I believe some of us are already familiar with the warning not to flaunt our wealth online because of the dangers it pose. For those that are yet to heed to this advice, maybe this story would help you have a rethink.

An OnlyFan streamer, Amouranth some time last year tweeted about her crypto holdings, which was basically 211.04 BTC and 22.90 ETH.

As a result of displaying her crypto portfolio online, she was robbed at gun point at her home. She got beaten and also suffered some bruises but thank God she fended off the attack. Below is the video footage of the robbery captured by CCTV camera.

What I think is that people are generally very careless and not think of safety first before anything. We all know that bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies should be hidden from public. The reason is because of physical attack. Even online attack is part of it because hackers can be able to target someone they really mean and the person could make mistake which can make the hacker successful.

I also do post about news like but some people will just not listen until they become a victim. I hope the time someone will lose his or her life for his or her crypto holding for letting people know will not come but I doubt this.

There is this feeling of always wanting to show others that we have arrived, so that those people will look highly on us some of the root cause of this is inferiority complex. I don't really see the reason why some people will choose to expose themselves to danger all in the name of ego, the person in questions what was the person thinking. It is not every information about ourselves that we should give out, some people are so accustomed to social media that everything about them is on social media. People should be very careful about the kind of information they give out about themselves in order not to endanger themselves.

Actually its always good to not share any more info regarding your asset or portfolio. With that post of her, I think thats goona be a literally target for bad people. So staying anon and quietly is the best way to keep safe. Yes ite okay to share and motivate others, but always think of your safety regarding this kind of matter.

I’ve always told my closest friends that it’s best to keep a low profile. Anonymity is the best but people will rather show off to feel a temporary sense of superiority. I’ve seen cases similar to this where their accounts get hacked and there wiped off their whole life investments but most will still not learn.

this happens when you are trying to prove a point to the people around you that you are of a particular standard. no one should know what you own in your wallet even if they show you theirs. the mistake some people make is to join in some trend of showcasing how much crypto one ones just for the sake of fun. you might not know the effect until you discover that same people you disclosed your private information to are the very same people that comes after your asset.

I thought this screenshot was to promote Coinbase but anyone who keeps 200 Bitcoins on that platform probably doesn't care about the basics of dealing with Bitcoin and considers it an investment just like stocks and may not even know how to withdraw to the wallet. For beginners, maintaining your privacy is a priority especially if you live in an area with a high crime rate.

To flaunt your asset online could be telling us about many things which I will itemize them here on which one could be the reason for doing that.

1. You're been proud and want to show up yourself.
2. You think by showing others you get more influence from public interest.
3. You're either being ignorant of the consequences of doing that or don't even care at all.

I hope she seeks the authority and blockchain analysis expert for help so she could get back the crypto, but this is enough to serve as a huge lesson for every crypto enthusiast that still practises the idea of flaunting their crypto bag online/offline about the huge danger that's involved.

I saw the news in local newspaper blogger. I don't know how she escaped from the robbery. The last one was when some airdrops were very successful and gave big advantages to airdrop participants. Am sorry for her cause she was beaten badly but she did not do the right thing to show her crypto (Bitcoin) portfolio online. However it is not safe to show a crypto portfolio online even though  it is not yours (cause not everyone would believe you even though you said it's not yours). There are many people online and around us that we do not know and might plan bad things to anyone that shows his or her Bitcoin portfolio to the public and they would do anything just to get what you have on your crypto wallet. Actually I do not open the source which these content came from but I believe many bad guys can do any of these things to their own human just to own what they have because we leave in a world where anything can happen to anyone cause everybody wants the latest things which they can not afford on their own, so they do bad things to others. And the economy is not the actually causes of their brokenness, they just can't hustle and become successful because they are kind of lazy.

In my ideal sense, I prefer keeping my crypto activities diacreet because you don't know who is who in the system. Keeping your crypto assets a secret is a knowledge I believe most persons have got but then in the crypto space we have got some crypto influencer, content creators,  traders and the rest of the Marketing and PR persons who utilise this opportunity to make money from the crypto space,  and because of this niche of their's,  they sometimes have reasons to want to put contents as such for promotional purposes especially.

But even with this tangible excuses,  I believe there's still a way out that you can post materials like that and still protect yourself so you be safe enough.  You don't have to post your actual or original portfolio,  for demonstration purposes you could use demo accounts for traders and for crypto influencer  you can use trading volume,  volatility and market cap to promote projects,  that way you keep you portfolio information to yourself and stay safe without exposing yourself to dangers out there.

I see no reasons for showing off crypto asset , these are asset that are meant to be private because of the how soe people see crypto, exposing it can lead to attacks. Whatever is in your portfolio should be known by only you.

