Title: Be careful sharing other people about crypto
Post by: tech30338 on May 30, 2025, 07:14:59 AM
I Know that its good to share , or even post on social media about crypto or even profits, but nowadays this is getting dangerous , as there are people with bad intentions do to people whom they know that has a lot of money in crypto.
Maybe this is the reason why some are so hesitant to share info to other people, according to the news an investor kidnap the man and kept him in his apartment asking for the password of his bitcoin, maybe asking for the bitcoin wallet password i think.
I saw also a video of the person running out of the said apartment, so guys let us all be very careful, hope this post will be a lesson to those who flaunts there winnings or profit to social media, that might attract bad people.

Things like this is exactly the reason why I always advise cryptocurrency investors to keep their investment secret, because I don't see any reason why a cryptocurrency investor will be posting his or her cryptocurrency investment or profits online for others to see it look childish because you are  exposing your cryptocurrency investment to thefts, scammers and hackers. Less keep our crypto investment private to ourselves it's not safe out there anymore.

With all the news about related crimes, it really doesn’t feel safe anymore. Actually, even before these stories came out, I was never comfortable sharing that I have crypto holdings. It’s like painting a target on your back. people know you have access and can send it anytime.

Honestly, it’s even safer to say you have money in the bank, because if that gets stolen, it can be frozen or traced.

We can be successful with our crypto investments, but we really need to keep it low-key, or maybe hide it behind a legit business, so no one suspects anything. Just like Satoshi.

Just know the background of the person you are dealing with and if you know that person have means to do those heinous crimes then better shut your mouth for sharing information about Bitcoin especially on how much you earn from it.

Don't be so excited to discuss about how much you earn from crypto since there's no need for us to do that. We better shut our mouth and stay low key since this is better for our security.

We see lots of crimes happening to a crypto holder so we better be silent on everything and better don't give any hint that you are participating on any crypto activities. We don't know what other people thinks especially that anyone could do a crime especially if they are desperate and in need of money,

Apparently, this habit leads to risk of physical attacks that have been reported many times from people who were noisy with their Bitcoin and cryptocurrency experience and ownings.

Its not only crypto, its wealth in general. There is a common rule which should be followed by everyone, and it's "don't say more than you need to"
Meaning, someone is always listening, and not everyone is your friend. Even you frineds don't always have best in mind for you

No it is not. Except you are trying to attract investors you do no need to be talking about your financial situations in public. This applies to crypto or any other source of income you have and even other private information like your address and workplace.

Your digital footprint can never be completely erased, so be careful what you put out there.

Expose yourself in the name of having fun and fame then lose your asset easily to scammers and kidnappers, if we are to look well into the situation on the recent events of attacks related to crypto by kidnappers, such must have happened by the reason of their exposures to the public about their worth and what they do, to be honest, we are not doing ball these to impress anyone, because it could be of more harm to us than of any benefit.

The state is not safe for anyone who's into crypto currency investments because there are many bad people out there that's looking forward to take what does not belongs to them. This kind of discussion have been discussed many times about being secret with your crypto currency assets and it will keep coming up till tomorrow.
Although, a lot of people like sharing their experiences of crypto currency and other investments which they find profitable with others so that other people can also join them to make profits too, but it's obvious that even the next person might want to steal what you have from you. It's a good choice to becare with who you talk about crypto currency with.

In Cryptocurrency, you are your own bank if you fully understand this, you will not go around sharing your portfolio or even your personal information.
Part of investing in cryptocurrency is securing your portfolio and securing yourself. One of the ways to do this is to become discreet, practice discretion, don't be too open, and be easy to trust anyone it could get you in trouble if people know how much your worth because they can check your address on blockchain.

It is better not to publish anything we have on social media. Such actions can occur because of feelings of joy and wanting to celebrate something that has been achieved. Not only related to crypto assets in our wallets, but also the winnings we get from gambling or profits from trading. I still often see posts like that on social media. They may think that nothing bad can happen from their actions.
We must be wiser with what we share on social media or with others.

