I'm still have a little knowledge about Bitcoin. But I’ve been curious about Bitcoin mining, is it really possible to mine Bitcoin using an Android phone?
I have seen a several apps claiming to do this, but I am not sure how legit or profitable they are. I really appreciate any honest insights or advice from you guys. Thanks in advance.

Such apps are usually scam.. they tell you to invest certain amount to a mining pool and get returns on a specific period of time... Avoid them at all cost..

I'll try to break it down for you... bitcoin mining requires very powerful computational power to compete with other miners all trying to solve a complex mathematical puzzle. The first miner to solve it gets to add a block of verified Bitcoin transactions to the blockchain and in return receives the newly mined bitcoins as a reward. So literally you mobile device doesn't have such computational power to compete...

If you want to mine bitcoin, you will need to get yourself ASIC like the one manufactured by Not main which are called Ant miners. They are expensive. I will advise you to join a mining pool, but that depends on your affordability.

Although, mobile phone can not be used to mine bitcoin, but mining is more than this today because most profitable miners today join mining pool. Most mined blocks are mined by mining pools. Most miners today joined mining pools with better miners (ASICs).

Although, there are still some solo miners that are lucky.

Dude, seriously, if you try such a thing, be ready to get a new phone. Mining bitcoin with a smartphone will first of all impact your battery life by draining and consuming your phone's energy, leading to your device getting spoilt.

No doubt, modern smartphones are more powerful than the first computer that was invented in the 1940s. But still, when it comes to Bitcoin mining, there are far more advanced and specialized computers for the job.

No, you can't mine bitcoin even using the most powerful android we have. No CPU/GPU can't compete with the hashrate produced by ASIC and right now even solo mining with ASICs is like winning a lottery that happens once in a while. Don't waste your mobile's hardware if you see an app claiming Bitcoin mining.

Another tip, cloud mining is also popular scheme that's nothing but scam as well.

You could mine other cryptocurrencies easier on mobile but careful what app you use or it will burn out your battery if your overclock it

Most are just shitcoins and scams anyway. OP was mainly interested in Bitcoin for a reason Those are complete scams. Do not even bother downloading them, or you will end up compromising your device with some stupid malware claiming to be a mining app.

No, it's not possible. Mining BTC requires ASICs units if you want to mine BTC.
Android phones is not built to mine BTC and other crypto.

Don't ever try to mine any altcoins with your phone. It would end up overheating that can cause your phone dead or explode.

If you want to mine altcoin then build a rig or buy a ASIC units.

It is good you are looking into Bitcoin mining. While it sounds interesting to mine with Android phone it is generally not possible. Bitcoin mining requires huge computing power that specialized machines like ASICs have which are vastly more powerful and efficient than any phone. Trying to mine on your phone would just waste of time. Many mining apps for phones are actually scams that show you ads or trick you into cloud mining schemes which are also very risky. Instead of trying to mine it is usually much safer and more effective to buy Bitcoin directly from trusted exchanges.

Bitcoin mining industry has gone through long history with many developments and changes from CPU, GPU, FPGA and AISC mining. Nowadays, times for CPU mining and GPU mining no longer exist so it's unrealistic to mine Bitcoin with Android phone.

If you see offers from mining applications on Android phones or any mobile devices, you must pay attention and assess whether it is like Ponzi offers. Also stay away from Cloud mining offers that are certainly scam.

Don't waste time mining mobile phone, this might damage the mobile devices if you continue running it, besides you don't know what really the application is doing in you're mobile phone, remember some mobile app can, harvest information and sensitive data especially if its a scam, invest on a real bitcoin miner like ASIC this device is really design for bitcoin mining unlike mobile phone.

Damage or destroy your mobile phone is not a worst thing and there are other risks of your phone compromised and many data will be hacked including your accounts, Bitcoin and cryptocurrency wallets and even more like passwords saved on that phone.

Don't be too greedy, too careless and install many applications on your phones especially applications that come with money offers and too good to be true offers. Be cautious with such application offers, and avoid those applications at any cost. If you install such applications on your phones, likely you will pay very high cost especially if you store your money / cryptocurrencies on that phone.

They're not legit. They're not profitable. So, forget about it. Don't even consider profit because it doesn't work.

Since you're curious about Bitcoin mining, you might also stumble upon cloud mining. You dismiss that as well.

Your point is absolutely correct because sometimes they do such an update that makes good mobile phones bad, but they can do small work in it as if it is not such a big project. This is also quite a strong point because sometimes there are projects in which mining is done to hack, due to which people are cheated in this way. This is also useful, but those who take steps slowly start working in such a way that they are not even seen whether they are right or wrong.

The computational power for mining bitcoin has gone beyond android capability for over a decade now.

All application or software speaking such lie either wants to scam you or wants to benefit something from you unknowingly majorly through ads.
The popular one I knew those years that I know claim to mine bitcoin for you when you use their browser wasn't really mining rather was just giving you a little amount through ads and others they gained from you, this is the cryptoTab. It paid but it doesn't matter because before you might get to the minimum withdrawal you have given up already since it won't even worth anything and it would just continue gain from you and your device would be taking the burns which may eventually crash.

