Title: The Impacts of sports betting on the Sports industry Post by: DubemIfedigbo001 on August 19, 2025, 02:11:36 PM Sports betting like we all know has contributed very well to reshaping the sports industry and increased engagements on sports activities.
It has increased viewership which comes not just from supporters watching matches for pleasure purposes but because most of them have financially invested in the outcome of the matches, players performance among others. The availability of sports betting apps on mobile versions comes in handy as some gamblers would want to be present and view the progress of the match before betting on various outcomes. These engagements are some sort of more revenue to the clubs. Partnerships and sponsorships from betting platforms have opened more revenue sources to the industry and also more engagements in sports activities as the sports industry leverage on the betting platform audience both physically and online while the platform benefits more visibility and increased patronage. Online platforms like twitter and Facebook have become hubs for gamblers to engage in discussions about sports and share predictions among themselves while following up on new developments about clubs both offline and online to be in the know and make better predictions, these offline and online follow-ups bring more revenue and engagement to the sports industry. On the negatives, sports betting has given rise to the concern of match fixing and other unfair practices in sports activities, it has also led to vices and brutality among fans who may transfer aggression from lost bets on opposing fans celebrating and this has caused brutality in many places. Sports betting has handed the sports industry a good economic boost and engagement as well as dealt it some negatives. Let's discuss ways that sports betting has impacted the sports industry. Title: Re: The Impacts of sports betting on the Sports industry Post by: rdluffy on August 19, 2025, 02:26:05 PM Nowadays, we are at the peak of sports betting companies and people who bet
As I am more connected to soccer, I can say with certainty that there have never been as many bets and as much volume as there are today In the past, I only saw a few groups of friends betting among themselves, small amounts, and one or two people with access to sports betting sites With smartphones, the internet, massive sponsorship of soccer championships, and the popularity of the sport, I realize that a lot of people are betting Here in Brazil, for example, if you walk down the street paying attention to people, you will notice some talking about soccer and betting, or even betting on their cell phones Virtually all teams in the Brazilian league are sponsored by betting companies. The impact is huge :o :o :o Title: Re: The Impacts of sports betting on the Sports industry Post by: Upgrade00 on August 19, 2025, 02:45:44 PM Sports betting like we all know has contributed very well to reshaping the sports industry and increased engagements on sports activities. I think this is the other way around; sport betting is feeding off the popularity of various sports and trying to get more sport fans to bet on games. It has increased viewership which comes not just from supporters watching matches for pleasure purposes but because most of them have financially invested in the outcome of the matches, players performance among others. <snip> No one starts to watch sports simply because they want to bet on it, but a fan can be interested in betting cause they already spend so much time on the sport and are emotionally invested. This is the reason sport bookies spend millions to advertise during sport games and through other means directly or indirectly related to sports. That is where the attention is and they're trying to get a piece of it. Title: Re: The Impacts of sports betting on the Sports industry Post by: YOSHIE on August 19, 2025, 03:03:04 PM Let's discuss ways that sports betting has impacted the sports industry. Of course today's sports betting is no longer viewed as a mere entertainment, as in general, what we know is that sports betting has a significant impact in the sports industry, That we can see clearly, both the impact of increasing spectators and fans, advertisements and also plas bring in various sponsors in the world of sports. In addition to the significant impact on the economy of sports betting and also has a big impact on social media as well as the development of betting market values, this proves the seriousness of sports gambling. Title: Re: The Impacts of sports betting on the Sports industry Post by: Mia Chloe on August 19, 2025, 03:09:03 PM ~snip Actually sports betting has a very huge role play in sports industry and the thing is it also increases fan engagement alot because from a view point you'll discover that many people who bet on a match always wanna make out time to sit back and watch the match or even highlights as the case may be. You'll also notice that games that get the highest bet volumes are usually those that are most popular. I've seen a post a couple months ago where some matches were allegedly altered to defy huge bet volumes and if we are talking about negative effects that's of course one of them. Title: Re: The Impacts of sports betting on the Sports industry Post by: Davidvictorson on August 19, 2025, 03:16:23 PM In terms of revenue streams, fan engagement and increased sponsorship opportunities for clubs and football leagues, we can all agree that these are of the good sides that sports betting has brought about. And I can even say that the positives of sports betting has even made more people to become millionaires. The people that I am referring to here are not the bettors but the people who run and operate the sports betting business. However, that is not to say that regulation should be thrown away. Infact this is where it is needed because, the people on the other side have become more addicted to sports betting, there are more underaged gamblers and other vices associated with a weak regulation. Sports betting needs a stronger and enforceable regulation.
Title: Re: The Impacts of sports betting on the Sports industry Post by: KTChampions on August 19, 2025, 03:18:31 PM ~ On the negatives, sports betting has given rise to the concern of match fixing and other unfair practices in sports activities, it has also led to vices and brutality among fans who may transfer aggression from lost bets on opposing fans celebrating and this has caused brutality in many places. Sports betting has handed the sports industry a good economic boost and engagement as well as dealt it some negatives. Let's discuss ways that sports betting has impacted the sports industry. I think the issue of fixed games is highly dependent on the income of the athletes and, for example, in football at the highest level, only outright fools do this - what's the point of risking your large incomes? If we take eSports, the income there is orders of magnitude less, so the scandals with fixed games are endless - the highest level players are involved. And this is one of the obstacles to development, as it scares away sponsors, etc. Therefore, it can be said that the possibility of betting gives an additional impetus to already large industries (like football), but can slow down niche sports. Title: Re: The Impacts of sports betting on the Sports industry Post by: stompix on August 19, 2025, 03:21:12 PM Sports betting like we all know has contributed very well to reshaping the sports industry and increased engagements on sports activities. How, by having more people staying on their sofas with their eyes glued on their mobiles and phones and watching sports? That instead of going out and actually doing those sports? ;D Reality is this: https://www.talkimg.com/images/2025/08/19/UZATqj.jpeg It has increased viewership which comes not just from supporters watching matches for pleasure purposes but because most of them have financially invested in the outcome of the matches, players performance among others. The availability of sports betting apps on mobile versions comes in handy as some gamblers would want to be present and view the progress of the match before betting on various outcomes. Exactly what I said, it has made people spend more time at home with their eyes glued to a phone! If it were like that, people could go watch American Ninja Warrior rather than going to the gym! Online platforms like twitter and Facebook have become hubs for gamblers to engage in discussions about sports and share predictions among themselves while following up on new developments about clubs both offline and online to be in the know and make better predictions, these offline and online follow-ups bring more revenue and engagement to the sports industry. Oh yeah, and speaking of forums and discussions, it has also helped a lot the gambling section here, right? I mean, no spam or endless discussions without anything to say, right? Right? ;D Title: Re: The Impacts of sports betting on the Sports industry Post by: danherbias07 on August 19, 2025, 03:23:31 PM There was an interview with Michael Porter Jr. (NBA player) about his take on sports betting in the sports industry.
