Title: Bug about topics from Spanish board which are not displayed correctly
Post by: GazetaBitcoin on March 04, 2025, 01:15:27 PM
I noticed a bug regarding a (some) post(s) from Spanish board which are not displayed correctly. It occurred for the second time now.

First time happened at this post (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5494451.0). It was a Spanish translation made by Porf, posted in Spanish local board. The post was only partially displayed for non-Spanish users ([1] (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5442314.msg64106547#msg64106547), [2] (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5442314.msg64168733#msg64168733)).

After some investigations, Husna QA found a workaround (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5442314.msg64169709#msg64169709) and the post was displayed entirely. Apparently, the issue was caused by a particular word (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5442314.msg64169933#msg64169933) Oo (More details here (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5442314.msg64175600#msg64175600).)

Now a similar bug occurred again, for another post (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5532397.0) made inside Spanish board. The behavior was somehow different this time. I could not see (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5442314.msg65075600#msg65075600) this post at all and, as it can be seen from the screen shot from the mentioned link, I can not see even the Merit button (I did not have the Spanish board at ignore). This issue occurred on my side on various browsers, both on mobile and PC.

However, I could see the post correctly while trying to access it when not being logged on the forum.

At same time, Spanish users, but also other non-Spanish users are seeing the post displayed correctly.

This drew my attention, because this is second time when something like this happens, so after discussing with Porf about it, I decided to start this thread. If anyone encountered similar bugs or if anyone has any idea what causes this, feel free to intervene.

I think that the weirdness you're talking about is due to one (or both) of the following uBlock filters:

Code:
bitcointalk.org##:xpath(//span[contains(text(),"Advert")]/../..)
bitcointalk.org##td:has(> span[class]:has-text(Advert))

Both that XPath expression, and the CSS selector seem buggy to me (in different ways).

Anyway, I'm not sure what content blocker you're running, but I can get this post (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5532397.msg65075286#msg65075286) to display correctly for me by disabling "cosmetic filtering" in uBlock Origin:

I guess you need to try to check it using other browsers if its still the same. Higher chance that those browser you are using have strong built-in ad blocker just like PowerGlove mentioned or browser's cache issue.
I can totally see the posts you've all mentioned, so it must be a browser's issue.

Dear PowerGlove, you are amazing, as always! I also disabled "cosmetic filtering" and now the post is displayed correctly. Thank you!
I wonder though... how many forum users do know about this setting, in order to disable it...? And how many know that by disabling it you can see some posts which are not displayed correctly... Anyway, I'll keep this in mind... Thousand thanks!

And a browser issue was, indeed... I applied PowerGlove's suggestion and all is good now :)

Locking the thread as the issue is solved. Thank you guys!
