🚨 MALWARE ALERT (Noxcoin) 🚨

If you’ve used Noxcoin (any server or GUI wallet, on Windows or Linux), a trojan has been installed on your system. You need to remove it immediately. I tested this on VMs and here’s what you should check:

- Linux

Delete the folder ~/.rpmbc from your home directory.
Check your cron jobs and remove any entries referencing .rpmbc.

- Windows

The malware copies itself into a randomly named folder that mimics real apps (chrome-xxxx, fontTemp, etc.).

Go to C:\Users\<username>\AppData\ and search for action.py.

If you find a folder containing that file and the structure of this attached image → it’s malicious. Remove the folder and check and remove them from scheduled tasks.

Yes man, we got played, thankfully few people started discussing about it and looking into it and everyone rushed to warn others. From what people said it was mostly dormant, also I only lost the value of my tokens, did not see any weird activity, but I had to wipe clean my mining machine just in case.

We need mods to shut this topic down I think.

It's not my place, but I'm experimenting with Noxcoin just out of curiosity. I'll let you know if the viruses are removed. I'm not a programmer, but I can do good research. I hope the wallets compile cleanly and this project becomes fully public.

Monero wallet has a built-in miner, that’s why it gives a false positive. Nothing to do with what’s happening in this case.

I found the faulty code and deleted it. I'll let you know when the compilation is complete. I need to test it first. I'll contact you on Discord.

Why to do this, the dev deleted Discord and is gone, it was clearly an attempt to compromise wallets and users.

We should just make a group somewhere else, and find somehow who can lead a clean Noxcoin, with same tokenomics etc, but why to risk with the malicious codebase... Many weird stuff were found.

I'm not a software developer, but I was just curious. I wondered if I could succeed. The result is clear: a cleaned wallet. Of course, there are still nine classic threats. Monero has 32. I have a new wallet, a slightly cleaned one. But I only have a wallet for Linux (Ubuntu). I haven't been able to penetrate Windows yet (without success).
As for the future, maybe some people will support it. I can't comment on that.
I was curious, I tried it, and it worked. I'm testing it now. There doesn't seem to be a problem. Tastes and colors are indisputable.