https://www.youtube.com/shorts/lKhKeg7Tj0w https://www.talkimg.com/images/2025/08/19/UZAzMG.png He actually has a point, and he is telling a story from experience. If those sports bettors are telling him what to do, then it could ruin the whole league. It doesn't mean that it will affect him, but these guys can create some conflict with players, and there are some who might be doing this while they are conspiring with other players. If that is where the sports industry will circulate, then it opens up manipulation in their stats, which will not be fun to watch anymore. Title: Re: The Impacts of sports betting on the Sports industry Post by: happybitcoinph on August 19, 2025, 03:32:09 PM I might partially disagree on the OP's point because, believe it or not, the sports industry can reach what it is now even without the existence of sports betting. Sports betting, in fact, just started to become an idea because of the existence of sports, which is kind of obvious.
Besides, even without the existence of sports betting, expect that more people will be involved in sports activities because it is part of the country's culture, and there is even a so-called "national sport" per country. Sports betting contribution in the sports industry is technically just about gambling, where huge money circulates - business as usual. I don't see how it contributed to the growth of the sports industry as a whole, unless it's about money. These engagements are some sort of more revenue to the clubs. Sports betting has handed the sports industry a good economic boost and engagement as well as dealt it some negatives. Let's discuss ways that sports betting has impacted the sports industry. I'm not sure that betting has contributed anything but money - in the form of sponsorships - to the sports industry. It definitely feeds off sports fans who are looking for an extra layer of competition or who think that they can beat the odds that are offered by bookmakers, however the bookmakers make a profit every year which shows you that the average person placing sports bets is not smart enough to pick correctly. The sports betting industry exists because of the sports industry, however you seem to be turning this relationship backwards. We should all be grateful for the money that the sports betting companies plow into individual sports when advertising but don't kid yourself into thinking sports would not exist without them. Title: Re: The Impacts of sports betting on the Sports industry Post by: Ojima-ojo on August 19, 2025, 03:34:55 PM You mentioned both the negative and positive side of sport betting in the above but now asking us to discuss the impact of sport betting on the gambling industry.
You failed to point us to a direction such as which impact between the negative and positive that you already mentioned do you want to get our input on? Title: Re: The Impacts of sports betting on the Sports industry Post by: Spaceman1000$ on August 19, 2025, 03:35:04 PM Everything that has advantage also has to an extent some level of disadvantage, sports betting so far has added to the participation and viewership of sports across the globe, this is because prediction and winning comes with a reward, and a lot of times this rewards is heavily mouth watering, so you wouldn't blame anybody that wants to participate in sports betting seeing the advantage that comes with it.
however when sports betting affects the sports activities, like match fixing or trying to influence the outcome of games, this is when the rules that guide the various sports comes in, and anybody or club found wanting will have to pay heavily for it, I can remember a certain time juventus FC an Italian club was accused of match fixing, after when they were found guilty, some points were deducted from them and I think they were relegated or something of that nature. However in times of gambling, the universal role in gambling is for you to show sportsmanship, that is to say, is either you lose some or you win some, so you should not take it to heart when you lose, besides gambling is entirely based on your own discretion, nobody is being coerced to gamble, so whatever revenue the gambling companies are making, it's entirely out of people's discretion. Title: Re: The Impacts of sports betting on the Sports industry Post by: crwth on August 19, 2025, 03:36:52 PM The most important part IMO with sports betting to the sports industry is the engagement. I think there are many people who watch it because they bet on a specific match. It's going to increase their revenue and potentially boost social media activity, as others have suggested.
What I'm curious about is the effect of mental health on athletes, knowing that there are bets on how they perform or something similar. Title: Re: The Impacts of sports betting on the Sports industry Post by: Rruchi man on August 19, 2025, 03:43:28 PM ~ Sports betting has had both a positive and negative effect, but a lot of focus will often be on the negatives because the people who amplify it actually have something against sports betting. Quote Let's discuss ways that sports betting has impacted the sports industry. As much as we may not like to say it, sports betting has contributed to the interest in sports too. There are people who started seeing sports and following up because there is a chance for them to earn from their time. It is not like these people are all broke and in need of money, but some people will never engage in anything, including leisure, when they know they can earn nothing from it. Sports betting has helped some of these people to develop an interest in sports, so they don't work themselves to death.Title: Re: The Impacts of sports betting on the Sports industry Post by: Zigabel on August 19, 2025, 03:49:08 PM On the negatives, sports betting has given rise to the concern of match fixing and other unfair practices in sports activities, it has also led to vices and brutality among fans who may transfer aggression from lost bets on opposing fans celebrating and this has caused brutality in many places. These concerns are the reason we see that the government of some countries ends up trying to place ban on gambling, the aggressiveness, the contempt and the public disorder and breakdown some fans cause makes the government to explore the options of putting an end to the establishment of casinos and gambling platforms in their countries. The unfair practice in several sports activities is another reason we see issues arising and been related to gambling because ordinarily these issues wouldn't be there if there was no body placing a bet on a team and wanting to make sure they are not loosing their money, it's mostly because they have huge stakes you see these gamblers attempt to do everthing within their power to win the bet. What I'm curious about is the effect of mental health on athletes, knowing that there are bets on how they perform or something similar. I think athletes take it calmly that people place bets both for and against them. Moreover, they have an advantage — they know the situation from the inside and how the game might unfold, so they can also place bets))) Public figures in general should accept calmly that some people may not like them; otherwise they wouldn’t be able to be happy and successful Title: Re: The Impacts of sports betting on the Sports industry Post by: mikel_012 on August 19, 2025, 04:05:23 PM Flamengo from Brazilian Serie A announced an sponsor for R$ 250 million per year + bonus from the sportsbook Betano. This value is the biggest ever for any brazilian team and in the top 10 of all teams in the world. This would never be possible and with so much money if it wasn't for the betting industry.
For teams the sports betting industry is a blessing because it makes them earn so much more money which can be used to make stadiums and buy better players every new year. If not some countries in South America and few in Europe and Africa. Title: Re: The Impacts of sports betting on the Sports industry Post by: Solodoski on August 19, 2025, 04:07:26 PM Sport betting has really impacted the sport industry greatly and one of the main impact is making more people engage in sports. Most people that bet on matches now try to make out time to watch the match and even discuss about the match on social platforms, all this is made possible because of the availability of sport betting app and like when there was no sport betting on phone apps.
