Title: Looking for exchange alpha testers [1BTC Prize]
Post by: dave111223 on April 02, 2014, 12:13:50 AM
UPDATE:

Alpha test competition is now completed and the 3 winners were randomly selected (usernames masked for privacy):

1st prize winner: j*******ez
2nd prize winner: r******id
3nd prize winner: t********70

UPDATE:

Only 10 days left for this alpha test; we've been adding lots of features to the site based on some great feedback.

But still would love to get some more stress testing done.  There is a leaderboard of traders after you login so that you can check if you are currently in the top 10 with a chance at winning.

Exchange URL: https://exchange.bitcoin.co.th (https://exchange.bitcoin.co.th)

A big thanks to all the alpha testers...you guys have provided great data and feedback for fixing and upgrading our trading system.

In order to more fairly distribute the prize and to encourage more volume in test trades we are changing the contest format a bit.

The top 10 traders by trade count will be placed into a lottery pool.  We will draw 3 winners on May 5th.   Prizes will be (same total prize):
1st Prize:  0.7BTC
2nd Prize:  0.2BTC
3rd Prize:  0.1BTC

We will be resetting the balances, but all your previous trades will still count towards your total trade count at the end of the contest.
The new balance values will better reflect the value of each coin so that each coin can be validly traded.

The system will also be switching to a public alpha and entry passwords have been removed.

* If you are seeing a 0 balance please log-out and log back in to get your new reset balance coins *

Please PM me for the details if you are interested in helping.

hey If its a ALPHA level testing i would like to contribute.. shoot me a detailed pm ..  ;)

I would be interested to learn more as well. If it sounds on the up and up, I would participate as well. PM me if you're still looking for testers.

There's really nothing to lose as it's just test money at this point (no withdrawals or deposits and all balances will get reset at the end of testing).  I'll PM the details

I sent you a PM, this sounds like fun.

Any chance of a 2nd and/or 3rd prize so more than one person can win?
Thank you.

Still looking for more testers and if you look at the top10 traders it is still very possible to get into the winnings...

Currently 23 trades or more will put you in the top 10.

Question. Given the alpha state of the site are you willing/ready to refund coins lost due to errors(which their will be)?

I'd love to come test out your site.. But I am hesitant to but any BTC into a site just opening still admittedly in alpha

Ahh I see that the site is not actually accepting running and is using testnet mode

I think allowing users to specify how often do they want to be logged out would be a great feature. Also, does the API work? I can't get it to work.

Yeah no actual deposits or withdrawals yet, it's just play money now.

Once it goes to Beta in May then it will allow deposits and withdrawals and we plan to offer some small amount of free coins so that people can start using the Beta version risk free.

Thanks will consider adding the session expiration option.

API should be working;  I'm assuming you got it working as you've racked up an impressive 15000 trades :D

If not please let me know what issues you are having with the API?

Actually I never got it working (the server returned a blank page), those 15000 trades have been made using the JS console to automate trades ;)
I'll try it on a different platform (the API) and I'll let you know if I still have the same problems.

Have a look at the PHP example class for how to work with the API:
https://github.com/bitcoincoltd/bitexthai/

If you are getting blank page returns please let me know what function you were using (it should not return a blank page, always some kind of success or error)

That is the code I was using. Actually, cURL returned nothing, and no headers as well. And no errors.
I just tried it on Linux and it worked (returned a proper error message). I was trying it on Windows (PHP 5.4.19) and, although I think I tested each and every thing that could have failed (and all of them worked for other sites), it did not work. Obviously something's left...

EDIT: I got it to work.

I have emailed all the winners; if you are a winner and you did not receive an email then please contact me via PM.

Thanks to all the alpha tester; the feedback and data that you provided has proved extremely useful to a level that I could never have imagined.

We ended up putting though a total of almost 1,500,000 user transactions during the test.  I'm now confident the software is secure, reliable and will scale.

We'll be doing some more final internal testing this week and hopefully able to go live around next week.

Isn't Thailand the country which made Bitcoins illegal?

Why on earth start a bitcoin exchange there? More importantly for its users, why would you trust such an exchange?

Isn't Thailand the country which made Bitcoins illegal?

Why on earth start a bitcoin exchange there? More importantly for its users, why would you trust such an exchange?

We are the only registered business in Thailand providing bitcoin services, and have been in business for a year with an excellent service record (you will not find any complaints about our service).

Bank of Thailand has been in direct contact with us and everything you read about regulation in Thailand has probably involved our company.

You can read about the various changes in local Bitcoin policy here: http://bitcoin.co.th/news/

As to "why would users trust us":
1) We provide a 100% transparency proof of funds section here: https://exchange.bitcoin.co.th/info/transparency/
This allows you to verify any bitcoin or alt-coin address that we hold funds on

2) As I said we are a registered company and all deposits are made to our corporate bank accounts in our business name

3) Since we have had numerous previous dealing with the central bank I think this would put us in a better position for discussion if future regulation were to be imposed.
