This recent scam happened last weekend as a ponzi schemes called cbex scammed people home and abroad of their investment asset worth $822 million. this same subject matter has been created  But why people the still choose Ponzi schemes over bitcoin? (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5537986.0) on the Nigerian local board section, but I wish to also bring it here on the beginners and help section in other to help pass the information more widely to other forum users aside the naija pidjin it was been posted.

• To go further in digging into what CBEX is all about, this is a ponzi scheme that accepts investments with a minimum of $100 as investment starting capital upwards, then you stand a chance of earning certain  percentage daily from your money, make referrals which is optional and they have their physical office in Nigeria to help captivate their local investors and present their online platform to other interested foreign investors with proofs of their business registration with the government.
  

• All of a sudden, their sites becomes unreachable and people were unable to make withdrawals of their money until everything blasted and got confirmed it was a scam to all it's investors and this became a trending scam on the Internet as over $822 million worth about #1.5 trillion Naira and moved to their personal ethereum wallet.

It was gathered that some investors who could locate their physical office went over there to loot away their office materials and carted away any physical office equipment they saw while all their personnel couldn't be found.

This same scammers could be having other ponzi scam brands which some are also investing with already awaiting their bubble to be bursted, or may be planning another route to continue with related scam on the greedy ones that wanted to take advantage of opportunity with ponzi.

My Advice for you is simple: Learn to invest by yourself and avoid anything that involves centralized third party investment, always do things by yourself, there a common slogan here, do your own research (DYOR) and know that not your keys not your coins, don't give your digital asset to someone for an investment when you can learn how to invest on your own.

1. Don't invest in ponzi schemes because of high returns within a short period.
2. Learn to know that crypto is not ponzi but ponzi can come in a form of crypto or any other currency.
3. Learn what ponzi scheme is and understand the meaning.

People like Ponzi and were scammed by Ponzi scam projects because they see it as an easy way to get rich, and get rich very quickly.

They have money but they don't want to be intelligent investors and they can not wait to be richer with Bitcoin. It takes time like months if you luckily join in a bull market, or years, cycles and they choose Ponzi, that's bad.

I believe that Ponzi scams are very easy to recognize but when people are lazy but greedy enough, they will become blindly and be scamme by Ponzi projects.

I feel sorry for the people who lost the monty they probably couldn't afford to lose. It is quite frequent that those who have less fall the most in this kind of schemes. And I'm also sorry because 822M ended up in the hands of unscrupulous people who will surely not put them to good use.

My brother told me about it but I avoided it and told him it might be a scam. It is obvious that it is a scam now. We have discussed this on local board before because this happened some days ago and not just now.

It is easy to know those scam businesses but some people just do not learn about how to avoid scam.

I don't understand something, how were they able to operate so far, having a physical location, and yet they don't have a license from the government. The government needs to be held accountable to some extent, if they failed to operate under a license from the government how come they lasted long enough to gather so much funds from people. EFCC came out and claimed that everyone should be in peace that they will recover all funds, let it be true because several times we have experienced similar fraudulent acts in past, its enough for individuals and the government to be aware of such future scenarios occurring.

I read about this news online and I was sincerely sad to hear such having a repeat in this modern age and day when there's so much online business and cryptocurrencies to invest in for a better profit.
It still beats my imagination how CBEX got to have a hold on people looking for quick profit and even the members would organize seminars and convince unsuspecting newbies to invest.

The most saddening story was that of a woman I read who sold her properties to invest in this ponzi scheme, only to wake up to this news of their crash and obvious failure.

There's no get rich scheme without patience, work and consistent build up. If people learn this, there would be no ponzi scheme that would throw potential investors off track.

A aunty of mine try to introduce this Cbex to me, after checking it out right in front of her, I told her directly that it's a scam, I asked her where the money is coming from because 100% return is impossible, she responded that they paid.

Few times online  some warning videos from content creators came up warning people about this Cbex, many people don't care.

I don't feel pity for the greedy ones, they deserve everything they got.