Sport betting has also impacted the sport industry by ways of sponsorship. Some of the football clubs are being sponsored by this bet company and that has generated some income for the clubs. Title: Re: The Impacts of sports betting on the Sports industry Post by: adultcrypto on August 19, 2025, 04:08:25 PM You already stated everything and no one can deny the fact that sports betting is the major revenue generator of the sports industry. Just check how many of the clubs are sponsored by betting companies, it cut across leagues. Before now, there were traditional pools that featured soccer and affiliated to the bookies. They contribute to the funding of sporting activities, in my neighborhood, they sponsor different types of sporting activities. Sports betting actually makes the sports industry more interest as it brings money into the entertainment that sports is all about.

So gambling and football are just creating fun and excitement. I doubt sports betting plays a big role in the popularity of a specific sport as a whole. Let's take football as your example, there is no doubt that football becomes popular in a country where it's not a primary sport because of huge advertising and global recognition. Big names, brands, and any "big" influential in the sports industry are taking popular stars as brand ambassadors, and that star will lead to much awareness of that sport. And there are lots of other advertisements to mention. Again, even without sports betting or gambling, the sports industry can always be a huge industry. If the sports industry hadn't turned into a huge industry in the first place, sports betting wouldn't be much patronized. Title: Re: The Impacts of sports betting on the Sports industry Post by: bitzizzix on August 19, 2025, 04:19:44 PM Sports betting has been shown to increase viewership and the number of fans who want to watch live matches to support the teams they bet on or support, which can benefit the sports industry financially. Sports betting can also attract sponsorships and advertising, and increase TV ratings because those unable to attend can watch live on TV, which is believed to benefit many parties. The continued growth of sports betting will have a significant positive impact on the sports industry and many parties.
And I believe the negative impacts will always be present, especially in match-fixing, as this has long been a part of sports and will never completely disappear. Because no matter how strict the regulations and consequences are, negative things that occur in the world of sports still occur. There are both positive and negative aspects in sports betting. Due to the benefits of sports betting, people now try to enjoy the game more attentively. Everyone involved, including clubs, media, players, benefits. Due to the benefits of sports betting, it is also possible to organize various sports. If there was no income, so many sports events could not be organized. Now people can enjoy various sports events more than before. That's why I think sports betting plays an important role in this area. Although it has some negative aspects, such as some dishonest people try to fix some events and they take the game to a different level. Which has a negative effect on sports.Title: Re: The Impacts of sports betting on the Sports industry Post by: Slow death on August 19, 2025, 04:57:32 PM In the past, something like 5 years ago, here in my country the football league was heavily dependent on sponsorships from government companies, so it was easier for the government to use league games for political purposes, but when the government started to encourage sports betting and casinos, the league gained sponsorship from bookmakers and many teams also have sponsorship from bookmakers
this started to give more independence to the league and the teams and the results of the games are now more credible to the point that people feel that it is now worth betting on the games of my country's league, even cryptocurrency bookmakers started adding my country's football league so that people can bet on the games. Just as betting has incentivized sports in terms of attracting more viewers, it also has its downside, and that's match-fixing. Although this isn't as alarming as it seems, especially in the top leagues, where players earn enough money to make it difficult to fix or convince them to do so.
We're in the golden age of information, where everyone has easy access to everything. All the sports information you need is just a few clicks away. It's increasingly easy to have all the match broadcasts at your fingertips, and this is symmetrical; both the sport benefits, and so does the casino. Many people now put interest in matches because of bets, it doesn't need to be the teams that they support. They want to see different playing styles of teams incase they want to analyze the teams for future bet. Gambling is now a very big industry and many of them are affiliated with football clubs and sporting events.

Sports betting has handed the sports industry a good economic boost and engagement as well as dealt it some negatives. Let's discuss ways that sports betting has impacted the sports industry. Betting on sports has been around for a long time. In ancient times, betting was practiced in Greece and Rome. In the Middle Ages, horse racing was also bet on in England. So, it goes without saying that its prevalence will increase further in the current internet era. Nowadays, sports are not limited to just playing. It has become a large economic and social industry. The number of viewers has increased due to the influence of betting. Batting companies are sponsoring various clubs. Which is a huge money-making venture. Again, the current era is the era of social media, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, where all these topics are discussed. Here, a person has the opportunity to develop a full-time career. Due to its negative impact, scandals like fixing sometimes occur in the world of sports. I still miss those days when sports was all about pure fan love, passion and talent. But now, viewers now are more interested in the money they would make from betting on the match than the pure support they would give to their most preferred teams. Quite alot has changed since sports betting became so lucrative and easily accessible. Pure sports passion is missing... Sport betting has also impacted the sport industry by ways of sponsorship. Some of the football clubs are being sponsored by this bet company and that has generated some income for the clubs. Same way that Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies ha e helped gambling to eliminate the barear of regional differences to gambler's exposing the gambling market to the global market through usage of cryptocurrency for transactions. The whole industry runs on casino money probably. Many teams sign sponsorship deals with casinos. You see casino adds almost everywhere. What does that tell you? Without casinos sports industry would lose so much money. Is that a good thing? I think it is. As long as casinos don't do any shady deals with the teams and fix games, I don't see any negatives. People clearly love gambling. That's why casinos report record profits every year. This industry is booming I'm telling ya. Title: Re: The Impacts of sports betting on the Sports industry Post by: Royal Cap on August 19, 2025, 06:41:13 PM I think that Sports betting had a positive effect on the popularity of sports since many people who did not even follow any sport previously do so now due to a bet made. It also provides clubs and leagues with additional funds in terms of sponsoring. However, there is as well the risk of addiction, fan violence and even fixing of matches which may wreck the integrity of the game on the other side. Therefore, although it brought benefits to the commercial aspect of sport, I think that they should add more legal control to counter all these benefits and drawbacks.
Title: Re: The Impacts of sports betting on the Sports industry Post by: Agbe on August 19, 2025, 06:43:02 PM Sport betting has really impacted the sport industry greatly and one of the main impact is making more people engage in sports. Most people that bet on matches now try to make out time to watch the match and even discuss about the match on social platforms, all this is made possible because of the availability of sport betting app and like when there was no sport betting on phone apps. Sport betting has really impacted positively on the sporting sector as it has attracted many people to follow sports because gamblers will like to know what is happening as it will help them to stay current in terms of helping them with gambling tips and know which player is injured or not so sport betting has brought more fun to the sporting sector Sport betting has also impacted the sport industry by ways of sponsorship. Some of the football clubs are being sponsored by this bet company and that has generated some income for the clubs. Title: Re: The Impacts of sports betting on the Sports industry Post by: Bluedrem on August 19, 2025, 06:50:18 PM A country or team or individual participates in sports to represent the country, team or themselves. Sports are actually a place of emotion. In the past, those who loved sports and enjoyed the games of different teams would enjoy the joy from the bottom of their hearts when their favorite team won. But nowadays, people choose teams based on their possibility of winning because they participate in betting on the team that has a higher chance of winning.
