I logged on here, I didn't even notice until I commented on a thread, then I saw something, that scared the shit outta me, like what the f**k ( don't freak out, am decent lol)

I quickly reached out to a superior on here. (You know, I don't have a grasp on many things yet)

Then I got boom response.
It goes thus...'lol you've been fooled'
Then I remembered it was April 1st, in good fate, I progressed to get updates on crypto. (Haven been outdated, for some days)
There lies another shocker, almighty Bitcoin that closed at $100,000 in 2024 was at $78,000.

I just couldn't put it together so I went on to read more and be sure it closed at 100 grand in 2024.

Isn't this decline rather mind blowing?

Does this have anything to do with the trade wars?
Am just asking as everything seem to be happening together.

Like wow, this space can be crazy and bloody at the same time.

The fluctuation in the last one month is out of this world.

Here I was thinking, well if there is a decline or a drop, it will not go beyond 80 or 90 grand. How wrong I was.

At least you know now that it is a tradition around here on April 1st of every year. Get ready for another fooling next year.

You can use the search bar to check for pasts April fools on the forum. Most people including myself have fallen for it once. I don't fall for it again. When that time of the year is around the corner, my mind is already prepared to know that whatever I see or read on the forum on that day is not as it seems.

Remember it’s April Fool’s Day, and don’t worry we were all fooled once and then get used to it every 1st of April. It’s just a tradition every 1st day of April, well it could really blown up your mind if you aren’t aware of it. But if you have been here in the forum longer, you’ll never get fooled with that, but newbies often do. At least you’ll prepare yourself for something like that when the following year comes.

A word of advice. You shouldn’t be sending dms to people you don’t know in the forum. You could be reported for sending unsolicited messages. If you’re not sure about something going on in the forum, you can use the search bar to look for answers or start a topic on meta.

As for bitcoin price dropping from 100k to $78,000, it’s not unusual since we all know that the market is volatile and cannot always be in an upward thread.

Personally, I don’t see it like you’re actually fooled because you don’t lose any amount seeing those announcements. You only fall on the trap, that’s just it. Only to realize late that it’s April fools day, so you can’t help not getting caught in the trap. As long as there’s no harm happened that time, and no real losses were endured, that really isn’t intended to fool anyone.

Just the same way that some people thought Hhampuz was also playing some of those April Fool’s pranks when he made a public statement about the sudden end of the Duelbit campaign. It sure did come as a shock to those who worked with him and so many of them didn’t believe it until he cleared the air that he wasn’t joking and that he’d never joke with his campaign. The whole thing was both sad and kinda funny to watch lol, because a lot of people couldn’t accept the fact that the news was broken on the most unserious day on earth lol.

Welcome, to bitcointalk April Fool's Day even though that is coming late just as others have said you don't need to be confused or say you were fooled as your topic title suggested, never take anything that co.e from the admin seriously most, especially on 1st of April, you can see that the merit system has reverted to normal now and that shows that the play is over now.

Last year April Fool's was a bit louder than this year since the admin hard every member of the forum turn into spammer tags, with some inscriptions like loud mouth and others that made the whole April Fool's Day fun for all of us.

It is done to everyone, and newbies are a part of i,t even we, long-time members of the forum. So, this always happens every April Fool's Day, there will be another unique AFD prank next year.

This space is crazy and this is a nice thread you've made containing two context, the AFD and the price of Bitcoin. But if you want to talk mostly about the price of Bitcoin, we've got the Speculation (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=57.0) board for it. The recent decline isn't mind blowing when we've mostly seen a huge pump that has happened for several months since last year for Bitcoin up to this point.

As to the market, it isn't completely insulated from the global fiat-based economy. It can be affected. That's what's happening right now. Countries all over the world are affected. Stocks are falling. Trillions are wiped out. Uncertainty has taken over the global market. World trade arrangements are severely disrupted by Trump's policies. But worry not, just hodl tight. I think some of the old members of the forum are already getting used to thee pranks since it’s already anticipated that Theymos would attempt to pull off new pranks at that time of the year, so it’s probably those who are new to the forum or who joined after April first that may likely fall for that prank and not those who have been around for a long time. Although these pranks can also turn out to be somehow intense for even some members who have stuck around the forum for a while and I guess that’s what actually makes it really fun.

A lot of people are panicking about the current Bitcoin price around me, and the uncertainty is: if Bitcoin will actually go back up, if the market will be bullish for Bitcoin again.

I know people who are already considering selling, people who are already reconsidering holding their Bitcoin for the long term. What if the initial Bitcoin rising and backing was a way to get people to settle with the new administration before reality starts unfolding?

I've been hearing these comments around me for quite a while, and honestly, it's only normal for a human being to think about it. What if the Bitcoin rising up to $100K was just for the initial moment? Anyways, I still believe that with a lot of investments and commitment from big sharks in Bitcoin, the  community is going to fight for it, and the price would go up eventually. Fingers crossed.

The April fool is a normal tradition been done by the forum administrator Theymos, it always shocking because no one can predict what will happen next, no one do have idea of which joke will be cracked next year, so be ready.