So let's dog this down with necessary references so that we don't fall further to some other looking genuine platforms of making money as the Ponzi.
Just yesterday someone in an enclosed relationship with my family told me he was going to send me a link to where I can invest #150,000 approximately $93.80 at current exchange that I'll be generating #5,000 = $3.125 daily with other benefits.

I've been victim to Ponzi twice but I've learnt my lessons.
This site is currently working but I pity those who'll be victimized because I'm sure the organizers are waiting to acquire a very large community participants before clicking their shutdown button of the site.
I didn't make this site visible for others to participate on it but I'm sure what Op has described here is potential to what will happen to that site soon. So for safety sake, be aware that most of these portrayed licensed financial sites are operating of disguise full of scam.

Well, I'm not surprised that people still fall for scams that assures quick returns. The shambled economy has prompt people to doing anything, so believing something like this was never a problem. And the surprising thing is, there are similar scams that have been introduced in the past, but humans will always be humans, some people just have to learn the hard way.


No Ponzi Scheme uses the name "Ponzi Scheme".
I believe the majority of those that were involved don't even know how sophisticated the internet space is. From one of the news I found on YouTube, a victim said her own neighbor referred her to the program with a proof of payments/returns. Majority of those involved in these types of scams don't even know how to carry out a proper search. They just want to see a proof of payment, and they are automatically in the game since that's enough to convince them.

I think that CBEX is not the first Ponzi scheme, and neither will it be the last Ponzi scheme that will rug-pulled people's money in Nigeria. Why all these Ponzi schemes seem to wax strong in Nigeria is because people are impatient. They want quick success, quick ROI and quick growth. Anything that requires a long-term investment plan before seeing gains counts most Nigerian citizens out of it; they are not interested.

The advice that should be given is to let people know that anything that promises quick gains in investment should be avoided. Any genuine Investment should be long-term planning, not short-term, that will start given its investor's ROI.

There are people that already knows that this was a ponzi scheme project but they still go ahead to invest on it because of greed. Well I won't feel pity for those kind of people because they already know what it was, but they still invest in it cause they think that they might get profits early before any issues will burst on the project.
However, before anyone should start a third party investment, they should make their own research. Although it's not safe but people should try as much as possible to know the kind of things they want to invest in to because scammers can go more further to make sure victims believe and trust every process.

even though there are many cases of ponzi schemes that end tragically, there are still many people who continue to put their money into projects like this. they are tempted by high returns and unlimited income by only putting a few dollars into it, even though it's all just a trick before the project owner later runs away with all the customer's money.

because of that now we have to be more careful and don't immediately put money into certain projects that promise a lot of money in a short time. just always understand that investment offers with high returns are just nonsense, there is no such thing as a 'free lunch', all of that is just a scam.

These schemes are often adept at marketing their projects, and many believe you need to buy Bitcoin to invest in Bitcoin, and that you can't invest as little as $10. Also, investing $100 in Bitcoin for 10 years won't make you rich.

The signs were already there that CBEX was a ponzi but it's either people did not care or they were absolutely ignorant. From what I understand, when investors make a deposit and leave it for 30 days, they get a 100% return of their investment. That's a classical ponzi scheme model. You can't get such returns by mere holding an asset in your personal wallet or on any reputable exchange.

Since my MMM experience, I had to do away with the Ponzi scheme because the experience was not something I would want to encounter again. So anybody bringing such to my dm again is immediately removed and blocked. This is not the first Ponzi scheme that has gone south in the crypto space, although the figure involved is not something to overlook at the moment, because people put in their savings hoping to get financial freedom based on trust they got from people who referred them to the platform but, unfortunately, this happened.  Maybe they would learn their lesson the hard way and not get involved in anything that has to do with a Ponzi scheme anymore.

Greed is bad. These people aren't just naive or innocent but also greedy. Ponzi isn't a new thing, so I assume most of us/them are aware of the fact that they're likely to be scams. Despite knowing the consequences, they participate in these anyway in hopes to getting rich overnight. Some of them are so overconfident that they think they can pull off their profits before the project pulls off their scams. But that doesn't happens most of the times...