I have also seen many gamblers who are betting on other countries against their own country in their country's games. Is sports actually an opportunity to earn money? I don't think sports should ever be an opportunity to earn money. There is still a saying in our country that if boys and girls can be given the opportunity to play sports, they will be able to stay away from various types of criminal activities and drugs. Title: Re: The Impacts of sports betting on the Sports industry Post by: Felicity_Tide on August 19, 2025, 06:59:44 PM I don't really know much about other sports, but as far as football is concerned, I see it as the true hub that has really hosted the activities of betting. The sponsorship deals are very massive and they end up benefiting any sides that collaborate. Honestly, I think footballing as a sport is very big and it happens to be the biggest sport I guess.
And concerning the negative aspect, well, it has being a problem in recent times, and it often comes to our minds especially when some games looks manipulated probably from the referee's decisions. The sad truth is, we can never have a 100% transparency in football. A very few individuals just find ways to manipulate a games in their own ways. Title: Re: The Impacts of sports betting on the Sports industry Post by: Jaycoinz on August 19, 2025, 07:36:45 PM Its right to say that sports betting has made sports popular because most sports people find interesting are the ones they bet on. But for me I would say that I t has ruined sports in a way and my reason for saying that is because sports is beginning to lose it's originality. There was once a time that sports had real supporters that didn't care about making money from it, people had real passion but it all changed when betting became poplular
Title: Re: The Impacts of sports betting on the Sports industry Post by: Altryist on August 19, 2025, 08:11:25 PM There's nothing good that doesn't have its downsides, because nothing is perfect. Just as betting has incentivized sports in terms of attracting more viewers, it also has its downside, and that's match-fixing. Although this isn't as alarming as it seems, especially in the top leagues, where players earn enough money to make it difficult to fix or convince them to do so. Information has become more accessible to anyone with internet access, which means the casino audience will grow, but it will not affect the fact that fixed matches or insider information exist and will continue to exist. Gambling has simply turned into a huge industry that is becoming very difficult to fully control, and the temptation to break the rules exists because of the enormous money involved. Despite the huge salaries, there are still players who agree to this. We're in the golden age of information, where everyone has easy access to everything. All the sports information you need is just a few clicks away. It's increasingly easy to have all the match broadcasts at your fingertips, and this is symmetrical; both the sport benefits, and so does the casino. I agree with you, that some players could fall into this type of fixing, especially those in teams in divisions where their salary is not as high and who are not under the constant spotlight as a star would be, the truth is that everything is increasingly focused on entertainment than on the sport itself, the really difficult thing in these cases is proving when fixing occurs, generally they are investigated and nothing is concluded. We can say this is just the beginning of the thriving era in gambling. The population of sports bettors will continue to increase as time goes on. IMO, what may have influenced sports betting is the number of online casinos that are accessible to people. And the amount of Ads we see in the internet these days that resonates around sports betting is high. It has greatly influenced many people to start betting and the thrilling actions of the league has also influenced them too. I can't find any official stats other than some random articles but let's talk about the reality the viewers of sports are billions for popular gaes like football but I don't think people betting on a game will even reach 10% of those numbers. Sports betting platforms make use of the sports to advertise their brand and platform and try to attract players and some of them were completely new to this field which I agree but it's other way round, casinos or betting platforms use the pupularity of a game and grown in the last few years and crypto casinos played an important role that let the people to use crypto as mode of payment. If someone is capable and deranged enough to attack fans of the opposite team because of the loss of money they willingly staked on the victory of their own team, then such a person is the problem, not the betting platforms or the involvement of betting within the world of professional sports. That kind of people are supposed to stay away from bookies and public stadiums, as they obviously suffer from anger problems. In the same manner there are fans who just bite the bullet and take their losses like champions, there are a few who would lose control and attack people whom they don't even know. It is not necessarily about betting in sports, those people would have lost their cool over other things if given enough time and the right context. And also, if you are a fan of a certain sports, high likely that you will be interested in betting as well. Even if you say, you are not a sportsbettor in the beginning. Dude, this is the first time that I've seen someone question this on an interesting way, without directly accusing the problem, but rather inviting discussion. Thanks for this thread!! There no denying that sports bet has truly changed the dynamic of several sports... the new sponsorships and increased engagement generate revenue that many clubs and leagues would never has been able to obtain otherwise of this. But now I ask you: This is sustainable at long run? If most of the interest comes from betting, dont you think genuine passion will be replaced by a financial relationship and when thats no longer profitable, many clubs and leagues could disappear? About manipulations I won't even comment... everyone is to blame and has responsibilities: bettors, clubs, referees, and regulatory bodies. But beyond all this, I think the social aspect is also significantly impacted... the audience and engagement have increased and this exposed many young and vulnerable people to addiction. They arent directly to blame, but the problem has become much more blatant since it became popular. Title: Re: The Impacts of sports betting on the Sports industry Post by: lovesmayfamilis on August 20, 2025, 06:07:48 AM Sports betting brings in good income, and in those countries where bookmakers are allowed, the government acts very wisely, since the cash flow goes to the state treasury, unlike those places where there are shadow sources. In addition, where there are bans, people will still find other sources for betting, but their safety becomes highly questionable, so the guarantee of payments protects the player. As a result, not only do legalized bookmakers benefit, but also the economy, not to mention the popularization of sports.
Title: Re: The Impacts of sports betting on the Sports industry Post by: viljy on August 20, 2025, 06:35:43 AM The impact of sports betting consists of two most important components.
One of them is negative - the risks of match-fixing, fraud, bought refereeing, etc. None of this would have happened if there had been no opportunity to make a profit. Another positive component is the multiple increase in people interested in sports, that is, the audience. This, in turn, has an important consequence in the form of an increase in the advertising audience. This attracts large advertisers who pay directly to sports clubs, teams, and athletes. After all, without betting, there would be much fewer spectators at stadiums and screens. But in general, betting has always existed. At least since gladiator fights, betting has already existed. By the way, not so long ago there was a TV series "Those About to Die" about the Roman Empire, the main character of which is an ancient Roman bookmaker. Title: Re: The Impacts of sports betting on the Sports industry Post by: libert19 on August 20, 2025, 06:46:02 AM ... On the negatives, sports betting has given rise to the concern of match fixing and other unfair practices in sports activities, Yep, this. I consider sports betting as a neutral thing (neither bad, neither good), but as it usually goes with the world, if there is anything, people will try to take advantage of it to make profits, and they ruin the name of something which didn't have anything negative inherently. Quote ...it has also led to vices and brutality among fans who may transfer aggression from lost bets on opposing fans celebrating and this has caused brutality in many places. We just know that sports betting makes the sports industry rise and attracts more attention from people.

