Title: Have any cards that just dont hash like they used to?
Post by: PhattyBanks on April 03, 2014, 02:43:30 AM
I have a 7970 ghz vaporx x that mined at 755khash for 5 months straight no problems, but since the other day it wont go over 680 khash. Does mining literally wear these cards out so they won't mine/game like they did when they were new?

Ive tried every config, it'll start out at around 730khash then drop down to around 680

I havent tried it in a different machine yet

It might be overheating. Have you checked its temperatures?

my guess is that the diff has gone up. mine some random new scrypt coin with low hash rate and see what you get.

the only other thing is you need to keep your card dust free. this will ensure that its running nice and cool.

I've got a 290X that reliably did 882kh/s (920E/1500M) precisely for 3 months, but a couple of weeks back it crashed without warning, and now from a cold start it will only run at 825kh/s (875E/1375M).

After 30 minutes' hashing, once it's warmed up, you can set it back to 920/1500 and it's fine.

All that constant hot running certainly has scope to make "alterations" to the layout of the board!