It's sad that people like learning the hard way. It's not been long since many people have lost money in multiple scam projects or Ponzi schemes in Nigeria. Poverty, greed and ignorance are still attracting people to these ponzi schemes.

It was a scam project considering that investors were promised close to 100% interest on investment. Regulatory bodies in Nigeria have always advised that any crypto exchange that is registered with relevant authorities is operating illegally. I heard that the Nigerian government is partnering with Interpol to apprehend these Ponzi scheme operators..

Influencers on X, YouTube, and other platforms may promote Ponzi schemes to lure followers and motivate them to invest by promising high , guaranteed returns with no risk to their capital. In return , many people may fall for these well-crafted scams, driven by greed.

Therefore, if your favorite influencer ever promotes any means of bringing quick and unbelievable profits, you should be careful and completely ignore it. Do not throw your hard-earned money at platforms that are usually new and  have an interface with investment plans promising 200% or more returns.

I call this unrealistic as there are no profits like these that can be achieved in the crypto space, and there are no guaranteed, fixed, high profits without risks... Therefore, anyone who encounters such fake promises and temptations should stay away and not even try.

Do people really learn their lessons. Greed makes sure that people never satisfied with being patient for money. Some of these people who are victims of this new Ponzi have been victims before but they refused learning their lessons. Some of these people even find it easier to invest their money in these Ponzi's than in things like cryptocurrency, while there are those that will then carry the experience they had or heard another person had and make it their reason for not investing in bitcoins.

This Cbex scam has been making the rounds on the internet for the past few days. I already drafted a topic about it to post in my local board since most of the victims are from West Africa. Ponzi schemes will always succeed in developing countries where the majority of the people are living in poverty. What I find remarkable about this ponzi is that I didn’t hear about them until they made their exit. I feel sorry for all the victims, I doubt they will get their money back.

People don't actually like it, but unfortunately that is what these people know on where they can earn fast profit.

To bad for them to take the risk and believe that if they are early investor they could get sure profit with this scams.

Most of those people goes on ponzi schemes are those lazy and dumb individuals. If they are thinking about what's more better from them for sure that they won't grab those cheap offers and go unto something that is more beneficial to them.

Believe me when I say that people will still go for Ponzi they will ignore the CBEX scam and still put money in Ponzi projects if any come in place, because they want to make quick money and people have this mentality of saying if you don't take Risk you won't get rich without knowing that not every risk is worth taking. And for as for Nigeria I like there new law on Ponzi scheme, Nigeria government has past a law that anyone who promote Ponzi scheme in the country will be jail or pay a fine of 20Million  but even as people will still promote Ponzi scheme in the country.

I don't feel pity for anyone who lost their money to this ponzi scheme. Those people who did are the same folks that would mock you for investing in Bitcoin because they think that they are in a better system that will make them rich quicker than you who invested in Bitcoin. These participants in this ponzi scheme already have experience with ponzis previously.I don't pity them at all. I hope they have learnt the hard way.

It is normal to feel angry or not sorry for people who lose money in scams especially if they criticized other people money decisions. You might think they knew risks of these scams so it is hard to feel bad for them. But we have seen many cases that people who know bit about money can get tricked by clever scams. Promise of making more money fastly can be tempting and scammers are clever to make things look more real. Even if someone has seen scams before it does not mean they can not get fooled again.
So even if people should be careful main blame goes to people who plan and run these scams. If you feel sorry for victims is up to you but it is good to remember that these scams are designed to trick people.

These Ponzi schemes will go everywhere where people have a lack of financial education and awareness. I feel bad whenever there is news like this because I've had experience in the past that I have become a victim of it. Although it's not a big amount of money, how much more those victims who thought they would be able to make a lot of money putting their life savings heavily into it?

While I understand why you don't pity them because they have to be responsible for their money and action but somehow, they really are pitiful.