Sport bets did not really layed the foundation for gambling and before sports bets came popular, gambling was mostly done on social events and manual offline games. Then gambling was not really a thing to be influential while very few where only at opportune to play online bets.As I am more connected to soccer, I can say with certainty that there have never been as many bets and as much volume as there are today In the past, I only saw a few groups of friends betting among themselves, small amounts, and one or two people with access to sports betting sites With smartphones, the internet, massive sponsorship of soccer championships, and the popularity of the sport, I realize that a lot of people are betting Here in Brazil, for example, if you walk down the street paying attention to people, you will notice some talking about soccer and betting, or even betting on their cell phones Virtually all teams in the Brazilian league are sponsored by betting companies. The impact is huge :o :o :o But as today's, accessibility of the internet and the common to own mobile devices with how much interest it has become to invest on the sport events has turn into source of resources for both gambling companies and gamblers. And with the rate of ADs of gambling companies sponsoring the sport events is made gambling so exposed like it has become one of the social events out there with the highily interests of large number of people wanting to play along the bets all because of their interests in sports activities. Title: Re: The Impacts of sports betting on the Sports industry Post by: Roseline492 on August 20, 2025, 09:40:34 AM Sports has impacted hugely on themselves because of the number of people that are into it and in other words it has indirectly extend this impact to those countries that allows it because it has now giving an avenue for some people to engaged on it and such reducing how desperate some persons would have gone in search of money in anyway because even if you and I do not believe that gambling is a job but there are people who called it there everything even if chances are limited but it has impacted on them positively and in terms of community sports has brought people of different places whom has not seen each other's before just love one another because of the jersey they have in common and there are so many other things sports has brought.
Title: Re: The Impacts of sports betting on the Sports industry Post by: CryptoYar on August 20, 2025, 09:50:22 AM Sports betting major impact on sports industry both good and bad. On positive side much of money comes in with sponsorships and partnerships which helps to use more advanced data and technology which improves viewing experience for everyone. And there are some downsides too. Money use match fixing. There are also social concerns such as increase in fan aggression and rise in gambling addiction especially with easy access of mobile betting apps. So simply sports betting provides big economic boost and more fan interest but it comes with real problems that industry has to manage.
Title: Re: The Impacts of sports betting on the Sports industry Post by: Frankolala on August 20, 2025, 09:51:36 AM You already stated everything and no one can deny the fact that sports betting is the major revenue generator of the sports industry. Especially because people can just watch and bet on their phones as they watch the sports also just on their phones. And then they also participate in the discussions on social media while they brag about how much they have won in a particular match. Kind of magnifying the scope because of the social media and fan are drawn to the attention how lively the discussion and see people benefit from the sports they love watching. Title: Re: The Impacts of sports betting on the Sports industry Post by: Sanitough on August 20, 2025, 09:58:16 AM I don’t think it’s even worth discussing the “impact” anymore, sports betting has been legal in Nevada since the 1950s. That’s a long time ago, and the fact that nothing major has changed, still legal up to this day just shows it’s already considered normal.
Even before it was legalized, people were already betting on sports anyway. So yeah, it definitely has an impact on the sport itself. And about the argument that it could lead to rigging… honestly, that’s always been part of it. Legal or not, anyone could still place bets, so the risk is always there. https://rotogrinders.com/sports-betting/states/nevada Quote Even though gambling in Nevada was legalized in 1931, sports betting largely remained an illegal, underground activity until 1949, when Nevada legalized sports betting and horse betting. In 1951, the federal government attached a 10% tax on legal sportsbooks, which caused many legitimate sportsbooks to close because they couldn’t handle the tax rate. Others kept to the illegal underground, or used workarounds, like writing tickets in code for lower amounts than they were actually worth. Casinos came out and allow people to bet on the sport and on the club of their choice. This has made football to be more of fun because you can make profit on what you love doing to entertain yourself. Casinos have no option than to show their gratitude and support to sport by sponsoring some of the clubs. Gambling has made non sport fans to be sport fans, because you have to understand the sport that you want to bet on. Playing sport bets has helped a lot, both the sports activities and those that are into it, because it makes people to bet on a specific match in sports and then the two now have to be interdependence of each other, so that the economy could boost and then people from across the world could be integrated with each other in making the necessary achievement of a common goal in sports, so they both have benefited form each other. After having good and positive discussion few countries already banned with few are working on this during match this is also not bad because this can bring some change even education is always better to have changes. Sports betting is huge in many countries and its impact is also balanced due to strict laws and governance of sports organizations but still if things are not going into positive way then surely officials are right to have ban on these sites advertising during matches. Teams and individual athletes have gained an additional source of revenue through sponsorships. In addition to generating more interaction among sports fans in general. Ultimately, it's a win-win situation. This also has an impact on the economies of the countries where they operate.

And again it has generated more streams of income for the sports industry as well. They are “the salary” of an athletes and it in a way makes others wish to become high paid athletes. Getting back to sponsorshil, gambling industry sponsors totally B leagues or majority of amateur leagues. That is great, as some big stars came exactly from those leagues.

The gamblers should also make sure they remain in good shape like the players. It eases of stress from regular betting and also keeps your metabolism in check.
