Although I hate them noise, too noise for a home if you have more than one. The amount of power they draw is very high too and as a solar energy miner I am trying to avoid Asic miners as possible. I hope that in the near future we will see a lot of home miners that have higher TH power, maybe over 100TH and also more efficient to run. If you are new to the miners you can face small issues like inconsistency and instability but trust me that's because you are new to mining, normally you need to place the miner in a well ventilated area for better cooling or you will face these issues. Make sure the fan spins and also make sure the psu isn't overheating. Title: Re: What's your biggest headache while mining? Post by: philipma1957 on August 15, 2025, 05:27:21 PM What's the most common issue you encounter when using Antminer? ??? heat and noise on the s21 and s19 models they pull 3300 watts and are loud. those two things will be certain enough. next is break down of gear. break down of gear is at least 10% per year. if you have a lot of them there is almost always one or two that suck. One of the most common failures of ASICs is overheating of chips and their failure. Usually, the further the chip is from the front fan for blowing, the higher the temperature. And ASIC power supplies do not like voltage drops in the power grid.Title: Re: What's your biggest headache while mining? Post by: uefbv on August 16, 2025, 03:47:14 AM No issue unless you got a faulty device. It seems so. Noise and heat dissipation problems should be the most troublesome. Then why don’t you install a blower muffler? It can solve the noise problem and dissipate heat effectively at the same time. Make sure the fan spins and also make sure the psu isn't overheating. nope. it is more likely down clock a bit. they will not over heat as much and are quieter. the pot fan setups do help but most of the gear runs way too hard. which makes it to hot and too loud. Also the pot fan means you need to bypass oem fans. So if the pot fans break there is a huge chance you over heat the gear. If you go the pot fan route you should use an epic controller and set the overheat numbers very low 78 vs 85c if the pot fans break the gear may be saved due to the lower heat setting. here is a 1 board t21 so 1/3 the power and hash means it does about 55th but I super under clocked it to 18 th . no overheating no noise and it will last for years run this way https://www.talkimg.com/images/2025/08/16/USiOZf.png Title: Re: What's your biggest headache while mining? Post by: Patikno on August 17, 2025, 03:08:24 PM What's the most common issue you encounter when using Antminer? ??? Personally, I have never used an Antminer for Bitcoin mining, but I have ever mined using a GPU installed on my personal computer or desktop. The most common headaches I encountered were power outages and unstable internet connection issues, or even frequent disconnections. I encountered these issues frequently at the time, and even if I were still mining now, I think I would still experience both of these issues. I don't know if the same issues apply abroad, but this is a common occurrence in my country, even though my internet and electricity providers are state-owned enterprises, but it doesn't seem to be as good as it should be.This might not be specific to your question, but I think it would be relevant if I were using an Antminer for Bitcoin mining here.In addition, rainy weather accompanied by lightning is also a challenge for me when mining, because when that happens, I have to turn off the modem that I have, because several times I have experienced incidents of being struck by lightning on my modem, which at that time made me anxious. Much like running a miner in a 45c plus room or a 113f room Those are simply poor places to run a miner https://shop.bitmain.com/product/detail?pid=000202504181244499833ha86cWe068B This claims -20c to 45c. And it will run. -20c is 7f. I CAN TELL YOU IT won't do well in a room that cold 45c is 113f. I can tell you it may work in this temp if that is the hot point for the day. Don't run Gear in extreme rooms. A 35f or 2c room is good A 90f or 33c room is good. Chip temps at 70c for all s19 or s21 models are good. Title: Re: What's your biggest headache while mining? Ventilation is needed to cool the ASICs with cold air from outside, which is why the temperature of the ASIC chips should remain virtually constant during operation. If the chip is dead, it will no longer heat up. if you can make a high quality custom water block with a quality radiator and a quality pump it is a good idea. if you take a three slot s19 miner and pull 2 hash boards out then place two custom waterblocks on the single hash board. The hash board will stay cool assuming the pump is good enough to pull the water into a big enough radiator. but doing all that is simply not cheap. so usually compromises are done the waterblocks tend to be a bit smaller then they should be the waterpump is a bit lower quality then it should be the radiator is a bit under sized. and the chips get pushed hard. or just air cool pul the center board out put a spacer in the center. <>. look at that shape to the left it will direct air to help cool the outer two boards. it ends up that two machines turn into three. so you buy a shell a controller a psu. about two hundred maybe three hundred bucks. is it cheaper then your way cant tell you . if you have 100 miners it is too much space. if you have two miners it is worth fucking around with. Air cooling or water cooling can be used. It also depends on local conditions. You can choose the one that suits you according to the situation. It can only be said that directly choosing water cooling is not so troublesome. Title: Re: What's your biggest headache while mining? ASICs are designed to work 24/7/365 with proper maintenance, so it is not entirely correct to compare a phone with an ASIC.If you make ventilation in the desert, where the temperature reaches 50-60 degrees, then there will be problems with ventilation :) Title: Re: What's your biggest headache while mining? Post by: shield132 on September 06, 2025, 06:21:41 PM What's the most common issue you encounter when using Antminer? ??? My biggest headache is what if I buy an Antminer and it has a defect? That's why I've always been picking GPU over ASIC miners because I know that when I buy from Nvidia or AMD, it's gonna be a high-quality product, while I don't have the same sense for Bitmain. The problem is that if the miner that I bought from China has a defect and I have to return it back, I'll have to pay hundreds of dollars for shipping from my country to China, which isn't worth it for me. Buying from a local market is a bad idea because they sell antminers at double the price. |