There was a case of a retiree who invested part of her retirement benefits in this Ponzi scheme. She was convinced by her children to invest since she had no knowledge about this CBEX scheme. She lost all and is now frustrated. I don't have sympathy for those who were driven by greed. But those who invested because of ignorance, especially illiterates and the elderly, have my sympathy. It's a lesson to everyone that profits shouldn't be our main target but the authenticity of the project.

It is really worrying to hear about Cbex trick and how it is hurting people especially in West Africa. You are doing right thing by wanting to warn people where you live. Sadly problems in poor countries where many people do not have much money make it easy for these kinds of fake money plans to start and look like they are working at first. When people really need more money they believe promises of getting rich quickly even if it sounds like true.
It is typical and annoying that these Ponzi schemes stay hidden until they fall apart. When first people who invest get paid encourages more people to join mostly because they hear about it from friends.
Losing money in these scams can be really hard especially for people who do not have much to begin with. Just like this I have scene many cases in my country too. People just believe because of his/her friend because he got paid. And this thing promote this kind of scams.

I don't think that is enough reason for anyone not to have pity for those who lost money to CBex. Some of the people who invested in the Ponzi scheme were entirely unaware of it as ponzi scheme. They were convinced by others some stupid peole to invest in this kind of scheme, hoping for big returns.This is something that those who believe in Bitcoin wouldn't do because we know that nothing is guaranteed. We can't promise anyone any returns, even though there is enough evidence from Bitcoin's history to suggest it is a promising investment.

However, the painful part is that some people are aware that CBex is a Ponzi scheme, yet they still put money into it, thinking that the first investors can easily make profits. For such people, I wouldn't have any pity. MAn, these ponzies have been around since the time of moses. You only need to look at the ETH gas guzzlers, and you're sure to find few in the top 10 guzzlers.
Bottom line is people are greedy, and they always want to find the quickest way to get money

When will people learn that any quick way to riches leads to financial destruction and lifetime regrets. That's what people fail to understand about ponzi schemes. They always think that the way to financial freedom comes as easy. There is no need to build it all over for the long term when there are quick ways to achieve that, through Ponzi schemes(that's what people thought).

However, if people would let go of the idea of becoming rich in a short while, I think the high rate of these ponzi schemes would be minimized a lot. That’s too harsh. You’re playing judge & jury, and generalizing the situation of the victims when you don’t have any information on their backstory. Some people are fortunate to have it easy, others learn the hard way and become more aware. I hope the victims can recover from this loss mentally and financially.

Any investment policy that involves putting in a certain amount and expecting it to double or triple in a certain amount of time without requiring any form of work, whether online or physical, to get your money, I don't really fancy it. How would anybody just triple your money for doing nothing? It's really sad and painful that people actually lose their hard-earned money to this kind of thing.

I know they say ignorance is not an excuse, but the economy is hard, and I don't think it's right for anyone to lose their money to any form of scam. This should serves as a strict warning to everybody: do not invest your money in any platform that promises triple returns without you doing any form of work. Even platforms that ask for referrals is a no. No to all platforms that promise more rewards for referring more people. Why are you looking for so many people?

 Why not build your brand over time, one step at a time. Brands that have a name now were built over time. This pattern of scam has become rampant, so I think we should be more careful, pay more attention, and warn those around us so they won't fall victim to such schemes.

Imagine how she will be sad and disappointed in her children for making her invest her hard earned money on a ponzi scheme, this is the money that should have been invested in something meaningful that will benefit her as a retiree but her children being very greedy invested the money into something they don't know about because of the 100% profit they were promised it's such a pity. This is not the first time we are getting such information and this won't be the last people are just in a hurry to make quick profit they don't have a second thought to think about what will become of their money when they are scammed and today they are crying all over the social media because of the scam just give them a few weeks they will start investing in another one I don't think any one should sympathize with them because they will still invest in ponzi again.

This is very sad.  It is not a developing country nor is it a rich one, and even if it was it would be unfair.  But robbing the rich is one thing, robbing the poor is an even lower level of the ocean.