Keep your crypto portfolio is a very crucial privacy we need to keep on to because it is unwise to let the public know how much you are holding. There are hackers that have sophisticated malware that could disrupt our gadgets with just a click. This is one of the ways many hackers use to steal from their victims. This is why we keep seeing exchanges getting hacked because hackers can read the worth of the exchange and the destination of many of their crypto portfolios because it is easy to track. It is definitely not advisable to keep assets on an exchange. There have been quite a few big and well-known exchanges that have been hacked as a valuable lesson to be aware of, unless you are an active trader.
Like to market assets to the public is the same as telling the public to get a loophole for unwanted things to happen.

It's not just exchanges being hacked that is why not advisable to store in an exchange but also it's because you don't have full control of the wallet like the seed phrase or private key of the wallet address where it is deposited in the exchange. It is not the only case where someone got robbed because they know his/her assets so it's really not advisable to show your assets publicly or the person who did it might get robbed once someone who have seen it have bad intention to take the assets by robbing the owner of the assets.

Indeed showing off will only make your life miserable, maybe not now but the threat will always be there. So it’s best to just stay low key and live a simple and calm life. What you said is a pretty good suggestion because everyone who wants to be safe from malicious attacks does not need to show off their personal identity if it is not necessary because sometimes they also use that personal identity in places that we need ourselves for the sake of smooth work. But if it is for the public, it is better to keep it completely secret, especially for things related to assets like Bitcoin, where if the amount is often published, it will make evil souls struggle to hack it.

Keeping millions of dollars in BTC with an exchange known to discriminate against people in her line of work seems like a bad idea. I remember during the altcoin bull market from several years ago Amouranth was promoting all sorts of scam tokens and NFTs, like many influencers. She is known for doing anything for money and attention and she often likes to brag about her wealth to make herself look like a genius investor.

We are seeing an increase in high profile attacks against crypto holders. Earlier this year it was one of Ledger’s founders who was kidnapped. It is important for us to prioritize our privacy and safety, unfortunately many of these internet celebrities lack this common sense.

The exchange hacking incident that we convey to them can be a lesson for beginners. For the advanced level, full control is not obtained by the user because we only hold the login password and address for deposit.
How will we get security and comfort when the assets we buy but we are not the owners. We should be the ones buying the assets, then we are the owners of the assets themselves.

Matter of fact, what if she didn't had that much amount of money in real and if the robbers would have found that out then it would have been terrible for her.

As possible stay low key because there are alot of people can do anything just to have money and we know one of their target before is people who really love flexing their assets and right now on the digital era we are now with the crypto currency ive seen other news that they rob other people and steal their crypto so theres no need to flex your assets for your safety and at the same time is for your funds safety.

Whatever that will show off your wealth or life's  possessions, always chose to keep it in private. No one will be interested to hear about it, unless if you dare to share it or expose it in social media.

But for what reason? Just to flex your achievements in life and let the world know about it? That won't inspire others honestly, but it will only pave way for others to get envy and plan an attack to steal what you have. That's the reality, and that's how mean people would be especially if they have seen your life's improvements more than theirs.

Maybe it would be different if they were influencers, they would keep telling them what they had earned. Although it does not mean that it will be free from the target of the crime of robbery or murder. I think they have realized the consequences that will be obtained, but their job is to give confidence to others by showing what they have gained. Stay Safe

I see the warning about not flaunt our wealth online because that will attract bad people to do something bad to us. We don't have risk our life doing that and choose to silent without telling our crypto.

We need to protect ourselves from bad people as a closer friend can turn become a bad guy if that is related to money. That is why we must not show our wealth in online or offline because we don't know who will become the bad guy.

People pretend a lot, they will take eye off you or pretend like you don't exist in their eye but the truth is they are watching, they just want you to feel less of yourself, people that shows their wealth online or offline are confused set of people, they probably think that no one cares, but the truth is people cares, people gossips, people can forcefully take anything from you.

It's becoming a norm in my country that no one cares about what you have or how you get your money, like it doesn't help anyone, I like breaking it down that it's a big lie, this is like a method to make you believe that no one really cares.

I like how people also love judging others with their looks, the one thing I learnt from my father is to always look normal and not rich, the first time I bought my car I could have went for a good looking car but I intentionally pick something less and not very attractive, it was intentionally, to keep evil eyes off my back.

The story really feels sad hearing because the horrible happened out of ignorant. If she had known the risks accompanied to her online flaunting of her wealths that's is not even a physical assets but digital as crypto, should wouldn't have made that mistake.
I don't know why people still do this. It attract scammers and robbers to look for way to gain access to your asset, because online is a big place where different people of the world are operating.