Sports betting has indeed made fixing a more common term, but I doubt how much big leagues games are actually fixed, or is it just the gamblers fallacy running in the minds of the players. Casinos make the most out the games though. Loads of betting happening means a lot of money being lost too. Title: Re: The Impacts of sports betting on the Sports industry Post by: fuguebtc on August 21, 2025, 10:23:07 AM Sports betting like we all know has contributed very well to reshaping the sports industry and increased engagements on sports activities. https://talkimg.com/images/2025/08/21/UZ6dkq.pngLet's discuss ways that sports betting has impacted the sports industry. https://calbizjournal.com/the-betting-industrys-growing-impact-on-sports-sponsorship yeah in sports betting Viewership & revenue boosted up. NFL witnessed a steep increase in viewership, 20% after PASPA as bettors started taking more interest & find out about more teams, in-app betting, live game updates etc just built to give an immersive experience. The flow of sponsorships also increased significantly in leagues as Betting brands are investing more than 100 million every year to the EPL. Even WNBA has just shown exponential growth & all the credit goes to these Betting partnerships & promos. However everything is not so shiny as it appears because there have also been rampant cases of match fixing whether its Lebanon or MLB investigations and the integrity is always under question when promotions are entangled tightly with the sports media. It is a value for money boost but still the regulating authorities have to be alert and ensure fairness. I think this is the other way around; sport betting is feeding off the popularity of various sports and trying to get more sport fans to bet on games. It has increased viewership which comes not just from supporters watching matches for pleasure purposes but because most of them have financially invested in the outcome of the matches, players performance among others. <snip> Quote No one starts to watch sports simply because they want to bet on it, but a fan can be interested in betting cause they already spend so much time on the sport and are emotionally invested. Nope, I have seen people who didn't like soccer but started watching football so they can gamble effectively since others have won from it.Sports betting like we all know has contributed very well to reshaping the sports industry and increased engagements on sports activities. How, by having more people staying on their sofas with their eyes glued on their mobiles and phones and watching sports? That instead of going out and actually doing those sports? ;D Quote Online platforms like twitter and Facebook have become hubs for gamblers to engage in discussions about sports and share predictions among themselves while following up on new developments about clubs both offline and online to be in the know and make better predictions, these offline and online follow-ups bring more revenue and engagement to the sports industry. Oh yeah, and speaking of forums and discussions, it has also helped a lot the gambling section here, right? I mean, no spam or endless discussions without anything to say, right? Right? ;D Even though there are no spams ;D You failed to point us to a direction such as which impact between the negative and positive that you already mentioned do you want to get our input on? You missed the point or maybe you did not read the OP to the ending, I was sparking up a discussion that should include the positives and the negatives and requesting contributions from any of the two angles you deem fit or both. see below: Let's discuss ways that sports betting has impacted the sports industry. I might partially disagree on the OP's point because, believe it or not, the sports industry can reach what it is now even without the existence of sports betting. Sports betting, in fact, just started to become an idea because of the existence of sports, which is kind of obvious. I still believe sports betting brought more fame and popularity to the sports industry and even increased it's financial power with their involvement. Sports industry would have reached this level without sports betting actually no doubt, but it would not have been now, maybe in 10 years' time or more.Quote Sports betting contribution in the sports industry is technically just about gambling, where huge money circulates - business as usual. Do you measure a business growth without it's financial strength? Is there an athlete that plays out of conscience? they play to earn, so the finance is a priority.I don't see how it contributed to the growth of the sports industry as a whole, unless it's about money. What about partnerships and sponsorships?, increased viewership, fanbase and popularity? Are they all insignificant to you? Sports betting catalyzed all these features the sports industry now enjoys. Title: Re: The Impacts of sports betting on the Sports industry Post by: giammangiato on August 21, 2025, 08:11:03 PM I watched a report on gambling in Italy, specifically sports betting, that claimed each player spent an average of €3,300 in 2024—a worrying number, I'd say.
For me, that's a truly enormous figure. This means something is getting out of hand, that compulsive gamblers are increasing, and that the danger is truly enormous. The crisis, job uncertainty, and all the negative impact it has on today's society are affecting young people who, with great ease, try to win something by gambling. I see it as a huge risk for the youth of the future, and I say this as a gambler, a parent, and a citizen. Let's discuss ways that sports betting has impacted the sports industry. While I must applaud the impact the betting industry has given to the sports industry I must also disagree with them on the fact that they have made the sport industry to lose its focus of entertainment and now focusing on only profit making. Betting industry made financing of the sports industry to be easier on them with their sponsorship but we all know nothing comes free. The clubs no longer have some freedom they once possessed. Although not everything is being clear to the public but using your own sense you should see some moves by the clubs and know they're being influenced by their sponsors as the cases might be. Clubs are encouraging their fans to bet more without putting into consideration that some of the fans might be underage. The only aspect I think sports are benefiting from them, is probably from sponsorship which is kinda a return they are doing after getting many tractions from sports. Any industry you can think of today that is doing very well always have their flaws. There is always an advantage and also a lot of disadvantages to take on when it comes to such industries. The best thing is to always find ways possible to help mitigate the after effect of the disadvantages, ways on how to curtail the effects of it to the minimal level. We can’t because of the disadvantages not want to diverse into the advantages which in the long run has played a vital role in boosting economy through revenue generated and also give more back to the viewers to have best experience viewing those games in live. I have heard about match fixing from someone I know while doing research and analysis. Some of them are assuming that if a match is fixed, he will win. If that is the case, then it must be said that people can no longer enjoy the real game because of money. People only watch the game to make money and place bets. Although everyone concerned gambling has improved due to the increase in sports betting, the joy of the real game is being lost. Though it is not always the case that matches are fixed.Title: Re: The Impacts of sports betting on the Sports industry Post by: ₿itcoin on August 25, 2025, 08:31:21 AM Fixing dirty practice matches is quite common in sports betting, but it is quite difficult to do in the big leagues, it only happens in local leagues that do not get as much attention as in Australian football which does get the spotlight because of uncontrolled international betting thus making the integrity of the local league very vulnerable. On the other hand, major leagues spend a lot on integrity departments and advanced surveillance. Also the technology is not only making betting more convenient however is also increasing the frequency of bets & the addictiveness of placing bets through frictionless design readily provided by AI, mobile apps, & e wallet. Now, as the technology is getting advanced day by day so the regulations also need to keep up with that pace and provide more oversight with AI driven anomaly detection & cross border enforcement to keep the game clean :) Title: Re: The Impacts of sports betting on the Sports industry Post by: Dr.Bitcoin_Strange on August 25, 2025, 10:12:42 AM Sports betting and sports activity started about the same time, so it has always been a thing that ran along together, it's just now that the system is beginning to get corrupt and leading to match fixing, else for the decades that sports betting starts, there was no record of match fixing. I don't agree with your first sentence: in many countries sports betting has been legal only for the last few years, even in the ones with the greatest tradition like what happens with football in LATAM. Of course there was illegal betting in the past when it was forbidden, but I din't think it can be compared to the figures of today when people can bet hassle-free. So