It is unfortunately still extremely easy to fool people by convincing them their life will be changed for the better, even in 2025 when you would think people learned their lesson through older generations of people who were fooled too.  But I suppose the euphoria of the moment and the strong desire to have a better life leads to such actions taken in vain, ending in dire consequences.

Have made to understand that any investment site that offer their participants or investors higher returns in a very short period of time is assume to be a scam.
They want to use that high returns and incentives like referral bonuses as trap to get hold of those greedy ones.But it quite unfortunate that most people really focus their mind on getting rich quick on fake investments site rather than being patient on their investments for good site.
Any profitable investment is grow and steady and not getting rich quick kind of thing.
So we ought to be very careful when investing,so that we will not be victim of any circumstance.

I wanted to point that out also, there is no need to be harsh on those who fall victim to this unfortunate scam incident, and we should not take the grace that we have in knowing right and wrong investment to the point that we are now generalizing and playing judge over another person pain.


But very unfortunate that this happened, despite the years of warnings and bad experiences of Nigerians with Ponzi schemes, no doubt that most victims are driven by their greeds and for that we need to know that for a person who knows it is hard to fall into such a trap.

I don't believe in 2025 people will still fall victim to ponzi scheme, after all the terrible experiences with ponzi scheme all these years.  I thought by now people should have learn better about ponzi scheme and have nothing to do with, but I'm still surprised with numbers of people that were into this scheme and the amount of money invested in this scheme. Ponzi scheme is very risky and the primary purpose of it is to scam because this has always been the result of every ponzi scheme.  I don't expect such amount of Money should be lost in a time like this because I felt ponzi scheme is an outdated kind of scam which people don't need to fall for.

Scam is happening everywhere and we shouldn't take that in crypto as the only one that should be more pronounced, because more other scam exist with other system as we have with this example of the recent one, yet the government allow the operations of these illicit brands to claim away peoples asset before they are now intervening, this is not the first of its kind though, but each time something like this happened, it sparks on many reactions and references on the past events, i want to believe some of us are learning already to have contentment.

People are learning the hard way every day from the result of their involvement in the Ponzi schemes but the Major reasons why they can't stop trying their luck is because of greed and how they want to invest $50 to make profit of $200 within a short period of time not minding where the money will be coming from. The number of people who lost money in the Ponzi scheme of recent will be smaller to the number of people you will see this time next year because people are not going to learn they just want to keep losing money all in the name of making easy money they didn't work for, until people stop being greedy ponzi scam will keep being active.

No matter how people are warned about all this Ponzi scheme, they will never listen, I never head about the Ponzi scheme before until it crashed, and I saw people complaining about the amount the have lost in it. I was just surprise that some people sold their properties just for them to put their money in the Ponzi scheme, and at the end they will have to start over.

I heard some people wanted to commit suicide after they got scammed, because they invested everything they had into it, and they don’t even know where to start from. I just kept on shaking head when I heard the amount different people invested in the Ponzi scheme.

How will you even put your money in a business that promise 100% return without any risk involved in it, they claim if you invest in them, then you will never lose money, which their is no business thats 100% safe, every business requires risk.

Many people have been falling for it because they feel since it is been promoted by an influencer,a public figure, it is safe and that if anything goes wrong,the influencer may not have anywhere to hide. Most times when the Ponzi schemes finally crashed,you will see the same influencer coming out to apologize to the public, that he wasn't aware that he was promoting a Ponzi schemes. The truth is that,this influencers have been paid a very huge amount of funds to lure innocent followers into investing, knowing fully well that it is a ponzi scheme and that it will eventually crashed.This guys have sold their conscience for money and doesn't care what will happens to others and that's why I always avoid any investment platforms that promised high returns whether it is been promoted by an influencer or even by the government.

i can confirm to you that a young lady got depressed by loosing her entire funds to Cbex scam and later took her own life by swallowing a poisonous substance called Sniper. I believe greed is just the major problem that made this lady to invest all her money in a ponzi scheme and now the results for it had cost her life. It is a sad ending for her but some people will never learn anything from this. People should learn to avoid  investments with promising high returns because it's risky and unsafe.

