Title: Has what happened to Tottenham happened before to any club Post by: _act_ on June 05, 2025, 09:49:58 PM Did you know that Tottenham automatically qualified for UEFA Champions League next season? But the club relegated this season. That means the club will have to play in Championship next season (which is a lower league to Premier League) but compete with tough club in Champions League. The club qualified because it won the Europa League.
Have you seen a club in England that relegated but qualified for Champions League? Edit: Sorry for the misinformation, Tottenham was the 17th and not relegated. Title: Re: Has what happened to Tottenham happened before to any club Post by: hosemary on June 05, 2025, 11:23:06 PM Tottenham didn't relegate to the championship and next season, they will play in the premier league again.
In the past season, Tottenham ended the premier league at the 17th place and the teams ending the premier league at the three lowest positions (Leicester City, Ipswich and Southampton) relegated to the championship. I think they're the first one to finish close to relegation but get the UCL still, so that's a wild achievement at the end of the day. I don't know if this is enough to change any rules, though, since it's hard to imagine a 16th club play so much better in Europe for the 2nd or 3rd time. I think there's a rumour to suggest that Ange is getting sacked regardless of that, so clearly it's not an acceptable excuse for some owners.

The club qualified because it won the Europa League. Tottenham was never relegated to the Championship, the three teams relegated were Ipswich, Southampton and Leicester. Tottenham will be playing in the champions league because they won the Europa league whose winner automatically qualify for the champions league. Tottenham is not the first club enjoying that privilege but on the basis of relegation, I don't know if there have been a time a relegated team played in the champions league. Have you seen a club in England that relegated but qualified for Champions League? The club qualified because it won the Europa League. Tottenham Hotspur was not relegated to championship, but rather they were closed to the relegation zoon on 17th position in the premier league table. Which is totally a poor performance from Tottenham Hotspur last season. To be honest Tottenham Hotspur seems quite annoying in the premier league last season. because had it been they didn't won Manchester united in the Europe league title they would have ended up in the premier league next season.Have you seen a club in England that relegated but qualified for Champions League? But the club relegated this season. The three relegated clubs are Southampton, Ipswich, and Leicester. Tottenham are not relegated, but if they were and maybe still won the Europa League as they did to qualify for the Champions League, then maybe it would have been possible to have them still play in the Champions League from the Championship. It has not happened before, but it could have been a first, I think. The only sad reality is that they can't do well even if they are playing just in the champions league and might eventually get beaten from the league which will give them one of the worse league they have hard in a while. If not that they've been really unlucky with games, Tottenham Hotspur is above the level of those teams that should be at the relegation spot. Well, that hasn't happened yet but we can't rule out that possibility in future. Sitting at 17th position on the table, Tottenham nearly escaped relegation by the teeth, beating the three bottom feeders. Anyway, somehow I would've loved for it to happen so we see how such a situation is handled. Rules and laws aren't permanent. They're subject to change and amendment.BTW, the Champions league towers above every league in the world. It's the reason various champions of different leagues converge to compete in it. Even if a club relegates in a league but plays in the Champions league, I will rate it a champion. I think you're mistaken Tottenham Hotspur for other team, because the last time I checked Tottenham Hotspur was in 17th position so I don't know how they managed to be in the relegation zone all of a sudden, I think you need to make a recheck . Well talking about about a club in English that relegated but qualified for champions league..... Honestly I think this is almost impossible because your performance in your domestic league will determine if you can be able to win the champions league title or not, just imagine teams like Ipswich or Southampton wining the champions league title when you and I know how terrible Thier performance was? Don't you see that this is almost impossible? Title: Re: Has what happened to Tottenham happened before to any club Post by: _act_ on June 06, 2025, 08:42:12 AM Thanks for the correction, I thought Tottenham was in 18th position but I now known the club was on 17th position. The club did not relegate and it will play in English Premier League next season.