Be careful when you show off about your financial success and it's not just limited to crypto, if you are rich and living alone and also where the crime rate is high you're at risk. If you can afford move to a safer location or atleast try to be a lowkey. ;D

Social media and Privacy? No it doesn't exist together.

We have talked about this topic a few times before, but if it's for the good of newbies it's OK to repeat it.

If you have some hodlings (especially if they are worthy) and care about your safety, don't brag about your coins in real life and try to be anonymous online. It is up to you, some people need to make other people envious, but then don't be surprised if s*** happens and you get robbed, threatened or injured.

Basically, if someone shares their crypto ownership, there is the potential that they will open up opportunities for people with malicious intent to steal, either by force or by inducement, and I believe this is the source of the problem in every incident like this. Maybe discussions like this have been around a lot, but I think it still needs to be discussed so that it can be a lesson for anyone, not only for beginners, but also for someone who is experienced, because negligence can happen to anyone.

Therefore, I suggest that anyone should avoid the behavior of showing crypto ownership, even if there is a certain intention and reason to do so, then it is better not to do it at all, even I also see some crypto influencers in my country never show their ownership in full, because I believe this is all with the aim of preventing unwanted things from happening.

Nowadays, many investors are victims of scams without their knowledge, it is very important to protect the privacy of cryptocurrency investments. Cryptocurrency is a highly valuable digital asset at the moment, so if you invest in it, it is better not to tell anyone other than yourself, so you will be saved from scams or your own losses, you have to keep in mind that if you have invested in cryptocurrency and that too if you are the owner of a large amount of cryptocurrency, you will become the main target of hacking and criminals. Cryptocurrency basically gives you freedom, so you have to be aware of your cryptocurrency investment which will keep you safe.

I feel pity for those who don't know anything about crypto yet, because even those who are small and big investors are now scared of on boarding new people because of fear of been hunted by criminals.

Things shouldn't be going this way, anyways, it's not generally over because news about crypto is almost everywhere nowadays, so whoever cares will eventually stumble on what crypto is all about.

Crypto had already find it's way, now it's better to just keep ahel shut, Trump and America is doing what we should be doing and we also have this forum to keep spreading news about Bitcoin, it's hela enough.

Bitcoin investment is no doubt one of the fastest-growing investments that people want to be seen associating with. This is why they always want to show off, even when they do not have enough Bitcoin investment to match the show-off. Still wondering why these same people don't show off fiat as much as they show off Bitcoin, which is supposed to keep them anonymous.

News about crypto-related crimes is everywhere and no longer hidden. Anyone who reads all this and still tries to show off has himself to blame when things go bad for him. Bitcoin was made a private coin for a reason.

In the crypto space, the rate of physical attack is increasing, probably because alot of persons feel they can post or discuss their crypto asset to whoever they think is trustworthy of knowing their financial success. As a crypto enthusiast, you ought to be mindful about the people you tell your financial success.I keep saying this that, crypto thefts are not only limited online, there crypto thefts outside the internet that extort victims coins and still harm them.Don't disclose your financial success to your friends because you don't know the intention of your friends if it's positive or negative. Most people you call your friends are pained when they see you progress financially, they can go extra mile to kidnap or kill you all because you disclosed the amount of crypto you possess in your wallet.Let's be guided and keep our mouth shut not everybody deserves to know about our financial life.

Criminals are really targeting crypto holders right now thats just one of the reason why we have to be careful. Some people will go on social media to post their wallet on it, they will show everyone the amount of coin which they are holding, and people doing that are just endangering their life, because people that knows them already know what they worth, and they will start targeting them.

I know it’s a nice idea spreading about bitcoin, but when doing that, make sure you don’t reveal your location to people, and make sure you don’t reveal the amount you worth to people, just make sure you do everything possible to protect your identity.

This is exactly the reason why instead of spreading the news about crypto and inspiring others to invest because it has done valuable things in my life, I prefer to just keep that to myself and let the people think that I don’t have any connection to bitcoin and I don’t own any amount of bitcoin. That way, I won’t have to worry about my safety especially when I’m alone, and even with the safety of my family as well.

Crypto is highly expensive and valuable, so there’s no need to let the other people know that you’re into it, or you’re investing a good amount of bitcoin. It may sound inspiring on your part, but let’s accept the fact that it could only trigger envy and jealousy to those who are greedy with money.