I was thinking of a different reason why he would've to get a new phone, which has nothing to do with system requirements. Chances are that scammers offer these apps (especially in Android, which I don't use, so I don't really know) which promise convert your smartphone in a mining machine, like the OP said. If that's the case, I guess that they are simply looking for your data in reality, when it is not malware directly.

You are just going to waste your time on it. If you want to mine Bitcoin and potentially earn profit from it, you'd need a sizable investment to have a proper Bitcoin mining rig.

Yeah, you can possibly mine bitcoin using your android phone but getting a legit mine app is where the problem is because there are thousands of applications out there but only few that is legit and they are very hard to get so to avoid choosing the wrong mining app in the process of trying to find the right one I will advice you just wait until you get the basic knowledge about bitcoin investment and then look for a capital to start with instead of hunting for this fake Mining applications as a beginner is this crypto space you need to avoid this bitcoin mining of a thing because they're all scammers.

Don’t give OP false hope, although you gave OP a choice of investing at the end which is still good and I think that was what you should have emphasized on in the first place, the possibility of him finding a software that actually does that is 0.1% unless he fall a victim of cryptojacking (https://www.malwarebytes.com/cryptojacking).. So if OP can get the dedicated hardwares to pursue his Bitcoin Mining goal then he better not try searching for other alternatives  to mine Bitcoin as they are all likely to be scam..

Since there's really no way that you became profitable for doing android mining. Legitimate mining hardwares cost lots of $ so anyone offering you such schemes like that is obviously a scam.

So better save yourself for those scams and better find other things on where you can spend your money. Scammers won't get anything from people if they don't let those scammers take their money, so be vigilant always on what you are seeing online since there's provably lots of schemes like this will provably continue to exist.

And when trying to set up a Bitcoin mining farm, it is very expensive because the kind of devices that are needed for Bitcoin and talk of the amount of electricity to power the ant miners, so with all this technology needed, it shows that when you are not finacially cpable there is now way that you will be able to set up such technology so there is no way that you can mine bitcoin with your phone because with everything we have ssen about ant minners i think people hould know that a ant minner farm is what is needed to set it up is money so any information about setting anything up with a phone false so people need to have this orientation because when you dont know am sure there people that will fall for things like this and some might even get scamed in the process and all this because of lack of informtion when you know some things are not even debayable.  

Most of the mobile mining app are scam and you can hardly find a real one. If you really want to mind then it's better to choose computer to mine or even better spend money to buy mining gear although you will have to spend money to setup a mining rig. It might not be good for some people in a country where electricity isn't cheap so, if you don't want to spend so much money then you should try different ways to earn cryptocurreny. Yes bitcoin mining can be done on mobile phones but as supposed this can't be effective or productive due to lack of processing power. Today mining is dominated by ASiCs hardware with high computational power making mining very competitive. But trust me bitcoin mining on mobile devices isn't practical today, but you can earn micro quantities from faucets or running a lightening network on some android setups which isn't mining but a small way of supporting the network. In summary don't fall for crap app that claims to be bitcoin mining apps, those are likely scams

Buddy, that's not actual mining that people do on their phones using apps that mine for them in the background or even when the app is closed if they click a button once every 24 hours, just like how PI and its app used to work, or still works, maybe. Those apps are basically just assigning you a certain amount of tokens or coins every 24 hours based on how many people you have invited, etc. By the end of their so-called mining period, they generate the tokens or coins that all their users have mined through their TGE, and then distribute them accordingly. If the token gets listed, and tends to get a good market value, you might earn something from it, otherwise, you just wasted your time with it.

The point is, you are not mining anything with those apps, they've just used the word mining to attract more people, or make it sound cool or something. :)

Even if I didn't understand mining, I wouldn't try to mine bitcoin on an Android phone. I can imagine how easily an Android would overheat when its hardware is continuously working for minutes at a time. So because of the effects of excessive heat - Android can explode more easily because the components inside cannot withstand temperatures exceeding capacity.

Fortunately, mining apps using Android are less likely to be identified as scams. I don't want anyone to fall prey to such schemes and they should avoid them at all costs. The easy of profit is often the reason some people fall into this trap - but they face bad consequences after the time.

It's fake that you can mine Bitcoin on android phones. What they do is show you some graphics that may look like you're mining. But the real deal is nothing is happening behind that.

You need ASICs, powerful miners for you to mine Bitcoin and using a mobile phone will just destroy your phone because of the heat. Or it might not even work from the beginning.

Even powerful desktop/laptop computers are not recommended for Bitcoin mining because of huge hash rate. Those who want to mine Bitcoin have to buy expensive special devices (ASIC devices) that require round the clock connectivity and also consume too much energy. Bitcoin mining is an expensive thing these days and those with huge capital can afford it. Those who can't afford bitcoin mining must go for bitcoin buying through DCA. If someone is interested in mining on mobile phone then he must look for Alts whose mining is profitable on mobile devices.

I'm confuse about what you have said here. But I guess you miswrite the word you are using and what you mean is its not possible to mine Bitcoin using android phones, I hope that's what you mean.

