Newbies are better off just reading Bitcoin-related articles off-site to learn.

Bitcointalk is great, but its greatness is mostly for healthy, interesting discussions — not necessarily for beginner learning content.

Be more actively with your reading and learning as a newbie. You don't need to be too actively with posting in any board while you are learning here.

Read and learn, self restrict your posting and only post when you have something to ask or contribute. Don't post because you want to be active or just want to get merit. This posting style will make your account is like a spammer account and spamming is discouraged in the forum.

all the boards of the forum has there own way of adding to the knowledge that newbies need to give them a better understanding of bitcoin. the bitcoin discussion board has a lot of bitcoin related topics but they are not really centered at educating newbies. you need some level of knowledge for you to participate in some of those discussion which is why the beginners and help board is still the best start from most newbies and along the line you can easily transition to engaging in a more advanced topics which are mostly posted on the bitcoin discussion board.

anyone that is really eager to learn and become knowledgeable about bitcoin has to do the following apart from from just reading threads from different board in the forum. you have to identify what you want to learn, research on it off and off the forum and if there are things you cant understand alone and need some insight from a more experience person, you can then ask question that will give you better insight. from the perspective of a learner, what you should do more is ask question and read threads that gives answers to bitcoin related question so you get multiple answers that keeps you informed as an investor.

If complete newbies started there, they would soon say "dafuq" and leave the forum.

How much time should a beginner spend on Bitcoin discussion boards each week to build a solid understanding of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies without feeling overwhelmed?

I have been around all permit able boards in the forum and had never find any section with bitcoin discussions that less important to myself.
I was only sticked to more readings than posting as a newbie to I can acquire an intensive knowledges that would guide my path towards my goals.
I read both in bitcointalk platform and also outside the forum with every conciousness not just to get convinced by a particular source but to understand the how realistic the articles maybe in the bitcoin industry.
Being a healthy bitcoin user is not just about the focus on bitcoin discussions but as well economy and society discussions because there as well will detail you about the effects of global economy+society to how affects bitcoin.

Everyone knows that newbies should be active in forums, especially in Bitcoin discussion boards, so I don't think it's necessary to discuss it here, even if you really want to, it's better in the Beginners board I think. Because if you make a post like that here, then it looks like "Spam" and just wants to add the number of posts without discussing anything related to Bitcoin (not discussing the Bitcoin discussion board). So if you have the latest information about Bitcoin, you can open a thread here, make sure the title does not overwrite the existing title or existing discussion, then we will discuss it here.

Yeah ;D. Considering that the OP registered in 2023 and, during that time, disappeared from the forum for several months several times already, his lessons do not coincide with his life at all. Or are you, OP, teaching  how not to be like you? In all other respects, you should come to the forum not as to work, but as to a place where you are interested. It is interesting to read, interesting to communicate, thereby gaining some knowledge about Bitcoin and experience from other users. The forum is not a school and not an obligation, but unfortunately, some are too "zealous," and the appearance of such topics causes a misunderstanding of their necessity.

The average person in the forum or outside in general talks about Bitcoin as the best investment step and this is in line with the current facts and Bitcoin itself has gained a much faster place for any group. It is natural when people study harder to gain knowledge in bitcoin because in that way we understand much more about the procedures in running the right investment.

When someone learns to understand bitcoin, it will be much easier to approach buying because the most difficult thing is not when selling but the right accumulation pattern by using the limited capital owned by people.

It is not about being active alone, is an active person spending much time online really achieving something from being online, is learning taking place throughout his stay or he's just busy scrolling on the taps and navigating on the boards, the major thing must not be left out, which is the incidence of learning, this will be of the most ultimate use of being active, we have to start by reading, in doing this, we are opened to a vast numbers of learning opportunities from different boards and not only on bitcoin discussion, which will increase our knowledge about bitcoin, the forum and the general crypto.

Everything depends on the level of your understanding but if you ask me, I think you don't need a particular time to understand things on the Bitcoin discussion rather your activeness and your determination to learn, read and understand the things you read daily determines how much time it will take you to be able to know how to communicate effectively on the discussions on the board. There are other boards in the forum you should also visit so as to have a broad knowledge of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrency all you need is to always stay active and pay attention to the informations you see here by doing just that you will learn and become a good forum user and your understanding will be enlightened also.

Someone who joins without knowing what's Bitcoin will be having hard time engaging in any discussions, so better off just read the contents that replying. B&H section is good too where the queries can be responded early of specific things.

Some of the questions that will give an idea are

What is a blockchain?
What is decentralisation?
What is a Bitcoin wallet
What is public and private keys?
Difference between pow and pos technology.

Be more active in learning, reading or posting in Bitcoin discussion board, which one of them do you mean? Newbies that are still very new to the industry and without knowledge of Bitcoin has no business posting in that board to avoid spamming or plagarism, they only owe it to themselves to read and learn in that board. Your advice to newbies is a good one but be more specific on how they should be active in Bitcoin discussion board so as not to mislead anyone, Newbies without any knowledge about Bitcoin has nothing to contribute in that board.