Crypto needs privacy, so sharing about it wouldn’t be the best thing to do. You are only giving hints to the people around that you are better than them, because you have bitcoin that not anyone can afford, while they don’t have any.

Not only in crypto, but even with other assets that you own, everything should be held privately so that no one would plan to attack you and steal what you have. Most particularly for crypto where its price and value are undeniably impressive. Do not share about them, even to your closest friends and relatives.

The wrong impression about crypto that it’s a get rich quick also add to the people’s desire from wanting to steal our coins, so it’s always best to live a simple life and low key so that no one would get interested on us.

It is not good to post about cryptocurrency or profit in social media except for those that conducts class for cryptocurrency trading who will need to convince many people to come and learn as that will be a good testimony that will attract most people to join them, but not for people with private investment. Anybody who is mot a cryptocurrency influencer should not flunt or post profit made from cryptocurrency online as that will attract bad guys around you. I have seen and witnessed Alot of guys being kidnapped or being forced at hun point to reveal access to there wallet due to making unnecessary noise or shearing private information with friends and relatives. It is a bad habit to reveal your secret investment to the public, doing that is equal or tantamount to self distruction because surely guys will come for you.

Moral of the lesson is that we should completely avoid our privacy from social media if we don't want to put ourselves into trouble.

Yes, you can share ideas with people about crypto but don't tell them your seed phrases and your password that Link to your wallets, once you share your secrets that make your personal details safe, it will no longer be safe anymore because you have shared your personal details with people, and they can have access to your coins any time, I hope beginners will take this advice serious.

Aren't you contradicting yourself? Why do you think that sharing your successes is good? What will it give you? I see only bragging or vanity in this, which, as a result of bad behavior, sometimes turns out to be very unpleasant for some braggarts. Social networks are turning into a zone teeming with scammers these days, and if you write something there, especially something that will interest scammers, expect that they will pay attention to you. It is not clear if a person wants to live in peace, why does he talk about the amount of his funds? The desire for fame? Then we get news like someone was robbed or killed (add the necessary), but one way or another, they found out about him.

While it is tempting to share good news and recent events like New York kidnapping you mentioned prove that being open about your crypto can attract dangerous people. Like news of that investor being kidnapped for his Bitcoin keys and shocking escape video really highlight how risky this can be. This is why many crypto owners are now keeping their holdings private which is good. Your warning is also important boasting about crypto wins on social media or even telling friends too much can put you in serious danger. Everyone in crypto needs to put their safety first by being very quiet about their investments. This sad event should be serious wake up call for everyone to be much more careful with their cryptocurrency information.

With the way a lot of persons claims to be involved in crypto, it's easy to get carried away by sharing the worth of crypto you're holding with someone you assume is in the same niche with you. That's the area where I think it's easy to fall victim because someone can actually claim to be a fellow crypto investor and yet allowing him to know the worth of cryptocurrency you're holding might even endanger your life in the long run.

Another issue is the fact that most crypto enthusiast tends to network with themselves and share insight and personal information which can also become a source of threat if it gets to the right hand. You can't completely close your eyes to these sort of networks as it also has it own advantages but with the extent through which a lot of scammers have devices different means of stealing crypto from vulnerable holders, the best thing is to keep things to yourself regardless of the urge to let the next person know how much of crypto you're holding.

This sector requires a little caution. This caution is essential for your safety. It is best to hide from all this because when someone knows about it, they try to harm you in various ways. Before talking about crypto, you need to know if it is legal in your country and whether the person you are criticizing is interested in it. Many thieves will ask you for information about crypto so that they can scam you. It is better not to share the amount of your wallet investment. The more information you give about yourself in the online world, the more risk you will be in, so confidentiality about your investments plays a very important role.