For Bitcoin price speculation, it is something we can’t explain, the market is volatile that is why the price is unpredictable. Bitcoin price can surge up to $100k anytime with no explanation for it, and it can also go down below your expectations and it is usually normal because we all know how volatile the market is and how it works.
However, this price movement shouldn’t stop you from investing in Bitcoin, keep buying even with little amount of money using DCA method so that by some time, you would have accumulated a good value of Bitcoin.

Yeah, every year on April 1st theymos has a little surprise for us. Few years ago it was a scheme that he was rewarding noobs for begging on the forum with merit, so it caused all kind of havoc as people were spamming like crazy.
It was all kind of weird mischief on his part, but well accepted as it brough smiles on some of our faces

I understand that April fool's day prank is a tradition in this forum so expect another one next year and I hope that you will get the joke and not be fooled twice. Personally I wasn't quite fooled when I saw the 1000 merit on my profile, I suspected that it was a prank and after seeing the same thing on other members profile I didn't panic. About your second worry, you should know that Bitcoin is volatile and price can dump or pump at anytime, although the rate of the recent dump wasn't quite expected because we are assumed to still be in the bull run. Weak hands will panic and sell but experienced investors will use the opportunity to increase their bags, if you have the knowledge of how Bitcoin works you will hold and wait till it recovers and rallies.

I believe the April fool's prank by Theymos got lots of people apart from the OP but it's understandable since they're not experienced enough to understand that it's a yearly tradition by the Administrator (Theymos) Well it's good they got the experience so they won't be fooled twice in the future by Theymos. Anyways I won't be suprised that a lower ranking member would panic over the price of Bitcoin like I said, it's due to inexperience, since most of them didn't quite know much about bitcoin or how volatile it is before joining this place but the good thing about this forum is that you'll get to learn alot and understand the concepts of Bitcoin and it's circle and by the they'll see no reason to panic over any dip.

Discovering that it was April fool already solved the whole problem, now its over to you to always take note of this particular day in other not to be surprised or fooled for the second time, everything was about fun and nothing more, such like a prank, just to catch the month early with having fun and the admin take charge of doing all these, ensure you market the date on your calendar to make sure you never forget again.

Last year's April fool joke really got me the way it got you because I was still very new in the forum then, use of the forum users were tagged as shit poster and the merit system was turned upside down in a hilarious way. Now that you have seen this year's April fool trick, get ready for next year's as theymos always have something off his sleeves for everyone in the forum, yeah you are right @OP this space isn't for the feeble and I thought the same thing when I was still a newbie but now I'm use to it and you will also get use to the forum with time.

And you’ll know that it’s a joke the OPTook it seriously because he did not know about it. The thing is really fun, though; it came in another way in which you won’t even think it will end in such a way. No one will even think or predict what he will be doing. As you said, he shouldn’t be freaking out; there is not free service everywhere, man. You need to work for what you will see in your wallet.

It's a fun way to keep the forum going with fun. I think I like it and am going to keep my eyes open next year. I might have to keep a timer, so that I don't forget .

each year there's a different game or thing happening, it is pretty funny, I wonder what they'll prepare for 2026

A lot has indeed happened during the past few months, and we can’t really say the trade war alone was responsible for that sharp correction. But that shouldn’t be shocking to you. When we say Bitcoin’s price is volatile, this is what we are talking about. So, as you invest in Bitcoin, you should have a long-term goal in mind because that is one way you can navigate through Bitcoin’s price volatility.

There is no need to panic; Bitcoin doesn’t disappoint those who invest properly. Except if you have the intention of withdrawing your investment urgently, then you might end up being unlucky with the price at which you will sell your bitcoins.

You know when investing on Bitcoin we should always have long term goal than having short term investment, and due to it's volatility most aren't that patient enough to watch their Bitcoin dropping in price because they are not really ready to accept a little drop of price. Only Theymos go you unlike many of us that received shockers from Theymos, Tryninja Telegram both and many other places. If your heart is not strong, the best you can do is to avoid this forum on every first of April because if you do, you may see what you are not prepared for as there are many surprises in the stock.

Those who feel so bad seeing their Bitcoin asset depreciate are the "I want to get rich quick" kind of people who are looking for cheap opportunities to get what they want. A real Bitcoin investor, whether a newbie or an experienced investor, understands that Bitcoin’s price fall is usually a temporary phase. There's always new way for the admins to scare members I was hesitant to login last April 1 but out of curiosity I still did, honestly the admins are good at surprises every April fools day, if you're a newbie and you are not aware of this, you will get a shock but once you got used to it, only two things either you will be excited or you will feel nervous.
I wonder what will it be the next surprise on next year's April, well still a long way but I'm sure its something worth looking when the end of March is approaching.

The April fool event is like a culture now in the forum. I remember wanting to compile a list of all the April fool's done in the forum only for me to figure out someone already did that. However, it is becoming a usual event and it doesn't freaks me anymore or surprises me. It is more fun to me because I get to see how open the bitcoin forum is to welcome new development. For the past few years there hasn't been any recent development added in the forum. Although suggestion were made many times in the Meta board but so far none have been able to pick the interest of Theymos.

Sometimes I wish everyday was April fool's day so I can play around new features in the forum.