Majority of people are always looking for get rich quick schemes and most of them get scammed, still most people that hears their stories will not learn from it. There are many similar scam investments that I hear about everyday in my country, with my knowledge in this forum and from research I know that they are all scams. Some people will know that these Ponzi schemes are scams but they will still invest in them with hope that they will recover their capital and make some profits before it will crash. I heard about CBEX from somebody but I was not interested in it because I don't risk my funds in get rich quick Ponzi schemes.

Thank you for you advice. Basically, these kinds of projects and schemes usually target countries and regions where most of the population is both naive and greedy because of a lack of literacy. They also do it in countries or regions where they know there aren't a lot of laws or any security for investors that invest money online, because they want freedom to operate, and they can only get that from such regions. If they launch their programs in regions where there are organisations that protect their users from such things, they will fail because they won't be able to verify themselves and keep operating legally.

Those who invest in such schemes are the ones who have zero knowledge about how earning money works. They hear from the internet that it's possible to earn money online, and as soon as they find such projects, they believe these are the methods used by people to earn money online, so they start investing and they invest more and refer others when they get some money initially which traps them even more.

As with all other ponzi schemes, Cbex met its end. It is because of this reason that I invest in any ponzi scheme as only the early birds make money and anyone joining late will lose. I have a couple of friends whose family members actively participated in the Cbex ponzi scheme and they have been in disbelief about it ever since.

We have seen different Ponzi schemes previously, and more are being created, but people are not really learning from the previous mistakes which they made. CBEX is the latest Ponzi scheme which scammed people that I know, if another Ponzi scheme is created today, am sure some people that lost their money in the CBEX Ponzi scheme are still going to participate in it, my problem is that people are not learning, and after losing you will see them on the social media crying, seeking for help.

Whenever you see a Ponzi scheme, it’s always obvious that it’s a Ponzi scheme, whenever you see a platform that make some unreasonable promises, then you should know that they are Ponzi scheme, because how will a platform ask you to invest, and your money is 100% safe, with a very high return without any risk involved, then it’s a Ponzi scheme, because I haven’t seen any business that doesn’t require risk.

They present people with the idea that you need a third party in the system who has years of experience and will add up their own capital with yours in order for you to get something out of the crypto market.

That's the information they feed to their victims, and those who don't know how it works buy that idea real quick with the conviction that $10 indeed can't give you the kind of profit you need. Why not give it to those who know how to do it?

But the truth is, if all they preach were true, would they be willing to share such profit with others? What happened with keeping everything to themselves? These are questions which victims forget to ask themselves.

I saw a post in the Nigerian local board that the authorities have promised to find the scammers and return the stolen money to the victims. This news may be a source of hope for the victims but I doubt if the EFCC can come through for the CBEX victims.

Funny authorities. Even funnier are the people that will patiently wait and continue waiting for years in hope that the authorities will do something. They said the same about rasterli, all the victims are still waiting on them till today.

Any money invested is as good as gone and only way to move forward is to forget am it asap and forgive yourself themselves.

Chasing and arresting scammers need time, and even it is possible, there is another impossible task. It is impossible to ask scammers return stolen money to victims. If scammers already spend scammed money in on chain transactions, there is no way to get it back.

If at a time of arrest, scammers have empty wallets, they can not refund victims. Governments can not do anything for refund and only can send scammers to jail.

Anyone who I call a friend that comes to me with a high-yield investment scheme promising a 100% return in a short time, that will be the day I will cut that person off. And if that happens to be one of my bad days, I might just report you to the police for trying to scam me.

I have had my own unpleasant Ponzi scheme experience from the past. I still regret the losses and what I would have done with the money I invested in it. That part of my life is done.

Always do your own research, if not greed will drive your sense of reasoning.