There is a saying that says "wisdom is profitable to direct". Wisdom demands that, as crypto enthusiasts, you keep your identity and portfolio to yourself and if you must discuss anything of such nature with anybody, you should have a good knowledge of whom you are discussing with to be credible and trusted to not act funny because that is currently what is happening now, friends betyraying friends, attacks and lots more going on in the society. Not only that, we just ought to be very careful just like one of the replies here on this thread says that you do not know who is listening to you out there which is true, people these days get attacked and robbed and they have no clues who did that to them because they talk anyhow and might have said something out there which warranted such attack on them. We just ought to be careful the way we talk and also better we take caution and stay alert.

Be it crypto or physical business. We should always keep ourselves away from show off. Because by showing off, envy is created in the minds of other people. And with the current price of Bitcoin that has started to rise, if you share your Bitcoin money on social media, people will automatically think that you own a lot of money. So in my opinion, the more you can keep yourself away from show off, the better. And leading a normal life feels peaceful. And it is better to keep your identity secret in the crypto world.

As far as someone does not show off their financial success on social media. I don't think they will attract criminals. Most of those that criminals are attacking are people who are showing what they have achieved through cryptocurrency. If someone is just sharing normal things about cryptocurrency on social media.nobody will know they are worth a large amount of money. But as soon as you start telling people how much money you have made from trading or from a project you invested in, you are basically inviting criminals to target you.

The funny thing is, there are even some people who come on social media to claim what they don't actually have, just because they are trying to be influencers, To avoid falling into the hands of criminals, the habit of showing off on social media should be totally stopped. However, posting things like general information about crypto, in my opinion, can't lead to a criminal attack.

Yes, that’s true. it attracts scammers to you, and you may also be stalked and targeted by any means. I do not know what people who brag about their money and the amount of assets they own on social media gain from that.

As an old investor in the crypto market, I have never disclosed how much I own. . First of all, there’s absolutely no benefit in sharing that information, and no one gains anything from knowing what you have, except for those who might try to target and hunt you down.

This opens the doors of trouble for the investor. The amount of crypto or wealth an investor owns  and his financial matters should remain private and never be on forums or websites, as  there are strangers and scammers out there just waiting for an opportunity to set traps.

I have always prioritize my safety as an investor and I'm not going to go against it, because as a crypto Holder you will be seen by people as someone with a lot of money and that makes you a Target to scammers and criminals. I saw seen this news and it has made me to be more private in my personal life, Satoshi is a wise man and there's a reason why he is anonymous till date and I have adopted that part of him for my safety too. Talking about our profit or posting it on social media is more like inviting prey eyes on you.
Investing in Bitcoin is not a competition, so there is no reason for me to brag or pose on the internet. Obeying the simple rule of avoiding deep conversations that leads to giving out informations that could danger our lives, not just about Bitcoin or crypto investment but in all areas of our lives that is meant to be private, no longer problem known is a problem solved, every details of our lives should be bodied alone if worse than a single fight then can involve trusted persons, in regards to money and finance it is difficult to trust anyone, even families may not be whom we expected, minds of humans are different and extremely wicked, we just don't know until we lie with them.

If we don’t share bitcoin awareness, then it doesn’t make sense because their are people that really want to learn about bitcoin, so we are suppose to share our knowledge.

Why do you have to share your crypto seed phrase, your password and other confidential informations with people? If you are teaching anyone about bitcoin, then you should have a wallet that you have nothing in it, you can just create a new wallet, and use it to explain to anyone you are planning to teach about bitcoin. You should never show anyone you teaching about bitcoin your real wallet, they are not suppose to know what you worth because you can’t trust anyone, someone you are planning to help might want to hurt you, so  don’t show anyone your really investment.

I don't think anyone is that stupid and naive right now to give out their seed phrases to people they're trying to talk to about crypto, rather than saying don't give out your seed phrases, I'd rather say don't tell nobody about your crypto holding or the size of your portfolio, or any details about your personal finance.
I know that some might feel the need to do it with intentions of using it motivate people you're trying to talk to about Bitcoin, but pls don't, best you keep it to yourself, no matter how much you feel you trust that person

Crypto wasn't made anonymous for nothing, it was for the purpose of keeping your asset a secret, it's now left for anyone holding to decide whether they're gonna share to some trusted persons about their holding, well personally for me, I don't like sharing my financial information to anyone besides what's the point showing off your balance when the intention of the next person could be toxic towards you, irrespective of the fact that you have persons called friends who you share common thoughts with, your financial plans and goals should be kept out of the entire discussion because envy may come in when you over share, thinking you're just doing normal friends thing, I have heard of cases where people make plans for robbers to lay ambush on their friends, this world is wicked, so stay private and safe.

