When you discover that people are not well informed about doing something, then it's a a result of their negligence in taking responsibility over what they should have been doing, this is why the simple acronym DYOR which is do your own research is useful and at the same time helpful for those who have taken time to learn on doing things by their own. Title: Re: Doing your own Research on Bitcoin Post by: Oshosondy on July 30, 2025, 02:39:00 PM If you want to make research about the price of bitcoin, you need to know what halving is and how the price of bitcoin will increase towards and after halving. Also how the third year after halving may be of the bear market.
They said there may not be bear market in this coming one which is 2026 but I still do not believe yet. I will prefer not to hold bitcoin much at the time and buy back later in 2027. People can make use of the chart of exchanges for the analysis by setting it to 1 month or sites like Coingecko or Coinmarketcap can be used instead. Like you rightly noted, a lot of people blindly follow the "expert advice" of so called influencers online and end up regretting. It has happened numerous times and would likely continue to happen cause a lot of people are just not willing to take out time to do a bit of research themselves.
With bitcoin, lots of people still don't understand what it is and cause people are always skeptical about what they don't understand, they follow the ignorant bunch to spew lies and misinformation. But that hasn't deterred the growth and adoption of bitcoin. Today, more people have adopted and using bitcoin than ever with its price steadily beating expectations from critics. Yeah, both Bitcoin and cryptocurrency are involved in the risks; it's just that they has a limit on like, the trading. But the best way to avoid the risks in both of them is what you’ve mentioned earlier, which is to do our own deep research on how they operate. Because even though people say that there are a lot of risks in the Bitcoins, and you know how you can handle it by calculating the risks that are involved, you will never have a problem with the Bitcoins and cryptocurrency. • It will help you understand the purpose of bitcoin and it's long term potential instead of only focusing of its short term price movement.. Title: Re: Doing your own Research on Bitcoin Post by: alegotardo on July 31, 2025, 01:21:06 PM What you wrote is very pertinent, and indeed... many guys neglect the care they should takes when search for reliable sources when conducting their own research and end up making decision based on hype (what's trending at the moment) or on influencers who dont actually care about others... some theys are just want to gain views and sponsorships by promoting fraudulent schemes or schemes that probably won't result in profit... quite the opposite, in losses.
There are several examples of people who have fallen for million-dollar scams... they invested money in fraudulent schemes, sometime even taking out large loans with the promise of high profits, or sometimes selling cars and properties to get more money into the scheme... then when they discover the fraud, it's too late. Regarding DYOR I'd just like to emphasize... before joining any project, thoroughly study the blockchain, whitepapers, research the tokenomics, roadmap and team history... as much as you can. And of course, count of the Bitcointalk community to answer any questions. Title: Re: Doing your own Research on Bitcoin Post by: AVE5 on July 31, 2025, 01:42:24 PM Always start from basic concepts as it will help to build a solid foundation. I will also recommend that you read the white paper of bitcoin.. it contains key purposes for it creation. I think you make a very valid point here and to be honest, the bitcoin white paper contains the basic informations that explains better the graphics of bitcoin because, the talks about the bitcoins volatile and it risk on holding isn't seem enough contents for newbies who wants to extremely explore in the cryptography system. Learning from the origin about what Satoshi Nakamoto oversighted on the creation of decentralized blockchain can be convinceable to why an individual should consider it thoughtful and see it necessary. And coming into the world to enhance your exploration in how it's realistically achieved by researching would seem less difficult to be understood and therefore, ignites you to be concious of where you derives your informations noting that the space is decentralized and everyone be suspecious to likely be selfish to lure others with wrong informations. As the history and origin of cryptocurrencies may be imply, the basic acknowledgements from the White paper will enlighten you to look into the potentialities and the use cases of any coin before adopting it. So, making research on your own without relying on third party such as the media influencers or individuals may not be a freak to you because you'd be at the better position to figure what information or system of the cryptograph is a real and fake one. Interestingly, you wouldn't be vulnerable to be convinceable by a third party or anyone else but solely relies on your own research before taking your decisions. Conducting research for beginners who want to know more about Bitcoin, or those who actually want to invest in Bitcoin, will be very important. Some are interested in investments, some are interested in Bitcoin mining, but others prefer trading because they are skilled at it. You can DYOR about it as well but bitcoin is the first cryptocurrency that has been able to give us that freedom we always wanted from the government. Even if we know that they just won't let's us enjoy decentralisation to the fullest, but there's just this gap that keeps us away from the reach of the government..
Im happy that op Included bitcointalk as a place to get information from because many times alot of newbies fails to recognise the fact that this forum has all the necessary information you need and people who are willing to teach you all you want to know about cryptocurrency and bitcoin at large.. Title: Re: Doing your own Research on Bitcoin Post by: CryptSafe on July 31, 2025, 03:06:47 PM As the saying goes, "information is powerful" We have to equip ourselves with information as it pertains to Bitcoin and all that has to do with its safety and usage. At first, safety is very important because after purchasing bitcoin, in order to be able to hold it for a long time, you will have to keep it safe, and that requires you to hold it in a self-custodial wallet, which is vital because that would guarantee your asset safety on your path.