For me, a newbie who wants to learn in the forum will not only focus on the bitcoin discussion board.

There is a lot to learn in different boards on the forum, and while it is advisable not make comments in boards where you have little understanding, reading through topics in those boards can help a lot, it helped me, and I am sure some other people too.

Why?

It is a Bitcoin forum and if a newbie joined this forum to learn about Bitcoin, the most helpful board is Bitcoin discussion board. I am aware of other boards for Bitcoin, and they are for technical discussions and supports, but there is enough time for a newbie to learn and know about those technical boards.

Before they know existence of technical boards, they can make their threads or posts in Bitcoin discussion board without any big problem. If their threads belong to technical boards, forum moderators will move those threads to technical boards. This will give chance for a newbie to know and learn why their threads were moved to Technical boards.

Later they can create threads for technical questions in Technical boards.

Maybe beginners and help will also help but being in this forum I think Bitcoin discussion section is the best one too. Other boards will follow when the users are able to know some of the details and knowledge he supposef to learn.

Going outside is good maybe in few months they can engage and learn some on other heaby boards about bitcoin.

What's OP's definition of active though? If it's simply reading I guess I agree with that, especially reading the pinned threads. Those are very important if you don't know the basics of Bitcoin or crypto in general. If we involve making new threads or posts, I don't think that's a good choice. It's very easy to post spam comments especially if you're new to everything, including the forum unofficial guide. Spending your time reading pinned threads on Meta and Bitcoin boards is probably much better if that's what you plan to do.

When I was a newbie I spent most of my time reading the unofficial forum guide instead of lurking around the Bitcoin board. Even this board is probably a much better start for beginners.

Active in what form? If writing hell no but it’s best you read more often for clear understanding. A total newbie ready to learn about bitcoin either any field the bitcoin discussion board will be of help also beginners and help, I mentioned field because the forum is broad with different kind of board still talking about bitcoin for example speculation mostly talk about the price, trading board etc. The purpose of joining the forum can tell what suit you right and the gambling section is all about gambling activity as the name implies.

As a newcomer in Bitcoin, being active in the Bitcoin discussion board might not teach you what you need to understand about Bitcoin. Here is mainly for discussion, you might not have or see someone who will be patient enough to explain bitcoin for you in the Bitcoin discussion board. Many people will just assume that you are also an expert in Bitcoin or at least knowledgeable about bitcoin before you will join bitcoin discussion. So it is necessary that you make more steps outside the forum to learn about Bitcoin in details such that when you join the conversation you will not lag behind or the conversation will not sound foreign or boring to you because of your inability comprehend bitcoin.

But if you want to depend much on this forum for your bitcoin learning, it will be fine if you go back to the older threads of the forum.

There is a lot that happens in this Bitcointalk discussion board that I have missed out,most of them are very beneficial to one,so your activeness in the Board is even more important, especially when you are just beginning,there is need for you to always be present here because it is in the process that you know all that's going on.When you are inactive,you are really missing out on most of the activities that are going on in the board.
Your activeness determines how far you can go in this Forum.This is the reason I have decided to always make myself active.

For a newbie to make progress in learning about Bitcoin, he/she should be active in pursuing knowledge. That's regardless of the platform. The online world is abundant of such resources-- ebooks, articles, videos, podcasts, discussions, and so on.

In particular, however, newbies being active means they take time to focus reading, studying, and digesting contents. It shouldn't be contributing, at least not yet. Many newbies here baptize their accounts by opening all kinds of threads right away-- tutorials, advice, compilations, and whatnot.

When you seclude yourself to the bitcoin discussion page only, you’re only segmenting yourself to just one part or let me say some general introduction to what bitcoin is and not in-depth of what it is actually. We have other boards like the mining, technical discussions and technical developments board that helps a lot about other sections of bitcoin you should learn about especially if you want to have technical knowledge of the market. There are a lot of articles online to learn from, here is mostly for discussion but it doesn’t make it a bad place to also learn about bitcoin. Read more and post less and try to put into practice what you’ve learnt to help make what you’ve learnt more understandable to apply in the bitcoin space.

Bitcointalk.org is not necessarily limited to Bitcoin now. As a newbie, you should try to engage in genuine conversations that spike your interest without giving much attention to the title of the board. You have to find a place of your own here, which is impossible without having a genuine curiosity.

From my experience as a newbie, nothing in this forum initially made sense to me. Most of what I knew came from YouTube videos, especially teachings from Andreas M. Antonopoulos. However, the knowledge I gain from this forum broadens my understanding and gives me the opportunity to dive deeper and ask questions when I need clarity.

It is not easy for newbies to fully understand certain aspects of Bitcoin just by following conversations here. Even as a senior member, I still come across information that is new, strange, and sometimes confusing. I continue learning from different sources, and I believe it would be beneficial for newbies to do the same. This way, they can participate in discussions without spamming. At least, they can ensure that the questions they ask are reasonable and useful to both themselves and others who come across them.