That is why people prefer to keep their information to themselves not just in cryptocurrency but in other aspects of life, especially where your source of income is coming from, because so many people laughing and claiming to be your friend are not really who you think they are.

They have evil intentions towards you, even some family members. If there is ever a time when we need to lead a quiet and private life, now is the time. But is is increasingly difficult as the world, on one hand, doesn't want that. They want to be in your business. Our smartphones are spying on us that's why their batteries are built-in, collecting our data. The government is doing the same thing, and even social media sites are doing the same thing. They will tell you that they are not collecting your information, but that is not true.

IT's not only about crypto. The richest people in the world, crypto or fiat, you don't know about them. Why? Because they want to keep it that way.
Sure you know about monkeys like Musk, Gates and a couple of others, but the real power whales, you have no idea who they are. Trust me, Musk is the richest only of the known people, yet he dwarfs in comparison to some really wealthy people

I think that I've read an article or watched some documentaries that there are people who are wealthier than Elon, Bill and the rest of the top wealthiest people that are written about and known by the public. It's true that they keep that list to themselves and they don't want people to know them that they're the real ones that are richer than the rich that we know of. And as for the crypto rich folks, there is no need to be flaunting of your assets publicly. There is nothing you'll get there but only the people who are jealous of your progress.

Some you need to share and some you need to keep. I think long-time crypto users understand this. Share what is necessary means share what they need to know from the basics to the broader by not sharing your secrets such as wallets, private keys, seeds, passwords. The point is don't share what can make you lose assets. Maybe one of them we become Bitcoin ambassadors because by sharing there will be more and more bitcoin users. Despite losing time I think it's not a big deal about sharing info about Bitcoin.

The only thing that a crypto holder should share is the knowledge and profit of holding an asset like Bitcoin, going beyond that can put the person at risk because crypto related crimes are on the increase. For people that have enormous stash they should never make the mistake of sharing what they are worth otherwise they have unintentionally put a searchlight on themselves for robbers to attack them. Also we shouldn't make reference to somebody's crypto worth that was disclosed to us in confidence by using it as a case study to show how crypto is profitable, the innocent person might become a target of kidnap and robbery

Just know the background of the person you are dealing with and if you know that person have means to do those heinous crimes then better shut your mouth for sharing information about Bitcoin especially on how much you earn from it.

To be honest, it is not necessary to know the person background before telling them about cryptocurrencies or investing. Nowadays, you might see individuals change from good to evil, even someone close to you since childhood may set you up or target you because they see you doing better than them. Not everyone will be happy with your achievement, I've seen situations where someone hires criminals to take out his brother to have control over his wealth.

Quote
Don't be so excited to discuss about how much you earn from crypto since there's no need for us to do that. We better shut our mouth and stay low key since this is better for our security.

We see lots of crimes happening to a crypto holder so we better be silent on everything and better don't give any hint that you are participating on any crypto activities. We don't know what other people thinks especially that anyone could do a crime especially if they are desperate and in need of money,

The world is getting scary and people do not want to work to make their own money, they are jealous of others who work and succeed around them, we must learn to keep our own secrets to ourselves. We owe no one an explanation, especially when we are in dangerous areas, we must learn from those who have been kidnapped or rubbed because it might happen to any of us if we don't mind telling people how much money we have and how much we make, humans are really wicked.

The only person besides yourself who should know about your investments should be a family member who should have access to your wallet in case an accident happens to you. Since there are a lot of similar stories, when the Seed phrase was "buried" along with its owner and family members could not use the result of the investment.

This aspect of managing our Bitcoin investment is a little tricky and even complicated because it has to do with security as well. If you remember that some family members can even do what you don't expect, you will be discouraged from sharing such sensitive information with anyone. I have seen many recommendations on how to manage this but there have never been a generally adopted method that is suitable for all considering the peculiarity of each individual. While it is important someone must know about our investment and how to access in case one is no more since we don't own our lives, we should just be careful who we trust with such information. One idea that made sense is to separate the Bitcoin into different wallets in a way that will reflect our will and give the information to our beneficiaries accordingly.

