do things the law is against, so perhaps the stop to such thing is from the roots which is were those things are being manufactured from, so when is being stopped, they have also stop a lot of those using it.

We need to bring back debtor's prisons for anyone who misses or is late for even a single payment on student loan debt. And in these student loan debtor's prisons, the prisoners also need to pay for their incarceration plus any interest that accumulates. And the wages they receive in these student loan prisons should not be enough to cover the cost of their own imprisonment. This means that they need for someone to feel sorry enough for them to pay back their student loans along with the cost of their imprisonment.

Not only in US and Europe that is experiencing increase in crime, people prefer to follow illegal way to achieve what they want without mindful of the danger involve, it can lead them to punishment that will take their life's once they are caught in that illegal business.  Despite some strategies governments have put in place to block all the illegal ways, some people are still risking their lives to disobey the government to carry out illegal duty.

If truly the world want to end crime in the world, all the countries of the world should make death as the punishment for those that will commit crime, it will reduce crime in the world because nobody want to die young.

There are many reasons why a person becomes a criminal, but one of the biggest reasons is because their life becomes too difficult, they are helpless with their current life and have no other way to survive but to become illegal immigrants, thieves...And to significantly reduce crime rates, the government needs to provide more adequate education to its people. Providing jobs nationwide, worldwide, helping people have stable income and life. From there, I am sure the crime rate will drop significantly, not just by increasing penalties.

To solve any problem, we need to find the root cause and fix it, don't think that just applying strong measures can solve it.

Let's be considerate in having each other's in mind, helping on each other and be responsible for them, things will work out for us as we have wanted, because a lot have been into some bad shape all because they lack the appropriate advice needed to help shapens their mentality and incline into the right position, people really needs help, some were there left out without being helped and before you know it, they have constitutes the crime in the society.

That is not going to happen. The best hope for Earth is for humanity to go extinct and be replaced by raccoons or AI or ants or maybe the Chimps can become technological with genetic engineering or something.

More of police and authorities visibility in most areas. This is going to help reduce the crime in those areas that have became lawless.

But these authorities also know that they can't just cover those lawless lands because life is at stake.

They have lesser opportunities and that's why they resort into committing of crime.

So aside from the visibility of these authorities, it's also best to put them into livelihood program that can help them start from somewhere.