Most of them are aware that ponzi is a scam plot but they normally assumed they are smart enough to exit the platform before it gets crashed. A colleague once invited me to participate in a ponzi like platform which I declined having known that it was purely a ponzi scheme but guess what, he responded by saying that they just launched the platform last week and we could cash out before they crashed. I asked him if he knew how long they will be around before they crash and he said he had no idea but they won't just disappear after one or two weeks.

People will never listen about investing in Ponzi schemes. This is not the first time Ponzi schemes has crashed, lots of them has crashed in the past and many more will still crash in the the future. I don't feel sorry for anyone who is still losing money to Ponzi in 2025, because they all knew the dangers associated with investing money in Ponzi yet they are investing. This is not like the early days when people were really ignorant about what Ponzi schemes were, a lot of awareness has been raised regarding Ponzi schemes and still they are investing after everything that has happened to others in the past. When they were reaping their little profits, they thought we that weren't investing in it are fools. So now that it has crashed, let them leak their wounds and move on, and try their best to avoid anything Ponzi schemes in the future.

Either joining early or joining late, it’s just better we avoid Ponzi scheme, don’t be surprise that you might be thinking you joined early, and that’s when the Ponzi scheme will crash, and you will lose your money. Most people that do join all those Ponzi scheme at early stage do find it difficult to leave even after making money, most of them will always have the confidence that the Ponzi scheme won’t be crashing any moment soon, so they won’t even leave when they are suppose to leave.

People are always looking for quick money, and all those Ponzi schemes are always promising that, people are easily brainwashed, because I don’t know why someone will promise 100 percent return within a short period of time without risk involved in it, that’s not really possible now, I don’t even know why people don’t really think. People don’t learn from previous things that happened.

Cbex promised their investor a 100% ROI after 30 days, i wonder what some people think, how do you think you can get a 100% guaranteed ROI every 30 days, how do you even get a "guaranteed" ROI, it is basically not possible. To imagine that over 600k Nigerians fell victim to this is crazy, how were they able to deceive that much people with this get rich quick scheme.

That said, the funny thing is even if another scheme similar to this pops up in some years time, many people would still fall victim to it, forgetting what happened in this situation.

TBH, I never heard about CBEX anywhere offline or online, not even from friends until it crashed. Someone said because they know that I will not invest, so they won't waste their time convincing me.

I didn’t hear about it not until the scam happened and people began to lament online about their stolen funds. If I had come across it earlier, I would have indeed avoided it because I have experienced such scam before during my early days surfing the internet and looking for means to make more money. No one close to me that I know fell victim of it, maybe that’s why I never heard of it and would have even gave a warning to anyone that have invested in such scheme if I’m been introduced to it.

The annoying part is that if another one should come up after a while this one has laid low, people will still fall for the scam and don’t be surprised that those that got scammed here will still fall victims again. I hope people begin to learn from others mistakes. Scammer will always come with new ways to look somehow different and enticing to join them, don’t fall for their persuasive talks because it’s part of their technique to lure people into believing them and scamming them off their money later.

The crazy part of this scheme is how they managed to get the necessary registration from certain authorities in Nigeria, and this was what helped the scammers to easily deceive victims who thought they were legitimate.

There are a lot of victims who sold houses, lands and cars to invest in this scheme, and it is so sad that all of this happened in my home country. After reading more about the Cbex scam, it is certain that the authorities also have a share in the blame, how does a scam service easily get the necessary registration they need, information is that Cbex was registered as a consultancy firm, but regulators didn't know it was an investment platform, but that is no excuse IMO.

Just by knowing how to invest, many who fell for this scam could have been saved and have their money in their wallets today. Even if they don’t have the assets in equivalent of what they invested initially into their investment, they will still have the assets intact and could rise in the future to give them their gains for the reason of their investment into the asset. Those millions that was lost could have been avoided by just opening a non-custodial wallet and keeping your seed phrase safe while invested in bitcoin. Learning to invest in digital asset is not hard when you pick the right tokens like bitcoin to invest into.