sports betting could've started about the same time, but evolved at a different pace in many places. Unfortunately, fixed matches have existed for a very long time and the smaller the league, the more of them there are. Moreover, this bad phenomenon extends to both sports and eSports. There are known cases when even one of the team players was corrupt and agreed to fixed matches and because of this his entire team, which tried to play, lost honestly because he introduced a rather obviously theatrical game instead of playing with all the seriousness and his skill. You are right, betting has a huge impact on sports and as a result of this people show Interest in sports...football and basketball has the highest views of all the entire sports because as the days goes by people are beginning to bet these games...This is the evolution of sports games, and like mentioned, most bet companies sponsor or partner with most football clubs, they actually profit from each other Title: Re: The Impacts of sports betting on the Sports industry Post by: iv4n on August 25, 2025, 01:54:32 PM Partnerships and sponsorships from betting platforms have opened more revenue sources to the industry... That's it... the only impact of sports betting on the sport is more money. But there are rules & regulations, and in some countries, laws are stricter: Quote -Italy 🇮🇹 Since 2019, gambling companies have been banned from sponsoring football kits, stadium names, or even appearing on TV ads. That’s why Serie A clubs no longer have betting brands on their shirts. -Spain 🇪🇸 Since November 2020, shirt sponsorships by betting companies are banned under the Royal Decree on Gambling Advertising. Clubs had to cancel long-term deals (e.g., Valencia with Bwin). -Netherlands 🇳🇱 From July 2025, shirt and sports sponsorships by betting companies are banned. We need to be aware that sports betting platforms don't invest in sports because they love it... they do it because it's the best advertising for them. At the end of the day, it's all just business. Over the past few decades, betting companies have grown enormously, I guess we can say the internet helped a lot. Today they are available 24/7, anywhere in the world. Their offers have also become much more advanced... There are so many markets and betting options that it's almost unbelievable. You can literally place a bet on almost anything that might happen during a sporting event. Sports betting has handed the sports industry a good economic boost and engagement as well as dealt it some negatives. Let's discuss ways that sports betting has impacted the sports industry. Gambling has became an important aspect of sports. Considering how much money comes in and from Gambling to sports, it has became one of the largest sponsors of sports around the world. It has increased the salaries of players, motivated more players to come into sports and promoted less know sports and esports. Gambling also increases fan engagement and viewership. Many people are now taking interest on games, players and watching it live just because they have a bet on it. Gambling has always been a part of sports but not as large, with restrictions, fixing might have gone down but is becoming more complex and unrecognizable as where there is more money, there comes more innovative ideas. This is a very big amount of money, no doubt. And it is growing very fast.
With the expansion of sports gambling, we can see different clubs and matches being sponsored by gambling sites. For example, Everton is sponsored by stake.com (http://stake.com). Inter Milan was also sponsored by Stake.com (http://stake.com). Dortmund is sponsored by Bwin. We also see the dominance of 1x bet in cricket. Dream11 was the sponsor of big teams like India. The dominance of betting sites in cricket and football is obvious. With the expansion of support gambling day by day, they are also sponsoring different big teams. In as much as they've made a lot through the gaming niche, they's a high tendency that gambling led to the high rate of rigged games. And added to why football is not too thrilling like in the 80s or 90s. Think about players who willingly make mistakes just to lose a game so as to win their bets. I think that's a negative impact brought by the gambling deals and endorsements into the sports industry. Not on major sports you can discover this uncalled attitude of match fixing, am not saying it does not exist, but it all depends on the sport category in consideration and the kind of league in question as well, sporting activity to also contribute in respect to sport bet have a long time difference or margin to be specific, because people have been playing sports right from time and also do gambling activities on different sports exist, before majority of the people now believe they could actually have more interest on playing sport bets than other games in gambling. Title: Re: The Impacts of sports betting on the Sports industry Post by: Antotena on August 25, 2025, 03:54:32 PM Unfortunately, fixed matches have existed for a very long time and the smaller the league, the more of them there are. There are leagues fixed matches exist but bookmakers are now smarter than before where they offer services to leagues that can make them losses they don't expect. Bookmakers are services makers to casino, if a casino hire one and found out that there is a loophole the particular bookmarker of that game exploited, they do immediately stop working with such casinos and because of that reason, bookmakers has taken their job more serious not to fall victim of those leagues, they only cover areas of the leagues that are popular to manipulate. I think for long time now, it's proper to say crypto impact on sport betting has increased over time than the traditional online sport betting. If you look at a lot of casino offering sport games partnership with sport industry, the crypto based sport bets are dominating than the ordinary sport betting. I have seen countless ads of BC games and Rollbit on X than I have seen none crypto sport betting platforms, mere looking at the ads on fields, they do more adverts than usual casino. Yea, you are correct but I was not actually referring to when it started in some countries or when it became hassle free, I mean when did sports betting actually started, it dates back from 800 to 700 BC, that's what I mean about when it started. I know some countries didn't endorse it yet until later but my country starts sports betting far back in 1920s and there's no body that thought about match fixing then as much as they do now. I also agree with what you said about the rise in illegal betting now compared to before. How do you tell there was no match fixing until recently? Modern football is about 160 years old, do you think this is the beginning of corruption in sports. We only get to know about corruption in sports because the victims were caught in the act, if they didn't find out the truth then maybe you might keep feeling like the game is without corruption. Match fixing has been a thing even in the past, it will always be a secrete among benefiters.Title: Re: The Impacts of sports betting on the Sports industry Post by: TheUltraElite on August 25, 2025, 04:21:25 PM W also have to agree that a lot of important games today have become popularity due to the presence of their gambling counterparts. Games are common nowadays some that nobody knew some 10years back.
Although the match fixing habit might be there in some smaller level leagues, big leagues dont have that and hence we should keep our imagination to limited levels and enjoy the games once a while. Match fixing has been a thing even in the past, it will always be a secrete among benefiters. Match fixing is hard to figure out unless someone who's been involved and part of the circle will expose and becomes a witness of how it's being done. And you're right, unless there are no people gets caught that are part of it. We will mostly think that they're clean games and no corruption involved and so as these match fixing isn't existing. This is still happening but not to the major sports in the industry. Maybe in the smaller leagues where there's a connection from the major leagues but the sanctions are not that much so, they get involve. Title: Re: The Impacts of sports betting on the Sports industry Post by: o48o on August 25, 2025, 04:30:23 PM Sports betting like we all know has contributed very well to reshaping the sports industry and increased engagements on sports activities. I don't see any connection between sports gambling and engaging sport activities. Maybe if those people want to be in competitive athletes in pro level, they are affected by the money that flows in. But otherwise i don't see any connection.-cut- In fact less competitive sports are probably more popular, like jogging and yoga, going to gym and keeping in shape, then sports with teams. For starters they are harder to organize, gear costs money and they take ton of time. And i am fairly certain that not 1% of the bettors are practicing all the sports they are betting in. They might have some college history, but i doubt it's more than that. Title: Re: The Impacts of sports betting on the Sports industry Post by: Crypto Library on August 25, 2025, 04:44:32 PM I can't say here how much impact sports betting sites are having on the sports industry directly, but I can at least say that betting sites are definitely having an impact, especially now, even if indirectly.