However, I have come to realize that people are more concerned with just purchasing bitcoin since they were told its value keeps appreciating over time, which would mean profit to them. They also fail to tell them about the safety and protection of their assets or investment, if you like. Little wonder that many investors keep their assets with third-party exchanges because they have no much knowledge of existing wallets and their security features; otherwise, they would not bother themselves with third parties to say. Good research would expose one to the essences, benefits, and also safety measures to be taken to ensure they secure or protect their assets because like they say "information is powerful" and this research would help them to have a wider and broader view and perspective of what they are really signing up for so as to be able to stay and play safe to not make any silly mistakes as the case may be. Ultimately, fear is only experienced by traders, not investors. what are your thoughts on the four year cycle from now on? I feel split 70% chance it keeps happening and 30% it will change this time because too many people are expecting for it we'll see what happens but I'm mostly expecting a >50% correction in 2026. we'll probably see easier bear markets than 2018 and 2022. Another place is the entire web itself and all that you need is right there along with some garbage, you just get to filter the source out of it and don’t trust an information because it’s appealing.

The knowledge you get from your own study may actually not be enough to keep you away from scams, especially the sophisticated ones. This is simply because research is also a skill, and you may not be skilled enough for your research to be in-depth and thorough. On the side of research, you have to be very sincere with yourself about where you belong. If you're an individual who knows that your research skills are not very thorough, you have to invest time into sharpening your research skills before trying to do research concerning cryptocurrency. Title: Re: Doing your own Research on Bitcoin Post by: Sanitough on August 12, 2025, 10:11:52 PM bitcointalk is a good place to learn more about the technical side of btc and keep up with politics and world economics, but not the best place to research altcoins, defi, nfts and opportunities in the crypto markets, for this X and discord will probably do a better job. If you are here for bitcoin solely, bitcointalk is a perfect avenue. Though DYOR is still required, but at least you can minimize it from doing so since the forum offers already informative ideas and information. But if you are here for both bitcoin and altcoins, since altcoins are less discussed in the forum, then going outside the forum is a good catch. welcome to the forum, enjoy the content here! However, it’s undeniable that there are positive outcomes that we can gain from doing DYOR. But we all know it never ends there, one should clearly understand everything that he got from his research and further studies, that’s the most important thing to do. I will advice all newbies who are here in this forum to always ask questions here if they come across any offer they doubt or any challenge at all. They'll be sure of getting a good number of genuine replies from members here. That's the privilege they get for being here There is no misleading information on like scams and fraud on Bitcoin internet, the worst is that query search engines are not helping at all because when you ask them for some information, instead of showing things you need, they give people a personalized ads first because that's the only language they know best, they don't check the ads they list for people. Many people have fell for this scams over and over and the personalized crypto ads never ends. If you enter Google now and search for anything about Ledger nano, there is high chance of you see Ledger ads but the link isn't actually legder website, it's a phising link that will ask people for either there private keys or seed phrase. A newbie that doesn't know how this things work will becomes a victim of robbery by google, they are meant to do some research before they allow this things to the public but no, the only language they understand is the money that's comes for the adverts, that's the only thing they understand. To add to this notion that research shouldn't be neglected. We can liken it to a business venture, I use this instance because everyday we experience new approach to stay on top of our competitors . From my experience I have come to the conclusion that research in investment doesn't mean we won't experience losses but it goes a long way to reduce them. Also considering the fact investments relies strongly on our decisions , it isn't wise to jump into them blindly without having a strong base for making our decision. That’s exactly why I always emphasize checking not just if a project sounds good, but if the technology is modern, the dev team is competent, and the track record is clean. A lot of coins might look shiny on the surface but are actually outdated or run by people you shouldn’t trust. Scams thrive in the absence of oversight, so without doing our own due diligence, we’re basically walking blind. And it’s not just about avoiding obvious rug pulls – even legit coins can fail if they have old tech, low adoption, or no clear use case. That’s why I say it’s better to drop such bags early and move to stronger projects. Long-term understanding of Bitcoin is essential, but for altcoins the review process needs to be ongoing, because the space evolves so fast that what was solid yesterday might be irrelevant tomorrow. I will prefer not to hold bitcoin much at the time and buy back later in 2027. Seriously, I also don't believe people who say there won't be a bear market in 2026 in the begining of 2027 beecause since the beginning of Bitcoin, in every cycle there has always been a bear market. So for me, I believe there will be a bear market.but what I'm thinking is that this upcoming bear market might not be like the others. Maybe the price of Bitcoin won't dip as it usually does in past bear markets. My reason is because of the way Bitcoin adoption is increasing institutions and even governments are starting to adopt Bitcoin. So it's possible we might see a change in history: even during a bear market, the price might not dip as much. Also, these bear markets are often caused by big holders. After investing large amounts of money in Bitcoin, when they see good profits, they start selling to take their gains and that triggers the downturn. But now, things seem to be changing. Big holders may want to hold their Bitcoin for a long period, not just buy and sell within short timeframes.Of course, there will still be people doing short-term trading, but maybe not as many. So, the idea of someone not selling all their Bitcoin now just to buy it back later in the bear market isn't necessarily a bad thing. However, trying to sell everything and expecting to buy it all back during the bear market might be risky because this time, things might not happen the same way as before.
