Hello,

Be careful when looking this up, likely a lot of services will be fraudulent. Depending on the transaction size, you can start by considering some reputable forum users here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=52.0.

Here is one example https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5432278.0

Why do you need escrow?
- If you are buying/selling something online, it's no different than any other purchase.  Instead of spending an outrageous fee for little value, use that money instead to research the other party online.
- If either one of you need to be anonymous, remember the escrow can scam you as easily as the other party.  You can't pursue legal action and if the goods are illegal, the escrow's reputation might improve by stealing from you.

I guess it depends on the user's own risk preference. It is not unlike there have not been scams in both circumstances in the past. Scammed by the escrow, or scammed by the reputable user who burned himself for that last deal. I can understand wanting an escrow in any case, especially in a dangerous environment like cryptocurrency. The usual case where it is needed involves two parties without significant reputation.

I'm not aware of any widely used escrow platforms. I know some people used to use Bitrated.com in the past, but no one ever uses that anymore.

You can find some individuals here (as mentioned above) who would help you out, but I cannot imagine anyone from outside the forums trusting them just like I don't imagine anyone from Bitcointalk trusting third party sites.

Hello,

What is the best escrow company for Bitcoin transactions?

Since your question is general and not specific here on Bitcointalk, please check out.

Escrow.com is the oldest escrow company online. You must contact them for Bitcoin transactions; some articles recommend them for Bitcoin transactions.

guaranty-escrow.com They accept crypto transactions and claim to have protected over $6 billion in transactions

cryptoexchange.com = They have an escrow service for Crypto transactions

These are community-recommended, but I have not tried their service, so do your due diligence too

A very good option is https://zen.land/
I used it, tested it, and it works without a third party. Unfortunately, it doesn't have the Bitcoin option as a method. (At least they didn't when I last used them)

I did some digging and it appears that there's a Bitcoin option, but only for paying the service fee [source (https://docs.zen.land/fundamentals/zenland-wallet)], so it still doesn't count as a proper Bitcoin escrow [unfortunately].

@Twill716: When you were trying to build an escrow platform "five years ago (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5246976.msg54392655#msg54392655)", there were only a few users who'd look for an escrow provider and that situation has become worse now [at least on this forum (I'm not counting digital sellers who'd try to contact escrow providers for things than can't be protected)], so I don't think it's worth the effort.

Hello,

What is the best escrow company for Bitcoin transactions?

https://www.Uprampr.com (https://www.Uprampr.com) is a BTC marketplace, with escrow, and a lot of other features. Escrow for counter party protection is only $1 for Uprampr.com users. I built it, so I can tell you its not a fraud  :)

Official escrow are websites that connects two parties and take a percentage cut. There were a few sites early but they closed business.