Of course, it would be nice not to tell anyone and have full control over your money, but I believe that someone, the closest person in your family, should know where the seed phrase is kept and how to access those funds. Life is unpredictable, and anything can happen, some accident or misfortune, and those funds could become inaccessible to everyone. That would be a real shame, especially if your family is left without you and no one else is there to take care of them. This way, they would have access to those funds, and it would be a huge support for them.

We have to manage this aspect of Bitcoin our self, which is who will take control of our Bitcoins in case we cease to exist. If you don't want your Bitcoins to sit idle forever on blockchain then it's necessary that someone beside you has the necessary information to access them. Life is uncertain and we have to timely make that decision during our life. Their are relations in our lives to whom we can trust like our parents, wife, kids, it's better to select the appropriate person and handover him/her the necessary material related to accessing Bitcoins as soon as possible.

All I can say is that we should continue to be careful, because not many of us will be as lucky as this Man. Just imagine what would have happened to him had he not the opportunity to run away. As bitcoin prices keeps soaring higher, criminally minded people will start targeting those that has been, or are still flunting bitcoin activities on social media. Bitcoin is self custodian, so I don't see any reason why you will be showing off your activities on social media. Unless you have a bitcoin training institution and you need to get more people on you platforms. But as someone who don't have any thing like that, not even your wife should know that you have bitcoin.

Share about crypto, but don't share about your holdings. Nothing wrong if you share about crypto with new people. It's a crypto adaptation as well. But always remember to hide your holdings. Just tell them you are doing trading with a small fund and will develop day by day. Because you don't know who is a criminal inside. When people know about your holdings, they might attempt to harm you somehow. It's very important to protect your privacy always. Even we must protect our privacy from our family as well.

Recently I have shared about crypto with my nearest friend. I am teaching them about crypto and trading. I send them some crypto as well. But I haven't shared about my holdings. Since I am not holding big funds in a centralised exchange, they know I have only small funds. I care about privacy because a friend could be an enemy at any time, and they might harm me as well.

Its not only crypto, its wealth in general. There is a common rule which should be followed by everyone, and it's "don't say more than you need to"
Meaning, someone is always listening, and not everyone is your friend. Even you frineds don't always have best in mind for you

You have said it all, there is this saying that the only person that want to be more you is just yourself that is to say generally no one should be trusted no matter the level of closeness and even if we have to do trust let their be a security consciousness written in our minds, it is true that not all people we share our life success and achievement are genuinely happy with us some can have more than you do but doesn't want any things good to come your way, this people can be very close to us as friends and most times even family members but however, our safety is in the hand of our creator while we can not be ignorant of being conscious of ourselves at all times.

I don’t know why exposing those richest people in the universe becomes a trend, since that only steal their privacy and make them prone to danger. Although they are well-guarded, but still the fact that the whole universe know your riches, that’s something that these people should be worried of.

Meanwhile, there’s no really good outcome when you flaunt your investments or even your achievements in the social media. That is just attracting envy, and let’s face the fact that your success may not bring everyone’s happiness, so be careful what’s you’re exposing on the crowd.

What is the use of posting about your profits on social media or even discuss it in public, i think having such mentality is the reaso2why many people fall into trap of criminals most of the recent kidnapping in my area are carried out using informations that are let out by individuals, so why should any put themselves on high risk by posting they cryptocurrency activities and involvement online.

Privacy is key and we need to start taking that seriously, by minding what we let out in public.

There is one thing people think about those who are into bitcoin and crypto at large. This misconception is peddled by those who knows little/nothing about cryptocurrency. So, if you eventually introduce yourself offline or online as a cryptocurrency person, their idea of you changes and they'll automatically think that you are a millionaire.

They don't even know that there are people who has less than $50 worth of crypto and yet they are cryptocurrency investors. This is why you should be able to abundantly hide yourself or not present yourself as overly rich before your peers, family or loved ones.