I don't think I totally agree with you because as a newbie, you should do more of reading and learning rather than trying to join discussion you know little to nothing about. Growing up, we were advised to do more of listening than talking since we were still learning certain things about life and therefore not in the position of dishing out lessons and wisdom. The same can be said about this forum; a newbie should do more of learning and seeking knowledge and most of the posts should be about asking questions and seeking clarifications unless the individual may be a newbie in the forum but have good knowledge of Bitcoin and cryptocurrency outside the forum.

Theirs no body that is necessary for newbies to be constant reading or posting, because the knowledge of Bitcoin can be acquired outside bitcoin discussion boards, secondly they're some people who newbies in this forum but they are not newbie in cryptocurrency related and bitcoin, they have already know the basic things of bitcoin, so I believe that we need to understand that most of the people discuss in this community doesn't know bitcoin that much, so you can learn bitcoin techniques and blockchain technology outside the forum, it depends on your determination or how curious you are to learn.

Newbie or not, it’s best to stay active in the forum. Not only to gain continuous learning, but to engage with other forum members and create healthy discussions that would benefit one another. However, I would advise  for beginners, you go extra miles and efforts. Have a thorough research outside the forum. Not only to clear your misconceptions, but also to gain other reliable sources other than the forum itself.

The bitcoin discussion board is one board that could help a newbie to build the necessary knowledge about Bitcoin and its relevant discussions as a matter of fact, we should try as much as possible to build at first bitcoin knowledge before heading to other topics of interest a d for that bitcoin discussions is one board that will be the favorite of every newbie and to a great extent when we build that bitcoin knowledge it helps us to adapt quickly to another aspect of cryptocurrency-related topics that could be of utmost importance to all of us.

Buddy you have to be open, the forum itself is also open go read things which you have no knowledge about and learn first before trying to inculcate what you don't have yet.

You are absolutely correct, same way you should know the forum is full of plenty resources, many knowledge can be derived from different boards,  don't limit yourself to anyone, try to be active on as many, but one thing to know you can never do well on every board, as not an experienced user yet so don't jump into those boards trying to fit your knowledge when you know nothing, always subdued to learn first.

But I like those who ask about bitcoin, although good ethics is to learn first, explore the forum to the old board notes or since the existence of this forum, many discussions made by Satoshi and we can read them slowly from there, but there is nothing wrong if you do not have time to research that deeply into the forum, asking also does not eliminate our enthusiasm to continue learning, if you do not like the common questions that are always expressed by new users you can ignore them, it might be better, what needs to be reminded to them is not to create trolls and spam in other people's discussions so that they can discuss regularly.

You are very wrong.  You do not need to be a Bitcoin Guru to earn the right to be active in the Bitcoin Discussions board or to start an interesting conversation that is also contributive to the board.  The main issue with this board is that a lot of newbies come and post replies or start new topics thinking they found the secret of the Universe, only repeating information that is already well known by everybody already.  I have seen many newbies post truly interesting questions and starting curious conversations about Bitcoin.  The key is to not repeat yourself or the basic Bitcoin information you just read.

It is a shame that the Bitcoin Discussion board is only filled with mostly a combination of spam and conversations carried by experienced Bitcoiners.  It would be a much more interesting board if Bitcoin Talkers spent their time there simply because they wanted to.

it is better for newbies to learn first and read a lot compared to getting directly involved in discussions that they only understand a little. because i see many newbies who do not have a good understanding of bitcoin, but give their opinions on one thing, and in the end it is totally wrong, because they do not have enough knowledge about it. just try to read more, and understand, then you can join in the discussion.

As a newbie it's essential for you to read and understand how the Bitcointalk forum works before engaging in any discussions. Because advising newbies that haven't get the basic knowledge about the forum can mislead them into creating unnecessary threads that could lead them into something else. However, it's quite better for a newbie to focus more on beginners & Help board, because that is the right place for a newbie to acquire the basic knowledge first before engaging in any other boards.

It's better for newbies to focus on learning using multiple sources instead of depending on a single source and expecting to become an expert only from one place. This forum, no doubt, is exceptional when it comes to knowledge and discussions about cryptocurrencies and stuff related to them, but that doesn't necessarily make it the only place one should be looking into when they are in their learning phase.

If you are a newbie and you have just learned about Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies and you want to learn more, just use Google and find articles and resources and read them. If you don't like reading much, you can use YouTube to watch informative videos about Bitcoin, its blockchain, how transactions work, how to use wallets, and everything else that you need to know before you get started with anything.

More places means more knowledge, and it also means you won't be learning wrong things since you will be able to verify every information from multiple sources.

How long will they keep learning? People learn in different ways. Some can fully understand by reading quietly and comprehending everything, while others learn better through active participation. I prefer when newbies are actively involved, they deserve visibility too. Nothing stops them from engaging while also learning.

Although I encourage newbies to participate in discussions, I also advise them not to focus solely on the Bitcoin Discussion board. They can learn about Bitcoin from other boards on this forum, as well as from external sources like social media so when they  join discussions here and in the Bitcoin Discussion board, they can contribute meaningfully and stay on topic while learning and unlearning certain things. That’s the purpose of a forum, to share ideas.