Especially since a large number of people are leaning towards sports betting, they watch various live streams, whether for sports analysis or to keep an eye on it while it's happening, and from there the sports industry earns indirectly, and that's basically how I think sports betting impacts the sports industry. Title: Re: The Impacts of sports betting on the Sports industry Post by: ZAINmalik75 on August 25, 2025, 08:03:34 PM W also have to agree that a lot of important games today have become popularity due to the presence of their gambling counterparts. Games are common nowadays some that nobody knew some 10years back. One thing is sure sports betting is now working as pillar in sports development even too much talk about consequences of this, but still due to sport betting good things happen and too much revenue is also involved in this.Although the match fixing habit might be there in some smaller level leagues, big leagues dont have that and hence we should keep our imagination to limited levels and enjoy the games once a while. Many countries are bringing good and strict laws which keeping negativity away from this, but still things have never been easy to manage because corrupt peoples are having their own ways of engagement which hurt many players future for sure. Spot fixing and match fixing are also coming regularly, but still things are manageable for organizers because they can keep clean things and funds coming through sports betting can also do better for many sports. Title: Re: The Impacts of sports betting on the Sports industry Post by: Mindyspace on August 25, 2025, 11:54:49 PM Let's discuss ways that sports betting has impacted the sports industry. Sports betting, or bookmakers, have long had a significant impact on sports, but with the increasing availability of online platforms, their impact has become even greater. However, now there are event organizers do not accept sponsorship from bookmakers or impose strict rules for gambling sponsors to appear in those sports events, and there are even clubs that also refuse to accept sponsorship from bookmakers. It's true, everything is so connected these days. Betting houses have become part of the system, and many championships already depend directly on them for their survival. If they leave, the impact is huge... it's difficult to reverse that. Title: Re: The Impacts of sports betting on the Sports industry Post by: ₿itcoin on August 26, 2025, 09:58:12 AM it has also led to vices and brutality among fans who may transfer aggression from lost bets on opposing fans celebrating and this has caused brutality in many places. For real? I don't know how often you have experienced something like this or how often this has been reported, to include it as something caused by sports betting. This is simply not true or happens in inconsequential numbers.Through sponsorship and partnership, the sports industry and the sports betting industry raise huge amounts of money, so financially they feed off each other. Other than that, i do not see any other important impact sports betting has had on the sports industry. Fans getting violent only due to lost bets is not just a fable, i think there is a weak but positive relationship between frequent sports gambling & the propensity of spectators to become violent. Additionally, you may notice legalized sports betting publicly has been associated with a significant increase in domestic violence on NFL game loss days. Hence, this is not inconsequential or unusual and it can compound aggressive tendencies, particularly where emotion & finance collide. imo it goes beyond being a fan & there are psychological after effects to dig into. By providing data, the sports industry was able to profit from sports betting. But that’s just one part of it, the bigger impact is that sports betting makes people more interested in watching the games. Some fans even learn about sports they weren’t familiar with before, just because they started betting on them online. For me, the impact is positive. As long as the league preserves its good reputation, more people will keep watching. You are right and I will also say that I myself meant this by saying that people watch live streaming of games and of course streaming platforms are giving fee to get permission from the sports industry, to streaming. And since even for gambling, people watch matches live stream or go directly to the field. For me, the impact is positive. As long as the league preserves its good reputation, more people will keep watching. Although I have doubts about whether this number is not very high at the moment, because traditionally people are already attracted to sports, it is not just the tide that makes people interested here. Title: Re: The Impacts of sports betting on the Sports industry Post by: Oluwa-btc on August 29, 2025, 07:30:05 PM I think if there's anything I like about sports betting impact that'll be the visibility, partnership, sponsorship and advertisement it gives and has given so far in the sports industry. It also links to regulations and betting practices that balances the benefits and dangers involved.

I understand your point, you're not far from the truth, well I want you to know that regardless of how the football bodies governing every particular league or all leagues entirely try to be fair they can't be very fair enough cause there must be some bad eggs that would corrupt the system, this is not something to debate on, cause it's clear. That's why when people talk about match fixing and how corrupt the system is I don't argue cause I watch football alot and see the wrong things that goes on, sometimes some referees would purposely give wrong calls to favour some teams and even the VAR doesn nothing about it. Things may be going well, but just when I see that there are fixed matches that takes away the charm, at least if that happens in whatever I am betting on I stay away from that league so as not to bet anymore, because in reality I feel cheated, normally this happens in local sports leagues, it is difficult for it to occur at high levels of play like in FIFA, where I know that a lot of corruption occurs but they have been fighting it.Title: Re: The Impacts of sports betting on the Sports industry Post by: peter0425 on September 07, 2025, 07:56:25 PM Online betting really did revolutionize on how sportsbettors can place their bets. Do remember, when there was no online bookies yet, I'd say, it was quite shameful to place a bet below 5 bucks. But today, because of online bookies as well as with crypto bookies, you can place a small amount even for a buck. So if you are a small time bettor, you can easily now place a bet online. As long as you have the net and credentials on an online bookie. So for me, online betting industry is indeed growing stronger, meaning, this industry is already earning huge amount from these bettors. Sport betting helps the sport industry a lot, the boxing, football, basketball, etc all have direct link to the gambling industry. Title: Re: The Impacts of sports betting on the Sports industry Post by: LUCKMCFLY on September 10, 2025, 07:46:46 PM I understand your point, you're not far from the truth, well I want you to know that regardless of how the football bodies governing every particular league or all leagues entirely try to be fair they can't be very fair enough cause there must be some bad eggs that would corrupt the system, this is not something to debate on, cause it's clear. Yes, and that damages football, and I have seen matches, especially with Madrid, where the referees are always the protagonists, and that is something that I do not dislike, Until new rules are issued where they are seen and guided by what is actually seen in the VAR and on cameras, football will still be completely clean. It is a shame because important events always occur, it is a real shame. Title: Re: The Impacts of sports betting on the Sports industry Post by: Julien_Olynpic on September 14, 2025, 06:20:32 AM I would say that modern sports would not have become so popular without betting. We know many sports that are of no interest to anyone: neither fans, nor bookmakers, nor bettors. And such sports will be backward until they are brought into the fight for money. Firstly, these are sponsors and advertising. Secondly, these are bookmakers and gamblers. I recall an article about the first world chess championships. You know, the first champions were not rich people. The situation changed significantly only with the arrival of sponsors, the increase in the prize fund, and also with the arrival of bookmakers and gamblers. And there are still many sports where there is very little interest from bookmakers. I believe that this situation will be corrected over time.
