The best that I have used are Bluewallet and Electrum. They have almost all the features an excellent bitcoin wallet should have.

For me I recommend Blue Wallet just like Charles saidin the first comment, it's important that we take close considering on some factors when we are making decisions as far as wallet is concerned which are features and security, and for that we got that all in Blue Wallet, I know there are other wallets, but for me for less complexity, chose blue Wallet.

When you talk about security, both wallets mentioned are always among the best recommended since they are both open source, and I give both the same rating, but which one a user should choose is based on what device the person is using.

Electrum only works on Android devices; it doesn't support iOS, which is where Blue Wallet provides more options to both users (but since it's a mobile/hot wallet, there are still some dangers associated with it; only a few coins are recommended to be stored on it for security reasons since the device can always have an internet connection).

You might want to consider using Envoy mobile wallet (https://foundation.xyz/envoy/) by Foundation the same team behind the highly secure Passport hardware wallet.

Envoy is capable to operate in standalone mode meaning being in this mode it doesn't require HW to function.

Pros: fully open-source with reproducible builds, supports connectivity via TOR, capable to connect either to Foundation's node or your own one, packed with bunch of others features focused on both privacy and security.

The latest release is 1.8.6 (https://foundation.xyz/2025/02/envoy-version-1-8-6-is-now-available/).

You can find the documentation and setup guide here (https://docs.foundation.xyz/envoy/home/).

There is currently a Samourai Fork called Ashigaru Wallet, it has the same features as Samourai as Paynym, Ricochet, Coinjoins, is open source.

Currently, I don't know how this project is going, DYOR.

For other Android wallets, I recommend BlueWallet and GreenWallet.

[ANN] Ashigaru, a fork of Samourai Wallet, has now been released (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5509931.0)

Samourai Wallet forked into ‘Ashigaru’ Open Source Project (https://cointelegraph.com/news/samourai-wallet-forked-ashigaru-open-source-project)

Nunchuk is one of the better bitcoin mobile wallets with taproot support, but there are other option available.
Safest options is to use hardware wallets, and I made a list of all Taproot supporting wallets, and you can find it in this topic:

When it comes to the "best" Taproot wallet (though the best wallet will depend on your needs and what fits your profile best), it's Sparrow Wallet and Bitcoin Core (if you're willing to download the entire Bitcoin network) and Wasabi/Ginger Wallet.

Most reputable hardware wallet manufacturers support Taproot.

I found it a bit difficult to use, but it's a wallet more recommended for those who want to do multi-sig with hardware wallets. I don't remember if it allows creating a single-sig hot wallet.

You can use Electrum and Bluewallet with their own advantages.

Electrum supports Android, but as of now does not support iPhone (iOS). If you're comfortable using the desktop version, Electrum is supported on macOS.
Bluewallet not only supports Android, but also iOS. The desktop version, according to the bluewallet.io website, is supported on macOS, but I don't use it.

Why Electrum and Bluewallet, because these wallets are trusted by their users, especially Electrum. Both wallets are specialized in Bitcoin.

Ashigaru, as a Samurai Wallet fork, also offers a privacy-focused, Bitcoin recovery solution with full user control. Its open-source nature ensures resilience and transparency for  Bitcoiners. You can lookup ashigaru as well.

Ashigaru requires a dojo node to be installed to broadcast and verify transactions. While great for privacy, it can be challenging for the more inexperienced.

Have you already CoinJoined through Ashigaru?

I read the request, and it made me wonder what can truly be considered a decentralized wallet. As I understand it, the issue is that the OP used a wallet that ceased to exist, so now they need one without an “off” button - something developed not by a company or a closed group of enthusiasts, but by the community as a whole.

I see several people here recommending Electrum and Blue Wallet. Do they really meet that requirement?
