Title: Crypto scam tracker
Post by: peter0425 on May 19, 2025, 02:13:50 PM
I found a website (Crypto Scam Tracker) (https://dfpi.ca.gov/consumers/crypto/crypto-scam-tracker/) where the department of financial protection and innovation publishes complaints that they have received regarding certain companies and arranges the complaints based on the narrative of the complaint, the type of scam, the website and includes the proof given by complainants.

Quote
The scams in this tracker are based on consumer complaints. They represent descriptions of losses incurred in transactions that complainants have identified as part of a fraudulent or deceptive operation. The DFPI has not verified the losses reported by complainants. As new scams emerge, the DFPI will update this list on an ongoing basis to alert and protect the public.

This is a screencap of a page from the website. I think it is a good way to check if a platform you are about to use has been reported here. It can also be a good place to just learn about different kinds of scams. And obviously if you have any complaints, you can send them.

OP, just as Lafu has said, there is another thread that has been created with similar topic here, you can continue your conversation on the thread by making contributions and it would be nice if you could immediately locked this thread to avoid further spamming or have it deleted by the mod.

ITs a good website, unfortunately it's always 1 step behind the scammers. These days every day 10 new scams appear, and usually it's just reworkings of old scams. But every now and again, a new one pops up.
And to be honest, some days i'm amazed about the ingenuity of them. Makes you think, why don't they use that intelligence for something good

Regardless it is still good to have such list but tbh, it needs a lot of work sorting and checking every report added if its really a scam website, and they are too many of them to begin with, that's why still kudos to those who keep working to add scam sites to any scam lister database websites.

To OP @peter0425, i suggest to follow what the first two replies, lock the thread and continue the discussion on the thread linked.

Several crypto scam trackers have existed before, but the unfortunate part is they don't last long. For some reason, the initiators of the trackers run out of steam and stop the projects along the way, yet they are so useful to the community.
Since this one seems to be backed by “Gov” I hope it goes on and on and one with tracking crypto scams.