Also maybe they got the idea like this similar on Pi coin on which lots of their airdrop participant get their share thru phone mining that what they have said. But for Bitcoin its not really possible since miners need special rig and it cost a lot before they can effectively mine Bitcoins.  Its risky to do mining on phones and join those programs operated by unknown people. Since aside that their money is at huge risk from scams, their data is also in huge risk especially that they might give it to scammers which might use their identity for those crimes they do online.

I know I have heard people saying this that bitcoin can be mined using an android phones, but haven't heard anyone saying that he or she mined bitcoin using his or her android phone. Although am not really into all this technical stuffs but I have little knowledge on them. Am not even a miner but I know that what miners use in mining , as in to solve those mathematics are computers. Secondly mining consume a lot of electrical energy, so even if you can mine bitcoin using your android don't you think that you won't get the result your are looking for? and don't you think that mining bitcoin using your android phone can damage the phone?


As for those apps claiming to be mining apps they are all scam, so avoid them and  avoid being scam. If possible you can join a mining pool if you really want to be a miner.

I remember few apps similar to this discussion in 2021, my blood relative came and told me that I wasted money on Asic miners that Bitcoin can be mined on a smartphone, I told her goodluck.

Since then I never heard anything again, it was her son that told me how she was scammed because to withdraw the Bitcoin a month later some Bitcoin must be deposited first, her thinking it's fair enough she deposited some Bitcoin.

The app did showed that the withdraw is on the way, till today it's still pending, she was scammed and too shame about it to tell me what went wrong, how can some people be spending thousands of dollars on equipment and you want the easy way out?

I feel it's so unfair of her and only greedy people do such things without doing their own research or they just want to believe that there are other short paths they can take.

I am very doubtful about this given that mining cryptocurrencies require a very strong processing power unit. This is exactly the reason on why most miners use high-end graphics card for maximum power and computation in order to mine BTC. Additionally, mining produces tons of heat as its by-product, which also requires a strategic location in setting-up their mining equipments.

If you stumble across an application designated to mine BTC, then they are MOST likely a scam. You CANNOT mine using your android phone given the required equipment for it. If that application asks for your personal information and even anything related with security, then delete the app and never consider it again.

If you truly want to mine OP, then I highly suggest that you visit the mining board in this forum and/or utilize the search bar located at the top-right corner of your screen to search any related questions.

You can ask Google or in-chat AI site/app about bitcoin mining and devices that are needed or required to mine one.
Obviously phone or any smartphone is not suited device to  mine bitcoin, it's obviously a scam, wants to lure you for too good to be true offer, so beware from those sites.

This is just a blatant scam. Not less not more. Moreover it's clear with this claim they are trying to get people ignorant join them = download an app that has no senso and probably contains some trojans.

you cant mine bitcoin with your phone. all those android app claiming to mine bitcoin are all fake just like Hatchy has said, when i was a newbie into this system i came across them and i did all but i couldn't get anything in return . bitcoin algorithm and computation power is too strong to run on android phone. most of this app claims to pay you in bitcoin or in  Sats for the work you do, but that is not mining. most times scammers can send you a virus like malware, Trojan horse, spyware in form of ads or app claiming be a mining app, immediately you install it on your android device, you have just given them the permission to access your device and that could be the end, because all your secret are no longer safe because they now have total control of your device. so its better to stay clear from those type of app that claim to mine bitcoin because no android is mining bitcoin.

Even with that claim, you sure haven’t seen it all as, more would be developed and sent in different stores just to get people downloading and using while, consuming both their data, energy and time.

There was never a time when mobile devices were used to mine Bitcoin, the closest it got was with Desktop computers with GPUs can serve the purpose and that was from a long time ago, during the genesis stage of Bitcoin.

Now, it’s only sophisticated ASIC devices, Bitmain Antminers and more which are specially designed for the purpose and they aren’t cheap. We’ve come too far to mine using just mobile phones.

Go and mine PI, since many newbies sees mining as something running on screen and showing hash power, they never do research how the whole thing works, why can't iPhone hardware works in a android phone? Why can't Mac cpu work on a Intel motherboard? They should, if you believe that mining is just this easy.

Android mining are all fake, even few coins that claim their coins can be mined on phone like ETN (Electroneum) is all lies, that thing is based on cloud like mining, it's not using your phone GPU or Cpu, same thing as PI and few others, they are not real mining. Bitcoin mining can't work on computer and they next thing you can think of is how you will mine Bitcoin using a smartphone? Stop looking for what's not lost, buy some Bitcoin and hold.

I believe OP realised about the mining apps scam. There is no way to mine Bitcoin through mobile apps. You definitely need to buy mining equipment to mine Bitcoin. It isn't so easy to mine Bitcoin; you have to calculate everything, including energy cost. I know you may find some websites or apps that offer so-called cloud mining, which is a pure scam. They will offer you to buy hashrates to mine Bitcoin; everything is just fake.

You are actually talking about a Ponzi scheme. Probably earlier investors get some payments from Ponzi, but most of the investors will end up with a scam. Just be careful; don't hand over your funds to the scammer. Don't be greedy; if you really want to mine Bitcoin, then study more about it. A lot of information you would get from the internet.
