Thanks to local payouts, he cancelled, and got his money back, and I got what he rented. I will be sending some him some btc for the hassle however. Back online. Auto-Cancellations do seem to be working as intended. It is taking a lot less effort to work out refunds and extensions when rigs go completely offline.
